rastamouse: Bro as I said, let's not make this an issue between me and you because it is bigger than that. On the Boko Haram stuff, I can tell you for a fact that politicians are able to convince some of the guys at the North to carry out those heinous atrocities because the North does not feel respected. Is it a secret that Nigerians in the North are not respected? I don't believe in conspiracy theories and i don't waste my time reading such material. |

rastamouse: That is OK. But whatever be the case, don't see this as an issue between me and you but rather a serious issue that threatens to implode in our faces. This Boko haram stuff and its kind are as a result of people being pitted against each other.
My major disappointment is that people are allowed to insult Igbos, Yorubas and others without a voice being raised. People stereotype the whole of Nigeria or Ghana or SA and nothing is done. Why then will people be banned when it is about religion?
In my honest opinion, I think they are all the same Your comment about BH is far from the truth and i don't think you know much about the issue. You may see tribal comments in other sections but not in travel section. Show me one. |

I thought you guys would have learnt but..... If a topic is current and newsworthy it will make front page. Go and complain to BBC that published the news first. |

Every normal person or normal belieff (irrespective of how good you think it is) should be able to accept fair criticism, but for the fact that no one is allowed to say anything about Islam without seeing negative reaction indeed tells how tolerant the ........ agates: Ok. Or can I instead write a letter and attach to the form stating the error and writing the correct t date instead of cancelling on the form. You don't need to cancel it because you still need to submit it physically, that is an opportunity to speak to staff there and make the correction. Sticky paper works because its an instant reminder to whoever is treating your case. Nothing wrong with writing a letter as well. |

Thicking: Hi All, I placed a call across to the British High Commission Customer service at:
(i would be submitting my application in Abuja) 19 Torrens Close Mississippi Street, Maitama Abuja, Federal Capital Territory Nigeria
Phone: 094622200 Ext 11(Visa section)
The lady that responded was quite calm and heard me out totally.
She said one's application is termed 'complete' only when 'submission is made PHYSICALLY' (even when one pays and submit online). She said one can actually pay and submit online before the 28days requirement is met. She said the requirement is that one's 28days must be complete ONLY 'before one's day of biometrics/interview and NOT the payment for application day (since one can pay online) or the day of submission (since one can submit online).
This definitely calms my mind and i await other forms of confirmation by others.
Thanks everyone for the help. That is the most important thing. |

DonOms: He wouldn't be submitting a statement that has not clocked 28 days. But by the time application fee is paid (some days before submission of account statement), his 28-day count wouldn't be complete yet.
I think the bold statement in the quote from the policy below is where the answer lies:
Recall that "date of application" is the date application fee is paid and not date the statement of account is submitted. The grammar in the quote a little confusing for me though. That rule is not specifically talking about Nigerian applicants alone, some countries have to apply in person and not online, so in that case you have only one chance to submit all the documents. If i'm in this situation i will not bother myself thinking about it, i will concentrate on meeting all requirements and the interview. |

DonOms: Oga Justwise your statement above is correct. But the question Thicking is asking is "What if he has paid for the application and submitted online on a day that actually makes his money still less that 28 days?" That's the thing he must be sure of. Because IF UKBA uses the payment date as his application date, the implication is a refusal due to the fact the money isn't up to 28 days. I get your point but my question is...did he submit bank statement that hasn't clocked 28days? The loophole here is that submissions is done in two phases: online and offline, so until both are completed your visa application will not be processed. Until you visit visa center and submit your signed copy with all your documents and do biometric your application process is not complete. |

Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by justwise(mod): 4:59pm On Jul 09, 2014 |
spikesC: Oga justwise, you don dey bend grammar oo
I am not trying to cause a scare, and hopefully, UKVI will go with your explanation.
But like you've always been doing, following the official guidance and procedures is the sure way to go.
Now, to the part you mentioned.
11. If you are applying from outside of the UK, the date of your application will be taken to be the date that the fee associated with the application is paid. This means the date shown on your payment receipt, which depends on how you paid for your visa application, for example, at a British Diplomatic Post, visa application centre or online.
I believe this paragraph is straight to the point, and that your logic is totally flawed It says the date shown on your payment reciept which depends on how you paid for your visa application.
The for example part talks about the differient ways you can pay for your visa application which is evident with the use of "or" I think you are causing a scare, as long as you submitted a bank statement that has clocked 28days and meet all other requirements your visa will not be refused because you submitted earlier online even when you still have second part of the application to submit offline. |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by justwise(mod): 4:29pm On Jul 09, 2014 |
spikesC: That is not my point, this is:
What do we mean by ‘Date of Application’?
11. If you are applying from outside of the UK, the date of your application will be taken to be the date that the fee associated with the application is paid. This means the date shown on your payment receipt, which depends on how you paid for your visa application, for example, at a British Diplomatic Post, visa application centre or online.
Documents needed to show money available to you
203. You must show that you have held the required money for a consecutive 28 day period (finishing on the date of the closing balance) ending no more than 31 days before your application.
209. The following documents can be used to show money available to you:
i. Personal bank or building society statements covering a consecutive 28 day period ending no more than 31 days before the date of your application. Your personal bank or building society statements must show:
Note: Before the date of application
So, any way forward? You still don't get it, your application is not complete until you submit all the documents and get your biometric done AND bank statement submitted clocked 28days. This is why they gave those 3 options: British Diplomatic Post, visa application centre or online. In this case your application has to do with online and offline submission. |

He was married when he was in Germany, he divorced 9 years ago. We have never talked much about his life in Germany. I only know about his life in the Uk. My husband is a very good man, after the refusal he told me that he doesn't like talking about his marriage life in Germany because his Ex-wife maltreated him. However, I know the colour of is car but asking me about the make of his car, is it necessary for me to know the type of car he is using.
Kindly advise me please. Thank u You have two choices here: Prepare your application very well (because you did not do that in your first application) and reapply OR prepare your documents and statement and appeal the case. Reapplying is quicker and will cost you another application fees but appealing is cheaper but time killing. |

Thicking: Hi All. Wonder why stumbling on this did not happen earlier. Great work by you gurus here.
I am new here and fortunately/not, my question is the last thing being discussed here.
My 28days requirement would be fulfilled on Friday, 18th July (from Friday 20th June). However, i have filled, submitted and paid for the online application. I selected July 23rd as my interview date.
I initially was free to do this because i was told that a 'complete application' is only when 'one shows up for biometrics.
Reading from SpikeC however says otherwise.
I therefore want clarification in the following regards:
1) What is regarded as the 'date of completed application' (UK website-Rules and Conditions, states there is a difference between a 'valid' application and a 'complete' application?
2) What date is considered as the reference point for the '28days'?
3) If i am in error, what are my options to prevent being denied, for albeit this 'flimsy' reason?
I would appreciate you all gurus @Justwise @DonOms @spikesC (though hes already given his opinion) and others to ASSIST a fellow.
Thanks a lot and very expectant. Online submission is just a small part of visa application process, your application will be considered 'complete' when you visit the visa center and submit the signed form with other documents and get your biometric done. Concentrate on meeting all requirements and your interview. |

vickkyy: Hello house, I would like to seek your advise on my situation. I applied for EEA family permit visa to join my husband who is a EEA National but he is a German but he has been in the UK since 2006. We got married in January 2014 but we've been in a relationship since 2012. We submitted all necessary documents from my husband with our marriage certificate and pictures. I was invited for an interview and i was able to answer all necessary question but I did not know my husband car make and I knew that my husband has a partner in Uk before we met but their relationship didn't work out. My application was refuse last week based on the below reasons:
1) You stated that you wish to join your husband who is an EEA national exercising his treaty right in the uk. You state that you met him in Nigeria in February 2012 and began a relationship with him in june of the same year. You failed to provide satisfactory evidence to substantiate this claim. You have provided some evidence of communication with your uk sponsor, however none of these are from 2012 when you claim the relationship started. Also you state that your uk sponsor has been to Nigeria 4 times since the relationship began, again you failed to provide satisfactory evidence to substantiate this claim.
2) You got married in January 2014. I note that your marriage certificate shows the condition of your husband as being divorced. However when asked at the interview, you stated that your husband had never been married and that your marriage was the first ha had ever contracted. However, your Uk sponsor confirmed that he was previously married in Germany. Furthermore, you state that your sponsor was a taxi driver but you lack knowledge of basic things about your husband. I am therefore not statisfied that you are in a genuine subsisting relationship with the sponsor as stated.
3) You also confirmed at interview, that the sponsor was not in anyway financially responsible for you. You stated that this was because you had your own job and earned a good salary. You stated that he had sent some money on occasions, but you failed to provide any documentary evidence of this.
I therefore refuse your EEA family permit application because I am not satisfied that you meet all of the requirements of regulation 7 of the immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006.
However, We are planning to appeal and My husband has printed all the history of yahoo msgs for august 2012 and facebook msgs. He has also printed his visa page for February 2013, January 2014 and april 2014. Also, I have scanned my payslip for the past 6 months with employment and promotion letter with my official I.D card but he will be the one to answer Divorced and type of car he is using.
I don't know what to do. I love my husband with all my heart and he loves me too but am afraid becos of the distance. I want to be with my husband please assist me as I am really worried. Thanking you in advance, May God bless you and your team abundantly! Before you plan to appeal or reapply....you need to address that section in bold, both of you gave different answers to the same question about marriage, you said he never married before while he was married to a German before meeting you. That will give the impression that you know little about each other. |
