I have never told you that paying tax is wrong. What are you talking about? I said that the jobs do not pay enough, and as such, after taxes are taken, not much will be left in the pocket. The statement there is to let him know that there are not much high salary jobs in the UK.
I do not have anything against tax. I only have something against pay, which I am not the only one talking about it in the UK. Majority of UK residents are not happy with their salary and the UK minimum wage is poor.
Yes everyone complain about minimum wage and want a pay raise but look closely at countries that pay high wages and see the cost of living in that country. My point is..the tax we pay are used to pay for stuff we use or that keep the country working.

Have a look at tax-free Nigeria and tell me how good things are.

Oh for sure there isn't a doctrine that empowers your child to call d police on you in Nigeria.
Neither is there any that forces the society to accept totally d arrant nonsense of lgbt.
She has less dating opportunities in d UK.
Her purchasing power will be far lower in the UK even though she will earn more.
She will be far more stressed in d UK with less time for herself.
The educational system can shove down any rubbish they like on her children without she having any say.
My comment here is not for pro/against moving to the UK, but i do think that some folks here post out of ignorant and fear mongering .

To your post...kids here are not empowered to call the police on their parents as you put it, this is one of those fear mongering people pure out to support their argument.

Your issues with LGBT is just lack of tolerance for other people's sexual preferences/practises which many straight or heterosexual individuals engaged in. There are a lot of LGBT communities in Nigeria hidden from the public but very active online.

Please explain to me how her purchasing power will be lower in the UK compared to Nigeria or other countries?

If she will be more stressed in the UK then she will be living in hell in Nigeria because Nigeria is the actual definition of stress.

I think when it comes to educational system Nigeria has the worse share of it, if you don't have money to send your kids to expensive private school in Nigeria then your kids are taught by bunch of uneducated, lower paid and demoralised teachers.

UK is tough. There are not much good paying jobs here and their taxes will leave nothing in your pocket at the end of the month
I will advise you to come to UK if that's the only option for now, because it is still better than Nigeria when it comes to salary jobs. It also takes longer to settle here, you probably will need a company to sponsor your visa for 5years before you settle and most common company that sponsors are in health and social care, so you will most likely be a carer for 5years before you can settle.
Do you think that the UK has higher tax rate compared to other developed and underdeveloped countries?

I live in America, let me tell you, American retailers would rather die than sell 'About to expire' groceries at a discount. 'About to Expire' items are discarded in large numbers instead of being sold at a discount. I follow an account on instagram that documents food and retail waste at American stores. It is a sad story. And yet, a good number of Americans are starving.

It gives me joy to know that the Brits sell at a discount. It reduces waste and helps feed the poor - Two things American capitalism don't care about.

British supermarkets also waste food, if the discounted food is not sold it ends up in the waste bin but homeless people go there every single night for bin-diving.

You can save 1000 Pounds per month.

If your wife works for 20 hours per week as a student, that makes it 90 hours per month because there are four and a half weeks in a month. If the pay is 10 pounds per hour, that means that 90 hours will fetch her 900 Pounds.

You as a dependant can work up to 55 hours per week, Let even say you work only 40 hours per week., that makes is 180 hours per month. If the pay is 10 pounds per hour, that means that 90 hours will fetch her 1800 Pounds.

House rent = 1,000 Pounds (2 or 3 bedroom depending on so many factors)
Electricity = 200 Pounds (them is is high, but let use it)
Feeding = 200 Pounds
Transport = 100 Pounds

TOTAL monthly expenses = 1,500 Pounds
TOTAL Wage by husband and wife = 2,700 Pounds

I have evidences, but not for the public.

If there is anyone here who thinks my quote up there is fake, let the person come and say with his/her own analysis.

Don't let your village people hold you down, let's go and make money there, then come back and take over this government. You cannot wrestle power from Emilokan Tinubu or Atikulation Abubakar without lots of billions
You don't live in the UK, if at all you do then you either living with someone and doing under-table job.

Nobody that lives here work and pay bills will come up with such calculation.

You don't have to, Africans and Asians don't do that in a hurry, they keep the house as a family house or sell and move back home.

If you join an osusu group of 20 people, @ £500 per month.........

Let's assume you pack last, you would be collecting £10K .......

£10K parked....... Repeat process, another £10K parked in 40 month's (not touching your collection).....

In 60 month's, £30K parked....... Source extra funds for conveyancing, survey etc etc ........

And if it's a couple combining resources...... EVEN EASIER......

NEVER SAY NEVER.......😂🤣😜🔒🔐

NO PAIN ..... NO GAIN.....
I'm not sure that this is the solution actually, you need to earn well to be able to drop off £500, pay rent, bills, feeding and other necessities monthly for 60months.

This is a risky way of saving because to get 20 trusted people to stick together for 60months is not a walk in the park, one or two people can collect their turn and do a runner before it gets to your turn.

Rent money is dead money for those wey get money for deposit and the residence status to buy house.
Given current prices and all the wahala, that excludes many people, even those wey be native Brits.

For many people wey just move here carrying their 3 pikins at the age of 45, buying a house fit no work for them yet because before you stabilise it might take a while and saving a deposit of 25% no be easy thing depending on how much you earn and where you dey plan buy house.

Quite a lot of these landlords bought these houses as ex-council houses in the 80s. Interest rates were indeed very high then, up to 15%, but the houses themselves were very cheap, such that almost everyone could afford to buy a house on one salary, with the man working and the woman raising the children, like it used to be in Naija. Now these days, even with most families having two incomes, house prices are so high that to see deposit na war.

Like everything else in life, everybody path go dey different. The amount of squeezing oneself and tightening belt beyond all the holes wey malam fit put inside the leather is a whole lot unless you dey somewhere were prices are low-ish, but those places are usually not where the jobs are. If you wan buy house for Jigawa, price cheap, but work no dey there. If you wan buy house for Lagos, price no be here, but na there work dey and you fit grow your career.

Buying houses outside areas commutable to such places also ties you down. If you buy house for Jigawa, live there for 1 years, come see better work for Abuja, how you wan go take am? You can only rent out a house on a residential mortgage for a limited period.

Demonising landlords is not helpful. Landlords too na human beings, no be all of them dey exploit. Some are paying interest only mortgages (which is why that money might be low), some too worked their arses off to save deposits and buy houses, so all na their own profit too. I own property in Nigeria. I buy the land for cash after saving from my pay, and took a loan from my bank to add to the money to build the house, which I built over time as salary worker wey I be. With all the yawa wey dey Naija, some of my tenants asked for consideration, come dey pay me rent in instalments sotay I fit see rent in 6 or 7 pieces. I evicted no one, still dey service my loan dey go. Some landlords are lousy, some are not.

And looking at the money spent on housing as a loss no be the best way to look at things. Person get to spend money on services, so you go spend money on transport, that one na money for Lothian Buses or ScotRail pocket, and e don go. You spend money on food, you go shit am out, and e don go too. As a new immigrant without a 25% deposit or Tier 2 visa and a willing lender, you go spend money on housing and that one too na service and that one too go go as well. It is what it is. Overthinking all that one no worth am.

If you get ability to save for a deposit and can afford a house, with all the stress testing of income and everything, go for it. If you cant, your rent money is definitely not dead money, it is paying for your shelter, which is one of the neccessities of life, like food, transport, healthcare, all intangible services wey no dey leave you with a physical asset after delivery.
That is a very valid point and a lot of Nigerians/Africans coming into the UK recently fall into that category.

Your analysis of the situation is very realistic and i think we sometimes overblow this rent money is dead money thing.

Its not going to be easy from the moment the kids joins you and your wife, one of you has to work part time while the other look after those kids.

You need at least two bedroom house/flat for family of 4. Unless one of you have a good job that pays at least £3000 you will struggle to save.

Nigeria is where the money is. Open any business in Nigeria, the population size and sheer need guarantees mega success within a year. Everything is cheaper in Nigeria too, the freedom to live life on your own terms is without bounds. I put it down to FEAR, that's what drives full grown men to leave their country to become servants in another man's land.

All those quoting me saying it's a lie.
Of course, care and support is unskilled work.

I will use an example, a single guy living outside of London. Assuming you work in the same city where you work. These figures are as close to actual as possible. If you live in UK and and I'm wrong, bring us actual figures!

Let's say you earn £1,800 monthly:
Tax + NI - £400
Rent (studio flat + bills) - £600
One month bus ticket - £55
Food and groceries - £100
Car finance, e.g. Audi A1 - £227 (down payment is around £2k plus)
Total monthly expenses - £1,382
You still have £418 for other expenses and savings. But anything else you spend on will be wants not needs.

Council tax £80 if it's not included in your rent.
The UK guys don't want us to come and flood the place for them.
1. What council tax band is £80 a month?

2. Get me a quote of Audi A1 finance with £227 repayment and 2k deposit.

3 How much is road tax, car insurance and MOT on that car?

4. What is the cost of fuelling that car?

Nigeria has made all of us to not know how good life can be!
UK system is not designed for savings, but you will afford everything to live normal life. And if you get residency or citizenship, govt will pay you when you're unemployed or have disability (more than 50% of minimum wage). They take very good care of their people. This is why their immigration process is so tedious.
Starting afresh is very tough (mental strength is important), but once you're balanced no one regrets relocating to UK!
Again this is not true.

Seems you don't know how deep the gay issue is over here in naija. The difference is that it is socially acceptable in the UK so folks don't have to hide it.
Just go online and see Nigerians that are gay. Heck go to videos and see naija gays and bisexuals acting porn.
Point is yes, you are right in the sense that in the UK, due to the social acceptance of gays, ones child will be open to tell you hoha. It also encourages those who ordinarily will fight the gay feelings to accept it. Naija is the opposite.

Yes blame that on religion,

So,get it right, in UK, they kidnap too, you just don't know because, you don't have money. Even the footballers over there aren't finding it funny
