agates: Hi @ justwise. Is it compulsory I write my employment history in my form because I have submitted my application online and I didn't. I graduated in 2007 and I have been working since then. I didn't put any employment history because it was listed as a requirement. Is it a problem?

No its not.

Castalia: Justwise, Vicjustice, et al

Please what is the correct answer to this question in the VAF (for those who have been issued a UK visa in the past)
Issuiing Authority: What authority issued your visa i.e. British Embassy, High Commission, Consulate?

Do we write:
British High Commission
OR
ABUJA (or Lagos as the case may be)

Because in the visa, there is a place written: Issued in: Abuja

Please clarify
British High Commission

hasan123: Hello there,
I've applied for my UK Student Visa & I Submitted my documents and biometric fingerprints etc as well.
The thing is that my friend told me that you have to show 3 bank statements which proves that you have available funds for future studies but I couldn't find any information telling this that How many bank letters & statements you have to submit in documents. So I submitted two bank statements and Bank letters.
Can any one help me with this? Can any one tell me that I've showed 2 statements and letters will cause my visa to be rejected?
Regards,
Hasan. I've applied from Pakistan for Tier 4 General Student visa

Ok, but he got no choice other than to visit Nigerian embassy to explain himself, though its going to be a tough one. They would want to know why he used another ID to enter the UK and decided to change to another ID.

kissofdragon: Hello Justwise and great people out there, I have a question about the entertainment visa. My cousin plays for a popular musician and they are billed to perform in Nothing-hill gate carnival next month and they have applied for their permit which has been approved by the UK home office. I will like to know if it by chance they still deny that type of visa given that they have paid for the permit and they are about to apply for the entry visa. Thanks yall
Getting a permit gives them an edge but they still have to meet other requirements..e.g...proof of accommodation, maintenance money for their stay in London..etc

dotcomnamename: Asking on behalf of a friend.

A friend of mine just got his residency on his real name and his real date of birth.

He left Nigeria in 2008 with a different date of birth and different name on the E-passport but he did not use the datails apply for residency, but he used his real date of birth and real names, and he now got his residency in 2014.

Now, he's having a problem how he will obtain a new E-passport on his real name and his real date of birth because the immigration told him to go and get a passport to have his residency stamped on it as he only have the written residency for now.

He is scared of going to Nigeria embassy to explain to them.. Please those who has been in this type of situation before, what is the best solution to this? Will the Immigration withdraw their residency back from him since he can't provide passport or what? How can he get a new passport?

Thank you
How did he get residency without submitting his passport during the application?

sophiapat: The camp is three weeks and i hope to travel after camp for two weeks and return to resume my PPA, as for d fact dat i have not met d guy, is it gonna be a problem for d embassy cos d last time i checked, pple do meet on social media, just dat we didnt meet dat way we were introduced to each other by a friend.
You will struggle to convince the ECO that you are coming back for PPA just after camping. Yes people do meet online and end up meeting each other physically but that goes both ways, he can come to Nigeria to visit you as well.

You can give it a go, i'm not trying to discourage you rather i'm telling you what you don't want to hear.

All the best with your application though.

sophiapat: This justwisw guy can just dash someones hope, i wanna apply before i go for camp na, dats why i am using the call up letter, do u know how much landed property i have dat u are saying its not a strong tie? Is it not written on their site dat landed property is also useful for visa application? Ok wat do u suggest i do? I shud sit down and wait till after nysc den wait to get a job. What are u suggesting i do?
I'm not trying to dash your hope, i don't like telling people what they want to hear, i tell you the raw truth the way i see it.

You want to apply now and travel after camp? How long is orientation camp?
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(mod): 11:01pm On Jul 13, 2014
sophiapat: What about the nysc call up letter? Is it not enough to show i will be back? Cos i intend travelling after orientation camp. So somebody must have a job to show before he or she can travel for a short holiday?Chineke. But i thot landed property also helps to show u have strong ties to d country? Also, cant i print call logs to show i and d guy in question has been communicating? So until i have a job before i can travel? Dis is not fair of the embassy oo
Let me ask you this....of what use is call-up letter after orientation camp? Your land wouldn't persuade you to come back to Nigeria.

Call history will play a bigger part if you have a strong tie to Nigeria...married with kid(s), have a good/business job and sponsoring this trip.

At the moment you are a potential immigrant

sophiapat: Hi guys, please i need your help, i am 27 years and i have been speaking to a male friend of mine for a year now in the uk on phone and skype, we got to know thru a friend of ours in the Uk too,he is a citizen and he has a job too, he has sent me an invitation letter with his bank statements , payslips and tenancy agreement to show he can take care of me when i arrive, den over here, my mum will be my sponsor, i also have a landed property and i will be going for youth service next month, my question is can i use my call up letter and the land document to proof i will be back cos i intend to travel after orientation camp for just two weeks? And also wat can i show as proof of relationship between i and the guy? And thirdly wuld i be interviewed? And lastly, do i still show my own statement of account? Please i want to apply soon, i need to know my chances. Thanks

Honestly your position is a difficult one, you never met him, you are not working at the moment hence can't sponsor the trip. It will be difficult for you to convince the ECO that you will be coming back to Nigeria if given a visa. Landed property and your mum's money is not a strong tie to Nigeria. Those two will not persuade you to come back to Nigeria if given a visa.

That is the decision you have to make, but if you must apply though be sure of all your documents and be absolutely honest with your previous immigration history.

signature2012: Good justwise, vicjustice and all,a cousin of mine wants to apply for UK tourist visa.He has been working with a printing firm for over 3 years with a salary of 75k monthly,he his married with a kid.some months back,he was given 3m as part of his share from the properties of his late dad that was sold, the money was paid into his savings account in which he has been buidling up the account for the next 6momths to enable him apply for the visa,he has his salary account with same bank but the closing balance is just 150k.He has got marriage cert, pix of his wedding, his kids n when they did baby christening, letter of employment, confirmation letter,he will also get his leave letter from the firm he his working for,he just want to spend a week in UK and come back as a tourist,he has family property documents with him,his car documents,@least somethings that will make the VO see him that he has ties in nigeria. Can or should he use is personal savings account in which he paid in the 3m and has been runing it for 6months in which will make him av a closing balance of 2.1m or he should also attacth his salary statemen account for 6months and pay slips,if you are in his shoe, kindly advice him on how he can convince the VO on his personal savins account and how he can get the visa.plz all experience persons advice are needed!
His salary is low and as married man with kid and car is a lot of responsibilities, yes he has 3m inherited from his late father's property but getting a visa is going to be 50/50. He needs to present all the documents..salary account, savings account, documents related to the 3m share from the property, his family pictures, leave letter, employment letter ..etc.

His UK travel budget...flight, accommodation, feeding, transport within the UK and list of things he intend to do in the UK. This budget has to be attached to him application package...

harlyon: When someone is a denied a visa with the reason that the document lacks credibility.what does it mean..meanwhile d documents I submitted was that of my host in SA.
harlyon: . I askd him and he said he did a little twist on the bank statement but what I can't understand is that myself and his elder brother used the same documents bt he was given the visa...bt the little paper that came with my passport when I went to collect it says DOCUMENT LACKS CREDIBILITY..ARRANGE IT AND APPLY AGAIN. I don't intend aapplyin in lagos again bt abuja..what do I do? Should I apply again or I should forget abt it
That 'little twist' is the red-flag in your application, tampering with official document like bank statement is a bad idea and could lead to visa ban.

dammylizzy: Hello justwise, vicjustice and all, I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not but my question is on Spouse Settlement Visa.

I have submitted an application for spouse settlement visa since the 2nd week of April but still haven't heard anything. Although, I emailed them on few occasions and I was told my application is awaiting the assessment. Please, is this normal and how long do you think I may have to wait for?

Thank you for your responses.
The delay is caused by the spouse visa court case, the ruling is out now so from the 28th of this month HomeOffice will start sending out decision on those applications.

My question: Must i tell the BHC in my application about my present study in The Netherlands which i'm already planning to abandon? My resident Permit (for student) is not on my passport what i have is only the Visiting 3 months VIsa used to come into the Netherlands before getting the resident permit but my passport carries various immigration stamps mostly from Lagos Airport with many dates even after the Visiting Visa expired last year since every Eu international students just needs to show their resident permit with their passports at all port of entry. Castalia: Please a little advice (justwise et al...
I have filled the online visa application, though yet to submit.
However, I intend to visit Ghana for my sister's graduation on the 26th of this month, and return on the 28th. I don't want to submit because I don't want my passport to be in the UK embassy's possession, thus preventing me from attending the graduation ceremony.
My planned trip to the UK is for August ending, so I plan on going to the VAC immediately I return on the 28th to submit my documents. Also, I'm not sure I would have the luxury of time to travel to Lagos (or Abuja) for submission soon after this.

Now this is my issue:
I did not fill this journey to Ghana in the application (obviously, since I haven't yet made the trip). But, I want to submit the online form and make the payment and book an appointment and all other necessary stuff before the journey to Ghana, so that on my arrival on the 28th, so that I can just submit that day and return to base.

Will it amount to telling a lie if I don't include it in the application as part of my journeys, and the ECO sees the stamps on my passport? Note that I would have probably submitted the online application a week or so before I make this trip.

Please advice
If that is the case then i don't see any problem there.

Education is not a strong enough home tie especially in Nigeria where strike can last for ages with poor investment in that sector, many student will not think twice leaving that behind for a better choice.

Education may be a home tie for EU or American students but not the case with Nigeria only if you are attending one of those expensive private schools.

US is not in the list of countries that need TB, you can't live in US and present TB result from Nig. You don't need to present TB certificate. You need to inform your school about that. If they insist then you visit a hospital there in US and get one done.
