Focus: Purpose of the Heart

WORD FOR TODAY
The purpose of God will not be fulfilled in the life of a man until he has come to a point where he has resolved to do the will of God at all cost. Every investment of God in the life of a man who does not have the purpose of God in his heart is a waste!!!

"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank." (Daniel1:8 NKJV).

What God wants to do in the life of a man will only work out if he purposes in his heart to do God's will at all cost. Daniel, among the Israelites chosen to serve the King of Babylon, was exceptional because the purpose of God was in his heart and he lived to fulfill it.

The essence of the opportunities God has given you over the years to understand His counsel and His will through His word from various medium is to ensure that you come to the point where you will be resolute in your decision to follow God and do His will at all cost. If all the programs and spiritual activities you've been able to have access to does not prompt you to be resolute in your decision to do God's will at all cost like Daniel, Ruth and Joseph then, it is a waste on your life.

Your future in the Lord is not yet known or guaranteed if you don't have the purpose of heart in doing God's will. There is a need to examine your life in a bid to discover if you have come to the point of resolution in following the Lord and doing His will at all cost.

You mindset about the man/woman you married is a factor that determines what you will see in him or her. A man who has the mindset that sees his/her spouse as the best thing that happened to him/her will live to adore and appreciate this gift of God in his or her life.

When a man begins to compare his/her own spouse with another by asking in his mind: "Why is my wife/husband not like another woman/man, he will not see the beauty of the wife or the husband the Lord has given him/her.

King Solomon a man who explored several women of different kind with exceptional beauty, perfect shape and of great quality from different race admonished every man to enjoy life with his wife and not wives. The implication of this is that, you must place your focus on your wife or husband alone. All you need to really enjoy life and destiny can only be found in him or her.

The essence of love in marital relationship is to meet up with our individual inadequacy. You must love your spouse unconditionally because all men created by God is not without weaknesses. Irrespective of how you are joined with your spouse and the circumstances that brought you together the fact still remains that you must accept your spouse to be the best and treat him/her as the best to enjoy life!!!

Focus: God Does Not Tolerate Rivals

WORD FOR TODAY
God in His attributes has proven throughout all ages that He does not tolerate rivals. All glory must be attributed to God and only Him alone!!!

Everything the Lord is doing; He does it for His own sake. Each time a man tries to ascribe the glory that belongs to God to himself he creates for himself a divine resistance. Irrespective of the success and achievement you have in every facet of life be wise enough to ascribe the glory to God who is the giver of life and the power to achieve things.

Most of the times God appears not to respond to people's prayer or perform mighty works through them because they will share in His glory. When the Lord wanted to deliver the Israelites from the midianites, He chose to use Gideon who had no confidence in himself and fought the battle himself after reducing his armies so that they would not claim the glory (Judges 7:2).

Our Lord Jesus laid a perfect example by ascribing glory to God. When they called him good teacher, He replied that only God is good (Mark10:18). When He was to raise Lazarus from death He thanked God the Father who always hear Him (John 11:42). He affirmed the fact that all He does is through the help of the father (John 5:19)  Let this mind also be in you (Phil 2:5).

The best way for a man to finish and lose out in destiny is to ascribe the glory that belongs to God to himself. As you increase and experience progress in every facet of life, don't forget to always glorify the name of the Lord.

A man is only considered to be wise if he fears God and mindful of His will at all times. The wise says in his heart there is God and He rules in all affairs of men

A man is wise if he reverences God to the point of working and walking according to His will. Folly will only catch up with a man who fails to honour God with his life and decision. Joseph feared the Lord and did His will even when no one would challenge him if he did otherwise. This is the wisdom that helped him to preserve his dreams. If the likes of Achan, King Saul and Gehazi had applied the same principle they would not have ended the way they did.

"I can only succeed with the help of God", "I am nothing without God", "I must not live in sin", "It is a dreadful thing to fall into hand of God","I must seek God's approval in everything","I must only go on in life at the Lord's command" are the words of a wise man. No matter how foolish the word of God and His will appears to look like it is the way of wisdom. All men who became great for God were those who placed much priority on what God said and honoured Him with their lives and decision.

Focus: Giving Back to God

WORD FOR TODAY
You have not understood the true act of worship until you come to the understanding that all you have comes from God and you have learnt how to give back to God. It is only what you give back to God that has eternal value!!!

"Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you have already given us! . . ."O LORD our God, even these materials that we have gathered to build a Temple to honor your holy name come from you! It all belongs to you!" (1Chronicles 29:14b,16 NLT)

King David towards the end of his life motivated the Israelites to give precious gifts for the temple and the people gave what they had joyfully. It was easy for them because they gave with the orientation that all they have belongs to God. We will not serve God acceptably until we know and live with the orientation that all we have belongs to God.

Each time we give to God, what we give goes away to bless others be it directly or indirectly. Jesus in His teachings admonished us to make good achievement and make it a blessing to people.

It is not enough to be highly placed; use your position to fulfill God's purpose like Joseph, Daniel and Nehemiah. It is not enough to build houses, buy cars and have riches; you are required to use it in service of God in providing house for the homeless, clothes for those who are naked, food for the hungry and help for those who are in need. As you increase attribute your success to God and lay up for yourself treasure in Heaven.

A man who knows the truth and fails to live by it, is possessed by the spirit of madness. Each time the spirit of madness possesses a man, it ushers him unto the pathway of destruction!!!

To know the will of God and His counsel for various situation of life is a privilege. Each time the Lord made His will known to His people He prepares them to live in wisdom. Spiritual madness sets in each time the people of God live their lives contrary to the will of God.

Whatever makes sinning comfortable for you with false assurance that you will be forgiven is spirit of madness. I read about a sister who committed adultery and thought of repenting and asking for the forgiveness of her sin when she gets back to school. On her way to school, she had an accident and died.

People have read about the likes of Gehazi, Achan, Hophni and Phinehas and yet still engage in corrupt practices in the presence of God. There are several young people who engage in premarital sex and married people who engage in extramarital affairs despite their knowledge of the displeasure of God about the act.

Spiritual madness is identified when a man continues to live waywardly today because he has an assurance that there is a chance of repentance and getting things right with God tomorrow. Don't take the grace and mercy of God for granted; you must seek God and repent now that the grace is available for you. Being spiritually mad has a great eternal consequence.

When the word of the Lord came to Mary the mother of Jesus, she accepted the word and magnified the Lord. This attitude she displayed brought about the fulfillment of the word of God, which appeared impossible at the onset, in her life. Irrespective of the challenges in your life you must not magnify it but magnify what God has said concerning it.

The reason why most people will not have the life God wants to give them is because they magnify the issues that came their way which appears like a set back in the journey of destiny than the promises of God for their lives. When the children of Israel went to spy the land God promised them they saw the giants in the land. As a result of their findings they began to see impossibilities in the promises of God and forgot all the miracles they experienced on their journey.

Life challenges are typical experiences of a man in the journey of destiny do not magnify it. Always magnify God and His word for your life. Live your entire life emphasizing the word of God and live in the reality of His promises for you.

A man being ruled by the sinful nature cannot please God. The expectation of God for all His children is for us to submit our entire being to Him and allow Him to work in us to do His good pleasure. When we allow the Spirit of God to manifest in our lives that is when we can bear the fruit of the Spirit.

Each time you discover that what you are doing is contrary to God's will you should know you are being ruled by the sinful nature. Hence, the admonition of God to you at this very point in time is to walk in the Spirit. When you do what you should do under God, what you should not do will not find space in your life. If your thinking is right and in line with God's thoughts, evil thoughts will not find space in your life. The same applies to the words you speak and your activities.

To walk in the Spirit means to submit yourself to God at all times and allow Him to engage your spirit in everything you do.

God has been so wonderful from generation to generation. He has not stopped showing His mercy despite our limitations as men. If God would have allowed all our thoughts to come to pass what would have become of us. He has proven Himself as the Almighty who purifies every thoughts in all situation of life.

We have been sick and thought we would die from the sickness; wrote exam and thought we would fail, embark on a journey and thought we would never return or have an accident on the way, engage in a business and thought we would suffer loss, have a bill or fee to settle and thought we would be put to shame, seek for an appointment and thought we would be disappointed, set a stage for presentation and thought we would fumble.

Most of these evil thought pattern are born out of our past experiences and what we see happening to people. But God in His mercy will not allow them to come to pass. He also hinders the fulfillment of some of our so called good thoughts just to bring us into the centre of His will for us. You must keep thanking God for your life, because His thoughts over you is for peace aimed at ensuring you have an expected end!

At every junction of decision making do not settle for the better but the best. You have not chosen the best until you settle for the will of God for your life no matter how good or bad it appears at a point in time! You must be mindful of the fact that It is only time that will test what is best at every point in time.

The devil will always present something that is better to you but God will always give that which is the best. The devil presented Ishmael to Abraham saying it was better than having no child but there was an Isaac for Abraham and that was God's best for him. To seek for a better life is to settle for Ishmael but to have the best is to wait for your Isaac. As far as job, husband, wife, career, child and other blessings the Lord gives to His people wait for your Isaac.

Only Jesus can tell what is best for you at a point in time. Joseph as a slave in Egypt was still the best for Him than being a son in Canaan land at that time. If there be any situation the Lord designed for your life, is the best for you. An attempt to jump out of it, is to reject the life God wants to give you. The best of your life will come when you cumulatively settle for the gift of God.

Despite the exploit Apostle Paul achieved for God in his ministry, he came to a point where he acknowledged the fact that he was miserable and that he needed help. This is not because of any other thing but the sinful nature. Each time a man, irrespective of who he is and his walk and work with God, does not submit to the dictate of the Holy Spirit he becomes a slave to sin.

If you continue to find yourself living in sin despite your knowledge of what the will of God is for your life; you are entangled with sin and you need help. You must look up to God for help in dealing with your weaknesses. The great Samson died shamefully; Gehazi became leprous simply because they couldn't control their appetite.

There are several men who have good message, ministry, career, marriage, job whose destinies and exploits were cut short due to love of money, lust and various works of the flesh. Acknowledge your weaknesses and seek God to deliver you before it destroys your life. You must come to the cross and submit to God in absolute obedience to His principles through discipleship.

There is no doubt in the fact that some people will choose to do what is contrary to God's will in every facet of life. While other present themselves as a bad model you must resolve in your heart to do that which is good according to God's will!!!

There is a reward for every action in the land of the living. It is possible for the mind of a man to grow weary in doing what is good and right; most especially when every model or examples of men that matter presented to him are doing what is wrong. In every situation where others choose to fail God you are expected to renew your mind to impress Him.

The word of God makes it clear that whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin (James 4:17). There are men who present themselves to embezzle funds, sow the seed of discord and hatred, do evil, inflict pains on others, block the progress of others, embittered about other people's progress, engage in premarital or extramarital sex etc.

When you see people doing all these and the likes which are contrary to God's will; you must find help in God not to do such. You should allow the attribute of Christ to manifest in your life. Like Daniel, have a purposed heart to obey God at all times. Be mindful of the fact that whether it appears as if you face the consequences of your actions or not it does not change the fact that God said "My reward is with me"

As the days go by, there is yet a miracle the Lord will perform in your life. Things will not continue to be the way it has been. You are alive because there is yet a Glory to be revealed through your life in the land of the living.

At best you can only have the knowledge of what is happening to you now, your tomorrow is only known and determined by God. Irrespective of what you have achieved so far in life, your best is yet to come. You have no reason to give up in any situation of life. God is still interested in you that's why you are still living.

Therefore, before this time tomorrow God will perform wonders in your life. You will never remain the same again for the Lord will change your story. Be mindful of what you do today. Allow God to work in you to work out His good pleasure in your life.

Focus: Avoid making Excuses

Excuse is a tool in the hands of the devil to exempt a man from God's purpose and mandate. You must avoid making excuses because there will always be a reason for not doing something at every point in time!!!

"Then Moses said to the LORD, "O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue." (Exodus 4:10 NKJV)

A man who waits for perfect condition will not be able to achieve anything. The achievements attributed to the life of Moses wouldn't have been if God accepted his excuses. Life has proven that all men who succeeded in various aspect of life had some reason not to.

Some have health, family, financial, spiritual, environmental challenges. The good intentions in the heart of most of these people were greeted with set backs. Yet they achieve what they achieved even with their weaknesses and limitations. Some of these aforementioned issues are viable excuses that can exempt a man from becoming who God wants him to be.

Jesus asked some men to follow Him but cares and worries of this life hindered them; the excuses of most of these people, made them to lose out in the purpose of God. To make excuses when you are required to take responsibility will exempt you from the blessedness of taking such responsibility. Avoid making excuses and take responsibility.

There is an underlying principle of God that defines and makes a successful marriage. It is not a function of faith, belief, religion, knowledge in the word of God or by how much you can pray but conscious obedience to God's principle for a successful marriage.

Those who are truly enjoying their marriage blissfully were those who consciously follow the principle laid down by God. Even when your marriage appears to be wrong the fact still remains that you are married already; you can correct every lapse and make it work by following God's principles.
Every marriage starts on a very good note, but challenges set in along the line. When this happens you must submit to do whatever God tells you.

His principle is revealed to us as follow:
1. God hates divorce be it physically or logically (Mal 2:16)
2. Husbands must love their wives the way Christ love the church
3. Wives must submit to their husbands irrespective of who they are and their status (Eph 5:25).
Irrespective of your experience in marriage; you will be on the safe side when you do only what the Lord tells you.

As a Teacher or Lecturer several young lives will pass through you; you are expected to help their foundation and teach the values that will uphold their future. As Medical practitioner,
Judges, clergy man and leader in any capacity;1¹ the expectation of God over your life is that men, their future, lives and possession are secured in your hands.

Be mindful of the fact that God ordained you to be a prophet to nations. However, you can only save lives when God has helped you to overcome (self) selfishness and (worldliness) the love of money. Allow God to work in you to do His good pleasure so that your existence will not be a waste nor be detrimental to God's purpose.

The Lord did not hide His feelings about the personality of Job even to the devil. He is a God that loves to take glory over His creations. The Lord was giving an account of who Job was to the devil:

The way the Lord took glory over Job even when he knew nothing about it, is the same way He mourns over those lives that fail to live up to his expectations and those who disappoint Him. It was recorded that God made it known to Samuel that "I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments." (1Sam15:11).

Even these days God regrets making some men shepherd over His people in any leading capacity because they choose not to do His will. Irrespective of the honour and accolades people accord to you on the account of what they see in your life or the position/office you occupy, it does not change what God who sees every secret and intent of the heart says about you.

Most of what we worry about sometimes, is not our needs but want. Either as a result of what is seen in the lives of other men or what to use to prove our superiority before men or something to show that we are also an achiever. If there be any need in your life, present them to God and He will make grace available for you.

What will people say is the reason that prompted men:
�Not to marry the rightful partner designed by God for their destiny.
�Not to marry at the time they should.
�Not to respond to the call of God over their lives or take up a job designed by God to build in them the required character for their future.
�To be living in debt and beyond the measure of God's grace in their lives.
�Delay response to God's instructions and issues that demand repentance.
�Invest so much on their appearance than their heart.

Everything that has to do with men will finish. The people that praise you today will criticize and curse you tomorrow. It is only what God says about you that has eternal value and earthly relevance. You will not be what God wants you to be until you live with the consciousness of what God is saying about you!

The joy of going into the promised land was cut short when the Israelites met themselves at a dead end - they could neither proceed further because the red sea is before them nor return back due to the host of Egypt chasing after them. At this point, they forgot the promised land and started to worry about not having grave- they have accepted to die. It was at this point the Lord said: "fear not and be still"

As you proceed in destiny, you are likely to experience several setbacks. We will be faced with death, uncertainty and several issues that will portray hopelessness. Situation that will pressurize us to forget the plans of God for us and accept death and defeat over various situation of life will come. It is because of such a time like this that God had before now admonished you not to fear.

When God tells you to fear not; He wants to show you His salvation. In every situation of life you must be still enough to hear God and allow Him to fight your battles. Take a step of faith to move forward like the Israelites did in obedience to God's word and you will experience a miracle!!!

The fact that you did not choose your parents, origin, age, date of birth, colour, race, height, voice etc establishes the fact that God created you to fulfill a unique purpose. Hence, you must allow Him to have His way in your life so that He will work in you to do His good pleasure. Anytime a man goes in a way that seems right before him in disobedience to God, he denounces the good life the Lord wants for him; and other path leads to destruction.

The likes of Gehazi, Saul, Achan had their ways at a point in destiny and their actions at those points changed the initial plans of God for their lives. Joseph, Daniel and David at a very critical moment of their lives allowed God to have His way and they succeeded in sealing the good life God wanted to give them. You also, in your career, marriage, business, ministry, academics etc. allow God to have His way to enjoy His best support in your pilgrimage.

Hence, the source of most of the problems we have in life is disobedience to God's underlaying principles in every facet of life and the required solution to life's problem will also come from obeying God's principles.

As the Israelites were approaching the city of Jericho; God gave them an instruction based on the strategy they should employ to possess the land. They weren't told to use powerful tools against the wall but to walk around it and just to shout thereafter.

Several mountains standing before you are still waiting for the fulfillment of your obedience in various aspect of life. There is something the Lord is telling you about the situation of your life. You don't need to struggle with His word for you. All you need to do is to obey and every wall standing as an hindrance to your victory will fall flat.

Irrespective of the calibre of men that surrounds your life learn to look away from who they are and what they have, and trust God.

A man can be deceived to have an assurance of a good future when he considers his lucrative job, business, investments and connection. Even these have proven to fail where God does not make grace available. Trust God for your life and let Him guide and pattern your ways to success. We must never live with the orientation that someone will do for us what is expected of us to do; it is a way to live in disappointment.

Every man must take responsibility to do what God has given him grace to do and to seek God by trusting in Him to do what you cannot do. Despite the fact that God wants you to make yourself available to help others you must never help them to cripple them or take the place of God in their lives. Don't allow men to use you to meet their needs when they are not ready to help themselves by taking responsibility.

We must be mindful of the fact that we cannot change a man who does not need change.True love sometimes can be tough. We must leave men sometimes to learn how to trust God for their lives. You also must develop a very good character that makes you depend on God rather than begging at every slight need in your life. Trust God to take responsibility.

The rich young ruler came to a point where he was to make a critical decision of either choosing an eternal treasure or holding on to his ephemeral riches. He decided to bid farewell to Jesus and left him sorrowfully. He was sorrowful because he desired eternal blessing but the price was just too much for him to pay.

Jesus lived like a stranger on earth; He had no attachment to worldly riches and He admonished all His disciples to learn from Him. He also admonished us to sell everything we have and lay up our treasure in heaven. This is because you cannot take your heart away from where your treasure is.

The practical implication of this is that the Lord wants you to do away with anything that will hold you down from or entangle you from fulfilling His divine purpose. Your life, money and every blessing of God in your life is expected to serve God's purpose in the land of the living. The reason why some people continue to live in the web of unrighteousness and disobedience to God's mandate for their lives is desire for riches. If you must follow Jesus the condition given to the young ruler is applicable to you as well. Whatever you cannot leave in obedience to your divine calling becomes an eternal liability.

In life you must be ready to confront your battles with the help of God. God does not design his own children to be cowards or run away from battles confronting them.

In the list of the weapons of our warfare; there is no weapon situated at the back. The implication of this is that a child of God who turns his back to the battle of life confronting him has no defence and may end up as a victim because cowardice in the battle of life means death. The essence of breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, sword of the spirit and all weapons of our warfare is to confront our battles (Eph 6:10-17).

You must seek God to know the required strategy to confronting the battle before you. For Jehosaphat he was required to sing (2Chro 20); the Israelites were required to shout over the walls of Jericho(Joshua 6); David only needed a sling and stone to finish Goliath (1Samuel 17). What these men used were not reasonable to the common sense but mighty through God; pulling down strongholds by the virtue of their obedience to God's principles(2Cor 10:4-6).

Every investment of God in your life through His word is tailored towards revealing His works in your life. The Lord is more interested in the quality of life you lived among men than your preaching, teachings and religious activities!

You make your God a laughing stock when you don't live up to God's expectations for your life. As you live your every day life, there is an impression you are creating in the mind of people who place your life on a close watch.

People will only know if the word you preach or teach and probably stand for is true and practicable through the life you live. God knows the implication of your lifestyle to the fulfillment of His purpose in your locality. Your performance in destiny under God is a function of how your life conforms to the life of Christ which brings glory to God.
