rony250: well i got your point Assuming that award reference number is the same as TRF number.i'll write 12 digit & make a note on additional notes. But do i leave the space blank in award date bcoz there is space for only one date. & bro you are awesome If there is only one space for date then write the validation date and the other date should be written in the blank space and make a note to remain the ECO what its and why u write it there. What is TRF? |

Siena: In a country where not much works, and justice isn't served, there's very little choice. I agree, bribery and corruption shouldn't be the order of the day, but all depends on how much time you have to stand arguing with these guys, and how valuable your time is to you. You may not have committed any offence, but they can delay you for hours, even if they eventually allow you to pass, without extorting any money from you. Such is life in Nigeria, we don't neccessarily like it, but we learn to live with it. I take your points, yes its frustrating to be kept waiting aruging with pple who are used to taking bribe with impunity but that is frustration i'm ready to accept and i have done it 2x, the first time was coupple of yrs ago as a first time traveler, virgin passport and i was picked on. my luggage was searched, few Nigerian home movies i had with me was seized and they were asking for bribe, i stood my ground, i had some Naira with me which they wanted me to part-way with but i said no, yes i was detained untill the public address system started calling my name, at that time i raised my voice to attract more attention, then a senior immigration officer turned up and asked them to let me off. The second one was 3yrs ago, the same problem, the immigration officer asked if i got anything to delcare i said no, he asked me to step aside and i did, he was busy attending to pple who are ready to play the game, after about 10mins i asked him if i could go and he said i need to drop something, i was furious, i asked: Drop something for what? Tell me why i should pay you to get into Nigeria, at that time he said. .'abeg carry your prob go' I just hate the whole system of paying for something that supposed to be free, i don't mind appreciating somebody for job well-done, but not those criminals |

rony250: yup dat link was a great help for me. Prob is in ielts result sheet has only test report form number which is 18 digit long but award reference number has only 12 box in visa form. As there are two date on test report one is exam date & the other is below validation stamp, which one to take If the space provided is not enough, it could be that they only want 12digit out of 18 u have HOWEVER, don't 4get to use the blank space provided in the form to write down the full 18digit and make a note beside it explaining why u did that. For the IELTS. . do this, write the two dates. . e.g:07/02/2011 (exam date) 08/02/2011 (validation date). In doing that, u are leaving no stone unturned, the ECO will choose the appropriate one. |

tEsLim: My travels so far has been smooth. Abroad I dont ever have problems its like walk through. But from Naija the immigration ppl here are my own problem. They ask me questions that annoys me like asking to show them proof or documents i obtained my visa with or what business I do. I remember one time coming back from World cup last year from South Africa and I did a lot of shopping for the family then the immigration guy here was asking me for bribe and I was like look i shopped with all my money I have nothing. Then he told me frankly that he could make me wait here for the next 24hrs that best i could do is just to co-operate then i asked what was wrong. Then he told me all cloths from abroad that i'm bringing into naija was contraband blah blah poo. That why should I shop abroad; aren't there shops in naija, i was so mad at this dude later he asked for 10k naira but shame on me I later called him outside and gave him 1k naira after he told other officers i was clear to go. Since then I always keep naira in my pocket when going so i can bribe stupidos on landing You are part of the problem then, why do you have to bribe him when u haven't committed any offence? When did shopping abroad for personal use become a crime in Nigeria? |

. . . .when u get to the UK, u will direct u to the immigration where ur passport and visa will be checked, the immigration officer may ask you few questions and ur course or other things then ur passport will be stamped and u head to the luggage area to pick ur luggage then off u go, email ur school about ur flight details, many schools do pick pple up from the airport. |

former: I'm here again, to rant this time around, come tuesday, I'll be going to the UK for studies, I booked my flight with a Travel bureau and gave me a kind of "electronic ticket receipt" with the flight details on it. I think I'm ok with that? What must I do on getting to the airport? Cuz my first and the last (till date) visit to the airport was when i was a kid. I'll like to know the usual process like the entrance to the counter, to the security check, bla bla bla as i don't want people to look at me like "WTF!! Who is this guy??" I'm just nervous, though i know it's not worth it. *Rant over*Thanks. Nothing wrong with ur 'ranting', you are actually doing the right thing. When u are leaving for the UK, avoid carrying too many luggages, one and a hand luggage where ur passport and ticket will be kept. Go to the airport early enough, ur flight time and gate will be displayed on the screen there in waiting hall, if u are confused about anything, ask those immigration officers hanging around there, don't bribe anybody, they may try to intimate you as a first time traveler but don't give in, they can't stop you from boarding the flight, you will see many pple traveling with the same flight. Please do not help anybody to carry ANYTHING, no matter how small its. |

Lorcan: Nigerian do claim refugee status in Ireland. http://www.independent.ie/national-news/fury-over-pound8m-bribe-to-deport-nigerians-335369.html http://www.immigrationcontrol.org/portlaoise.html Two local TD running for election have told me they plan to tighten immigration law for Non EU citizens. They also said that: 1) if an migrants is living in the state and commits a crime they will be deported 2) Raise the citizenship to ten years to get citizenship, during that time if the migrants breaks the law within that time deportation 3) Cut their housing benefits etc and save the tax payers money. Funny how you have never once mention your fellow citizen Pamela Izevbekhai who has cost the Irish taxpayer millions in legal aid with her so called bogus stories. Or the Nigerians caught crossing the water to the UK claiming welfare there also. http://www.independent.ie/national-news/the-welfare-cheaters-who-tried-to-beat-the-system-62263.html Nigerians are the largest tuberculosis group amongst the African-born. Immigrants arrive Ireland compulsory testing Yes some of those stories are really sad ones, i don't support anybody who cheats the system, but that doesn't mean that all Nigerians living in Ireland are like that. You don't need to insult all Nigerians cos of the sin of afew. Those who tried to claim asylum there were refused, b4 they found other meand of staying in the country |

Lorcan: EU citizen can live and work in Ireland. But can't claim social welfare unless they have paid PAYE. Now Nigerian taxi men. Who bought then License Plates? no the Nigerians didn't pay for them. The HSE did. Again Irish taxypayer money Europeans such as Polish etc have to pay PRSI contributions and be working a number of years before they can claim. Most Irish people know that Nigerians claim refugees status then tranfer money to Ireland and then buy cars etc. No Nigerians haven't contrubutied to Irish society. In fact they have milked the system. That is why the last Minister Malcolm McDowell cut housing benefit for refugees etc. Funny how they claim to be refugees and then flying back to Nigeria for holidays etc. At least the Easteren Europeans worked while in Ireland, unlike the Nigerians who sponge of the Irish taxpayers with fake refugee bogus claims etc. But with the recession in Ireland most Irish companies won't be employing Nigerians. What they do I've been told is when they get CV's they bin them when they see African names etc on C.Vs Most of the things u said here are just out of anger and fustration, i don't see how a Nigerian can claim refugee in Ireland while there is no war or natural disaster in Nigeria.Nigerians are not entitled to refugee status,(give me a source to support your claim) Yes there maybe some Nigerians claiming benefit, but u don't have to blame them, Many Nigerians work and pay into the system, if they claim benefit legitimately then there is nothing wrong with that. From what u said there, it means that EU citizens do claim as well? |

Lorcan: Some have mention on this that Nigerians are working as Taxi driver. What they don't mention is that the HSE give them the money to buy these licence plate. Again taxpayer money. Yes the Irish are leaving Ireland to go to Canada and Australia and the USA to look for work. No they not going to claim refugee status and seek free housing, free health etc unlike the Nigerians or Africans living in Ireland. Does the name Pamela Izevbekhai ring a bell. How many Nigerian have comitted fraud? Other Europeans are leaving Irish due to the recession in Ireland. But the different is they can live and work in Ireland but can't claim social welfare etc.
Why do you think they had the referendum on citizenship 2003? Are you saying that Europeans can't claim social welfare in Ireland? Those Nigerians working as tax drivers do pay tax as well, don't 4get that. |
