pinnu: I work for an educational organisation. Been teaching for over 5yrs. Earned 100k after tax. Though the major sponsor of the trip is the company and my family friend in UK who is a citizen. I have a side business as well but not registered with CAC This is a case of you giving British embassy free money willingly, how can you be sponsored by your employer to the UK to visit a friend? No company does that. |

omoh21: Hello Everyone.
I'm in the process of filling out a visit visa for my mom to come to the UK for 4 months as I am having a baby in December. My husband and I are both PhD students and I will be fully sponsoring her visit. My mum has not traveled outside Nigeria in over 10 years, so she has a virgin passport. Could anyone please assist with answers to the following questions?
1. Do I mention in the invitation letter that I am expecting a child or do I say she's just visiting us? I ask this because as a student, I cannot take official maternity leave and they may think she is coming solely for child care purposes.
2. For the budget for the trip, I have estimated about £1200 (Return flights - £600, transport around the city - £200, shopping - £300, miscellaneous - £100). Is this amount feasible for 4 months? I didn't include accommodation and feeding as she will be staying with us.
3. My mum can show savings of about 500k. She is in fulltime employment earning N260K after tax. She has treasury bill certificates that are yet to mature though. Will they have an issue with her savings (500k) in comparison to the estimated budget for her trip? Regardless of the fact that she will be fully sponsored.
4. What other documents can she provide as proof of ties to Nigeria?
5. Please see the document list we intend to submit and advise.
Supporting documents (Mum)
1. National passport 2. 6 months Bank statements and pay slips 3. Proof of earnings (Letter from employer/employment letter) 4. Evidence of employment (Leave approval letter) 5. Evidence of savings 6. Breakdown of expected expenses (e.g. flights, transport, shopping, miscellaneous) 7. Detailed cover letter 8. Proof of ties to Nigeria (e.g. pension account, marriage certificate, landed properties) 9. Consent letter from husband
Supporting documents (Me) 1. Photocopy of current passport and visa 2. Letter of invitation 3. Six months bank statements and pay slips 4. Scholarship letter 5. Statement of student status 6. Utility bills and tenancy agreement (proof of address) 7. Birth certificate (proving relationship) 8. Proof of pregnancy 9. Marriage certificate
I'd really appreciate detailed responses. Thank you so much. If your mum is in full time employment how do you expect the embassy to issue her a visa to spend 4months in the U.K.? What happens to her job? 1. State truthfully what your mum is coming to do and give reasons why you need her in your letter of invitation. 2. That budget is not needed, present your bank statement and source of the money in that account. 3. Your mum should present her bank account, payslips, (6 months of each) evidence of employment, and her TB certificate/account. Those lists are ok |

We are not related, neither do we have any relationship thing. Just friends and she's way older than I am. And wants to help me, though she's not too strong financially. Please don't waste the little money you have on 'this and look for something meaningful to do with it. |

pinnu: GOod day all. I picked up my passport today and my Visa was denied after 3months of holding to my passport. The ECO said he isnt convinced I will come back to Nigeria. Pls @justwise and others. I want to reapply next month this time I ll include my personal bank statement. Pls what other documents shud I include thus increasing my chances of getting What sort of company do you work for and what is your level in that company? |

Jarus: That's interesting. I don't put any bank statement - even personal - for visa application for official travels to the UK.
Just a letter from my company that they will sponsor the trip. I'm guessing that your company is a multi national one and you are in a good position. Your company will never need to attach their bank statement to accompany your visa application because their status speaks clearly. Not all companies has that recognition. |

vinon: Hello, How can a private company sponsor it's staff for a holiday to the UK for two weeks....what documents does the staff need to submit, and what documents does the company need as well I never heard of a company whether private or public sponsoring a staff leisure holiday . You need work very hard to convince the ECO that this is possible. Regarding documents.. this is like you sponsoring yourself the only difference here is that you need a letter from your company explaining why they are sponsoring you and your employment details |

DrTony1: Thank you very much for this reply @legend. Im sorry for your refusal. It must be quite difficult for you
I spotted the mistake of ticking NO to the question: Have you ever been refused a Visa to the UK, on yesterday being 3 days after biometrics, after numerous consultations I decided to withhdraw the application. I signed a withdrawal proforma at TLS. And the said the process will be completed in 48 hrs
Another question I have now is will I still have a problem after the withdrawal process which might be on the 5th working day after biometrics (I used a standard service).
@Justwise please kindly help me out as I cant afford to be banned. Whats the next step I can take too.
Thank in advance house. Bless you all. The decision to withdraw your application is a good one because you are looking at possible 10yrs ban. Complete your next application form truthfully and carefully and withdrawing it will not cause any problem. |

Innopre983: Thank you Justwise. Please those you said they gave same reasons/excuses did the ECO considered their excuses or were they banned. I will also explain in the space provided as you said. Also can my brother explain in the letter of invitation addressed to the ECO that we have lost contact for like 12 years now as I am going to state in the space provided. Thanks You will not be banned because you volunteered the answer before the ECO sees it but because that sort of excuse is far too common you may/may not be refused based on that alone. Yes your brother can do that. |

TroublemakerPro: Good day guys, please i have a question .
My parents are living in London And they are citizens together with my sisters, I applied for visa yearsback but I was denied because my parents were not citizens then, Now I applied this year and submitted the required documents early August, my dad told me that he received a call from the UK embassy to pay for my hospital bill In London, but he is still not certain that my visa will be approved.
My question is,
1. where will my visa be approved (or denied) is it in the embassy in UK or the one in Nigeria.
2.will I still be called for interview , since my dad got a call from the embassy in UK to pay my hospital bills.
3. What are my chances of getting a visa.
Thanks , and sorry for the long write up. Question 1&3 doesn’t matter at all because nobody here has an accurate answer to it. Yes it’s possible to call you for an interview. Since this is settlement visa it will depend on documents you submitted |

Innopre983: Good morning great people in this forum. My name is Precious and i am new here. Please read my write up and i need your advice. I studied in the UK and came back to Nigeria in 2016. I applied for a work visa to the UK in January 2018 but it was refused based on the fact that the ECO said I didn't tell them all my duties when I was interviewed on the telephone. During the telephone interview i was asked if i have any family in the UK and i mentioned one of my step-brothers whom i know lives in the UK. But in June 2018, i met one of my step-brothers we have lost contact over 12 years now at a shopping mall in Lagos and he told me he is now based in the UK with his family and have become British citizens. He said He has been in the UK for almost 10 years now. He told me he would love to invite/host me in the UK whenever I am on leave. My question is this : When I was interviewed on the telephone During the work visa application and was asked if i have any family in the UK I didn't mention his name but only mentioned one of my step-brothers I know is in the UK. Now my step-brother I didn't mention want to invite me now, won't the home office count it as not disclosing a material fact when I was interviewed for the work visa because I didn't mention his name? Yes because you were asked specifically if you have anyone in the U.K and you did not include his name, the excuse you gave here unfortunately it's very common and the ECO have heard the same excuse too many times thing before, whether yours will be believed is anybody's guess. |

Phenmeson: If your visa is rejected, you can appeal. If your Dad is a citizen, submitting all is documents (bills & payslips) may increase your chances of getting the visa approved. N. B If he is not claiming benefits from the govt because the govt does not like granting visa's to applicant who will be a burden to them or to tax payer This is misleading information for non immigration visa application |

This is true, Naric are for certificates issued outside the UK |

carnal: first reason was incomplete documentation - i misplaced the consent letter during my ups and down at TLS second reason - apply as same category or be in UK at same time or show evidence of sole custody/responsibility. My other concern is that he(the father) contributed some huge amount into my account and the name appears ??though he already has a visa. but iget your advise clearly now, take him out of the picture completely, right
Have arranged for a carer via my project supervisor, what other care do you advise i arrange No you can't and that was not my point, the daddy has every right to play a part in the child's life and you are still a single mother, the point here is that he will not be traveling with you but he has given his consent for the child to travel with you. |
