Danka7777: Scrap this INEC of a body and give us back Military. Democracy is seemingly expensive, very expensive. It would be reasonable if we are spending all these money and getting something meaningful out of it, but that is not the case.
I agree with you only if the military will work with constitution not decrees.

@post

INEC has no business employing permanent staff, it is not a realistic business model.

INEC should convert those staff except for the commissioners to contract staff, who should be working within the period of election preparation and re runs.

imagine people staying idle for years just to be productive during the last months of the fourth year. that is ludicrous, prof jega should know better that INEC is not a career

uzomagic: It's rather unfortunate that a small matter of the perspective from which a picture was taken has become an issue for name-calling and denigration of our Nation and her leader by idle arm-chair critics who out of lack of substance to their endless criticism, resort to the mundane and the ridiculous.
The Hall in which the General Assembly of the United Nations holds is a very massive one and most times, the front row seats are usually vacant. The cameraman simply took a picture from the perspective he could get and some nincompoops come here to write that the President was addressing an empty hall.

stagger: Lego brain talking.

Why not tell your own organization to buy one for you? Nigerians are always jealous of success, and rather than study the model that produced the success and replicate it, they prefer to pull the successful person down to their level. By the time Winners Chapel buys 6 more aircraft, lego brains like you will keep quiet for good.

You should be happy that a church can own private jets without accessing the aviation fund that people like Jimoh Ibrahim took N35billion from, yet cannot maintain a national carrier. Of course, have you every heard that Winner's aircraft were grounded, or seized because they could not pay, or missed C checks because of lack of money?

Lego brain, you think they buy aircraft with lego bricks such as the one your brain is made of?
you mean Nigerians should become greedy while armed with the bible?

What else is avarice? You said buisness model, lol, oyedepo has no buisness model,

he collects your success and hands you poverty its that simple.

any success you attain as a winners member was given to you by God not oyedepo.

Jesus never used proxies to bless people.

Oyedepo is not a christian!!

He is on his own, operating his own religion.

aguiyi: a very proud one
and your widow's might bought him private jets while you trek from ojota to apapa under the annointing of sachet water.

Even the bible you read told you that on the mountain, jesus collected donations of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes and ended up feeding 5,000 hungry congregation.
He didnt stop there, he equally attended a feast where the celebrant ran out of wine, he miraculously turned water into wine to satisfy his guest.

How does his jets satisfy his hungry multitude? Or is oyedepo wiser than jesus?

When will you realise that heaven frowns at your stup!dity of enrishing oyedepo?

Do you know that God blesses you with or without oyedepo? If you are in doubt, try another church.

Make no mistakes, there were several oyedepos during the time of christ.

boron10: @OP are you for real? Would you rather have a dullard who knows how to cook as wife? Please en, gone are those days when men marry women solely because of their domestic skills. This is 21st century for crying out loud. You are even very lucky to find a Nigerian babe who is able to combine beauty with brain. Cooking is a trait any nonentity can learn within a week. I bet, if you think she isn't good for you, men who are far better would take her from you and you would end up regretting. Always try inviting her to the kitchen whenever you feel like cooking. Drop your ego i beg. A word is enough
kiddies rant, guess you thought your mum how to cook while your father watched abi?

Yes, the food you enjoy at home is the manifestation of a good choice made by your father.

Christianity Etc › Re: Nigerian Churches: Who Are They Building Universities For? by jpphilips(m): 9:40pm On Sep 27, 2012
klovesh: I like to be objective when it comes to analyzing issues. I believe it is not just to make conclusions based on limited information.
I am not taking any position about what these churches charge as fees and all that, but then I will like the bashers to reflect on these

1. You are sure about the fees, but do you really know how much the expenses of running a university are. I mean u should be able to do a detailed analysis and come up with figures. I hate arbitrariness. It may be cheaper or more costly than you think. If you don't know, then don't assume. It's not fair.
A lot of people know next to nothing about running an institution.

2. I have never seen anywhere in the world where private institutions charge little money. When they do, someone else is paying for the remainder. So what is the problem here? Are u absolutely sure that these unis don't offer scholarships or are u basing it on hearsay? From what I saw here, a lot of people have never attended the churches nor been to the universities.

3. From what I know about giving, your reward for contributing to build a Uni doesn't necessarily have to be a place for your ward in it. It is not necessarily where you sow to that you get the reward from. It is not normal physical trade. I think people that know the scriptures will understand this. In the same vein, I don't expect those that don't know the scriptures to understand, so they are free to say what they like

I am tired of Nigerians saying things out of emotions and limited information. We always seem to support the underdogs and bring exploits down.
Most of the comments I have read here lack depth.

Lastly, I think sometimes we don't need to stress ourselves so much on issues that don't really count. You have not donated towards the uni, so how does it affect you? The person attending the church knows why he is doing it. He is not disturbing your peace.

Mind you, the people building these schools don't read things like this. They have important things to worry about.

I welcome any bashing, just decided to post my thoughts. I need to go and spend more of my time doing important things.

Thank you
i hope you dont see anything wrong in your uncle sharing your wife, afterall, though your money was spent, it was still a family affair.

If people should contribute for a school and are barred from it, then why do you work and expect a wage?

The institution you work for raise funds through your efforts and for that you demand your wage.

A church builds a school with your efforts and earn money from it, you still think you deserve nothing?

Can you be called an adult when you find it difficult to protect your own interest?

Where is your common sense?

''calling'' is what the man on the pulpit uses to make you feel inferior, he uses it to con you that he understands the bible better than you dont be fooled, most preachers dont even sound intelligent at all.

Lemme tell you a story, when jesus was shopping for disciples, he went to fishermen, craftsmen, thomas, judas etc
God even used saul an attorney who persecute christians, now, if jesus in his infinite wisdom didnt shop for men with ''calling''
who is that mere mortal that thinks he has a 'calling'?

Read your bible and leave con men with 'calling' alone

tell me, how many called men have shown evidence of their calling?
Christianity Etc › Re: Nigerian Churches: Who Are They Building Universities For? by jpphilips(m): 5:25pm On Sep 26, 2012
Zikkyy: I want to agree with joagbaje, you really need to ask what the church objectives are. Was it to provide affordable education to church members? was is to provide quality education (only to those that can afford it)? Was it for profit? If it was clear from the very beginning that it was going to be for those that can afford it, you don't blame the church.
what was the church's motive while collecting money from members

a) so that the rich elsewhere should benefit
b) so that the poor should go to UNN, while his investment in the church serves otedola
c) serve humanity through education to the glory of God
d) all of the above

clue; suspend wisdom, apply common sense.

Will you support A if you were a member of that church?

If the members complied, then C must have been the story sold to them.

If the church does A what do you advocate?
Christianity Etc › Re: Nigerian Churches: Who Are They Building Universities For? by jpphilips(m): 5:15pm On Sep 26, 2012
Joagbaje: What were the school built for? What was the vision behind the institutions ? Was it built for church members or less privilege? Or built to save the decay of quality education in the nation? .

If the vision for the institution was for free education or for Christians only or for the poor. You may blame them . But I don't think that's the case.

Churches should not be castigated for the fees in schools. He school is public institution and normal fees should be paid .
if Jesus had a school he built using members funds, how do you think the school will be run?

A) extricate the poor
b) embrace the rich
c) all of the above

clue; suspend wisdom, apply common sense

nimi a: Na wa o..please what do we need the other side of the story for?? No man has the right to hit/beat a woman.
and its bequeated on a woman to become a perpetual nuisance?

Do you know how annoying some women get?

Making laws in your own house, using sex as a weapon, thinking she has arrived and since its marriage, its for better for worse whichever comes first,
disrespecting you before friends, woe betide you if you lose your job.

I can guess the anti abuse train has peeps that have never lived with women or those women as passengers,

why will i waste my energy beating some unrepentant bingo when some cute, younger blood need the same energy?

Why will i financially maintain a nuisance? Common sense dictates that at the very least, i will withdraw all my services and leave you in the cold.

Have you tried sending her out with that running mouth to spend the weekend with her friends?

I see abusers as people without common sense, cos its easier living alone than managing an annoying she.

Some women are evil, yea ive seen them a lot
