whitecat2:Point of correction. Lagos State is a Nigerian land that is situated in the south west of Nigeria. The south west is mostly made up of Nigerians from the Yoruba ethnic group, with the NIGERIANS from other ethnic groups making up a minority of the population in the region. You can define other NIGERIAN regions like that. As a Nigerian, I own a land when I buy it in any part of Nigeria. The land, which I have paid for, collected a certificate of occupancy (COO) for and built properties on, is owned by me even though they are in Lagos state and I am IGBO. I own the land. In general, Lagos state is owned by NIGERIANS, not just Yorubas. I know enlightened Yorubas that own lands and properties in the South East. It is theirs and can never be retrieved due to their tribes. That, is ONE NIGERIA. Fortunately, Lagos State government understands the concept of one Nigeria. FYI, I'll vote in Lagos State. I can contest for positions in Lagos state. The question of whether I'll win or not is another issue. However, Lagos state, just like other states in Nigeria, is owned by Nigerians not Yorubas as you implied. We have since gone past the era of ethnic based ownership of land. |
whitecat2:My fore fathers formed a country called Biafra and they were made to capitulate and embrace one Nigeria by your fore-fathers. It was a famous victory, and it is now my duty, as an Igbo man, to protect one Nigeria. Integration is important for one Nigeria. Integration implies being able to vote or be voted for in any part of Nigeria. I have told you that you must remove the idea of domination from your head. Nobody intends to do that. You shame the efforts of your fore-fathers when you reason like that. If Igbos were as domineering as you implied, then I don't think your fore-fathers would have deemed it fit to fight for a United cause. |
aresa:That was in the 1960s. Since then, we have fought a civil war, gone through many coup de'tats, and had several ethnic based crisis. IF WE WERE DESTINED TO DIVIDE, WE WOULD HAVE DIVIDED. In 2014, we are still together. It is time to start taking integration seriously. History is replete with the direction that the belief of the leader in the video has taken us to. |
whitecat2:I didn't ask Yorubas to lead the way. I seek for Lagos State to lead the way. If Enugu was like Lagos state, I'll ask Enugu state to do same. You are getting it wrong. This is not about tribalism or ethnicity. It is about national unity. I have properties and extended family in Lagos state. I am entitled to controlling my destiny, as a NIGERIAN, in Lagos state. Same goes for Yorubas and Hausas in other states. If we must build a United Nigeria, we must be truly integrated. Lagos is "privileged" to be the place to start this revolution from. |
AJINATU:You sound very sad. Unfortunately, it is unnecessary. I'm sure if I decide to dance to your ethnic based rants, you'll become active because it seems to fit you more. You are a Nigerian and I am a Nigerian. We are Nigerians. When you fight me, you ply a path that leads to self-destruction. Nigeria must succeed, and proper integration is the way to go. Brace up and accept it. |
whitecat2:The bolded portion of your comment is hilarious. Nobody intends to dominate you man. Trust me, nobody can dominate you. Just take a chill pill. Nigeria is big and diverse. Explore her and partake in running the nation rather than your tribe. Have you visited the North, East and South of Nigeria? Endeavor to travel to these places, and try to settle outside your tribal boundaries. Try to integrate and build Nigeria from other places. That was what your fathers fought and died for. Don't let people deceive you that it is all about oil. I thought so in the past too, but that is only half of the story. |
AJINATU:LMAO! Why are you so mad at me? Is it because I support a United Nigeria? Theodore Orji realized his mistakes and called back the non-Abians that he sacked. I believe that one day, you will wake to the reality on ground. The unity that your fathers fought for must be fostered. Nigeria is for NIGERIANS irrespective of state and local government. We must build Nigeria together. |
Collynzo419:Define what a "No Man's Land" is? There are people living in Lagos state. |
whitecat2:One day, it will happen. Same way, one day, non- IGBOs will lead in Igbo states. |
AJINATU:You sound pained and sad. Cool down, no be fight na. Your vote is your power. If an IGBO man comes out to contest in Lagos state, you need to vote to exert your approval or disapproval. No need to over-work yourself. Nigeria is on a transition. If Nigeria remains one, I say so considering the amount of hatred you spew, one day a Non-Yoruba will be governor in Lagos state. Then, other states will see the need to open up to other ethnic groups. |
Collynzo419:Try to cool down. You are overworking yourself over nothing. In history, a Hausa NIGERIAN was actually elected to administer Enugu state. That was before the civil war. Azikiwe, a south-easterner, played a part in western Nigeria's politics. We must try to replicate these in present day Nigeria for progress to be achieved. If we are one in Nigeria, we must strive to be integrated. Lagos state, as a multi-cultural cosmopolitan Nigerian city is a good place to start. I am sure that you have not tried to take part in the politics of other states. The sooner you start, the better for a United Nigeria. Is one Nigeria not what you want again? I am condemned to it. I was told that as an IGBO man, I have to stick with and die in Nigeria. My fore-fathers paid a bitter price for wanting out. I have decided to be a champion of "One Nigeria". If I live in Lagos state, I should be eligible to vote or be voted for, win or lose notwithstanding. |
oduastates:But if it happened with Tunde Bakare, it can happen with other NIGERIANS. |
Dannylux:LMAO! It never does. |
oduastates:In essence, you are saying that we are better off divided? |
schrondinger:@ the bolded: Who does not expect Yahaya to win elections in Akwa Ibom? Why can't Yahaya win elections in Akwa Ibom. Has Yahaya attempted to do so? How do you know that he won't win? |
LogicPower:I said so because Lagos state is not as close to being an ethnic enclave as most other Nigerian states. The ethnic homogeneity has evaporated from Lagos state hence making it a true depiction of what a United Nigeria should be. If the aim for keeping Nigeria United is to foster integration, then Lagos need to be used as an example for other states to follow. If you love Nigeria and you want to see her succeed, you will know that this is very important. I don't see the connection between integration and ethnic domination. That Igbos are striving to take part in the governance of Lagos state will not distort the historical antecedents of Lagos state. It will only open up Nigeria for integration. I just think we need to choose between integration and disintegration. One of the reasons why Nigeria is not experiencing progress is the confusion brought about by our version of unity. It is more like a "disintegrated integration". |
AJINATU:Ewwww, you sound so pained and frustrated. Tone down your insults, you can really make your point without using abusive words. Are you suggesting that the aim of IGBOS to partake in the governance of Lagos state is wrong? Why? Are Igbos not Nigerians? How do you know that you will not be given an opportunity to partake in politics in South Eastern states? Have you tried? I think we should be clear about what we want as Nigerians. A United Nigeria means that NIGERIANS must be free to live and partake in the Nigerian project from any state they choose. Lagos state, by virtue of history, happens to be a good example of Nigerianness. If it is only Yorubas that must lead in Lagos state, which is not befitting for a cosmopolitan NIGERIAN city, then we must start to question what being a Nigerian means? You need to cool down. You sound hypertensive. |
oduastates:What I don't understand is how people like you want One Nigeria, but is so scared of practicing One Nigeria. What then was the civil war fought for? I can see that your mates are quick to like your comment. You guys should be sure of what you want. If you want Lagos for yourselves, why did you waste men and resources trying to stop the emergence of Biafra? Hummmm? |
Lagos is ripe for advanced political reasoning and multi-ethnic governance. Lagos state is miles ahead of other states in Nigeria. Many Nigerians from other ethnic groups are more Lagosian than their original ethnic group. The state should lead the way in showing other states the beauty of multi-ethnic governance in Nigeria. All these ethno-religious considerations impede the unity and progress of Nigeria. The minds of the new generation is corrupted by such considerations. In Lagos, kids are born together and mix up with eachother in playgrounds, school, churches and mosques without caring about ethnicity. It is only the grounded TRIBALISTIC social system that separates them and causes strife, suspicion and ethnic hatred as soon as they evolve into adulthood. If we are indeed NIGERIANS, we should be seen as being Nigerian first before being Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Efik, Urhobo, Tiv etc. Lagos, as a cosmopolitan city, must lead the way. |
This Sowore go chop koboko and frog jump tire the day wey dem go sight am near barracks. This guy is so so st-upid for insulting the Nigerian army. If you no fit be soja, no buy form o! If you can't fight, avoid the Nigerian army. IT IS NOT COMPULSORY TO JOIN. The bunch of fo-ols that were sentenced to death knew that the Nigerian army use AK47s. They knew that the Nigerian army use obsolete weapons before joining. They pranced about and intimidated citizens in their camos and khakis in times of peace. They rode public buses free of charge. Now it is time to fight, they have turned ASUU. Cowards! Who send them market? Nobody should blame GEJ for the current state of the Nigerian army. This was the army that he met and it was past leaders that deliberately oversaw the rot in the army. He can only strive to change it, but he is not the cause of the rot. People like Buhari, IBB, ABACHA, OBJ etc should be questioned. They killed the army. Once again, if you cannot fight, don't join the Nigerian army, and if you don't join, try to respect the men of the Nigerian army. If you join, however, be ready to fight with your fists if possible. For cowards like Sowore, keep away from the Nigerian army and give the real strong men the opportunity to join. Stop compacting the military quota shikena! |
Rawani:I carefully put TRIED in quotation marks because Buhari did not succeed in clamping down on corruption during his tenure. Currently, your messiah is colluding with known thieves and international drug barons in your so called progressives. They include Atiku, Tinubu, Amaechi, Sylva to name a few. If he couldn't end corruption in two years as a military ruler with unilateral powers, how can he now end corruption when his closest political allies are CORRUPT and when he encounters hurdles from a corrupt system consisting of other arms of government? |
Rawani:In essence BUHARI "tried" to Save Money, Discourage Indiscipline, Clamp down on Corruption and Withstand Western Influence. If GEJ HAD ACHIEVED THESE THINGS THAT YOU LISTED OUT WITHOUT TOUCHING CRITICAL SECTORS LIKE POWER, AGRICULTURE, EDUCATION, TRANSPORTATION, ELECTORAL REFORMS, FDI etc would you have been more satisfied with him? Just asking because many NIGERIANS now seem to be blinded by ethno-religious and political affiliation. Imagine what you call achievements. They are not even up to what GEJ has achieved despite his purported incompetence. Meanwhile, a Nigerian minister under GEJ now lead the same OPEC whose policy Buhari antagonized. Is that an achievement by GEJ? |
lekhane:If the, so called, Buhari's achievements were easy to find, why are APC supporters not eager to claim Okupe's cash? They should claim it and laugh at him. The fact that they have not done so has vindicated Okupe's argument. Don't tell me that they see no need to do so. If they are so rich, they should dare GEJ's SUPPORTERS With the same amount of money. After all, they claim that GEJ has not achieved anything. |
trekkie:Thanks for the correction. Honest mistake. |
The Nigerian military yesterday warned politicians and activists against against actions capable of inciting or endorsing indiscipline in the Nigerian Arm Forces. In a statement signed by the Director Defence Information, Maj.General Chris Olukolade, it said the call became necessary “as the trend got to another level on Tuesday when a prominent politician declared that “The soldiers have the right to protest for the Federal Government’s failure to fully equip them”. The statement said that “It was expected that the fellow quoted or his party would have made immediate moves to correct this fallacy or erroneous impression being propagated especially in view of the level of knowledge of his principal and candidate in forthcoming elections. Unfortunately, no such gesture seem to be forthcoming. There is therefore the need to caution against the propagation of this dangerous idea before it causes more problems. “For the avoidance of any doubt, the military institution rejects this declaration and its intention in all ramifications. The military law as recognized by the Constitution of the Federation is an appropriate legal document for the management of affairs of the military. The processes it outlines for handling military offences remain legal and will continue to be applied in the interest of the nation’s security and democracy. “Individuals and interest groups seeking to play to the gallery by being meddlesome, sensational or mischievous in interpreting developments in the military are advised to moderate their activities with some decorum. It is clear that the false accusations that depend on unsubstantiated allegations being peddled on the military operations in Nigeria are intended to tarnish the reputation of Nigerian military and its leadership. The campaign apparently aimed at undermining constituted authority in the military must not be encouraged. “It is obvious that most of the comments and sensational stories in the media have been oblivious of the fact that the processes are still ongoing and yet to be concluded. The war on terror is not all about equipment but mindset of both the military and the public. Inciting remarks can only compound the situation for all involved. “The military is resolved to prosecute the counter terrorism campaign with all sense of commitment by the rank and file. The tendency to suggest or encourage dissention in the system will not yield any advantage to any well-meaning Nigerian citizen. Politicians are therefore requested to guide their utterances as the military remains a veritable institution of the state. Those who seek to undermine or destroy it should be prevailed upon to stop the mission considering the fact that the institution remains indispensable to government and its process under any dispensation. “The Nigerian military reiterates its commitment to defending the nation’s democracy. Individuals and personalities are enjoined to refrain from pronouncement and attitude that seek to undermine the established justice/disciplinary procedures and processes of the military system. This counsel is very vital to the excellent civil-military relations which is crucial to the nation’s development. “Incitement to protests or mutiny in the military is an ill wind that will ultimately blow no good to anyone. The military authorities should not be blackmailed with a view to forestalling the exercise of due command and control over the system as established by law in the interest of the nation. The Nigerian military has resolved not to yield to whims and caprices of those seeking to undermine its system purely for populist or political ends” it stated. lekhane:If there is indeed no correct answer, that means the Buhari did not achieve anything whilst in power. For this dude to stake over 200k for an answer, he is sure that BUHARI achieved nothing. CAN THOSE AGAINST GEJ STAKE THE SAME AMOUNT ON THE SAME QUESTION? No be big risk be that? |
Op, don't be demoralized. Be strong and strive to move on. The same thing happened to me more than ten years ago. I was thoroughly embarrassed and mocked by some of my NYSC colleagues. For some reasons, they saw me as a threat due to my charisma, outspokenness and cash loadedness. Yeah, I got the ladies and attention more, not my fault though. my Zonal Inspector (Zed Aii) publicly humiliated me just because the course that I did in Nigeria lost accreditation. That was the day I lost hope in my country. At first I was devastated, but I moved on. I just left Nigeria quickly, which I swore not to do in the past even though I had the means, and took another citizenship (dual though). Within 5 years, I got my PhD. Now, some of my colleagues that laughed at me and completed their NYSC have applied to work in my company (most them are not aware). I plan to go into politics one day and I'm targeting the educational sector. The St-upid NUC and educational sector needs serious deliverance. Don't give up, just go back to the drawing board, examine your options and do what you have to do. If you have to wait to be mobilized, then wait. If you can't, move on to other endeavors that does not require NYSC certificate. Atleast, until you are qualified for an exemption letter. Most importantly, DON'T GIVE UP! |

It is indeed a shame that a party with a political gem like Fashola chose a septuagenarian that is known for his autocratic track record just for ethnocentric reasons. IT IS A SHAME AND REALLY HEARTBREAKING. |
The emergence of a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), appears to have changed the political calculations in the northern part of Nigeria. Sunday Vanguard learnt, last night, from very competent sources, that many of the northern political opinion leaders and groups had decided that all necessary support must be given to Buhari to win the February 14, 2015 presidential election so as to return power to them. Chairman of the northern influential group, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, lent credence to the move when he insisted that power, next year, must shift to the North. Coomassie spoke during an interview with Sunday Vanguard. But the Presidency, through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, said Nigerians will not vote their next President on the basis of ethnicity. One of the sources, an influential northern leader and close confidante of President Goodluck Jonathan, revealed that since Buhari’s emergence, the ‘entire North’ had adopted Buhari as its political candidate and was not afraid to stand by him to win the 2015 election. The PDP big wig pointed out that it was shocking to see how the support base of the APC presidential candidate had evolved beyond political lines, with some radical elements threatening to deal ruthlessly with anyone who betrays Buhari in the North. “There is a serious change in the political mood in the North since Buhari was elected as the APC candidate last week. Right now, the people do not care whether they are in APC or PDP. All they are interested in is that power must return to the North through the election of the former Head of State”, a northern governor supportive of Jonathan’s presidential bid told Sunday Vanguard, yesterday. “What is really worrying those of us who are perceived to be pro-Jonathan’s governors or supporters is the open threat messages being made directly to our phones”. It was learnt that some radical northern leaders have also been sending threat messages to some of their governors and leaders believed to be working for Jonathan’s victory in the 2015 poll to stop the support or be dealt with. The governor, who spoke to Sunday Vanguard, showed two of such threat messages written in Hausa and English to him, warning him not to betray the North for the President as he did in the last presidential election. One of the mails came from a ranking federal northern lawmaker while the other was from a man the governor described as his friend. It was learnt that the current political mood in the North had since been relayed by the security agencies and some friendly PDP governors to Jonathan, who apparently expressed surprise over the turn of events but promised to do something urgent to swing support in his favour. The President was said to have assured northern governors that he would fulfill the promises he made to them during his 2011 campaign, but it could not be established whether that would be before or after the next election. Please, produce facts if you have any and stop tarnishing the image of the man. Looks can be deceiving. If you have facts, produce them so that he will be made to step down. That does not, however, mean that I support his partnership with Buhari. It is a partnership that has failed on arrival. |
This is not SUG election, it is the PRESIDENTIAL election. It takes votes beyond Unilag, residents of Akoka and Lagos state to give victory to an aspirant. I'm sure you are aware of this, I just wanted to remind you just incase you have forgotten. |

Freudian slip perhaps?
