asatin007: Hello house, I just joined today and I see the great work you guys have been doing here. Please I have a very important question to ask regarding accommodation.
I have realized that the university owned accommodation is too expensive and would prefer to live outside. What type of accommodation would be ideal to secure so that I’m able to defend the “where would you be staying” interview question. For now though, I have booked a hotel around the campus for 2 nights but I know that doesn’t answer the question. That is just the right thing to do and will see through the interview, when you get to the UK you sort out permanent accommodation |

Perfecttouch: I am not trying to advertise anybody here but till now, it still baffles me. So on Monday, I went to the ibadan immigration office for passport, I already had my birth certificate and state of origin with my passports intact. So I met one Mr - - - - - - - - - an immigration officer who told me 28k will get me my passport in 3-9 months but 45k will get me my passport in a week or at most 2 weeks. Well I went for the 45k own. Filled the form like others, waited and did the interview like others Did capturing and did all necessary things. Though it took me almost 5hours of waiting, interview and capturing. I left around 4pm. I was surprised when Mr - - - - - - - - called me my passport is ready around 2pm the following day that my passport is ready. I was skeptical cos I followed due process and did exact things others did. So I went, Mr - ---- called people in the capturing room to help me fast track my passport. I met alot of people sitting down for verification and thumbprinting to verify,(met about 60 people outside the verification room) I got to know this when I went into the verification /collection room. So inside the verification room, I met about 8 people, I was the 9th person and in no time, they put my passport in one small engine beside the computer and I was told to thumbprint like others did and I signed and was given my passport.
I had to meet some people to confirm if I wasn't duped and I was told it is the original. So In my mind I was like, SO THIS IS REALLY POSSIBLE IN NIGERIA? was told those that paid 28k,their passports are intentionally delayed so they could pay extra charge to collect it.
Ps: my information my filled online by them, the printout with one green form I filled was put inside a folder then taken to the interview room by some immigration officer different from the mr------- I paid.

Aussie2doc: oga we don hear. The article was published since Wednesday and Thursday by major newspapers. If the doctors got tier 2 in less than 5 days after they were bounced at the border, it further confirms that the initial visa waiver was genuine especially since the UK visa collection center is yet to resume. The lesson here is....never assume you know all next time. I know deep down you know the doctors were travelling genuinely otherwise it won't even worth the response from a whole minister and something generating such a media attention would have attracted a rebuttal from UK embassy in nigeria if it is not genuine. Pride is making it difficult for you to accept so I understand. I don't, so you are making an unfounded assumptions, and i don't know if truly those doctors have traveled. |

Aussie2doc: old news. The minister said those things two days ago and he didn't tell you they have not left. That news was on Wednesday. He was indirectly begging doctors not to leave. He didn't say they left or not. And like I earlier told you, they told them to keep quiet about the eventual departure. Once a Nigerian minister tells you that he can't confirm wether they have left or not....what do you think he was saying? And those guys didn't leave without visa....a waiver is equivalent to visa. Just like nysc certificate and exemption. Bottom line is that you are posting old news Story for the gods, they were told to keep quiet for what exactly? Nigeria and the UK doesn't have any visa waiver agreement so how can a recruitment agency get one for doctors traveling for work? If at all those doctors left Nigeria they did that with tier 2 visa and not visa waiver. Old news? An article published today? |

How can I apply for my daughter and I without my husband because he lives and works in US and does not plan to come live in the Uk but visit only till I finish my studies. Now the question is, how do I apply without him because part of tier 4 requirement is both parents have to apply.
Note: My daughter has a US passport. That requirement is open to interpretation and in your case you can travel with your daughter without your husband. You need a written consent letter from him and also an explanation as to why he will not be traveling with you, the reason you gave here is good enough..he lives and work in US so will not be able to leave his job to travel with you people but he will be visiting. Contact your school to know if they have family facilities especially for single mums then include those info in your application...you will be fine. Its important that you show that you have enough money for you and your daughter as well. |

Aussie2doc: just one question....if you don't have visa or waiver...what is there to even sort out in the first instance? So you mean if I decide to travel to America tommorrow without visa and they don't allow me to board, my organisation will be working it out with immigration. Is that even news worthy? Does that make sense? If there was no waiver, they were supposed to be sent to the British. That they were trying to sort it with nigeria immigration means they had no problems with the British isn't it? For your information, the president of resident doctors is just a politician. There is nothing they were sorting out yesterday. You mean you don't believe that article from GUARDIAN UK? It is not Nigerian guardian newspaper. Na UK own . You think they don't know what they are saying when they said the doctors left. Anyway, make we rest. Wetin be my own self. Make border open make I resume in Australia. Yes if you claimed that the organisation arranged with American govt and visa waiver letter was sent to you then the immigration stops you from boarding the organisation has to sort that out with immigration. The guardian newspaper did not confirm it, they simply said what they heard from experts That is the Nigerian guardian and not the UK, pay close attention to the web address to know the difference |

Aussie2doc: How does this show that the doctors were not given visa waiver? NIGERIAN govt can stop anyone from travelling. No one is disputing that. What I am against is you saying the visa waiver was not genuine. If you notice, no one on the side of UK govt has come out to say the waiver is not genuine. Did you notice that? What our govt was saying was that they didn't communicate with the ministry of foreign affairs since the country is on lockdown. How can the president of resident doctors resolve issues that has to do with visa and international travels? The fact is this.....1) they were issued waiver genuinely 2) Ngerian govt was not happy 3) They capitalised on the lapses of lockdown and the waiver to deny them boarding. Don't you think NIS would have called UK immigration and assuming they told them not to board...won't NIS categorically state it? So who now eventually issued the visa for them to go when the embassy is not yet open. Any govt can stop anyone from travelling....I am.not disputing that. However, saying they were scammed or it wasn't genuine is what we are talking about here. NB....if you must know, they have left but they were told to keep it secret so that the media noise can just disappear naturally. I can only believe that when i hear it from govt official either from Nigerian govt, immigration or from the UK side. Now to your comments, the president of Nigerian resident doctors said they are trying to sort out the issue from Nigerian immigration as of yesterday and you are telling me that they have left already and was asked to keep it secret? 1. There is no evidence as you claimed that Nigerian govt was not happy that those doctors were leaving( this is your opinion but not fact) 2. There is no evidence that those doctors were issued genuine paper to travel to the UK as confirmed by the Nigerian immigration service. And those doctors claimed to be traveling for training which Nigerian health ministry could not confirm when contacted. Listen, many many Nigerian doctors have traveled to the UK to work and the process is simple, i have never come across this amount of confused and level of misinformation before. Listen to C.G of Nigerian immigration service because he is making a lot of sense. |

Aussie2doc: Now that the doctors have left, what do you have to say? Always listen to people that knows more than you about a particular situation. I've noticed you always believe you are correct on this forum. Doctors on this forum were telling you it was real, you kept saying it was not possible. It was an insult on the entire medical community for you to assume 58 doctors were scammed with a UK visa. You think UK visa is that difficult for doctors? Even if it is difficult, you think doctors don't know they will need visa before travelling or you are the only one that knows only UKBA can give the letter? Be humble guy. Being a moderator doesn't mean you know more than every other person. I stand by every single thing i said regarding this issue, those doctors did not leave for the UK with visa waiver as there is nothing like that and non was created just because they doctors. If those doctors have left then they did that with appropriate visa. When did they leave? |

Tinyemeka: Hi Justwise.
I'm going out on a limb and asking you this openly as I feel you might be in a much better situation to handle my enquiry please.
My wife is a nurse and is planning on migrating to the UK on a T2 visa so I guess that gives me roughly a 5-year stay if I'm to accompany her as a spouse right?
I plan on pursuing an M.Sc Finance/Data Science if I should move there too but my dilemma emanates from this seemingly general view that securing a good job after graduation is very difficult and rare. How true? Is it because of the short-tenured PGW permit? Are the racist undertones that big a deal?
I've trawled LinkedIn for Nigerian UK graduates holding finance jobs there, but my search has proved quite disappointing. Majority of them are back in Nigeria. Why is this so?
What advantage would the UK hold over say Ireland or Canada, in terms of securing a good finance job?
Thanks in anticipation of your response. 1. Yes 5yrs but after the first 3yrs you need to extend it in the UK. 2. Don't always believe some negative stories you read online, this link will guild you regarding appropriate course to study. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-k-shortage-occupation-list employers are looking for people who studied any of those fields in that list, if your course in listed then your chances of landing a job is higher, however..you need to come out with good grade and start applying before you even graduate. 3. its not true that Nigerians rarely get a job after graduation but its very true that you will be frustrated and return to Nigeria if you studied a course that is not in demand, graduate with bad result and expect to be given a job because you paid a lot of money to study in the UK. 4. Yes racism is alive in the UK because its a white man country, the same way we have tribal issues in Nigeria, Igbos/Huasas /Yorubas hating each other. But even at that many still get a job both from Nigeria and the UK 5. Ireland is a younger brother to the UK, Canada and the UK are almost at the same level in terms on student route, but i think its quicker to get a PR in Canada but harder to get an admission and visa |

Momoreoluwa90: Good evening all,
This is for sir justwise and anyone else who may have an answer as I cant find any info related to my brother's case.
He has a PhD scholarship at the University of Edinburgh that covers his tuition but no maintenance fees. He will be applying for his tier 4 visa in Berlin because that's where he is currently based, studies will be taking him out of Germany.
Is it possible for me to deposit around 5,000 pounds in his account for the 28 or more days? If he were to be asked at his interview, can he say his older sister gave him the money? He currently works too but his own savings wont be enough for the bank statement. I also intend to continue to support him with his living expenses while he's in the UK. Our parents are retired and yea, they cant be his sponsors. What will you advice?
Thank you in advance!
cc: justwise Sure you can do that, source of money is not a common question during the interview but if asked he should know that a brother can not sponsor him. Are you transferring this money to his account in Germany? |
