you are the one that needs to sharpen up. other sectors where money is stolen, do they have subsidies?? how can you believe that subsidy makes money available to be stolen??

when you say price fixing is the reason investors are not comming in, then your ignorance is inimitable.

Jah Man: And what does it take to become a risk manager in a Nigerian bank?
The bank I worked for had a head of risk that had engineering background and do not understand what 'derivative' means. His successor is an english graduate and worse off quantitatively. You forgot that UBA and FBN are civil service banks where federal character thrives? If not why would SLS be named the MD of FBN in the first place when guys like Alex Otti,a 1st class economics graduate was in there or the present guy who is an accountant and chartered banker? It was a calculated plot to make him fit for such appointments as CBN guvnor.Wake up guy and learn the politics in Naija.
It is an insult to compare Soludo with Mallam SLS.Soludo professionalized CBN and stabilized the workforce to an average of 4500.SLS has increased it to enarly 8,000 with unqualified candidates who sit at the HQs and do nothing. He is surviving because he has d kids of prominent NASS members in his employment through the backdoor.Ask David Mark and he will educate you better.
Please no comparison.
You are a genius. i argued for 3hrs with a stubborn friend of mine on this subject matter after i read about Alex otti and the guy that succeed SLS in FBN. guy!!
my friend called me a conspiracy theorist but i just understand how Nigeria works. it takes a broad mind like yours to see through the administrative politics of this country.
just like job seekers who queue for few positions in droves for employment, brethren should learn how the reality in this country works. nothing is as easy as it seems.

unfortunately my rival beaf has been fired from the presidency and most annoying is the fact that i made him a wager in January that no single foundation for a refinery will stand in this country till the end of the year, and there will be no TAM, we are just 11days to the year's end and beaf is still no where to be found.

if only he knew what i knew in the oil and gas politics, he wouldn't have argued with me. Nigerians never learn.

Niger built a refinery with d help of d Chinese and it is working cos they run a deregulatd downstream sector. GenBuhari: jp philips,
Forget about what happened in the 70's can we concentrate about Obj's recored between 1999-2007, most projects in the 70's you mentioned where commenced by Yukabu Gowon or Muritala Mohammed.

Please ohh! do not get me mistaken for a GEJ supporter because I am not.
His govt is very corrupt.

I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of Obasanjo who demolished Nigeria in his 8 years between 1999-2007 whilst enjoying nations goodwill and years of unprecented high revenue from record high oil prices.

I cannot bring myself to criticise GEJ to strongly because Nigeria had already be wrecked by Obasanjo before he took over and deep down I do not really believe he is in charge and may probably just be a figure head whilst Obasanjo or IBB are running the country from behind the scenes.
you have been put to shame because you chose to lie through your anus. you said that obasanjo did not commission a single power plant that the NIPP was a fraud. that claim you supported with a press release from one rev. father.

if you cannot prove otherwise where the power plants i mentioned above came from, then shut your trap. Tell me obj is corrupt i will agree, but he is the reason Jonathan and Nigerians are hoping for steady electricity.

NIPP is the reason electricity improved in recent time, if you watch their commissioning dates, it fell between this year and next year, jonathan has not done anything serious on power rather its the Obj's projects that are being completed.

Jonathan could have given Nnaji the chance to restructure and privatize PHCN, that is if corruption will let him.

if you think otherwise, kindly tell us where all these plants came from.

i ask you again, tell me one single power plant started by Jonathan from scratch and commissioned, just one, he was close to commissioning the Zamfara 100mw but since NNaji left, nothing is going on there.

please don't give me si!!y press release of these projects, i have the addresses of the ones i have visited during a tour of NIPP projects.

i will paste it later so you can go touch it your self. now, answer my questions.

obasanjo as a corrupt person may have inflated the said contracts and did some shaddy deals no doubt but OBJ is the reason Nigeria is close to having steady electricity.

Nigeria's Obasanjo and the $16 Billion Power Scam

Frontline Catholic cleric and social critic, Rev. Fr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, perhaps, spoke the minds of millions of Nigerians when he said recently that former President Olusegun Obasanjo deserved to be formally tried for his alleged role in the squandering about $16 billion voted for resuscitating the near-dead power sector during his administration between 1999 and 2007. Kukah, a close family friend of the Obasanjos, was the Secretary to the National Political Reforms Conference (NPRC) initiated by the Obasanjo government in 2005.

This call, which is a challenge to the Goodluck Jonathan administration, could not have come at a more appropriate time, especially considering the President's recent assurance that his administration would go after those who looted the national treasury, no matter how highly placed they may be. But many Nigerians doubt if Dr. Jonathan will summon the will to bring his political benefactor to book.

Dr. Kukah, who also chided critics and civil society groups for not doing enough to ensure that Obasanjo is arraigned, said: "Obasanjo probably will never be the President of Nigeria again, but we should be concerned if Obasanjo deserves to go to prison. Vilifying him doesn't give us (electric) power; it also doesn't get us the criminals that have taken our money, wherever they are. I would have loved to have Obasanjo brought to trial, because then we would know the truth." Besides the scandal ravaging the power sector, which the former President directly supervised, the double standards of the Presidency, under him, in the many established cases of corrupt self-enrichment by key government functionaries during his tenure were mind-boggling.

After the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) unearthed a N56 billion fraud by the former Board of Directors of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), for example, Obasanjo failed to institute any process towards recovering the stolen amount and/or prosecuting the culprits, who were said to be his close political allies. Rather, some of those who served on that board were appointed to other boards subsequently. Before that scandal came to light, back in July 2002, Nigerians had been shocked when the then Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Godwin Kanu Agabi, filed a nolle prosequi (discontinuance of prosecution) on the day an Abuja High Court was scheduled to deliver judgment in a case of alleged embezzlement of N420 million by Dr. Julius Makanjuola, Obasanjo's relation and a Director at the Ministry of Defence.

And in 2006, Nigerians were similarly shell-shocked over the revelation of massive pillaging at the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) allegedly involving Obasanjo and his Deputy, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. This was to be followed by allegations of Obasanjo's involvements in the Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), which bought over Abuja's NICON Hilton Hotel, the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL), and also acquired some oil blocks.

Fr. Kukah's recent call is timely. Nigerians continue till today to endure perennial darkness, with no real clue to the cause of the apparent intractability of the power sector's woes. It is disheartening, in this regard, that like the late President Umaru Yar'Adua, Dr. Jonathan has surrounded himself with some of the key figures that helped ex-President Obasanjo fail so dismally in service delivery. While we commend Jonathan over his appointment of Professor Bath Nnaji as Special Adviser on Power, it must be noted that Mr. Joseph Makoju, a seasoned professional, had held that same position under the Yar'Adua administration and also under the Obasanjo government. In addition, he was PHCN Managing Director for the better part of the latter administration. He ought to be facing intense interrogation over what happened to the alleged misappropriated $16 billion.

And, with discredited functionaries and contractors of the Obasanjo era still hovering around The Presidency and the PHCN, poised to snatch whatever fresh allocations go to the power sector, where is the guarantee that Nigeria will ever have improved electricity supply in the foreseeable future? While we urge the Federal Government to seek out individuals and organizations, locally and abroad, with proven track records in performance and integrity to revive the ailing sector, the issue of the mismanaged billions should not be treated as a 'family affair' of the ruling party. Nigeria's public funds must be accounted for.

Since the National Assembly Probe Committee on the Power scam was itself to be later dragged into the corruption quagmire, we call for a thorough investigation, by the EFCC, into the whereabouts of the vanished power allocations.

The former President, on his part, should cooperate fully with the investigators, in order to clear his name of the strong suspicions surrounding his administration's wasteful disbursement of the $16 billion power sector allocations. There should be no sacred cows, as he used to say while in office. Any preferential treatment of individuals will create the impression that the Nigerian government's commitment to the anti-corruption crusade, economic reform and transparent governance is cosmetic and insincere.

While sleaze in high places thrives, the ordinary citizens' quality of life has remained dismal, infrastructural facilities are decrepit, mass unemployment ravages the land, and poverty sentences the vast majority to a life of unrelieved misery.
DID YOU BELIEVE THIS CRAP YOU WROTE UP THEREhuh?

seriously, a mad man tells you all your banks will fail and you believed him?? did you ever ask him how he arrived at that conclusion??

you seriously think that if it was true, that the incompetence of sanusi will see that? gimme a break!!
Politics › Re: Is Sanusi Still Better Than Soludo? by jpphilips(m):
Lemme take your posts gradually so that we may appreciate these two Icons better.

Soludo's banking recapitalisation was good strategy but it was shabbily implemented
Even before Sanusi came in as CBN Boss, the N25Billion recapitalisation scheme was already failing.
The original poster admitted that the banks had issues but were merely economic beyond the control of the CBN. Each time we talk about deregulation, sanusi et al point to GSM which was one out of many deregulations that recorded partial success.
The man sanusi does not tell you the truth. 70% of the SME’s that were stimulated by the soludo era almost collapsed because of deregulation but people did not know.
Did you understand why the refineries were sold to Dangote at a give away price in the name of deregulation? And do you know why smart people opposed it? The revelations from the subsidy brouhaha has pointed that oil in Nigeria is expensive (of course, your honest Sanusi forgot to tell you that he paid subsidy on products from the refinery)since 2008 and there was no way Dangote could have ran that refinery like the Govt expected, that aside, Dangote’s mission was simple, buy the cheap refinery weigh his options, sell off the tangible parts, set up a logistic base for his conglomerate and that will be the end of the refinery.
Some people that saw the end of that road stood up to it while people like you thought that privatization paid off. Now that we know ; can you ask dangote where he intends to buy the oil he intended to refine? At what cost? And at what pump rate? The answers will shock you.
Yes, the deregulation was a govt affair but indirectly it affected the banks because deregulation increased the over head cost of struggling SME’s who took loans from the bank. Sanusi has admitted that the most people that defaultered on their loans were oil and gas exposed, at least I studied the list myself, do you know that outside deregulation in the downstream sector, that militancy contributed immensely to the collapse of those businesses, the oil contractors took loans from banks but militants couldn’t let them execute their contracts and clients never paid. How is it the fault of neither the contractors nor the banks?
When they closed, the banks became stranded. This picture is commonsensical and that was what Soludo saw, what did Sanusi see? The answer will give you an insight to how both Governors reasoned.

If you still hold on to the capitalization as a failure then you need help, business day 2006 edition,

"for every five Nigerians with a good job, three are bankers" that is a fact thanks to soludo's consolidation
have you ever heard of insurance in Nigeria before soludonomics overwhelmed the economy?

via the consolidation exercise, mad men and women traded in stocks, never in the history of Nigeria has the stock market been more profitable than the soludo era.

talk about the pension schemes, HMOs and others. guy, soludo gave the Nigerian economy a focus, sanusi just didn't understand where the prof was coming from

Before Sanusi came in, Sprink Bank was already in crisis arising from faulty implementation of the N25 Billion recapitalization.
If you think Sanusi did better with Spring bank (defunct citizenbank) than soludo then ask the shareholders. I have on record what the shareholders return on investment was with soludo and where it stands presently.
Also I will attach evidence of growth projection of spring bank under soludo and what it is today, these growth projection covers
1 return on investment
2 expansion beyond the shores of Nigeria
3 employment and economic sustainability
perhaps with these documents we may not need a judge.

Soludo's CBN failed woefully in the regulation of the banks. The Bank CEOs had full freedom to do as they liked with depositors funds in a corrupt country. Kudos to Sanusi who came in to clear the mess.
Just tell me that the conjecture above is weed inspired if not “will you decide to cure your child of TB or will you rather poison the child after all TB is a killer disease?
Sanusi’s witchdoctor cured The child (banks) of TB (corruption) with a poison that eventually killed the child please explain it to us how that sounds like a solution to you.

Had it not been for his intervention, Banks like Afribank, PHB, Wema, Spring, Intercontinental,Union,Unity Bank would have been liquidated and the depositors, staffers as well as shareholders would have lost all, all together in terms of deposits, entitlements and investments respectively.
Your statement above goes further to prove that you are a victim of Sanusi’s lies
First can you present one evidence that these banks will have been liquidated if sanusi didn’t intervene?
Soludo admitted that the banks were unhealthy and he created the EDW to keep customers confidence in tact while the banks recover, is that not common sense?
There was corrupt practices no doubt but that was not the “killer”, the killer was deregulation and militancy not corruption which was a mere salt to an existing injury.
Did you see the evidences sanusi presented to show how unhealthy the banks were? 90% were bad loans
72% of the bank debtors were exposed to failed oil and gas deals ranging from oil lifting to mergers and acquisitions.
What was the biggest challenge of the oil and gas industry in the last 5yrs? Deregulation, local content and militancy? Let me explain further.
Indigenization of the oil and gas sector prompted indigenous companies to buy stakes from their foreign partners as the only option to stay in business, the local banks were financially robust (thanks to soludo’s consolidation exercise) and they gave them loans
others were exposures to oil lifting deals which partial deregulation put them at the brink of bankruptcy when subsidy was removed in part (diesel ). In other words, the oil and gas policies left these banks stranded which from Sanusi’s evidence has proved it. why did Sanusi focus on crime fighting which contributed less than 30 % of the problem than sympathizing with the banks whose 70% downfall were bad Govt policy?
He didn’t end there, 1yr on, he vigorously started a campaign of full deregulation obviously telling the world that he did not understand what contributed to 70% failure from the evidence he presented.
I bet this is not the kinda Idol you want to compare with his predecessor that created and funded the EDW for the banks.

You can imagine the impact that the simultaneous collapse of 10 big banks would be on the Nigerian economy which is a weak and struggling economy.
You seriously believe that the incompetence of sanusi will allow him realize the above if it was real?
Coming from a clown that is comfortable with 75% withdrawal of subsidy against his 100% proposal that will collapse the economy?
Coming from a tabularaser that confessed paying subsidy on 15 fake vessels because customs presented fake papers to him?
Coming from an ingrate that is using tax payers money to bail out boko haram victims even when state and fedral Govts have done same?
Coming from a confusionist that banned ATM in public places but sanctioned POS in his cashless economic strategy?
Coming from a zombie that is pushing for cashless economy at the same time printing higher denomination notes?
coming from a bingo whose predecessor stimulated the economy through job creation by consolidating banks, private partnership through mergers and acquisition, stock market, insurance and pension schemes while sanusi is busy asking a shameless Govt who just approved 2.2bn for banquet hall to fire 50% of his work force

However, what i am not happy with is the selective partial treatment applied by the CBN in the resuscitation process of the affected banks.
For instance, Afribank's shareholders lost their shareholding outright while the same criteria was not applied to other distressed banks whose shareholders still have their shareholdings intact not eroded. That was not fair.

I call it total incompetence

Both sanusi and soludo were faced with the task of reducing inflation, soludo proposed redenomination, we kicked against it, 3yrs on Ghana adopted it and they are better off for it, what did your sanurat propose? Devaluationhuh WTF!!!!

Sanusi and soludo were faced with the challenge of reducing cost of minting money, soludo proposed polymer notes, being durable will longivate the life span of the notes, what did sanusi implement, cashless lagos (after banning ATM in public places) , dirty currencies everywhere cos he no longer mint money.

Prof. chukwuma soludo is a genius while sanusi is just a rhetoric tabularaser in a bow tie.
look at the way soludo merged our banks, i was almost scared people will lose jobs during that era, but reassuringly the prof. was sound on that policy, the banks became few in number with lots of branches, at the same time, weeding off old blood and re injecting fresh graduates higher that what we ever imagined in any revolution in the history of this nation.on the other hand,

sanusi cannot even prepare a workable MOU between the banks he murdered and his fantasized foreign investors.
I am disappointed that you took him serious, admit it now that we all still stand a chance, Sanusi and Madueke are doing a great disservice to this country.
The last time I checked “to serve Nigeria is not by force”

Sorry my friend here is a dictionary meaning of a m0r0n

1. an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody's intelligence (insult)
2. offensive term: a former term for somebody with significant learning difficulties and impaired social skills, now considered offensive (dated offensive)
for someone that said the economy will totally collapse with total subsidy removal, yet it stood still with partial removal, don't you think you are insulting our intelligence by using the bold phrase in your post??

Tarqua or whatever you are called, it is evident that you are the replacement for beaf since okupe was hired.

but beaf is way ahead of you in sounding m0r0nic.
