Hello everyone, I'm coming to the UK by the end of this week and I need help with accommodation. I'd appreciate a place with close proximity to Manchester because that's where my school is. I don't mind sharing the apartment with guys but I'd prefer an all female household. My budget is £450 to £500 I'm really desperate because I don't have any friend or relative in that area. Don't ignore me please🙏
Pm me

Although this depends totally on individual circumstances, watching lots of tutorials from the likes of YouTube, Udemy etc doesn’t work for everyone, although you’d likely learn the required skills, but most doesn’t provide that mentorship needed. I spent that over 1 year trying to self learn by watching different tutorials on all tools used in data analysis, I don’t actually know what to learn and to what extent to learn it up to, sometime, I will read article on twitter or LinkedIn about a new software tool to use for analysis, I will quickly jump to go and learn it, to a point where I’m learning so many tools without much direction and funny that the tutorial videos of all are available to keep you leaning.

I learnt SQL, python, excel including macro, mmsql, mssrs, power bi, tableau, aws, azure, snowflake, git, etc without a direction and all are used by data analyst but different from one organization to another for there use case.

It was until when I joined a mentorship program where industry expert started guiding me on what to learn and not to learn, then I remained focus, 3 months after I got my first job and that’s history now.

So basically I’d advice people to look for someone to mentor them to provide tailored advice or guidance.

Most self learn videos are just to learn the skill, and if Simone is not careful you will just be learning all those big tools and new technologies without learning the basics, which most organizations are still using.

Met someone few weeks ago, was applying to data analysis job without know the basics like pivot table, using formulas in excel, which are basics or elementary in data analysis. Can’t even use filter properly, but was quick to mention that he can use ssrs, advanced sql functions (like functions, triggers, cte, etc) .

Someone can go on LinkedIn, search for people already working in that field you are interested in, you might likely find someone willing to provide guidance.

Although, I paid for mine anyway.
very Insightful piece ,kindly share your mentorship programme contact

Try Udemy, don't waste £4K wink

Stéphane Maarek
Joe Bonso
Adrian Cantrill
Pytholic on YouTube
AWS free resources on YouTube

wink
Thanks for your input, self- paced learning training is part of the process too but i guess most Uk IT employer dont give jobs based on certification alone they are more interested in your UK work real life experience and projects ,job references ,recommendations and connections which i feel is what a potential applicant can easily get from Bootcamps . Personally i feel that one can start with the udemy training but will still need to complement with bootcamps to build networks for jobs

Afternoon all,

I'm looking to relocate to the greater Manchester area early next year. There's a lot of information online but thought I'd ask the house if there's any area one should consider or areas to avoid due to work opportunities etc. In life I believe shared experiences can make one avoid some regrets later so any tips would be appreciated.
You dont really need to be in the cities ( that is where the best opportunities lies ) because it can be very expensive (excess of 1k ) to get a decent accommodation . The transportation system in Greater manchester is ok to get you where you want to be if you plan yourself well so you can s .What you need is to be around people you can identity with to get the necessary connections and network so as to get access to informations .

Good morning all.

Please I need to seek clarification. I am a skilled worker in UK. My husband brought the children in June 2022 and got is BRP about same time. He went back to Nigeria but finally returned in November 15. We got our car in December and he has been using his Niaja driver license to drive.

Now, he wants to do the practical and want to use his car., considering the fact that he can only use his naija driving license for one year.

My question is when is the 1yr start counting? Is it June when he first came or November. ?

I told him that June will be seen as the date he came to UK not November.

Please someone should help me oh. I don't want him to violate the laws

Thank you
1 year starting counting the first day you enter UK and you got your Passport stamped by the POE guys

Lies Lies or rather...not entirely true.

I used my own car and it was excellent.

I only made sure I had someone to accompany me , in this case - my 3 days borrowed instructor.

The person that accompanied you?is his full uk driver license up to 3 years and is your vehicle carrying the you carrying L sign on your car when entering the venue ?That you escape this doesn't erase the fact that another person might not get away with it , you should understand that whistle-blower is a normal culture here.

If you're under 40, you can open a LISA account.

With that you can get up to £1000 in bonus per tax year.

https://www.gov.uk/lifetime-isa

If above 40, you can try Cash ISA, Nutmeg, Monzo Pot, Chase Savings, Loxbox.

Which of them attract best interest in saving

Congratulations. Please I need advice as my practical test is in few days time and I intend to use my car? What do I need to provide inorder to use my car for the test?

Don't use your car as your own instructor can even blow whistle on you as he aware that you brought the car to the venue of the exam with provisional license

to be candid i never knew i was suppose to do a return label for it. i just went to the post office and send with the white envelop and also registered it and someone must sign for it.
when i got my provisional license and i was told the brp will come separately in the mail but haven't seen anything till date.

It optional if u want to do return stamp for it .U will still get it though it can take longer period

Hello Elders, for those that have experience with NHS mental health hospitals, which one is better between the under 18 mental health hospitals and the adult mental health hospitals please? I have an opportunity to take up an offer as a nursing assistant at any of the two. Thank you.
Adult are much peaceful and easier to handle, it very easy to get caught up into safeguarding issue with the under 18 and they always push boundaries which u means ur guards must never down at any point in time

@Advance Dna:

Evening Greetings Sir, Please do you have any idea, if it is okay for someone who just got into the UK with the Skilled Worker(Care Worker) Route and doesn’t have Shift or training yet from the Employer that issued COS. Is it okay for that person to quickly Travel out of the UK and back, even before getting shifts? (This Person already received the BRP card upon arrival in the UK). Is it advisable for the Person to make this Trip outside the UK. (Urgent/important Trip)? Thanks for your response in Advance.
Skilled worker visa allows you to travel out of uk for maximum of 180 days .But to cover for any surprise , take a documented official leave from your employer .

Good day all. Please I want to find out, are people from Nigeria still getting COS from care homes or I'm about to be scammed by someone with a make believe offer that I can get a 3 years caregiver job in the UK now. Are care workers from Nigeria still being employed and being offered visa?
I have already stated the obvious truth to our people here but it seems we like deception , some people were even calling me names self but It time wasting on my side for such silly engagement. .
Direct abroad recruitment for care job in UK is almost getting to its end ,people should seek alternatives route but it seems we want to open ourselves for scammer that will collect 12M from you and get you down to UK with no shifts on ground to give you.
From what i have personally witness , there are more than hundreds of innocent nigerian that were already stranded in uk right as they fall victim to such scams and with little or no shifts from their so called sponsors .And I am sure you should have a guess on how horrendous and awful it can be for someone to be living in uk with no daily income coming to you ,infact present naija situation right will be like paradise in comparison.
There are still lot of nigerian student and dependent already in uk with verifiable care experience that also looking for same sponsorship opportunities with no luck just to know you know how competitive it is becoming unlike before.
even the few reputable organizations that can give sponsorship will prefer to give sponsorship for people that already working with them and most them will not even advertise that they have license to sponsor ,you have must worked with them for up to 6 months and have passed your probation period before you get such offer.
Uk experience matters alot to employer if you much know, with that in mind now tell me how will a potential employer now leave those in uk to give it to people abroad when you have enough peope on ground t? it simple common sense na unless there is more to it.
care sponsorships from abroad Is not something that easy that falls on people lap like before , the recuitment is getting to its saturated point already , so don't fall victim to hungry scammers .
And for those people still searching from naija ,I wish you goodluck, there is no harm in trying but shine your eyes o and why not dissipate your energy to other route as this particular route don caste already .

That was too harsh abeg, you did not come in peace one bit, you should have pointed to the person to go to first, which is what I normally do as majority of the answers are there or simply ignore. You may be surprised that the person behind that moniker that you just lashed on may be old enough to birth you.
Let us treat one another with respect plssss
Let be frank, our people can be mentally lazy to engage in personal research, not good if you guys are indulging them to keep asking question that has been answered hundred times on the forum. this attitude won't help them if they are migrating to western world where everything from A to Z in living your life is "instructions on uk.gov " .Do they need to keep learning by "then say" "then say" till they kindgon come when everything has already been spelt out in black and white in uk.gov portal?

Good day everyone. Abeg I wan ask something, do people still get job offer for a care woeker job cause I've applied and applied and applied, but I keep getting these unfortunate mails. I'm not kidding, I've applied to over 1000 care homes
Let me just be frank with , recruiting carer from nigeria is getting more and more difficult by the days cos employer will naturally prefer to recruit from those within uk before looking abroad .
Even those are in uk are not getting the job on the platter of gold anymore like before as employer are now even asking for 1-2 years uk experience .You will be surprised that alot of nigerian that just arive in uk are not even getting the carer job like before and there are still a huge backlog of student that have already finished their study and hoping to use the carer route to get skilled visa and majority are yet to get such opportunities
So advice I will give people in nigeria is to look for other pathway so that u won't be wasting your time, carer pathway is as good as over, it will soon be taken off from the shortage occupation list .

Good morning honorables. I'll be in the uk in 2 weeks time. As such, I have been actively searching and applying to blue collar jobs. This would enable me get going immediatley, while I work towards getting my desired career path.

But my shock is, I have gotten a few rejection mails
for some of the blue collar jobs (mostly night shifts) that I have applied to, and it is beginning to give me a cause for concern

Any tips on how to get a job aimmediately would be greatly appreciated.
I already have BRP and NI
Two weeks is too small to start getting agitated as you need to realise that you are just starting afresh . What I will advice you it try to talk to friends, church members and colleagues that you living in same city to guide you for you to learn the rope and try to exercise patience .
what you need now to take your time to understand how the systems work and getting yourself registered into the system. It took me exactly 3 months aftert getting into uk before I can get something reasonable and since then it has been from one level to next level . Unfortunately what is obtainable is different areas differs in term of opportunities of blue collar jobs which is why u need to get close to fellow naija u met in that particular area .
Las Las , in due time everyone go dey alright .
