Ilekokonit: Instead of going for such yahoo boy influenced unrealistic young ladies, I would rather remain single and save the little I earn as marriage in itself is like warfare nowadays regardless of who you marry as social media and easy internet access has made the comparison of ones spouse to unreasonable social media / internet standards the order of the day and so any potential spouse who thinks a yahoo boy is richer than me can go please herself with the said yahoo boy and lets see where it takes her in max 5 years time when we can then compare notes to see who was wise and who was foolish.
Once a woman I want to date compares me to someone else or gives me any feeling that she thinks i don't earn enough, my house / clothes etc is not good enough, I don't have a car, then that's the end of that relationship or my interest.
2 years ago one of the Bros that we drink together at a Naija Restaurant in London introduced me to his wife's younger sister whose fiancee had abandoned in London and went to Naija to get married to another lady. I invited the now single lady out and at our first and only date at a Naija restaurant she asked me if I had a car (she has one) and I said Yes that my car is Red and is double decker - referring to London buses. Maybe that put her off coupled with the fact that she told her brother in law that I was too open and honest with her on a first date but my point is that when I had my first UK driving license, I doubt if she could ride a bicycle yet talk less of drive a car and a woman that judges a potential spouse based on material things is just not worth taking serious and thats why a lot of women fall for the wrong man based on his outward display of material things.
Materialistic women don't realize that an unemployed guyman can rent a very expensive looking car for £50 a day and tell her he just bought it and he can repeat this with multiple rented cars to deceive her that he is so wealthy as to have many expensive cars and the materially influenced lady will not know any better and will think the guyman is more successful than a hardworking man who has a good stable job and can afford to buy a car but chooses not to as he does not need one.
By the time she realizes that the guyman does not have a job and those cars were rental cars its too late as guyman probably has had his way with her and may have abandoned her with belle. but she only has herself to blame as she looked down on hardworking young men and went for the flashy unemployed guyman because she forgot that not all that glitters is gold and now she has to lie on the bed she made for herself and the hard working young man she looked down on is no longer available on the dating scene.
Honestly this is just the situation in Nigeria... and they keep saying men are dogs after falling for the dogs .... when my ex left me and I was pleading with her to come back.. she told me to give up as she met has met a new guy whose more better off than me financially... even have a car... that really made me developed a thick skin afterwards and a DON'T GIVE F**K MENTALITY , shes currently not even.dating the guy anymore.. . I really hate this show off thing... and its becoming a trend and cuture, thats why so many people are in debt, wrong relationships, wrong company...just to name a few
We Nigerians like unnecessary show off. Even some Oyinbo millionaires do not own cars and if they did, a lot of them will not drive it into Central London so as to avoid paying the £10 congestion charge, not because they cannot afford to but because there is the tube there and trains to take them back and forth but not with us Nigerians who want to show off their material things to less well off friends and family as a way of feeling bigger and better than them. Now his showmanship may end up costing him his freedom and his job and if he is unlucky a criminal record to boot which means for 5 years he may not be able to get any job that searches the criminal record bureau to see if prospective employees have a criminal record.
All self inflicted because he wanted to show off his car to a friend he earns more money than but that same friend is now in a better place than him.
Hopefully he has learnt his lesson the hard way.
you are very very right... I'm still in naija oo but I can tell you the showoff is alarming, its on another level, more especially these small small yahoo boiz that have done small ritual to get money ... showoff is their hobby, in delta state they show off to make you feel less of a human... these boiz now influence the dating market, that most young ladies now set unrealistic standards when.searching for a spouse, and also deem legit hardworking, struggling young men as unserious and broke.... making one need startup capital and upfront payment to start up a relationship...as if na business
Santa2: @jtech17..You can go to teeside, finish and get a good job, there are loads and load of project management opportunities in the UK. What I will advise though is get a PM certification to make you standout, prince 2 is preferable here, you can also do six sigma green belt amongst many others. Your previous experience is already shows project management experience, just be able to speak to it in an interview in the lingua, be able to answer questions like how would you manage stakeholders, what would you do if you experience scope creep as a PM. Youtube is a very good resource for interviews, optimize its use. Work on your resume detailing projects you have handled, there some sites that would review your CV for free, (I think Top CV and CV library, not sure though) and you should start getting interview invites. While a lot of firms would look at the school you attend, being able to demonstrate that you have the required skill set is given more priority in a lot. So don't worry about the school, (at least as a PM) worry more about having the skill and certifications and be able to speak to it.
Check if PM is in shortage list..if it is you should be on fire.
My 2 cent
Thanks @santa2 ... but is there a link to this shortage occupation list
fatima04: With your skill,I would advise you switch to Civil Engineering Msc as that is broad and on the shortage occupation list last I checked. Teeside is good but I will advise location where there are huge construction works going on. For example the hs2 project, with phase 1 running from London to Birmingham makes those areas hot.
Thanks for that..... will start looking for schools in London and Birmingham...
justwise: Those are good set of skills that will help you greatly when you finally settled here but the process of getting settled is where the battle is.
Me done start prayer for that settling down matter oo..
justwise: If you managed to graduated without repeating any module and get your PSW then those skills will be handy.
justwise: That has it’s downside too which affects a lot of Internatioal students.. when you graduated from one of those cheap universities getting a graduate job can be a long walk compared to others with certificate from much better ranked universities.
Ok
justwise: Marriage for paper should not be your focus as that is risky and expensive too but if you genuinely fall in love with someone without sham arrangement then that is better.
.. definitely I would want it to be genuine because of love.. I'm not in a relationship with anyone currently, and I plan on settling down, so I feel the only issue here will getting a citizen with genuine intentions like myself.
justwise: Definitely almost all foreign students plan to stay back and get a job and it’s possible if you graduated with a good result possibly from a good university.
Well,i will only know that after my degree, but l have technical skills in pool construction and maintenance, as well as plumbing, I think pending when d kpali go begin pay off make I hustle with those skills, as well as any other small jobs that come to put body n soul together, I know certification in those field will also be a prerequisite. I feel teeside is a good university sha. Good no go shame us.[/quote]
justwise: Check if project management is in occupational job shortlist because studying the right course helps that process of staying back after graduation
LagosismyHome: This video is 2 years old so I won't take this as the gospel truth as some changes have been introduced..... yes uk not an easy journey to ILR/ Citizenship but a lot make it to the finishing line
I know, but I would like to know how possible is it for the majority on this route to achieve this... like I said I'm ready to settle down not just a sham marriage.... I.don't wanna get there after all the money .. come start to make.new plans to go another country... I'm more particular about the change of visa status to resident... ..
And if you say a lot has changed ... what has really changed..
justwise: To start with..why are you not looking for admission in the area you have skills and experience in already?
Can you afford to study in the UK without worrying about fees and rent?
The thing is the project management msc is in the construction industry.. so its kind of related.. I've had other mechanical engineering experiences as well as outside engineering work experiences... and I think teeside is one of the cheapest when it comes to some engineering courses.. most engineering courses ive checked in other schools re expensive or not related to what I hve skills in... PM is very well related.
I will worry about the fees oo to be honest.. I'm gonna be sponsored by a Relative but the funds will be in my account...
Hello all, please gurus in the house @justwise , legxus and co ... please I need suggestions as well as advice on this travel out matter below I just applied to a university in uk Teesside to be precise and waiting for their admission. I'm applying for msc project management with advanced practice. Though I'm a mechanical engineer and skilled in Swimming pool construction/maintenance as well as domestic plumbing. My plan is never to come back again to naija oo as I'm still single n in my early 30s. I was told that I should get married to a citizen so as to secure my resident either during or after my studies and also try to birth a child to indicate commitment to the marriage. Also I was advised to keep schooling from time to time pending when i obtain my resident status.
The thing is I'm skeptical it would be difficult for me to change visa status because I watched various you tube videos discouraging going to the uk.. I plan to settle down there but videos like this discourages me:
From frankleen.. most of you might have come across such videos.
I plan on changing route to another country as ive not gone far with this uk issue...but i need advises and other peoples opinion on this issue so dat I don't waste the little money I have and end up with had I know.. I want to know how promising the step I'm taking is, I als want to know as a student will I be fully constrained to d 20hrs work thing, can I get a job in my pool line at least starting with maintenance first etc.
For me life after the visa collection and school is more important for me than just getting the visa.
I also applied, may 14th to teeside msc project management, nothing since den oo, I'm considering sending dem mails. Please what course are you applying for. And does course of study matters in this admission issues... abi dem dey check awa names in alphabetical order? ... my surname starts with "E" and my first name starts with "A" maybe dem dey do am by surname and dem never reach "E"... cos if na " A " I soppose done get mail... lol though
tifaniaj: Try UEA, they are quite fast and deadline for application is July or so. All the best.
I applied for project management at teeside.. don't know if this school has project management post graduate courses ... or engineering management, or something mechanical sha
lookers191: I repeat. You don't need the services of any agent. The question you ate asking whether it's a case nditiinal or unconditional would be clearly stated on your offer letter.
You can do everything by yourself and in any case you run into any issue that needs verification, you can ask here.
Send your application directly to the uni and plan your movement towards January 2022.
lookers191: To start with, you don't need an agent for anything. Since you have an understanding with your sponsor, acquaint yourself with Google and this forum while you arm yourself with enough information. Can you confirm if that your chosen course has a Jan/Feb start date? The agent is bent in you securing an admission now because he knows that is how he would get money from you.
You have an ample time, get to work now as I believe this work you have to do now is an insignificant fragment of what lies ahead during your proposed studies.
I wish you speed and success.
My program start dates are September and January. .
. although my sponsor initially planned September but due to unforseen events he had to tell me to wait till next year.. and I have been in contact with the agent when everything was planned for September, so I had to let him know that everything will have to happen next year...
Concerning the admission is it conditional, unconditional or scholarship ... what do you class the type I mentioned above
morinto: Please advise me. I got conditional admission into derby university,Coventry university and aberystwyth. Have not make up my mind first between the three university but I want to do TB test. Can I do TB test without naming any university and also my bank statement?
Hello gurus in the house, I have some questions to know if I'm on the right track... please I'm new to this uk visa thing , so expect some questions dat you might laff at
1. I currently applied to teeside university msc project management via an agent on may 14 its a 2yrs program. the fees is £7500/ year. My sponsor told me he'll be ready for the payment, pof issues next year, say from December this year, January or February next year, due to some expenses he had to offset. my agent told me I can apply this year and a get a discount of £2000 for each year, leaving me £5500 to pay since I have a 2:1 in mechanical engineering .. is this conditional , unconditional admission or scholarship?
2. Since I will be making my payment between end of this year and next year is be wise to have started the application now. Because my agent told me after getting the admission, now I can defer till when I'm fully ready for the payments. Will the discount of £2000 still be available or valid by then that is next year or it has a timeline? Or should I just wait till when I'm ready and reapply thats if theres a possibility of reapplying?
Please you can also recommend cheaper schools as teeside is the only school ive applied for so far.... like I said earlier I have a background im mechanical engineering, 2:1. I'm keen on studying project management, or any construction related courses...
Folushaw7: Which course? I made enquiries for Project Management and they got back saying it’s not accredited towards a charter status. I’m changing my mind about the school because I think course accreditation is important for Post Graduation Work..
Project management oo... I feel it doesn't matter as the school fees is one of d cheapest coupled with the fact dat na to commot naija important pass for me for now..I feel I can take short courses with time to augment for the chartered status thing..just like when polytechnic and university graduate.. situation in becoming COREN registerd... . JAPA on my mind oo.. I no dey come back again again...besides I got other skills like pool construction/maintenance and plumbing... so me wan go hustle oo.. although I feel the msc will still come in handy sha... but for now I feel I should be worried about getting the visa... but lets talk more on whatsapp... mail me your number mercychukwunonsooluka@yahoo.com
Hello house I applied to teeside university.. ... on the 14th of may...and submitted all the necessary documents as well as consent form to Ukvi..... but I'm yet to get a feedback on my admission status... was wondering why its taking so long... abeg I'm new to uk admission/visa waka.. so edakun..make una tamper question with answer... thanks
