Nairaland / General / New Passport Application In Nigeria by jossy404: 5:05pm On Jan 21
Has anybody successfully applied on the new Nigerian passport application portal and carried out correction of data as announced by the Minister of Information Tunji Ojo two weeks ago.

Can you tell us the process if it was seamless as reported and that states can now do correction of data instead of travelling to Abuja now?

Please can you give a step by step guide on renewing US passport in Nigeria as well as the required documents needed.

I will appreciate your response.

Thanks in advance.

Gracemum:
So for other mums and dads who may be wondering, the answer is No. If one or both parents will not accompany the minor to the passport appointment, get the hard copies of the notarized docs sent to the person that would accompany the child (no scanned notarized docs. I was hopeful, given the current delay in services of DHL). You also need to use a US based Notary public in which ever country you reside. Hope this helps someone else.

The OP actually has enough time at hand to be answering question about her age and health condition. Are you her family doctor?

Simple question require simple and direct answer. If you dont have a reasonable answer to the question, the best bet is to keep quiet and read on.

Is that difficult to do @SmartKitty?

Always remember.....

Capitalism does not permit an even flow of economic resources. With this system, a small privileged few are rich beyond conscience, and almost all others are doomed and born to be poor. Bros I have carried out many transactions both medically and even with government institutions that has a clause like "if you pay upfront you get this discount but if you pay after the service no discounts for you" does that makes it illegal? Or is it because it is birth tourism and it involves citizenship?

We need to always tell ourselves the truth at times. Is it only in US that discount is illegal? Aren't discounts in hospital bills applicable in other countries?

The tax payback or what is it been called you collect at the airport after showing all the receipts of all your shopping and purchases too should be illegal too.......

and not only medical bills..........

Dare834:

Read up you’ll get enough evidence or ask a citizen. That's the fraud on taxpayers ,Trump and citizens are complaining about in birth tourism. It’s not a self pay discount, it’s charged back. If not why do you’ve to pay it back if it was really a legal discount for non-tax payers?

I’m not against birth tourism, that’s why I’m here ,but let’s be honest it’s not A LEGAL DISCOUNT.

If not it’s America ,the doctors would have dragged them to court by now because it’s affecting them financially.

People get as much as 8,000$ -10,000$ discount they’re not aware of until they request for zero balance letter for visa renewal, Newyork and Virginia for example.

So all the discount received by you from the supermarkets are not legal and they are been charged back to the government.......and are been covered by taxpayers....?

Kwantinue..........

Dare834:

Unfortunately those discounts are not legal. That’s what a lot of people don’t know or are not aware of they charge it back to the government. It’s tax payers money and that’s crux of the problem. It’s aid coined as self pay discount .

Same thing Twood does........generalizing.....many of you Now that the chicken has roosted are many Nigerians no more supporting dodgy ideas of getting US visa.....has the ban make them change or what? Or since they can no more birth in US for citizenship, have they now become a change person?

Like I always said, your freedom of speech, your country, your rule, your visa......life goes on .....that ban will not prevent me from looking for where I can get Nigeria garri in Houston .........Lolzzz

justwise:

Yes i do and i keep supporting anybody who is not afraid to call a spade a spade no matter how harsh it comes out.

I'm shocked that many of you here are surprised about the ban, many of you here supported all sorts of dodgy ideas of getting US visa and anybody that speaks against such idea will be called ITK and holy than thou, now the chicken has come home to roost.

Justwise is the moderator of this thread and he has the power to ban........but unfortunately he himself has supported Twood by his comments several times on this thread.....so don't expect too much.....

peacenigeria:

I’m surprised that this forum allows for Twoods blatant racist remarks without any type of repercussion or banning. I know that signaling out of races as Twoods does regularly would not go unnoticed if this forum was based in the USA, so I’m hard pressed to understand why its allowed here since Twoods is basically insulting our “corrupt” race in our very own country.

I have to admit that we may not all be corrupt, but it does look like we are all cowards for allowing Twoods to express him/herself about us in this manner.

So how come you always emphasize on the few corrupt Nigerians as "all Nigerians" .

And when you say Nigerians are corrupt agreed no quarrel, but can you allow those people that want to become citizens of your most Honest country in the universe legally to do that without mind painting them corrupt?

TWoods:

Nigerians are corrupt... the Hispanics are much worse and more brazen. That was the whole point... but of course I trust you to deliberately misrepresent the point. Plenty of Nigerians obtain US citizenship here in Texas every day, legally... without lying and covering up pregnancies at border posts.

Twood , when and why did you suddenly become so soft on your sterns on Nigerians going for childbirth in US?

So it's all about citizenship all this while and not that Nigerians are so corrupt.........

Now I understand ........well done...

TWoods:

Or you mean they obtain their visas well in advance, with the intent of using it for childbirth later - knowing full well that they are protected by an active Hispanic lobby. Or simply cross the border illegally and show up at hospitals in El Paso?

Frankly the childbirth issue isn’t a Nigerian problem... it’s a purely a Hispanic problem... and Nigerians are the unfortunate collateral damage. Hispanics can simply disobey the law and walk across the border while Nigerians have to stand behind humiliating visa interviews. Thanks for ruining it for the rest of us.

I made application for visa. The embassy gave me 24hours deadline to provide all the secondary documents.

However, I don't have most of these documents in place. Morealso, they sent me mail today being Sunday. Before I get all the documents, the 24hours would have lapsed by tomorrow morning.

Now the agent handling my application is threatening me that if I don't provide the secondary documents, they will place a visa ban on me.

This is why I am confused.

I want to know whether they can actually place visa ban on me for not providing documents or they will just not proceed with my application.

Do they actually give 24hours deadline for submission of all documents or there is something fishy I need to be wary of?

Your response will be appreciated.
