enfield:
Hi all
My friend was recently removed from the uk even though she has a valid visitors visa. She was arrested at an employment agency with a fake passport attempting to get work. She was cautioned and told the police she had a confirmed ticket to naija in the next 2 days.she was asked to produce this and she did,yet she was removed.she feels she was unfairly treated.can she seek any remedy even though she's back home now eg not having to serve a 10yr travel ban
I share her view and her pain.Is it posssible for her to travel to another country say canada or australia
thanks for your views and possible leads
She deserved every treatment she recieved from the immigration. What were she doing with fake passport? She can try another country, there is no guarantee that she will be given a visa. Was her UK visa cancelled?

Good Topic

I just think that nothing beats getting a good sound qualitative education. It stands you out globally.

I do not mean the polytechnics that have just become universities especially in the UK.

Consider schools within the top range of the business community globally (Bloomberg, Financial Times, Business week, Forbes etc)

A lot of the universities in the top range amongst the group such as Imperial, Manchester Warwick, Aston, LSE, LBS-UK, Cambridge, Birmingham etc have affiliation and are recognised globally via AACSB.Also you need to consider the Alumni of the schools. This will aid you in your future careers. I believe this plays a strong part in your career.

Imagine a scenario where you meet with students who attended your pry or secondary school. You either come across as a mentor or mentee and naturally have a preferance relating to them (this is evident amongst kings College Old boys and glaringly visible in most organisations).

I also believe the norm that events around the world will always revolve and repeat themselves again.

There was a time when our forefathers who had foresight travelled to study abroad. Even some of our parents who had the opportunity did the same and it surely did pay off.

I also consider the argument that if you've got a job, you should hold on to it. But for how long?

Your employers will expect you to develop yourself professionally to be able to add value to the organisation.

Keep in mind that some younger dude who was fortunate to attend LSE or Harvard may get a juicer position and dictate to you.

China used to be a domesticated economy but has now become a global force to reckon with. Even Harvard Business School has a regional study centre in China considering the integration going on in the world.

The need for qualitative education is important. The benefits may not be immediate but it surely will pay off.

I want to believe that a foreign degree at a qualitative school will ultimately be of benefit though it may not be immediate.

nigeria will not remain the same in the next few years (at least five years).

Once power and infrastructure improves, opportunity will definitely be created.

Any contrary views, I am open to learn from other.

cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
How many of us can afford to study in those top universities u mentioned?

@Justwise: the poster is going for UNDEGRADUATE studies. By the new rule, s/he CANNOT sponsor dependants and therefore cannot take his/her children to the UK  except the student is Government Sponsored.
This is getting serious, what  u said was mentioned in the Summary of the new student policy but they failed to mention it in the Tier 4 policy guidance. Thanks for pointing that out.

Read the policy guidance on Can students bring their partners and/or children with them?

They don't even bother to update it.

That £300 or so they would pay you for the apartment would serve them well at Liverpool street market/bond street and excess luggage at Heathrow airport
. . . and many holiday makers have been conned with this, you pay deposit, get to London and went to the address given only to be faced with the real owner of the house who got no clue at all that his or her house has been rented out.
Hello all,

I am a Nigerian based in the UK and I have observed over the years that a lot of Nigerians visits the UK frequently for their holiday, what i noticed over the years is that people stay with friends and family in small UK houses. Holiday is a time to relax and enjoy yourself but the UK tight houses does not allow this when you end up sleeping in the living room of a friend on a sofa.

We can take this trouble away by getting you a serviced apartment in any location of your choice in the UK either in the same city with friends and family or in a different good holiday location. There are other services we can also provide during your holiday. Please use our email address on our profile if you need to contact us.
Do you have an office in the Uk where one can visit u ?

Racism"s still rive in Germany.I have a friend over there who told me that there are some areas that non whites dont go to.The Western part is not that as racist as the eastern part but then its still present in western part.I recall during the 2006 world cup the white nationalist movement in Germany made a point on air about the safety of non white visitors in doubt if they dared attempted visiting the eastern part during the world cup finals.
Why do we always pick up race card each time a thing like this happens? The police officer has to defend herself, unfortunately the woman died. There are some places in Nigeria that some Nigerians wouldn't step foot into let alone a white man or woman.

Apart from the closure of several routes to economic migration such as PSW getting the visa itself is now very much difficult. The English language requirement is not easy to achieve, many applicants may need to sit for IELTS at least twice before they can meet up with the required band score and regsitering for many of these English exams in places like Nigeria could be very diffuclt spaces get filled up like a speed of light.

I know someone who tried to register for IELTS few weeks ago in Nigeria he was told that the latest available date is in August! so I believe the UK will witness a signifanct reduction from influx of foreign students in the next few years ahead I believe there may even be a reduction of more than 50%, bad business awaits many private colleges and many will be out of business very soon.

That will be the case soon, the private colleges are at the worst end of it.

you are probably right. i hope if i were in the right it is only a small minority that would take that chance.
Believe me many Nigerians don't know the real deal untill they get to the UK, and some Nigerians in the UK are not helping matters, they use prospective students as cash machine, tell them how they can work and pay fees and even send money home.

One agent here who thought i was interested in studying in the UK told me that i can even work with visitor's visa and save up for my school fees or that i can marry British or EU citizen to get my papers. All the emails are still with me, i'm waiting for him to come back here to say jack.

some use the study route as a means of economic migration never having the intention to study. unfortunately they are the reason the authorities keep making travel difficult for the genuine students.
Well. . i can't see anybody doing that now, i mean. . after paying million to schools here, i don't think anybody would want to leave that waste and go under-ground.
