Politics › Re: Tinubu Getting Governance Right But Economy Wrong By Farooq A. Kperogi by JuanDeDios: 3:29pm On Jan 13, 2024 |
Racoon: Prof cant make this kind of statement, but turn around to say Tinubu is getting the governance well. The reality is that he is not getting anything right Governance and economy are not the same thing. Getting governance right is far easier than getting the economy right. Governance is in your hands as president. The economy is partly in your hands - a lot depends on global factors, price of oil, luck, etc. The problem is that Tinubu has not done much to address the basics - roads, electricity, etc. Without these, the economy won't boom - even though he's getting governance right, at least, compared to Buhari. |
Career › Re: This Happened In My New Work Place. Please advice by JuanDeDios: 1:43pm On Jan 13, 2024 |
SharingIsLife: Endure it and do your work excellently for 2 months. Work in such a way that you become an INDISPENSABLE member of staff (after all, you're used to low salary).
As you do this, you will be a total surprise to the secretary and anyone else expecting you to be demoralized at work because of your low pay. This is good for workplace politics because people can't really understand you. But this is not the main aim of doing your work so well as I have advised.
This is the main aim: After 2 months, go to the management and ask for a pay raise. If they delay in doing this, submit your resignation letter. And if they ask you why you are leaving, you tell them that you need a pay raise and that you found another job offering you that.
Don't have any atom of fear while doing this as long as you know you have become indispensable to them.
You need to get a pay raise as soon as possible not just because of you yourself but because of other workers. Because the company may decide to reduce other people's pay thinking that they are paying too highly in comparison to other companies. Op, follow this advice. |

Until the circumstances around the death is made public,no one can say it's because of the mum's appearance on BBC documentary that led to her death. Circumstances or not, appearance on a documentary doesn't kill anyone's daughter. But I expect pastorlaters to have a field day with this one. |

We are in an era where so called "conspiracy theory" can actually save your life. Nowadays it pays to be suspicious when there's nothing to be suspicious about ! So which media do you get your own Bill Gates lowdown from? For someone who's called ScamDemic, you must be a strong following of CTs. Yes, I agree some conspiracy theories do turn out to have some merit - I can even cite a few. But most are just the figment of the imagination of people who seem to believe that if something is outrageous it must be true. |

rbgsun: Congratulations, if only this excellent and exception grade of 5.00 CGPA will translate to the country's development. Every year we graduate hundreds of brilliant engineers whom to date have invented nothing, discovered nothing, patented nothing and produced nothing! Yet every year engineering councils like the Nigerian Society of Engineers, COREN, etc organise lavish events in posh hotels and confer awards, honours and laurels to its members for adding absolutely NOTHING to Nigeria's development and progress! Our engineers cannot even design or improve on the design of a common Keke NAPEP 1-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. Thank God for Asian ingenuity!
Until we start to think what a 5.00 CGPA can do for Innoson, Nord Motors, Nigeria Machine Tools, our entire defence industry, and how can it translate improving power supply, providing potable water, medical access, curbing insecurity or in the manufacture of heavy duty equipment to build roads, housing, drones, computers, AI, agriculture, etc, the end result is that in a very short time, Engr. David Akanmu and the rest of his graduating class will, like their predecessors, be eyeing better opportunities outside our shores where their brains and skills are better appreciated and rewarded. The only credit to Nigeria will be the same old global mantra - "Nigerians are one of the brightest and brilliant people in the world" and that's it, with Nigeria continuing to depend on the rest of the world for basic necessities. The cycle continues!! It doesn't work like that. |
