Dottore:
This incidence has made me start wondering if theoadera are m0rons. In a bid to stupidly "save" cost of making use of two vehicles they overloaded a single truck now look at the enormous collateral damage it has caused:
1.Possible compromose of strenght integrity of the bridge because of the force of trying to pass through or even withdraw having seen the impossibility of making it through.
2. The cost of unloading the goods at the spot and reloading to a different truck
3. The avoidable traffic jam caused by the truck and the inconvenience to other road users.
3. Of course hiring another truck on emergency would sharply increase the oral cost of haulage as well as the workforce of the labourers.
5. There's every possiblilitu that law enforcement officials like LASTMA, Police and even roads safety typically wouldn't allow the man go free abi they come look bridge for lagos.
It's loss and more loss
And the impact on the roads already under pressure...

Christianity EtcRe: Why Are We Not Supposed To Eat Meat On Ash Wednesday And Fridays During Lent? by Josh316(m): 3:21pm On Feb 10, 2016
Bro, if you went to cathecism as a catholic (I'm assuming you are catholic), you would really not bring up this post here. However, let me enlighten you.

1. It is not Ash Wednesday and Every Friday during lent, but Ash Wednesday and Good Friday

2. It is one of the age old doctrines of the Catholic church that ENCOURAGES people to fast and abstain from things which matter most. At the time this doctrine was formatted, meat was considered food for kings and the very rich, hence the church called on catholics to observe the practice as a form of self mortification or self suffering so that one could be closer to God.

It is really not a sin, but because the Church proclaimed it in the ancient past as a sin, it has been carried to this day. I personally believe it is one of such proclamations which need to be reviewed for doctrinal correctness.

Our only problem is that it seems to be too thorough and it takes too much time. If there are obvious cases, like bank accounts, infrastructure, houses and hotels, I would hope they could do it quicker, so that we can claim these things back promptly.
Does Mr president think that Britain is a lawless land where you just pick up someone and lock up because you have found evidence? You MUST let the courts do their job! Thats why Britain will remain thorough! They did a thorough job and now we have Mr Ibori serving the queen in jail.

forgiveness:
Now, let's go to the Oldest Empires in West Africa. Remember, i said Empires not kingdom hence i removed the kingdoms on the list.

The Oyo Empire (1400–1895) was a West African empire of what is today western Nigeria. The empire was established by the Yoruba in the 15th century and grew to become one of the largest West African states encountered by colonial explorers. It rose to preeminence through wealth gained from trade and its possession of a powerful cavalry. The Oyo Empire was the most politically important state in the region from the mid-17th to the late 18th century, holding sway not only over other Yoruba states, but also over the Fon kingdom of Dahomey (located in the state now known as the Republic of Benin).

Benin Empire (1440–1897), a large pre-colonial African state of modern Nigeria.

The Kingdom of Dahomey (1600–1900) was a West African kingdom in part of modern Benin

Kaabu Empire (1537–1867), a Mandinka Kingdom of Senegambia (centered on modern northeastern Guinea-Bissau but extending into Casamance, Senegal) that rose to prominence in the region thanks to its origins as a former province of the Mali Empire. After the decline of the Mali Empire, Kaabu became an independent kingdom.

Asante Union (1701–1894), a pre-colonial West African state of what is now the Ashanti Region in Ghana. The empire stretched from central Ghana to present day Togo and Côte d'Ivoire, bordered by the Sahelian Dagomba kingdom to the north (a sub-state of the Mossi), and Dahomey to the east. Today, the Ashanti monarchy continues as one of the constitutionally protected, sub-national traditional states within the Republic of Ghana.

Kong Empire (1710–1894) centered in north eastern Côte d'Ivoire that also encompassed much of present-day Burkina Faso.

Bamana Empire (1712–1896) based at Ségou, now in Mali. It was ruled by the Kulubali or Coulibaly dynasty established c. 1640 by Fa Sine also known as Biton-si-u. The empire existed as a centralized state from 1712 to the 1861 invasion of Toucouleur conqueror El Hadj Umar Tall.

Sokoto Caliphate (1804–1903), an Islamic empire in Nigeria, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’adu Abubakar. Founded during the Fulani Jihad in the early 19th century, it was one of the most powerful empires in sub-Saharan Africa prior to European conquest and colonization. The caliphate remained extant through the colonial period and afterwards, though with reduced power.

Republic of Liberia.
Toucouleur Empire (1848–1893), established as a jihadist stete bu Al hajj Umar Tall in present Mali, upon the conquest of the kingdoms of Segu and Masina.
Wassoulou Empire (1878–1898), a short-lived empire of built from the conquests of Dyula ruler Samori Ture and destroyed by the French colonial army.

CultureRe: "Ooni Of Ife Is Oba Of Benin's Son,Not In The Same Class"-Bini Palace To Alake by Josh316(m): 11:08am On Feb 09, 2016
AnnaKareninaFan:
Following the statement credited to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo that the Oba of Benin is the third in the ranking of kings in the South-West region, the Palace of the Oba of Benin has dismissed this as untrue. The Esogban of Benin and Odionwere of the Kingdom (traditional head), Chief David Edebiri, yesterday, made this disclosure, adding that the Ooni of Ife was a son of the Oba of Benin, and the stool of the Oba of Benin could not be compared with that of any Yoruba King.

Esogban, who is third in command in the palace of the Oba of Benin, said: “We wanted to discard this report as something that was not necessary at all. We do not see how the Alake of Egbaland suddenly woke up to think that the Oba of Benin is also a Yoruba Oba. There is no basis for such classification; Oba of Benin has nothing to do with the Yoruba Obas. It is simply unnecessary, unless they simply want to stir up an unnecessary controversy.

“We are not in Yorubaland. To be frank, it is because many of them are not willing to come up with the truth, the word Oba is alien to Yoruba monarchy; it is not part of their title from time immemorial. For instance, the one they call the Oba of Lagos, these are recent adaptations. In the 50s, there was no Oba of Lagos, what we had was the Eleko of Eko. That is the title of the King there. In Ibadan, you have the Olu Ibadan. You come to Abeokuta, you have the Alake of Egbaland. You come to Oyo, you have the Alaafin of Oyo. In Ilesha, you have the Owa-Obokun of IIesha. So no Yoruba monarch had as part of his titles the word Oba except the Oba of Benin.

“That word Oba is indigenous to Benin. It is only in recent times you find everybody bearing Oba. When the Western Regional conference of traditional rulers took place in Benin City in 1942, go and check the attendance, there was no other monarch in the whole of the Western Region then that bore the title of Oba, except the Oba of Benin. So it is an unnecessary excursion, an unnecessary attempt to turn history upside down by the Alake by classifying the Oba of Benin as third in the hierarchy of kings. Our own traditional history says that the Ooni of Ife was a Benin Prince who wandered from here to Ife, settled there and became the ruler there. That is the position, if they don’t know, they should send people here; we will teach them.

“We will show them landmarks. So this is unnecessary misrepresentation of history. Maybe the Alake wanted to mention a different place and not Benin. The monarchical rulership in this part of the world started from Benin during the era of the Ogisos. It was the son of the last Ogiso, Owodo, that wandered from here to Ife and he became a ruler there, carrying everything about the Benin monarchical system to that place. There is no basis for such classification. The Ooni of Ife by historical facts, is a son of the Oba of Benin, so they are not in the same class. The Oba of Benin is the only one that answers Oba, the rest don’t. But today, we hear Oba here and there, they are all recent adaptations. I am saying categorically that the word Oba is indigenous to Benin and not to Yoruba nation.”

Car TalkRe: High Tech Car Theft Now In Nigeria? Kindly Share Stories/experiences by Josh316(op): 6:45pm On Dec 27, 2015
Well, that makes sense, especially as I told my friend the same thing, that someone with a spare/cloned key must have stolen the ride but then, is it implausible that a tech device can be employed to steal cars?

According to my friend, the man came back home, parked outside his home, spent only ten minutes, and came out to find his car gone. It was on a friday afternoon and there is a mosque in his close. Other cars were parked close by and his was gone within minutes. For one to have the spare key, they would have to know the man well including his schedule. My friend mentioned the fact that when this happened, some people claimed to see two people with backpacks around the vicinity.

I feel we should discuss this probability.
Car TalkHigh Tech Car Theft Now In Nigeria? Kindly Share Stories/experiences by Josh316(op): 6:05pm On Dec 27, 2015
Dear Nairalanders,

I was discussing with my friend last week and he told me of how his neighbour's Honda CRV 2008 model was stolen in front of his house in Garki, Abuja, few minutes after it was parked. I was shocked because I never imagined that high tech car theft could hit Nigeria so soon. This prompted me to search the internet about this and I was shocked that it has been common in Europe and America for a while now. In fact, David Beckham had his two Custom designed BMW X5 cars stolen from his home.

This has gotten me really scared, coming from my experience of car theft in 2010 in Abuja in which my Honda Accord 1998 model was stolen from church. Thankfully, the car was recovered after 48hrs using the tracker I had installed in it. I currently drive a 2010 Honda Accord v6 and up till now, I had this unshakable belief that the car could not be stolen. However, i am now considering buying a pedal lock to add to the tracker installed.

Guys, kindly share your experiences with any high tech thefts you know so that we can learn. I don't mean cars which were snatched oh! We need to be more security conscious these days as boys are not smiling.

PoliticsFraudulent Billing At Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Exposed by Josh316(op): 11:14pm On Nov 30, 2015
I'm writing this to ensure that someone from the AEDC, and Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission hear my voice and take me seriously, before a hefty lawsuit lands on their desks.

I am an Abuja resident, living in a two bedroom apartment at Mbora, Abuja. For close to three years, I have not had a meter. Fortunately, my landlord got a prepaid meter installed at my premises on the 11th of November, 2015.
Prior to this, I had been exploited, and robbed practically by the AEDC Jabi office. They initially started by issuing estimated bills for 800 units consumed, even during the worst of the blackouts in my area. Then the evil tariff increase was implemented early last year, while they continued issuing their billing for their fabled mirage of 800 units consumed in a two bedroom apartment! The theft then took a new twist with crazy increases in the estimated units from 800 in January to 1280 units in Feb, and kept fluctuating between 1000 units and 1360 units as recently as Oct this year.

When my meter was installed on the 11th of November, I had gone to the AEDC office to inform them about the meter which had been installed and to urge them on the need for the bill for November to capture only the first 11 days of the month. I also procured N8000 worth of units which came to 525 units. As i write this, i have used only 380 units of the 525 within the 19 days of the month. NOTHING in my house has changed and i still run my AC and my fridge and freezer are switched on as always. My bulbs have always been energy saving

Now imagine my shock and anger when I returned home today to receive a supposed November bill stating that i had used 1280 units of electricity!!! As in HOWhuh!!!

For starters, I had previously engaged this same AEDC jabi office in a battle over illegal disconnections to my apartment over a couple of unpaid bills which had resulted from my continuous opposition to the blatant exploitation. I had written their office and copied the NERC and their AEDC HQ on the need to review this estimated bill downwards as it was unrealistic and exploitative. They refused to review this.

Now that I have this evidence of exploitation, I have written to their Twitter handle, Facebook and to their customer care and I will write and submit a letter to their HQ, copying the Federal Ministry of Power, EFCC, and NERC, requesting a review and refund of the exploited bills paid as well as compensation for the refusal to review my bills to near appropriate estimates. i am willing to engage AEDC in a legal battle for refund and compensation.

I had been paying N20,000 monthly to just cover the bills which ran into thousands, sometimes as high as N55,000 a month due to the crazy estimated bills.

Thank God i now have a meter, but I shudder to think that these people have milked hundreds of thousands of unmetered consumers for services mostly NOT rendered. This is wrong.

I will update the house on how the battle goes. If MTN could be fined, AEDC CAN be made to give account of their evil exploitation as a lesson and a warning to other Electricity Distribution Companies.

What was on the ballot paper ?

APC or Audu ?

When Amaechi replaced Omeha after the election Metuh and PDP were on vacation ?
The circumstances are clearly different.

Amaechi contested the primaries, won and was illegally substituted BEFORE the elections by His Royal Highness, Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR. The supreme court held that Amaechi won the primaries and his substitution was illegal and he was validly reinstated knowing that Omehia was a usurper to the throne. If Omehia had lost, it would be the same... Amaechi would have lost because he was the original owner of the ticket NOT Omehia

In this case, Audu won the ticket, contested, and had NOT been declared winner before his sudden death.

INEC ought to re-do the process. However, PDP needs to go to the supreme court for a constitutional interpretation of what should happen.

Weeks later, the photo mix grew into real photoshoot involving the both. She no longer call as she used to. She even ignore most of my calls. OP,

Please accept my condolences.

As one who experienced a burglary in my house in Abuja, in April, where we lost my laptop, phones, my brand new PS4 console which was a valentines gift from wifey and some cash, trust me, those items wont be seen again. They dont sell the phones and laptops for use, but for spare parts as they are not traceable then onwards.

Just accept your fate and move on. The probability of recovering them even in developed countries is usually small. The police will make u spend more sef. In my time I was asked to bring 100k to track a phone which was worth 40k. There was no point spending cash which could replace the items so we refused the offer. We have reinforced our Burglary windows and installed night vision cameras in the house and outside.

You may not have the means for this but think of ingenious ways to deter future burglars. Remember, it is possible the burglar knows u well.

uselessgoat:
[b]The greatest irony of all is that, generally speaking, the Igbo detest Awolowo so much and have done everything that is physically possible to malign and discredit him since 1967. Yet this was the man whose party went into an alliance with them at the most critical point in our history (between 1964 and 1966) and who wanted the Yoruba to work closely with them. Due to Ojukwu's greed and willingness to be president of Biafra, He failed to honor the terms of the Aburi Accord signed in Ghana which eventually led to the civil war. The Igbos do not teach their children all the good works of Awolowo to the Igbo tribe and instead they tell them that Awolowo was the devil incarnate, a murderer of children, a genocidal maniac and an Igbo hater who ended up committing suicide out of frustration. These of course were all lies and well orchestrated fabrications that were designed to rubbish the man’s memory and legacy. They demonized Chief Awolowo, their friend and political ally, and on the night of Jan 15th 1966, during the course of the Ifejuna-led Igbo coup, amongst many others, they murdered Chief S.L. Akintola and Sir Ahmadu Bello (the Premiers of the Western and Northern Regions respectively) who were both their political adversaries, who saw through them at an early stage and who had open contempt for them. This is one of the reasons why u see many bitter Igbos of this generation on Nairaland venting their anger and frustration and screaming they want Biafra due to the lies they have been fed with.

Till today only the Igbo can explain why they hated and still hate Awolowo and Yoruba so much. This is because he was their friend and ally when the crisis in the Western Region took place. I guess that their hatred stems from the role that he and the Yoruba played during the civil war. Yet I believe that Col. Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Igbo rebel leader, made the greatest mistake by attempting to secede at the time that he did (against Awolowo’s advice) and worst still he attacked the Western Region with his Biafran forces even when many of our people had sympathy for their cause and plight.

It was Ojukwu that betrayed Awolowo and the Yoruba and not the other way around. This is because they fired the first shot and tried to overwhelm, capture and enslave us by attacking our territory with their forces. They overwhelmed the people of the south south and Midwest very easily but when they got to the Western region at a place called Ore they were stopped in their tracks by the Yoruba forces and the famous 3rd Marine Commando which was a 98 per cent Yoruba fighting force. That is how they were prevented from entering Yoruba land and they were pushed back, inch by inch, from the Midwest and south south (by the same 3rd Marine Commando) back into Igbo land until they were broken, defeated and forced to surrender.

The moral of the story is Yoruba's have always stood by the Igbos and we always loved them until Ojukwu became greedy and decided to break away hereby betraying our trust and support for the Igbos.

Say no to Biafra

God bless our united Nigeria.
