A Nigeria-bound heroin concealed inside HIV kits, have been intercepted by security operatives in Kenya. The he drug was impounded following a tip off, that there was a consignment which was declared as medicament and destined for Lagos, Nigeria.

The Nigeria-bound heroin concealed inside HIV kits was then intercepted by detectives in Kenya, after a search was conducted on the consignment.  According to detectives at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Kenya, on Tuesday, the large quantity of heroin was concealed inside HIV-1/2 sachets.

A Nigerian lady identified as Aisha has been caught, after stealing money and other valuables at a birthday party in Benin, Edo State Capital.

The suspect was accused of hacking into an account via mobile phone where she withdrew about N180,000, stealing phones, wigs, wristwatches among other items. The Federal Government, FG has renamed Ebonyi University Teaching Hospital to Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki after its approval. Alhaji Ahmed Ramalan, Chairman of the hospital’s board who confirmed that FG has renamed Ebonyi University Teaching Hospital, said the renaming takes off with immediate effect.

According to him  Prof. Isaac Adewole, the Minister of Health, gave the approval on behalf of the government as it is important to bring the action to the notice of the people of Ebonyi and Nigerians.

“We hope that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will unveil the hospital’s new logo when he visits before the May 29 swearing-in of elected leaders in the country.“This is a big achievement in the “next level” mantra of the present administration and it is hoped that the renaming will make the hospital attain greater heights,” he told newsmen.

Buhari's prayer warrior Sheikh Ahmad Sulaiman, who spent 13 days in kidnappers' den after he was abducted along Sheme-Kankara road in Katsina State, has disclosed that he was released in exchange for their leader’s mother. Buhari's prayer warrior who recounted his ordeal in an interview with Daily Trust and further disclosed that the kidnappers released them in exchange for their leader's mother, said he was able to recite the Qur’an from the beginning to the end at least five and a half times while in captivity. 

On how he was released, he said;
I was told they were offered N33million, but the money was not completed. They threatened that even if the ransom was paid, they would kill us since one of them was arrested. Somehow they became very terrified. On the night before our release, they came to us and said we should quickly wear our shoes and come out as they learnt that a group was coming to attack them because of us.We were escorted to a remote location by two of them who were not carrying any weapon, with the intention that if it was confirmed that it was that other group they fought earlier, they would show us where we would follow to escape.

It was later realised that those who came were the people that would take us to swap with the mother of the leader of the gang, who was arrested for that purpose.That was how we were brought, on one side by the kidnapers, and on the other side, the security agents brought the mother of the gang leader and we were swapped in the presence of some military personnel at Danmusa in Katsina State.We learnt that the mother spent seven days in the hands of the security agents because she initially denied that the man was her son. But eventually, that was the reason for our freedom.

Lai Mohammed  while appearing before the House of Representatives’ Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, disclosed that Nigeria is denied foreign loans over herdsmen/farmers’ clashes. According to the Minister of Information and culture, the Federal Government had to engage an international public relations consultant to manage the bad press following the misrepresentation of the clashes between herdsmen and farmers by the foreign media.

He further revealed that they had to send delegations to the United Kingdom and the United States, to execute media campaigns. Lai Mohammed who was asked to explain the engagement of the foreign media and PR lobby consultancy contracts awarded by the Federal Government, disclosed how Nigeria  was denied foreign loans over herdsmen/farmers’ clashes.

He said; “This government has been denied loans because of the misinformation that have been spread out there. The world has become a global village and what happens in Nigeria today reverberates all over the world. And we, in the administration, face a lot of challenges, especially from the comments of the foreign media, from the sometimes hostile positions of foreign governments, even foreign parliaments. So, it is the duty of the Ministry of Information to regularly lobby and address international media in the countries.

“I remember that in 2018 we made two trips to the UK and two trips to the US, and these two trips helped tremendously in actually helping the people in the Diaspora and foreign governments to understand the real dynamics of the herdsmen/farmers clashes.“Until we got there, the impression held by many of them was that the thing was Christians/Muslims, North/South and that time we had to book for interviews with CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, Reuters and AFP. I think it is an important part of governance so that if you cannot mould their opinions, at least it can give them the opportunity of hearing our own side of the story.”

Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria's Minister of Transportation who spoke during a Channels TV interview, disclosed that all APC members are God-fearing. According to the former Governor of Rivers State, one of the qualities of becoming a member of the APC is that one must be god-fearing.
