hustla: I just tire for Nigerians, negativity full people body
You will enter Tesco and see all Indians working there, they obviously all shared info with each other and carry each other along. Na only Nigerians go different, hoarding everything smh
Anywhereworks, EE, Crossover and some others people have dropped in the past all offer remote jobs. Some of them even ship equipment to you before you start to work with them
I wonder what they're trying to code for as if people who want to apply there won't still be scrutinized or dropped if they don't meet certain criteria
To each his own Sha, I'll not speak further
Are you surprised that they are doing well in the UK and any other country you found there? Mayor of London, the UK Prime minister, Scottish first minster ...i mean the list go on and on. The only thing a Nigerian will be quick to connect you with is how to commit crime. |

Viruses: What is the name of the company you currently work with?
If you don't mind, please list the other companies you have worked with in UK in reverse chronological order.
One more favour, please list the names of the companies you worked with in Nigeria.
Let's not be selfish.
Thanks. You surely can do better than this...i mean if i paste name of companies here how will you know that i worked there or that they know who justwise is? |

Solumtoya: Sure, for the sake of argument, here we go:
The guys also stated that he works at a care home and he's not sure whether to quit for this particular job.
Someone may write to the Company saying "The Nigerian you recruited on a 3-month contract works in a care home like me too, so give me a job". Meanwhile, he may not want his Employer to know that detail. I really don't want to stretch how far people can go
My point is: This is an anonymous public forum, people should respect the limit to which people feel comfortable sharing personal data. And no one should be called selfish or talked down on for exercising his right. How many Nigerians do you think the company recruited? Why do we think so negative like this? Its a bloody company's name, no one is asking for his full name and address. |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by justwise(mod): 10:12pm On May 03, 2023 |
Solumtoya: The way some people talk is very funny. He should share the name of his Employer so people start writing mails to them saying "A Nigerian you just recruited informed me there are openings" or such stuff. Let the guy even start first na. He's answering all other questions but you're calling him out because he's refusing to share personal details of his Employer to complete strangers on a public online forum!
There's nothing selfish about it. The entitlement on this platform is getting a bit much. No one owes you such private information, people share what they're comfortable with and it's very wrong to call them selfish for doing so Lets assume for the sake of argument that someone actually contacted the company saying...Nigerian they recruited gave out their company's name, what is wrong with that? The job was advertised in indeed which is a public job site. I can understand if the job was through connection and was not advertised in public at all. |

kwakudtraveller: There is nothing selfish about not sharing information a person is not comfortable with sharing. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s still his prerogative. He even said it, that he should allow him resume first. No be do or die affair. People have being sharing links and company's name here for ages, that is exactly one of the reasons thread like this exist, He got the job already so sharing the link will not cost him the job, the company will not recruit more than they needed just because he shared their names here. If it was referral link he will be spamming this thread begging people to use it. |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by justwise(mod): 8:17pm On May 03, 2023 |
kwakudtraveller: It’s not any dangerous mindset, no dey guilt trip people into sharing information they don’t want to share. The person mentioned Indeed, that alone is enough. When he resumes the job, he fit share the info or he fit no share, it’s his prerogative. Abeg live and let live. Lets not dance around this, the person in question is just selfish, what will happen if he shares the company's name? hustla is right |

Lexusgs430: I also have a portfolio of penny shares (but I know my limits).........
PS are very risky..... Most times, they simply go burst and your money goes 💥💥.......🤣😂 Yes that is exactly the prob with penny stock, i invested in some, some turns out well while i got hammered in some |

Lexusgs430: That family friend is a gambler and requires rehab......... Who does that....... 🤣😳
Funds you put on the stock market, must be with a long term view....... Even when stocks are under preforming, it's still a floating loss (until you sell a losing position or firm goes belly up)......... As they are funding the stock and share app the bank warned them as frequent transfer set up and a warning alert. Greediness played a part as well especially with penny shares, there is the tendency to put more money so as to make huge return. |

KOVIC19COVID20: Thanks @Justwise. Maybe I didn’t put it well enough. I max out my £4,000 LISA using moneybox and govt has topped up my cool 1k for me on each occasion.
I want to use the sticks & shares as a second (but parallel) way to earn some extra dosh. I don’t mind if the margin is small, but I want to be buying sticks and shares worth £100 each week.
But I really do not know which ones to buy and which to avoid. I totally understand what you are trying to do but I suggest you think long and hard about it. You are safer if you put that amount in any savings account offering 3-4% returns, yes it’s penny but you have peace of mind. Stocks are shares are long time investment, see it as pension contribution. |

KOVIC19COVID20: Stocks & Shares ISA.
Last year, a veteran on this thread shared a link. I downloaded Freetrade app. I have been saving for house deposit using moneybox LISA. Now, I am in position to be saving £100 weekly. I would really like to be buying sticks & shares on the Freetrade app.
My problem is, I don’t know which ones to buy. What constitutes intelligent buying. And which ones to avoid.
Please can people help me? I understand you will always add the ‘No financial advise’ disclaimer. But please. Any pointers? Or sharing of experiences?
Please help.
@Justwise @TheGuyFromHR @Lexusg430 @Ralphlauren @Solumtoya @LagosIsMyHome Honestly if your ultimate goal is to save towards buying a house then stock and share is not the right tool to use considering the risks involved. During the pandemic a family friend was saving to buy a house and they decided to start investing in stock and share while economy reopen. By the end of 2021 they have lost close to £30,000. They have to start afresh again saving |

Solumtoya: You can also try Topship Africa. They came highly recommended, currently trying them out now. The other contact I had shared here said the NAHCO Shipping strike is currently affecting their operations iyatrustee: They do, Solumtoya recommended them and I used them about 3mths ago. See attached pic for their drop off address

IbeOkehie: Which root? The African state of being has been completely uprooted by our mass conversion to foreign religions, ironically religions brought by the very Arabs and Europeans that enslaved us. Don't get me started. I'll leave it at that. Nigeria - the largest of the African Zoos - is lost.
Good Luck to Nigerians! Take way religion Nigeria and Africa at large will be a much better place. I still believe in God. |

deept: This argument or debate has been done in the past and it always ends in a stalemate. Points have been noted, positions have been taken, people have been educated or not. It will just continue to drag on and on.
There was a guy years ago who argued that Nigeria was the best place to invest, that was even when things were better and people came and gave experiences, arguements etc but he stood his ground. I don't think I have seen him here in years hope he is ok. Everybody's experience will be different and people do what's best for them and their situation. I think I remember the guy, he is a professor I think. I doubt he still believes in investing in Nigeria |
