For those who want to turn this into some unintelligent insult spewing retarded comment brewing thread, sorry for you... You don't need to insult anyone to get your opinion across.

I have many brave family and friends serving in the army and to me, the actions of the soldiers in Gwoza was to say the least saddening.

Like Sirusblack has alluded in his post, air support is key, but what about the ground troops who have weaponry and tanks and let it go without a fight? Someone said that some Army commanders sympathetic to BH are tactically arming them for the future and all we do here is talk about the messenger and not the message. Sorry for those of you.

I planned to join the Army like some of my cousins, but i was frustrated from joining. Still, I love the Army despite whatever shortcomings and if somehow there was a civilian programme for the Army, I would gladly enlist (I'm gone past the age of Direct Short Service enlistment)

LIke some one earlier said, the recruitment process needs to be reviewed and the Airforce needs serious air frames quickly. Until then, the troops in the ground need to support each other and apply tact and gallantry

Sealeddeal: are Boko Haram members going to throw away the weapons they captured from Nigerian army? They always use them effectively. What stops Nigerian army from using them?
Thank you! Even from the video, the army currently has mortar guns and mortars. they also have the exact type of heavy machine guns the boko pigs use. They can engage them but they have refused to engage them.

Please see the link and judge. Ignore the first bits and start from 24minutes...

PoliticsWe Have A Lot Of Cowards In The Nigeria Army by Josh316(op): 11:27pm On Aug 30, 2014
We have a serious issue with our nation's army. I just watched the Attack on Gwoza Army base and what I saw is shocking and left me speechless!

The Boko Haram pigs seized FIVE ARMOURED TANKS (Not APC carriers, Tanks with tracks like Caterpillar trucks and cannons) and cartons and boxes of ammunition both light and heavy ammunition. This is coming from the same soldiers who keep complaining that they are poorly equipped. And I dare say, what equipment again if not bullets to feed the guns and mortars and shells to shell the advancing enemy? Aside the weapons and tanks captured, about 10 soft skinned vehicles including brand new hiluxes which were used to cart away these ammunition. It is worthy to note that the video captured some of the soldiers RUNNING away into the hills.

I am not a soldier nor do I claim to be knowledgeable in military tactics but the 'tactical maneuver' touted by the military command to justify the current attitude of soldiers refusing to fight and rather scampering is really worrisome! It worries me because slowly and steadily, these boko pigs are carrying out their campaign and will soon decide to try to march down south. We can argue all we want and play the ethnic card and say its a Northern Problem, or e no concern me because I'm from the west or east, but one day we might wake up and discover these guys at our doorsteps in Onitsha, Aba, Lagos, Ibadan, wielding weapons and taking away our freedom.

We need to make noise now to ensure that the Govt adopts a more radical approach to recruitment of soldiers and give severe punishments to Army commanders who allow their Army bases fall so cheaply to the enemy. I'm really angry right now and I think things need to change.

Please let our comments be non-political or religious based, but sensible and rational...

HealthRe: Doctors Hit Lagos Streets To Protest Mass Sack (PHOTOS) by Josh316(m): 10:21pm On Aug 18, 2014
PointB: Before we get swayed by the doctors tantrum, let's not lose sight of their 24 key demand.

Summary of the doctors demands:

1. Create more offices (and more money) for us
2. Don't send anyone to monitor the money
3. Skip level 12, we can't wait to collect more money
4. Refer to Nos 2
5. Pay us 22 years areas of some money, and then increase our wage
6. Expand the health bill so we can make more money
7. Appoint one of us surgeon general so that he can protect us and fight for our money
8. Adjust our level so that we can make more money
9. Increase our call duty allowance by 90%
10. Adjust upward our specialist allowance
11. Increase our hazard allowance from 5k/mnth to 100k/mnth
12. Release circular showing our allowances, all of us must be included
13. When we need to import In-Vitro Diagnostics, IVDs equipment, we don't want knowledgeable institution to check/license it.
14. Tell us our retirement age (obviously they don't want to retire, more money to be made in active duty)
15. We want more funding for our residency training
16. For peace to reign pay our colleagues in Owerri what you agreed
17. We must continue to enjoy the goodies in IPPIS platform
18. Attempt to prevent our collective bargaining (for more money) will be resisted
19. Lab scientist should stop intimidating us (we are the big boys, we make more money)
20. Stop short paying us for any reason (we want all our money in full)
21. Do for us what they do for doctors abroad
22. Set aside more money to furnish our offices (hospitals)
23. Medical director must be a medical doctor (It can not be a pharmacist, dentist, and never a lab scientist). We must chop alone
24. Stop violating our 2009 agreement. Pay us our money!!

There you have it. The two dozen demands of our doctor in plain language. The demands causing our brethren to die at home, and in hospital while doctors stay away. These are the demands making our people to resort to bathing and drinking salt water to death, as they run scare of Ebola Virus Disease, while our doctors prefer to stay at home and wait for their money.

Our doctors have sworn to protect their moneys, while our collective health is the ransom! If gold can rust, pray, what will happen to Iron?

PoliticsRe: Has The Power Situation Improved Since It Was Sold? by Josh316(m): 11:54am On Aug 11, 2014
OP,

First of all, you need to tell us where your area is. Thats the only way to compare any challenges you have.

Secondly, Nigerians need to understand that this is a new era. You dont have to sit down and keep sulking about the power situation. Walk up to your service provider to discuss the challenges you have in your area, rather than assume that it is a general issue. it could well be limited to your sub-station.

Two years ago, the light situation in my area was very bad. I naturally assumed it was a general thing till i went to the office of the Electricity company to ask what the issue was. They now informed me that they were carrying out some equipment overhaul and it would take a few months to complete the project.

Now, the light situation in my area is fairly stable and way better than two years ago.

Residents in Lagos will have more issues to deal with because the defunct NEPA did a horrible job with substations and power lines. Most of the high density areas will experience more blackouts because they will need to overhaul some sub-stations and transmission lines completely. No thanks to illegal connections and obsolete equipment.
SportsRe: Chika Amalaha Tested Positive Because She Drank ‘Zobo’ - Coach by Josh316(m): 1:06pm On Aug 08, 2014
The coach may be right.

Mind you, she tested positive to the usual masking agents of drugs NOT any performance enhancing drugs. Due to the newer types of designer drugs developed by some pharmaceutical companies for some dubious athletes and the new practice of using diuretics to erase evidence of such use hence masking the presence of the trace components, the World Anti-Doping Agency decided to test instead for the presence of these masking agents which are diuretics. Now Thiazide is a class of diuretics and that was what the young girl tested positive for.

Funny enough, many people do not know that Zobo is made from the commonly known HIBISCUS flower. This flower has many health benefits including lowering blood pressure due to its diuretic properties. Diuretics are commonly prescribed to hypertensives to reduce blood volume and reduce pressure subsequently.

If indeed she went ahead to consume this zobo drink, it shows that her coaches were abreast of vital information and funny enough must be commended (strange yeah?) and the girl must now learn to listen to her coaches.

HealthRe: I Started The Saltwater Ebola Cure Rumor I Truely Am Sorry by Josh316(m): 12:12pm On Aug 08, 2014
DRealGeesam1: My confession and apology

Dear nairalanders and everyone who have heard of the ebola Prevention "News", My name is Adesewa, I am coming out clean because what started has a joke has escalated into the unprecedented.
How it started
Yesterday i was with friend in her hostel, we were talking about this Ebola out break, when one of my friends, Funke (she introduced me to nairaland) brought the idea of Us playing a prank on our friends. The first suggestion was to tell people that aloe very could cure Ebola, but we thought it would sound too ridiculous so we forgot about it.

Later that even an idea came to me (i now regret that i did it).
I decided to send a BBM broadcast message to my friends, telling them that the Ministry of Health has asked everyone to bathe with salt and warm water and drink some of it.
I sent the message 7:08pm yesterday

Later this midnight i started getting calls and messages that i should drink salt water and bath with it.

All efforts to tell people that i was the one who started the joke failed. Only my friends who i mentioned earlier believed me. Even my mum could me this morning, i did not know what to tell her.

I am using this medium to beg you all to warn and tell everyone, before they drink salt and damage their health.

Please dont be hash on me. I know this has gone out of hand. I never knew it will be this serious. Some have even added to the original message i sent.
If it is indeed true, trust me, you deserve jail time. You have no idea what possible harm drinking salt water can do especially in a country where people are walking blood pressure timebombs. Also, spreading rumours, false information is actually a crime and if this was a serious country, they could track you down and you could quickly become a convict just like that.

Better send another broadcast reversing the earlier one and apologizing for this expensive prank

Hmmmm..

One thing bothers me...

If we recall, with Amaechi as NGF chairman, he controlled 19 states while Jang controlled 17. The cry was: "HOW CAN 17 BE GREATER THAN 19?"

Now Ekiti has joined the 17 making it 18=18

If Nyako gets impeached, and his deputy joins the Jang faction, then it will be Amaechi 17 and Jang 19...

Will 17 still be greater than 19 in reverse? grin grin grin

Just a mischievous thot

I've just gone on google to verify this information and guess what?

The Nigerian U-14 team WON the Under 14 handball world championship in 2012 which held in SWEDEN

PoliticsRe: You’re Peddling Falsehood, Okonjo-iweala To Ameachi by Josh316(m): 1:11pm On Dec 04, 2013
Symphony007: There is a partnership between the rivers state government and Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for which they have paid NDDC about N960 million, for the Mother and Child Hospital and NDDC is expected to bring about N900 million to make it N1.8 billion for the hospital. The stadium is about to be completed and many more.
You just quoted this verbatim from Amaechi's previous statement.

The question everyone is asking is that how come it's now hes realising the people of Rivers state will die from lack of water despite huge resources to his state from both the federation acct as well as the state's interna revenue system? Granted he has built and commissioned schools and roads, but pinning the lack of water solely on Okonjo is a lil too far with politicking. Amaechi could learn a lil bit about subtle negotiations rather than harassing everyone on the pages of the newspaper. Initially it was the first lady who he kept screaming about, then it was the turn of the Commissioner of Police who he kept haranguing and lampooning till it became stale news. Is the CP not still the CP there till NOW? Why the sudden silence? He has found a new target to lampoon in the person of Okonjo...

Sincerely, I think Amaechi should be a bit more gentlemanly in the way he attacks people who dont toe his line of actions or thoughts. I don't hear Fashola or Oshiomole scream the way he does despite them being in an opposition party. Mind you, Amaechi started screaming even before he jumped ship!

So whats his REAL problem??

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Does Not Have 100m Destitute – Presidency by Josh316(m): 12:54pm On Nov 21, 2013
Let us slow down people and look at the terms used by the World bank official...

She said 100Million Nigerians are DESTITUTE. Now what does destitute mean?

Utterly lacking; devoid: Young recruits destitute of any experience.
2. Lacking resources or the means of subsistence; completely impoverished

Another dictionary describes the word as:
extremely poor and lacking the means to provide for oneself.
Now, the contest is that 100M Nigerians do NOT have ANY means of providing for even food to eat for one day. Is this the true picture?

Living in a one bedroom apartment with 5 or more people is NOT destitution as the apartment is NOT free and someone pays the rent.

Selling Gala is not destitution by the definition given as somehow, the Gala or purewater was bought in order to be resold.

DESTITUTION is complete LACK that is; NO SHISHI at all to even buy pure water. we have millions of destitutes but 100M?? That statement was made out of probable ignorance of our population size. India has a destitute population almost half the population of Nigeria! (http://kashmirdiasporaa..com/2013/03/70-million-people-live-in-destitute.html) And they have a population of 1 billion or more!

SO Let us not rush to attack the special adviser, some of these world bank people make some assumptions of fallacy based on their "ignorance" of Nigeria.

However, Poverty in Nigeria is real and this does NOT excuse Govt's inability to ensure Job creation.
That woman entered the Chimes' family through the back
door. To those that know how it works, such women
always end up like this.
You really are not expecting evil to last forever.
Here is the thru scenario.
Scene 1.
Chime has a daughter, who also happen to have a runs
gal as bossom friend. In trust, she takes runs gal home.
Runs gal sees stupifying affluence. Her runs brain goes to
work. Granted, Sullivan is randy, thinks he has seen all
pants colors. This time he underestimated this particular
runs gal's greed and desperation.
Scene 2.
Plot thickens. Schemings here and there as runs gal
makes every evil move possible to break into Chime's
family by hook or crook. She goes to Babalawo,
Spiritualists etc.
Scene 3.
As the result of runs gal's evil plans takes effect, Chime's
daughter's BOSSOM FRIEND she once innocently took
home suddenly becomes her STEP MOTHER. Battle line
was drawn and Things were no longer at ease.
Scene 4.
Runs gal is from runs family. Her parents and brothers will
do anything for money, even if it means sacrificing their
runs sister. They were all drawn into the gold rush.
Chime's family went to God in prayers. Their prayer point
was: That God should make the scales fall off their
Daddy's eyes. Prayers answered.
Scene 5.
Its vendetta time as Sullivan realises he's been conned by
runs gal. First payback move was to pregnate runs gal's
sister to spite her and her family of wolves. This was also
to prove to her that her juju aint working no more.
Runs gal goes for Sullivans life. He fell ill but as God will
have it he survived.
Scene 6.
Runs gal's juju backfires. She becomes mad. And is finally
barnished and ejected from the position she once usurped,
Wails and tears is heard everywhere in runs gal's family all
THINGS FELL APART. While is thunderous jubilation in
Chime's family as they thank God for their liberation and
family reunion.

The hitherto media recluse Chime was forced to admit d press n human rights commision into their home to investigate. He gave them unhindered access to her. They came to say dt d bone of contension was prolly in d choice of docs who shd treat her. Firstly, dis woman denied she didn't contact Falana. D next tin she was accusing d HRC for writting negative tins abt her health nhad brought her image to disrepute.
