Onnoghen will have his day in court
He may not honour the invitation.. Reason is that that substantive law will not give the tribunal the jurisdiction for his trial...you watch and see...the 157 SANS on the CJN's back may be the ones to appear there and am sure their argument will be centered on jurisdiction... Let's watch and see

Court of appeal does not make laws, neither is it the highest court in the law
but even if this were so, mr onnoghen has the right and more than enough capacity to present his defense
I disagree with your submission... What do u mean that court of appeal does not enact laws? OK the substantive law by an appeal court is still a law aside the constitution law that is been upheld because that law has not been vacated yet by the highest court of law in this state..that appeal court ruling gives the NJC the right to look into the CJN matter...so what are you saying?

Stop insulting people. There is nothing like that in the constitution
Go and read the constitution in between the lines and it's seems as though you do not know that an appeal court ruling emphasising this same constitution with regards the CJN and the NJC, have not been vacated yet..so that law is still sacrosanct!

It is upon the basis of the substantive laws, that wike is basing his argument....

It's gonna be a clash of two laws!

If Wike said this, I wonder what he is afraid of. CJN is not above the law. Let him prove himself innocent. This has nothing to do with the Niger Delta people. The law is the bases. Let the law be upheld.
But funny enough another same law reads that the CJN can be tried by the NJC! So which law supercedes the other...because that law saying NJC has the right to attend to CJN matters have not been vacated yet..so it's gonna be a clash of two laws!
PoliticsRe: Everybody Is Hungry, Including Me - Amaechi by Jowanson: 8:36am On Jan 14, 2019

https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Amaechi.jpeg

The Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi, has told Nigerians complaining about hunger in the land that he himself is hungry.

He said the opposition Peoples Democratic Party caused the hunger in the land by stealing money from the nation’s purse while in power.

Amaechi said this at the APC presidential campaign rally which was held in Bauchi on Saturday.

He urged Nigerians to demand that the PDP return the nation’s stolen money.

The former Rivers State governor also claimed that the opposition was broke and hungry.

He said that was why the party wanted to return to power by all means.

Amaechi said, “I was speaking to my friend from the other divide and he said you are hungry, I said ‘yes, if they did not steal the money they stole, you would have had enough food.’

“The money they stole is what is making me hungry. Tell them, to bring the money.

“The PDP stole $2bn to prosecute 2015 elections but we still defeated them. They are broke, they are hungry and they want to come back to steal.

“The PDP members know that they are broke and because of that, they are looking for cheap source of funds.

“When they say there is no food, they want to steal money and they cannot do that because the President has said that public money is not for any individual.”

The minister of transportation wondered what the PDP did with the money it got for 16 years when oil was $114 per barrel.

He claimed that when the PDP was in power, he could not sleep with his two eyes closed even in the Rivers State Government House allegedly because of security challenges.

He said the situation had changed under Buhari.

The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said President Muhammadu Buhari knew how to catch thieves “and that is why the thieves have all gone to the PDP but even if they go to the PDP, they must be arrested.”

Whenever this Amaechi talks, I usually laugh in APCenglish! Was he not a strong member of PDP and part of his narrative? Even the people listening to him and taking all what he said hook ,line and sinker are very ignorant...I call them ignoramus!

It's a pity!
But looking at his narrative objectively, want Amaechi is saying is totally wrong.... Comparing the food prices during PDP era and now , Amaechi lied!

Amaechi is a hypocrite! And anyone that believes his lie is also a hypocrite!

APC is a party of hypocrites!

PDP thugs wearing our vests to attack innocent citizens, Kwara APC cries out

We have information that PDP thugs, true to our predictions since December 2018, have now mass-produced vests and other APC logos with which they are going around Kwara State to destroy things and attack innocent citizens. This is an old tactic for which the PDP and its patrons are known.

We recently alerted the people of Kwara to this evil tactic of the PDP. Armed with guns and other deadly weapons, they are wearing the same APC vests and filming themselves as they carried out this act of violence against Kwarans. An example was what they did today (Sunday 13 January) in Surulere area of Ilorin in the state capital. This was the same tactic they deployed in 2003 and other election periods. These are panicky measures adopted by the drowning dynasty which has lost the battle of ideas.

We remain committed to running a peaceful, issues-based and decent campaign. Again, we call on the security agencies to arrest this ugly trend. We reiterate our position that politicians must seek people's votes through superior arguments and campaign pledges, not through violence and propaganda for which the PDP is now known all over Nigeria. The drowning dynasty must run its campaign on its records in office, not through violence and intimidation. Enough is enough. O To Ge

Buhari said he has declared his assets and directed Nigerians to approach the CCB who refused to make the assets known to Nigerians.

Now, CJN Onnoghen declared his assets and the CCB is expected not to disclose content without the approval of the the accused.

I want to ask, who showed the APC group that filed the petition the assets declaration form of Onnoghen?
That is why I feel there is a political undertone to it? The courts have not been favouring the APC so far..so someone somewhere decided to be the one to rubbish the CJN by disclosing this to CCB...money have changed hands and lots if it secretly.

Someone raised a posse that when buhari was asked about his assets declaration, he referred those asking to the CCB... when CCB.,, was asked they declined making the content of Buhari's file known without his permission. The question now is, how did the writer of this so called petition find out what was in the CJN's ,, assets declaration form?
Secondly, of all the millions of people in Nigeria the writer of this petiton happens to be a known ally of President Buhari?
My friend I still feel and believe that this is not unconnected to the APC court case in rivers....

I believe some powerful cabal are digging up his dust just to indict him and make him useless while they put in their person that may rule in their favour.

I have a very strong feeling that this may be the underlying factor..

Since 2016 up till now. They never raised up the petition..why now? And at this critical period and when the court cases are not in favour of the APC

I smell an APC rat !

Hmmm... Honestly I am not happy at all that the whole CJN has to be arraigned just like that. But it is better to be on the side of the law even when it is not convenient.

Can some people also investigate other public figures whether they have disobeyed the same law. The fight against corruption must be total.

Ganduje is a governor enjoying immunity from prosecution. He can only be trialed after he leaves office as governor. See the case of fomer governor Fayose.

This case against Justice Onoghe apears straightforward and he might be guilty as charged.

What has his Lordship been waiting for since, to correct the anomalies since he became the CJ even when the FG has been alleging that the Judiciary is aiding and abetting corruption

Forgetness/ignorance of law is not and excuse.
Due process was not followed in indicting and convicting the CJN...that is the bone of contention... No one says he should not face his music... There are procedures that was neglected in hurriedly convicting him within 3 days! No naa...no sane person will support the CJN blunder but carry out the indictment and conviction in a due process manner..why the hurry? And neglecting some aspect in the fed constitution with regards the CJN office

People have been sentenced to prison for committing lesser crime by the same onnoghen. shocked

I'm expecting PDP to tell him to resign the way they said to Adeosun so he can face his charges very well but for where, politicizing everything is all they're good at.
Read the post in between the lines and read your post.. Does it correlate?

Did Saraki say the CJN should not face his music? Saraki said a due process should be followed as stipulated by the constitution concerning the CJN....not this kangaroo indictment and conviction..that happened within 3 days!

Was Kemi indicted and convicted within 3 days? Was she not pampered and packaged back to the UK?

The APC led government is exhibiting a double standard in fighting corruption

Has Babachir been indicted and convicted? Is Babachir not moving around freely even to the extent he was invited for a state function in the villa....

No one says the APC should not fight corruption but fight it transparently and that is the position Saraki is.

PoliticsRe: Onnoghen: PDP Is Sympathetic To Corruption, Says APC by Jowanson: 3:08pm On Jan 13, 2019
Ecstasy154:
The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is sympathetic to corruption.

The ruling party said this in reaction to a statement credited to the PDP.

The opposition party had said that the allegations against Walter Onnoghen, chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), is a move by the APC government to constitute “a constitutional crisis” and “instill fear in judicial officers” to do its bidding.

TheCable had earlier reported that there were moves to remove Onnoghen before the elections.

The CJN has been accused of false assets declaration.

But in a statement on Sunday, Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC spokesman, said the fight against corruption remains a cardinal promise made by his party to the electorate.

“Following reports of the move to prosecute Justice Walter Onnoghen, chief justice of the federation, over an alleged infraction on the Code of Conduct laws, the swift statement by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemning the purported move has again exposed the Party as one with a natural inclination to rise up in defence of cases of alleged corruption,” he said.

“Resort to baseless postulations anytime issues of corruption is leveled against public officers only confirm what Nigerians already know. PDP and corruption are siamese twins that are difficult to separate from each other.

“One would have thought that the PDP will call for impartial investigations when corruption cases are levelled against public officers, but spinning falsehoods and conspiracies remains the opposition party’s favourite past time.

“The APC administration will not hesitate to investigate and prosecute any public officer if and when such is indicted for corruption.

“Achieving acceptable elections in all democratic climes is a collective effort which require the contributions and support of all well-meaning Nigerians, political parties, institutions and sundry interests.

“Commendably, in successive elections conducted under the APC administration, the party has played by the rules, which has led to credible elections. This cannot be said of the PDP era when state institutions were deployed to manipulate the electoral process.”

Issa-Onilu said the APC is committed to ensuring that the forthcoming elections go on record as one of the freest, most credible and peaceful elections in the country.

I feel they wanna nail him because of the court outcomes of rivers APC crisis....I have a strong feeling that its not unconnected...OK when the former finance minister declared a fake NYSC document , after she was busted, what did they do to her? Nothing.... They packaged her properly and made her leave for the UK.... What of babachir...has he been arraigned? Its the double standards that also gives a huge concern

$740,000 = N226 million by the way...

Nobody is saying buhari should not do what he wants to do but he should do it by following due process...why bypassing the NJC? Remember the judiciary is suppose to be independent.. Appointment in that area is based on nomination from NJC..you can opine otherwise but this is my opinion.

The issue is not about stealing but about following the due process in nailing the thief...you mean in Buhari regime, thieves have not been caught? What happened to them? Were they hurriedly convicted as criminals or were the ever convicted? The double standard in Buhari regime is a problem...Babachir is still roaming about even making political statements in favour of APC... In the real sense, should such person be allowed to do so? Former minister of finance was caught in fake credentials, what happened to her? Was she not well packaged and sent back abroad? Did she face any criminal charge or disgraced? Let's call a spade a spade..... There are serious double standard issues in Buhari regime......
