slicebeat: I have been a silent reader on this forum. Kindly advice me on my present situation p I was married in my home country nigeria, but haven't seen or heard from my wife for years since I arrived the US on a tourist visa 5 years ago. I'm not even sure how to reach her. We never bothered to do the divorce papers. I came to the U.S. and married a U.S. citizen, and we submitted the adjustment of status paperwork for me. But at the interview, the officer sent us away with a letter saying I needed to provide proof that my first marriage ended in divorce, and he also mentioned something about "marriage fraud." But I love my U.S. wife; this isn't a fraud, I just figured my old marriage was over. What's going on?pls what can I do ? Of course it's fraud. Suddenly you lost contact with your wife in Nigeria and now madly in love with your only hope to residency in America. Bro lets cut the BS, this is sham marriage and the judge knew that hence the marriage fraud comment. As it stands you are still married to your wife in Nigeria and living in borrowed time in U.S. You can't manufacture divorce paper now because it never existed. |

youreign: H everyone. I came across this forum today after submitting my uk application two days ago and am impressed by the way questions are been answered on this forum. I, my sister, her husband and my brother submitted our application together. We applied for a tourist visa (accompanying my sister to uk for her graduation.) we submitted all the necessary document plus a written letter from the school inviting us for the graduation ceremony. My sister (graduant), her husband & my self have a virgin passport, while my brother (sponsoring me) have been to Germany, & Israel. I submitted my bank statement (I operate a small unregistered biz with a Active account (total credit of about of 2.4million from Dec to June) & total balance of 375k before print out. Also attached Are all the necessary document to support money flow in my account. I have a balance of 375,000 in my Account supported wit my brother's 2.7m statement. My sister and husband are medical doctors and paying for individual cost. We intend to spend 5days in the uk, my brother will be paying for my total cost of 400k (accommodation, flight, & feeding) The question is we were all interviewed via a webcam. I was not able to give the name of the hotel we booked cos my brother did the booking. We also said we are going for graduation & didn't give any other reason except graduation. I just read in this forum that one need to mention other tourist attraction to visit. Would this affect our application and the fact that 3 of us plus the graduant have a virgin passport? Please I need your honest reply. Thank you! Not really, you are going for graduation ceremony and not holiday |

crazydove: I was just wondering why he's after low ranked schools in the uk.I guess he was checking for their fees I'm sorry but he is clueless. There are so many reasons why people end up in those universities he tagged lowly ranked and waste of money. Many universities are very good at certain subjects and general ranking does not reflect this but subject ranking does. Some Nigerians and indeed African students on scholarship are studying in those lowly ranked universities because of the agreement between the scholarship awarding body and the school. Self sponsoring student on study leave may not consider school ranking but just want to gained more knowledge in their field and return to their jobs in Nigeria. Like i said before there are many reasons... |

And china has like 5 schools in the top 100. check againThe question should be: How many Chinese or Japanese students have you met at highly ranked universities? There are many many Chinese and other Asian students in the UK universities whether lowly or highly ranked. |

tensazangetsu : lol I was in Nigeria before moving over there, was doing mechanical engineering in unilag. Left that to do marine engineering. There are just two standard maritime schools recognised by IMO in africa, ghana and egypt. Egypt is too far so I had to settle with ghana, and you believe most nigerians who schools in ghana go there cause of the easy requirements and the standard is poo. Well I can only speak for myself. tensazangetsu: it doesn't really matter in this context and besides my school isn't a conventional university they offer only maritime courses. I had my reasons for going there and besides when I gained admission I was just 16 still young and naive, didn't know much but if I knew then what I know now I probably wouldn't be schooling in ghana. You did that at the age of 16? |

I can provide a link to the top 100 in the world and then you can see how much each cost but that will derail the thread. Will you be doing that through scholarship or your parents will be picking up the bill? |

Petitediva14: Thank you justwise. Let me be clearer... I received a 50% scholarship from the university of Nottingham and then my department in the same school gave me a £4250 bursary so instead of paying £22850 I am just going to pay £7025 for tuition fees. I have a letter for the scholarship with the whole sponsor code and all. I was also sent the bursary letter. According to them, they are also going to include it in my CAS.
I hope I have explained better. So now please answer my previous questions. Thank you. Pretty clear now. So back to your original question. Petitediva14: Good morning everyone, I am sure my questions might be annoying but I need to understand what I am doing. I have a 50% scholarship and a bursary from my uni for my tuition fee. I also have money in my account and would also be submitting my mother's bank account statement. My questions are 1. Am i a tier 4 sponsored student? Because of the scholarship and bursary... 2. There is a section that says do you have money in your name? Yes or no. According to what I read if I have money in my account or have a scholarship the answer should be yes. If the money is in my parent's name it should be no. So which one do I select? With the scholarship, bursary and my own money I have over 3/4 of the required funds. Thank you for taking the time to answer. 1. Yes you are. 2. In that case selection since the money is in your account + the scholarship |

Given the opportunity many Nigerians would want to pick one of the best schools in the world to study in but that is not financially possible considering how much it will cost to do that. You don't jump down on people because they are not studying in one of those highly ranked schools in the world when your own school is not even classified. |

tensazangetsu: Dude just Google it most of the schools you guys are mentioning here are not even ranked among the top 500 globally and you guys pay so much. why not consider other countries. Asia has a lot of highly ranked schools and it seems no one goes there same with other European countries. am sure 90 percent of the people in these schools mentioned are nigerians and other foolish africans. tensazangetsu: Please i didn't insult anyone. I would like for you to show me in my previous post where I did and I will apologise to the person. |

tensazangetsu: Yes highly ranked and cheap but standard of living in those cities where the schools are situated might be high I know of university of tokyo and Hong Kong university of science and technology both are in the top 30 and are cheap. cheaper than the UK but I don't know about the standard of living and tokyo and Hong Kong will research on that some other time. ...and your university in Ghana is ranked what position? |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by justwise(mod): 2:21pm On Jun 26, 2015 |
tensazangetsu: sorry it might be exaggerated but one thing I have noticed about we nigerians is that in a crave to school abroad we don't do proper research I school in ghana and there are so many illegal one block universities there and most of them in this schools are nigerians this guy's pay as much as 500k a session to school in a school not even recognised by the ghanian government. I have followed this thread from the first page and have Googled most of the schools mentioned here and none is highly ranked globally and look at the outrageous fees plus no post work visa. you finish and you come to look for a job like a mad man in Nigeria. there are well highly ranked cheap schools in other countries why can't people research on them. The importance of ranking cannot be overemphasised. That shows how little you know about anything let alone ranking and cost of studying in those schools. Highly ranked and 'cheap' can not be found in one sentence. |

RxRx: Good evening nairalanders. Please I need clarification and guidance from anyone in the house. I want to visit UK by September this year for my brother's convocation and he wants me to come with our mother. He wants to sponsor our mum, but I will be sponsoring myself. What I really want clarification on is how to go about the submission of documents: do I submit all our documents together in one file with my passport and hers included since we want to travel together, or we need to submit separately? He has already stated that he needs to send only one invitation letter explaining the fact that he will sponsor her and provide accomodation and feeding only for me. Meaning I will take care of other expenses. Please I need to know if I am on the right track. Thanks If you make the application at same time you are more likely to get the same submission date. If you get the same submission date yes you can put all the application in one file but you still have to go together for the submission and biometric. One invitation letter is enough as long as it stated all the details and your name, passport number and hers are included. You can always print two copies and file one each in two applications. Remember to use the blank space to explain all these in details. |

Carriacou1985: Hello all,
I'm planning to visit Lagos for the first time for a week.
Could anyone tell me how much naira I would need to be comfortable? ( I will be staying with a friends sister) as in food, travel ect
Also is it safe for a female foreigner to travel around Lagos alone?
I also plan to visit Badagry Slave museum, how can I locate a tour guide? And how can I get there from Lagos?
Thanks I will not advice you to visit Lagos alone as a first timer and non Nigerian. Security wise is not the right decision, yes some places are safe but the moment people noticed that you are a foreigner and alone things will change. Budget wise ...you could spend £1000 or even £5000 within a week it's all down to your need and spending power. I visited Lagos 3 months ago and from my experience I wouldn't advice you to take the trip without a Nigerian that knows Lagos and way of life. The heat alone right from the airport will send you running for return ticket. Please think carefully about it. Good luck though. |

And on a special occasion, which i can try to apply for, i told you the school can not refund ure money this morning as you are asking, The school is an organisation and so demands an application stating reasons for refund which after i apply, it will take at least a week to get your refund because is not there fault but urs. so u have to wait and follow the normal procedure which i will make open to the house too. You are really giving me funny feeling dude. Schools refund fees paid to them if the prospective student changes his or her mind, they will only charge administrative fees and return the remaining to the student. Please don't make this harder than its and start playing some funny games. |
