He shouldn't have gone there. Judges traditionally avoid these kinds of encounters - not because they're wrong but because they APPEAR TO BE wrong, as they send the wrong message. You won't find pictures of American Supreme Court judge with a politician, not even the president.

Romance › Re: The Type Of Men I Don't Want (personal Opinion) by JuanDeDios: 10:09pm On Dec 02, 2023
SweetBuns:
They say that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder", but honestly speaking there are certain calibres of men I will never go near no matter how hard they try.

To get straight to the point,

1. Short men
Oh my God.... I don't just know what to say about these sort of men. If I'm taller than you as a girl, then sorry but I can never see you as my second piece. You'll always be like a younger brother to me. No hard feelings.
Short men also have this irritating attitude whenever they see girls around, as if they're trying to compensate for their low height. And some even go to the gym and gets muscles.... But it just makes them look shorter like a 5 litre jerry can and irritating
Also, why in the world would I pick a short guy over a tall guy? I literally feel so protected and safe when I'm with a guy that is wayyyy taller than me (I'm 5'2 so my height is kinda average)... So ofc I'd want a tall man and not a mini man.
Imagine hugging a man and he's hugging your waist cause he's short ugh.
I wanna stand on my toes whenever I kiss him and strain my neck just to look at his face. No more no less.
Tall men also stand out more, they're far more attractive and I also want taller sons and daughters.
Who should the short guys date then? I dunno... But not me.
The bar starts at 6'0, but If you're like 6'2 or 6'3... I want your babiesss

2. Bald men
The only age where I think baldness is acceptable as a man for me is if he's like in his 50s or 60s. But if you're in your 20s-30s and you're already going bald.... It just irritates me low-key in a inexplicable way... Like why will a young guy have a hairline that receeds all the way to the middle or back of your head? Where did all your hair go? Gross
I also read somewhere that early balding is genetically inherited so that means my children too will suffer the same fate? God forbid.
My man ought to have a head full of hair well into his 60s, then we start talking about hair loss.

3. "Oju yo Bo" people
I didn't know the English term for this so I had to Google it. It's a Yoruba term for people whose eyes pop out of their sockets like that of a wall gecko. This is also something I don't like in my man.... I want his eyes to be like that of Henry Cahill... Neatly tucked inside and having small slit like opening.

Addition: so I just googled it and it's called prey eyes. I prefer the hunter one since it gives my man a piercing gaze and I just wanna hug him immediately.

4. Eyebrows
A man MUST have thick eyebrows. If you don't, I can't take you seriously

5. Men with bad posture

6. Men who supports man U grin

That last one was a joke but I'm dead serious about the rest. And I'm sure other girls will agree to some up there too.
You're a good writer. You'll likely go places.

Guy made some generator noise expressing his displeasure at time-wasting non-customers. The following day, I returned, entered the shop next to his, and bought a 14" Samsung TV, booster, antenna and pole, a stabilizer and a few other things. I saw him ogling me when I was leaving and I nearly screamed "I thought you Igbo traders were trained better?"
Food › Re: 12 Uncommon Fruits And Vegetables You Can Find In Nigeria by JuanDeDios: 4:39pm On Nov 30, 2023
In Nigeria, fruits and vegetables like oranges, carrots, mangoes, tangerines, etc., are commonplace. Many people, including Nigerians, don’t know that besides these staples, the country grows other uncommon fruits and vegetables that are often thought to be imported. Now that you know we have certain uncommon fruits and vegetables in Nigeria, here are some of them....

1. Broccoli.
One can actually argue that Broccoli is grown exclusively in Plateau state and not in any other Nigerian state. The fruit market in Jos is all the more richer and diverse because of this and other exotic vegetables and fruits.

2. Cauliflower
Cauliflower is rich in vitamins and minerals, also very essential in detoxification, proper digestion, and helps fight cancer, inflammation and other heart conditions.

3. Beetroots
Beetroot was first cultivated by the Romans. Today, the leading commercial producers include the USA, Russia, France, Poland and Germany. It can be roasted, blended into a soup, boiled, or consumed raw in salads. Studies claim that beetroot juice improves athletic performance, reduce blood pressure, and increase blood flow.

4. Strawberries
Strawberry is grown in large quantities in Jos and other areas of Plateau state. For anyone who has ever travelled from Abuja to Jos, the women hawking strawberry and other uncommon fruits and vegetables around Riyom local government area are not hard to miss.

5. Pomegranates

Pomegranates are a great source of vitamin C, fibre, and vitamin B6.

6. Raspberries
Raspberries are highly rich in antioxidants, potassium, fiber, and other nutrients that are essential to the body system.

7. Apples

8. Blueberries
Blueberries are low in calories but high in nutrients. Also used in fruit juices.

9. Tomatoes
Of course, tomatoes are grown in many states across Nigeria. But the tomatoes in some states stand out for their excellent quality and flavour. That’s why the praise name “Tomato Jos” for example, is a thing.

10. Celery
This contains important antioxidants; it reduces inflammation, supports digestion, and is rich in vitamins and minerals.

11. Eggplants
Eggplants are a source of vitamins and minerals. It helps in digestion, reduces the amount of cholesterol that the body absorbs and thus improves heart conditions. It also helps bones become stronger and increase bone density.

12. Radish
Radishes can be red, white, or purple. It has been said to aid digestion, fight fungus, prevent diabetes and improve skin condition.

Here’s a picture of the British commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, shopping for fruits at the farmers market in Plateau.

https://www.zikoko.com/chopist/12-uncommon-fruits-vegetables-in-nigeria/
You didn't mention where most of them are grown in Nigeria. Are 2, 5, 6 and 8 really grown in Nigeria?

All the houses demolished were built illegally, its not a few isolated. It only means there is a tendency to flout rules by the people and disregard rules. Why do you have people going against traffic, Is it because govt didn't demarcate the road appropriately

Good to know he said that. Maybe people will come up yet - because I've hearing stories about people with documents.

Anyway, my point is that with a few isolated incidents of people building where the weren't meant to, this would be understandable. But in a situation where so many houses were built in the wrong place, it suggests a failure of the state to prevent these houses from being built, leading to such colossal economic waste.

Politics › Re: Nigeria's Budget Vs Other African Countries Budget by JuanDeDios: 10:59pm On Nov 29, 2023
DeepSight:
The only reason our budget remains that poor - and I repeat with emphasis - the ONLY reason is our unthinkable political corruption. An oil producing country which has no working refineries for almost two decades speaks for itself. Let me also assure you that the theft of this country's resources is beyond the obvious. Those who collude with politicians to quietly steal solid minerals are there. Those who have deliberately sabotaged the power sector are there. If you think the subsidy was just a normal thing that had to go because "Nigerians are lazy" then you dont understand the depth of what transpires in this country. A subsidy that was only about 300 billion some years ago became over six trillion and you dont understand that a mafia was at work. The only reason it has been seized now is simply because Bretton Woods institutions will not continue loaning our political elite money to steal at that level. There are natural subsidies in every country. Its the extreme and even demonic theft of ours that has forced this situation.

Again, if you dont know that all the savings from the removal of subsidy in Nigeria will still be voraciously stolen by politicians, then you dont know Nigeria.

In Nigeria there are roads projects that have been financed by every government since Obasanjo's - and remain untouched. That level of theft should tell you the matter really rests with political corruption. Now that the cookie is crumbling or rather the cookie jar has so shrunk that there is little to steal, they wish to shift the burden to the poor.

Also, like someone pointed out up there, the true measure of a country's wealth is its GDP and not its budget. With our GDP, which has even been dropping, we can have a far bigger budget than 33 Bn. We can grow that GDP very fast also - exponentially even.

My dear, in Nigeria, taxing the people more is also no solution to political corruption. If you dont know that such tax will still disappear and yet Nigerians will move on, then you still dont know your country. Mind you, I dont say dont tax - I simply point out that it will not do jack to corruption.
Correct. I think people just extrapolate theories from other places without considering Nigeria: just tax the people and they'll hold government accountable. Which people?

So access bank with all the acquisition is still below 700bn yet they will be bragging that they are the biggest bank in Nigeria. Capitalization and not assets or customer base is the best metrics to judge how strong a bank is. Investors who have good knowledge of the industry know which bank stocks to buy which is directly reflected in Thier stock market capitalization. Zenith GTB and Stanbic IBTC are the strongest banks in Nigeria. This recapitalization is very good and will help reposition our financial institutions.
