spicy v: Why do you feel attacked? All these team Ese and their love for the game of playing the victim! Na wah!Look spicy v, I know you here in nairaland. If I joseph1832 open a thread and say: how I bleeped spicy v, I know you'll come out and say "am insane". That's what this guy should be doing. |
coogar: frosbel, shut up your mouth....That is why he should speak the bloody truth instead of using political cristiano ronaldo to deceive people! Appealing to people emotion is a fallacy and that my friend is what this Pastor is using!. |
It is now so bloody obvious that some Nigerians will defend and protect their Pastors/Reverends whenever they err! I still can't fanthom the tremendous grip these men of God have on them. |
frosbel: I am a Christian who thinks with this brain, who does NOT depend on a pastor to make me feel good or come to a knowledge of God, one who is disgusted at the hijacking of the faith by businessmen, charlatans and false prophets.A gargatuan AMEN to that my good sir! We can't these mere mortals see that they really don't need a business tycoon to make heaven. Jesus already said it, "I am the way the truth and the light, no one cometh to the father except through me". I wonder why he didn't mentioned these so called men of God!. What makes them so special? Did jesus not shed his blood for me and them? How come people perceive them as semi messiahs? |
spicy v: You mean that is what YOU CHOSE to deduce from my posts right? Okay, let me break it down for you, I am NOT and will NOT defend a Man of God who clearly DOES NOT need my defense! He said it himself, God will fight for him! I aint God, never claimed to be so please don't assume me as HIM."My God will fight for me" that sounds exactly like what all guilty men say when they are cornered with shear truth. |
spicy v: Yes! A disturbed, delusional female who is desperate about making people believe in the reality of her fantasy would do all she did!Thank God Nigerian politicians can not lobotomize Nigerians the way these Pastors do these days!. Father I thank thee. |
spicy v: As simple as that question looks, you'd be amazed at the kind of responses you'll get. She's and adult. Nobody's denying that! What I am saying is, is it right for a man to God to engage in fornication. Hell No! Defending him only shows that you've drown youselves in sentiments, cause that is what your attaching to this thread. |
coogar: he doesn't need to stoop low to address a serial pröstitute.Oh serial prostitute she is now right? So what will you call people who patronises them? Am curious to know. |
A dog will surely defend a dog! Nothing has changed. It has happened before and it will surely happen again. |
It's obvious this so called man is as guilty as sin! Using mere rhetorics to dodge direct questions is a sign of his political capabilities. Why can't he come open and confess his sins and say YES am guity then we'll truly know that he's human. We shouldn't forget that God only forgives those who repent! |
joeace2020: God.. GOD.. God!!!! Una nor dey tire from reasoning dis shallow? And what is shallow about his reasoning? ![]() |
akuji: This is the 4th post I ve clicked on in 10 mins that is directing me to a blog to look at a picture...errgghh how annoying!!!! ![]() |
Is it not this same Buhari that said that the 2011 election will be his last election? Hoe come he is now saying he wants to contest? This how one knows who to vote for. A man who can't keep to his words is not fit to be President of a country!. |
Sincere 9gerian: @OAM4J..,I saw your belated and watery response to the above post and thread. Your post didn't address any of the issues raised besides the advice that I should play by the rules. Well, just to make the point that I do not need ANYONE to advice me to play by the rules. I play by the rules in WHATEVER I do.If you call OAM4J APC Chieftain and anyone who doesn't support GEJ Tinubu's e-rats, am curious to hear from you what YOU ARE? |
Honestly, many of you here are so petty! |
Emmyk: This thing is looooong. But I read half and got your point. That's what is obtainable in the society, the whole lingua franca mentality. |
Since the dawn of the twenty first century, Westernization has been a phenomenon that has been spreading across the globe at a tremendous rate. The spread of Westernization can be attributed to many factors of which Globalization can be said to have played a very crucial role in its spread. Nigeria like many country in the world has always been at the receiving end of these western norms and value system where the negative aspects of these western norms and value system is now something that is witness in the lives of many Nigerians, and of course the positive impact are things nobody wants to emulate or make part of their everyday lives. The negative impact of westernization has since spread its tentacles to every nook and cranny of the Nigerian state thus influencing and changing the culture of many tribes and ethnic group in the country. A renowned scholar once defined Culture as the "way of life of a particular people living in a particular place". From this definition given, one can readily say that the ways of westernization was never part of Nigerians as a people living in a particular place. A growing trend now in Nigeria that is almost becoming a norm is the way many Nigerians dress, while many will say "to dress decent is a choice" they tend to forget that from the pre colonial era, Nigerians have always have different dress attire that has always been the embodiment of Nigerian traditional value and culture system, dress attire that are very beautiful and more often than not provoke the envy of many westerners. The way many Nigerians dress nowadays often make one to wonder about the moral scruple of that individual, this is most common with some Nigerian women, you take a good look at the way some women dress in the society and you cannot help but marvel at the level of indecency being display, they reveal almost all the things that shouldn't even be revealed, things that should only be seen by their husband alone, should you even ask why they display such things in public, they tell you it’s their body and they can decide to do whatever they what to do with it. More often than not these women who often flaunt their intimate parts are often at the receiving end of many men who most times mistake them for commercial sex workers, the women in turn tend to pour their anger at these men forgetting that in Nigeria today most people react to what they see and hear in the society. Let us shift our attention now to another trend that is by far worse than that of indecent dressing, "Infidelity", you take a very good look at Nigeria today and you just can't help but marvel at the way some married men cheat on their wives at will. Before the spread of westernization, infidelity was something that was severely treated and spoken against in Nigeria, should a man or woman cheat on his or her spouse, that person will be brought to the village square and flogged, but now all you see are married men engaging in the act and still say that there is absolutely nothing wrong for a man to cheat on his wife. The Women now have also joined the men in this abysmal act, some women now adays tend to copy what their male counterparts are doing, that is cheating on their husband, when asked why they engage in such act, they tell you "what a man can do a woman can do better" that is cheating is not only good for a man but good for a woman. Among all these things, the issue that really calls for concern is the issue of "homosexuality". To the Nigerian traditional man, homosexuality is a foreign word and should one try to explain it to him, he will rebuke you with all the might he can muster. Be that as it may, homosexuality is now almost becoming as morally right as infidelity and indecent dressing, although the National Assembly have banned the act, this does not however stop many from engaging in it. The pressure from many foreign countries on Nigeria's stand on homosexuality goes a long way to say that many Nigerian homosexuals both home and abroad are lobbying for the National Assembly to legalize the act. Although the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs have reiterated Nigeria's stand on homosexuality, many foreign organizations seem not agree with it saying that it is an individual’s fundamental human right. What they seem to forget is that such a thing was and still is a taboo in our many traditional norms and value system in the country today. I believe these mentioned above are just about the most worrisome trend westernization having brought to the Nigerian polity. We must all look at these things critically and speak out against it for with the aid of globalization they seem to be spreading tremendously. When growing up as a child, homosexuality, indecent dressing and infidelity were things that I never even knew about, but now even a thirteen year old will tell you that such things are almost normal and right. While westernization have brought about many positive changes in Nigeria, it has also brought about many negative changes and the negative is what many Nigerians are focusing on thus relegating the positive, a very close look at internet scam popularly called ‘yahoo yahoo’ will buttress this point. We should all shun these negative trends of westernization and uphold the positive, for if we do not, our traditional norms and value will be wiped off the face of the Nigerian state to be replaced with western norms and value system. http://ehiaguinaehbodaghe..com/2013/08/the-negative-impact-of-westernization.html |
Nigeria like many Countries on the African continent has been plagued with many problems that continue to add unprecedented hardship on the lives of its citizens. While many would attribute these problems started from the colonial era, many would not. However, a few would attribute the problems Nigeria is currently facing is as a result of the fact that the country lack good leaders. A very good look at the level of people who have ruled the country right from the time of independence to this present day will convince one that indeed the country does lack good leaders. I've taken time to highlight a few qualities Nigerians should look out for when electing leaders. ACCOUNTABILITY: This quality is what a leader most possess. A leader should not shy away from his or her responsibilities and circumstances that arises from bad decisions whether it was made by him or his subordinate. He should be ready to face the effects of actions made by him be it positive or negative. CREDIBILITY: This quality is one Nigerians most look out for in leaders, the past activities of that leader shows whether he or she is fit to occupy the position he or she is vying for, also the records of the person should be thoroughly checked to know how he or she fared when they occupied positions at whatever stage in their career. INTEGRITY: The integrity of a good leader goes along way to show the kind of person he or she really is, just like credibility, his or her actions should be looked into for one to know just how strong his or her integrity is. The reputation of the individual plays a leading role, also, as this will enable people to know his or her abilities and whether he or she has the charisma to lead. SELFLESSNESS: This is the very strong quality a leader most possess. While many leaders may possess some of the qualities mentioned above, many leaders have often showed that they lack this very strong quality. A leader most know that whatever positions he or she occupy is not for the entire benefit of him and his family but for the benefit of the people he represents. He or she most know that it is not about him or her but about the people. He or she should endeavor to do everything humanly possible to ensure that a smile is put on the faces of the people he or she represents. He or she should realize that they are mainly tools, weapons fashioned for the actualization of desired goals and objectives. GENUINE FEAR OF GOD: There is a saying "the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom". I guess with this it is okay to say many leaders don't really fear God that's why they lack the wisdom to lead. If a leader truly fears God, they will really endeavor to do what they are suppose to do because they know that they are answerable to God. If a leader possess all the qualities mentioned above one will discover that, that leader will be able to carry out his or her duties effectively and efficiently regardless of the obstacles they face. These qualities are qualities Nigerians should watch out for when electing leaders that will pilot the affairs of the Nation in whatever capacity, they should not elect leaders based on tribal, religious, ethnic grounds as these can prove to be disastrous. |
Funky Justice: In ur political murder's list,If dis ar jst d only names u knw dat fell victims 2 political murder,Baba! am afraid ur coment is 'tribalistically suggestive'.(grama na 4 dictionary)..1 Nigeria. Please feel frEe to name your own murder list. And am sorry if you feel "grama na 4 dictionary". Aint ma fault if you feel that way bro. |
If this post is true in its entirety then we as Nigerians are doomed! Such a pity that our leaders have shown their lackadaisical desperations to do whatever needs to be done to gain political power. Ever since Al Mustapha was freed one should have expected or hoped that the police force would have reopened the case of kudirats murder but in a country where truth is always seen a blatant lie nobody is even asking these questions "who killed kudirat"?, "who killed dele giwa"? "Who killed bola ige"?. The list of political murders is piling up, and nobody is blinking an eyelid. One day I believe it will be their turn then we will see who cries and crow "like the cock crow at dawn". |
Less insults, minute narraw minded coMment, no religious bigotry, limited tribal and ethnic sentiments. I am indeed marvelled! Nice to know we have mature minds on NL. Really folks our grades don't really define how intelligent we are, it's such a pity our society place to much store on grades and certificates. All the same, the quest to succeed in life lies in the hand of any body who wants to succeed in life, mind you success to me doesn't really mean fame and money but the happiness of that person regardless of the fact that the person is educated or not!. |
Between wole and GEJ + PEJ I take wole anyday anytime. Its better to be a MOP than to be clueless and uneducated. Wole lives on... |
SpicyMimi: Honestly this aint funny at all! They are only doin this to trend, get more followers and few hours of fame...its totally bad to take advantage of all these celebrities by insulting them! Am not suprised anyway...twitter is a place for kids. What about nairaland, A place for adults I suppose? |

Am still amazed some people here still use weasel words to deceive themselves and others who allow themselves to be deceived! Do we need a report from transparency international to tell us that corruption is on the increase? some here said we like to celebrate bad news, How come when people speak out against evil some people say they celebrate bad news or are enemies of progress? It is only in Nigeria who find all these things. For those of you here who deceive yourselves by telling yourselves and others that the country is getting better, please4 take a look at your surrounding, if you have light 24/7 then rejoice, if the road which you ply to work is tarred then rejoice, if you employer pays your salary as at when due and doesn't owe you, then rejoice.... But if the negative side of these things mentioned affects you one way or the other and you are telling yourself other wise, then my friend YOU ARE A FOOL!. |
Maxymilliano: I love this part ... This guy deserve to be freed!Who then planned and killed Kudirat? When will Nigerians ever see a solved political murder case in this country? you are here saying he deserved to be freed... |
Hezron Lorraine: Haterz keep hating.Na Die all of U na go die.Mr Man, In Nigeria when have borrowed money ever amounted to anything good and beneficial to the common man? Please we shouldn't all forget that election is drawing near and in this country it is a do or die affair! All the same i say Amen to your prayer cause that's all it is nothing more nothing and when has prayer ever affected the lives of Nigerians positively? |
rodeo0070: It’s a concept that can be difficult to come to terms with, but like it or not our intellect (or our perceived intellect) can often work against us in life. The indications are all there once you have the eyes to see them. Have you fell into the “I think I’m too smart for my own good” trap? Don’t worry the big part of correcting a mistake is realizing it exists! Check out these 5 signs you are not as smart as you think you are and see if any or all apply to you. Coming quickly to terms with them and correcting this kind of self-defeating behavior can make you truly smarter fast! And perhaps more importantly, much happier too.OP it takes a smart person like Anthony Anenih to rig elections continuously without being caught. It takes a smart person like Maina to steal police pensions and also get away with it. It takes smart boys to dupe foreigners of enormous amount and getting away scud free. It makes a smart man to lie continuously in church and deceive people into giving them their hard earn money. It takes a smart man to deceive a girl by telling her he wants to marry her but in reality he just wants to sleep with her, the list is endless.... |
There's a vast difference between a smart person and an intelligent person. But as the OP rightly said, it's a matter of opinion and opinions are subjective and not absolute truth! |
Gone were the days when being a child was among the greatest things on earth, coming back from school, hanging out with friends, playing and being feed and pampered by parents, friends and family members, and above all watching television. I have noticed that now a days, in the life of the Nigerian child, even if something haven’t changed from the time we were kids, something have indeed changed, and the things that really changed are the things that really matters in the bringing up of the child. The one thing that have indeed change is the mentality of the Nigerian child where they only seem to bother about just one thing in particular, “that is making money”, of course when we were kids, making money was indeed the last thing on our minds, what we were thought and what we see around us were things that motivates us into growing up and being useful to the society. A proper look at the Nigerian children of today and you’ll notice a very drastic change in the status quo, they don’t seem to bother about growing up and being useful to the society but rather, growing up and becoming millionaires and it is nobody’s business how they make their millions. One might ask, what seems to be the reason for this drastic change in the mind of the Nigerian child? Permit me to carry us back to the times when we were kids when morality was not on the decline like we have today. You’ll notice that apart from the society which plays a crucial role in the moral standings of a child, the media also have a very crucial as well, this was made possible by the quality of programs the media aired, programs that are not only educative but also informative and entertaining as well, programs like 3 2 1 contact, Bright Sparks, Peter and his toy box, Sesame Street e.t.c. Need I fail to mention that the cartoons of our times also provided us not only entertainment, but also information and education as well, cartoons like Pigeon Street, Voltron, Terahawks, G Force, Thundersub e.t.c. Bringing our minds back from the past to the present one look at the programs being aired in the TV stations today and you’ll see reasons why the minds of the Nigerian child has become polluted to an alarming state. All the TV stations of today air are soap operas or telenovelas, talk shows of different types(not that the talk shows are not educative but children of today don’t watch them) music videos and reality TV shows of different type and category. With all these shows taking the centre stage on almost all the TV stations in Nigeria, one cannot be surprised with the way morality and societal norms and value is steadily on the decline. Majority of what these TV shows give, is just one thing, that is “entertainment” and this entertainment comes with a price, and that price is the way these TV shows have influence the thinking of the Nigerian child into believing that all one need to do to make money is just to take part in any reality TV show, win the star price and become a millionaire overnight. What they seem not to notice is the way these things have changed and influence their mindset thus contributing to the value, norms and moral decline which is now the norm of our society. For all of us to properly eradicate these things, we need to take a stand and try our best to re-orientate and inculcate good moral and value beliefs in our children, this can be done by adequately ensuring, supervise and guide the thinking and mentality of our children, counsel them in the many evils they see in the society which may seem cool to them by telling them that these things don’t pay anyone on the long run. http://ehiaguinaehbodaghe..com/2013/07/gone-where-days.html |
As the fifteenth century gave way to the sixteenth, Jesus returned. He reappeared in Spain, on the streets of Seville. There were no fanfares attending his advent, no choirs of angels or supernatural spectaculars, no extravagant meteorological phenomena. On the contrary, he arrived ‘softly’ and ‘unobserved’. And yet the passers-by quickly recognized him, were irresistibly drawn to him, surrounded him, flocked about him, followed him. He moved modestly among them with a gentle smile of ‘ineffable compassion’, held out his hands to them, conferred his blessings upon them; and an old man among the crowd, blind from childhood, miraculously regained the faculty of sight. The multitude wept and kissed the earth at his feet while children tossed flowers before him, sang and lifted their voices in hosannas. At the steps of the cathedral, weeping mourners were carrying inside a small open white coffin. Within it, almost hidden by flowers, lay a child of seven, the only daughter of a distinguished citizen. Urged on by the crowd, the bereft mother turned to the newcomer and beseeched him to restore the dead girl to life. The procession was halted and the coffin was set down at his feet on the cathedral steps. ‘Maiden, arise!’ he commanded softly, and the girl immediately sat upright, looking about, smiling with wide wondering eyes, still holding the cluster of white roses that had been placed in her hands. This miracle was witnessed, as he passes with his entourage of bodyguards, the city’s cardinal and Grand Inquisitor ‘an aged man, almost ninety, tall and upright in stature, with a shriveled face and deeply recessed eyes, in which, however, there still burned a gleam of light’. Such was the terror he inspired that the crowd, despite the extraordinary circumstances, deferentially fell silent, parted and made way for him. Neither did anyone dare to interfere when, at the old prelate’s behest, the newcomer was summarily arrested by his bodyguards and led off to prison. When the Grand Inquisitor visits Jesus’s cell, it is clear he knows only too well who the prisoner is; but the knowledge does not deter him. During the prolonged philosophical and theological debate that ensues, the old man remains adamant in his position. In the scripture, Jesus is tempted by the devil in the wilderness with the prospect of power, of earthly authority, of secular or temporal dominion over the world. Now, a millennium and the half later, he is confronted by precisely the same kind of temptations. When he resists them, the Grand Inquisitor consigns him to the stake. Jesus responds only by conferring on the old man a kiss of forgiveness. Shuddering, the kiss ‘glowing in his heart’, the old man opens the door to his cell. ‘Go’, he commands ‘and come no more… Come not at all, never, never! Released into the darkness, the prisoner disappears, never to be seen again. And the Grand Inquisitor, in full consciousness of what has just transpired, continues to adhere to his principles, continues to enforce his reign of terror, continues to sentence other victims often self evidently innocent to the flames. (Extracted from Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh’s ‘The Inquisition’ Penguin Books, 2000) From the passage above it is evident that the Grand Inquisitor will do anything to hold on to his earthly power and position even it means selling his soul wholeheartedly to the devil. However should Jesus walk the earth this present day, one can only decipher that he will no doubt be faced with the same kind of resistance he faced in the passage above, not from the masses of present day Nigeria, but from members of the ruling class and the clergy. Permit me to say that the Grand Inquisitor in the passage above is no different from many of the members of both the ruling class and the clergy, who have formed a symbiotic relationship of lobotomizing the Nigerian masses. One cannot seem to argue the level of episodic decadence that has slowly been eating its way into the fabrics of the Nigerian polity. And who do we have to blame for this decay, one can only point his or her fingers to those who have occupy the position of power in this country and members of the clergy who sit back and do absolutely nothing to ease the suffering of the masses. Observe critically the way members of the ruling class always sort the help of the clergy when it’s time for election or when there seem to be turmoil in the country. Members of the ruling class pay unceremonious visits to members of the clergy and seek their help in the lobotomization of the Nigerian masses. While one cannot fault any member of the ruling class from paying visits to any clergyman, one is also forced to ask, how many times have we seen or heard that the President of the United States visit a clergyman in his country? Or even the Prime Minister of Britain? With this however, one can only question the rationale behind these unscrupulous visits. So they question now is how have the clergy succeeded in subduing the anger of the masses?, they continuously tell they masses to pray and hope for the best, and the masses forgetting that ‘action speaks louder than words’ and also forgetting that ‘hope’ which is a fine quality but when possess in excess can be very dangerous do exactly what the clergymen say because of the fact that they revere them, while they the clergy continue to get grants and cash gifts from members of ruling class. It even made the front page of many newspapers the way some members of the ruling class pay surreptitious visits to a clergy man who was incarcerated for burning members of his church. Even the visit of the President of Nigeria to the Redeem Christian Church of God is testament to this. The list is endless. So the question is, why allow someone or even endorse someone who is responsible for the gross decay in the country to come and pay visit to members of the clergy? I know some will say Jesus spent all his time on earth with sinners and not the righteous, but what they fail to note is that did Jesus sit back and receive gifts from the sinners without admonishing them of their sins?, did he sit back and encourage them to go on and continue in their sinful ways?, did he by any chance endorse them? The answer I leave for you to answer. |
