I agree the selection is not easy, especially during this time of economic recession which has led to them having large numbers of volunteers who want to join. The selection process involves an IQ test, a medical test (including HIV testing), and a physical fitness test. I think it is the physical fitness test that most Nigerians would find difficult, all man dey huzzle for pepper and no body wan go gym for exercise  grin. That aside, the fact remains that it is a legitimate option for an illegal immigrant to get the French passport after 5 years of service. No harm in going to try it out for Nigerians living illegally, after all they provide feeding and accommodation throughout the process of selection, FREE FOOD grin grin grin
You really think that many Nigerians are not aware of this route? I mean. . .this program has being going on for years!!.

God bless you for confirming the validity of this option. Tigerpaws has been calling me a Scammer on another thread just because I suggested this option to a guy stranded in the EU, rather than pursue the asylum option. That been said, their website clearly states that they will teach a volunteer the French language during training, albeit "knocking" it into your head using all means necessary. Anybody wey join dem go learn French by force within a month, they will "grind" it into you grin grin grin
God help you if Tigerpaws is on ur case grin grin grin, u need to see shriek grin grin.

Seriously, there must be a reason (s) why some Nigerians have't taken that route, learning French in a month is not 'beans' i did not see many Africans enrolling into the program, there are alot of Germans, British, Eastern Europeans and Latin Americans. I don't think that the selection progress is as easy as stated on their website.

Whatever your origin, religion, nationality, regardless of your diplomas and grade level, regardless of your family or employment situation, the Foreign Legion offers a new chance for a new life , Why oh why are my fellow Nigerians not aware that this option exists?! Or could it be that Nigerians living illegally in the EU are aware of this option, but would rather prefer to continue living illegally rather than join a foreign army?!
Official FFL website>>>http://legion-recrute.com/en/?SM=0
I read abit about this Foreign Legion thing and watched some clips about it, its true but tough.

The training is not for any weak mind, if u can't learn French language quick then don't bother as all the commands and instructions are in French.

@justwise! Thank you very much on your prompt response, i really appreciate it!, 2 more things pal
1)I have put my deposit in my account to run for the 28days as normal, the account has been mine for over 4years now and in my name, a friend has told me to include my parents' property documents and salary pay slip, also with a letter from my parents in my visa application indicating that they are responsible for my expenses to increase my chances, but I am thinking my parents shouldn't have any thing to do with my application since the money has been in my own personal account and i intend to put in the visa application that I am the one sponsoring myself., does my parent have to write a letter of sponsorship or present their documents, it doesn't concern them i think? 2)I work, but i cannot present my payslip or job appointment letter to the UKBA as part of application document due to some reasons , as such i want to tell UKBA that i don't work since i can't present the documents at the moment, is it ok that way? Also during my application to the school i submitted an employment refrence letter as part of my addmission documents,i hope the school wouldn't have iunformed ukba tru CAS already that i work as against my claim that i dont work? Thanks justwise, am sorry am writing long notes, its just in a bidto make my points clear enough! Thanks!
Please keep ur application simply, stick to student visa requirements, u don't need to add ur parent's property documents and u don't need a letter from ur parents only if u are under 16 yrs of age. As for the issue of employment, i don't think that ur school will send such info to BHC, i really doubt.

HI all, This is a very impressive forum and i must confess i have gained alot.
Actually I have my CAS already for the UNiversity of Northampton but I have an issue, I paid 4250 to the school and indicated in my fx form and Telex i submitted to the school in request for my CAS that 4000 was tuition and 250 for my accomodation and I have filled an online accomodation form, but on sending me my CAS they didnt indicated that i paid 250 for accomodation, they only stated (total amount paid til date=4250) they didnt state that i paid for accomodation. 1)Now my concern is in my visa application, should i state that i have paid for accomodation or i should just leave it and assume the totalty of the money is tuition?
2) another fear is that i have been told if one pays an accomodation deposit, chances of visa is higher that paying without accomodation, that is why i have indicated that 250 was for accomodation in the telex i sen to the school, but they have not put it as that in my CAS,  I hope not paying an accomodation deposit doesnt reduce chances of ones visa?

Please urgent reply, thanks!
Paying for accommodation is not part of visa requirements, leave the £4250 as fees and considerate in meeting other requirements.

You just dont get it. Nobody is saying what he did is right. For once use your brain and think; If he had been a citizen of Britain would this news make headlines?
And calling him my Nigerian brother, is he is  also not your Nigerian brother? we have a saying: "Orisiri omo lo wa ni le alagbara" your people have their own bad eggs. No?
I think you are being very silly to focuse on the fact that he was called a Nigerian rather than the crime he committed. If you don't want your good Nigerian name to be dragged through the mud then STOP stealing, the USA media got every right to blow it out of proportion, airport security is a major issue, anything about airport security problem makes the news.

I wouldn't call any thieving mor/on my Nigerian brother.

What exactly is the crime now! Is it the stealing or the illegal passes? If na the passes, to me it's no big deal! Na security dull themselves abeg!

It's a normal everyday thing at Lagos local airport!
Both are crimes, its a crime to steal boarding pass and also a crime to use it to board a flight WITHOUT paying.

So because it happens in Lagos airport its not a crime anymore?

Abeg!!!!Who has their time.
The point u are missing here is that he stole those boarding passes, you don't see anything wrong with that? Yes the security at the airport was poor but he was caught with 10more passes which doesn't belong to him.

@ lucenzo and ypad,
racism/tribalism has clouded your brain so much you cant think straight. The question you should av asked is:
Is a Nigerian the first/only person to board a plane with a fake pass? Or why so much noise? If it were a briton would it av made headlines?
With people like u, I wonder when/how this country will develop. Since tribalism is the other of the day, I wonder what we are still doing together as one Nigeria.
I would have reciprocated in full if not that I have some very nice detribalised igbo friends.
By the way, if u want to start a war of words/ tribal war, am waiting impatiently.

You are even a bigger fool, he is a criminal , he was found with 10 stolen boarding passes, that is enough to shame you, those stolen boarding pass belongs to an innocent pple, why would ur Nigerian brother go about nicking them? I don't care whether other white or red pple have done the same b4, i'm worried about Nigeria cos i will be treated as one and NOT British or American

I beg sharap you know how many Americans jump on flights like this with fake id and all ? Anytime its a Nigerian you all go crazy. Even within Nigeria. One time I booked a flight to abuja and I had to leave the country or something then I had another friend who wanted to go to abuja he used my boarding pass LOS to ABJ and made a fake ID on my name to use it. I'm not justifying this but a lot of people do this daily. Even some ticketing agents are involed.
You are a fool, so u are proud of that?

That's the spirit, when you have not commited an offence, virgin passport or not they have no right to delay you unless they have solid evidence to detain you.

Don't let any immigration officer bully you into submission, if they ask you for anything, simply tell them you don't have, zip up and be on your way.
I refused to give them even the naira i had on me that day, i had about 10 Nigerian home movies and they accused me on taking more than enough for personal use then i dropped 6 with them and that was all they got from me. Shameless pple.

Oh naive nairalanders!!!

Anybody in uniform in the MMA has paid good money to be posted there, anyone in uniform at MMA makes remittances regularly to his/her bosses at head office in Lagos or Abuja. then you expect them to rely on their salary? This is the Nigerian culture. If you have a job that puts in touch with the public - you make money (this was told me in 1987 when I just finished youth service by a civil servant - almost 25 years ago!!)

This has nothing to do with GEJ, Buhari, OBJ, Ribadu, etc or with your tribe or religion, it has become our way of life and all of us encourage it. We encourage by not only paying the bribes but by expecting our friends and relatives to live beyond their means. Nearly every uniformed officer in MMA is paying some relatives school fees apart from his own children, ie living beyond his means.

so if you think that one person making a protest, not paying and missing his/her flight is going to change anything,
So what? Why do u hav to depend on my money to look after ur relatives? God help any criminal in uniform who will make me miss my flight anyday, u will not even have a boss to report back to let alone having a job after i'm done with u.
