Also go to Nigerian defence budget any year from 2015. Capital expenditure (Projects) - Procurement of A vehicles. Divide outlay by a whole number of vehicles with no at least 10 or multiples of 10
PS : I never said China donated up to 120 MRAPs to Nigeria. They donated some was what I said This means the Ezugwu MRAP APC is within the cost of procuring from China, and cheaper in some cases. OK you said China donated some, which of the some did China donate? |

Jimi24: US 24 is many There are Chinese donations. The major point though is no Chinese, Canadian or SA MRAP we got was up to $500k. The US were buying MRAPs with a lot of development costs charged in during Iraq war. The costs made it into wikipedia and boom the myth of $800k MRAP was born There are Chinese donations? China donated 120 units of MRAPs to Nigeria. That's realm convenient. What is the cost of an MRAP then, please post proof. |

Jimi24: I dont think Nigeria ever paid more than $300,000 for a foreign made MRAP to be honest and many we got for free. How did we get many MRAP APCs for free? Big Foot from China - 120 Reva from South-Africa - 43 Ara from Nigeria - 40 Ezugwu from Nigeria- 38 Streit typhoon from Canada - 177 American donated - 24 How is this number many? Egypt got nearly 1000 MRAP APCs from USA for Free. Some of you people need to research small abeg. |

Odunayaw: You'd have to read up on it yourself to get extensive understanding. But here goes(based on operations), LPDs have a well deck for which when they "dock" offshore, they allow water to flood this well deck so man and machines can be transported out by landing crafts in it. The LPD doesn't beach, its like a stable headquarters offshore
LSTs are smaller (in Tonnage) and carry men and equipment directly to beach Thanks alot. This goes far enough. |

jln115: New ships cost money which unfortunately Nigeria doesn't have a lot of at this stage!! Same as SA! Don't insult Nigeria by categorizing it with SA. What the Nigerian navy has purchased you people in South-Africa are still dreaming about it. |

Russia are still operating the Kirov class which was built in the mid 70s
The US is still operating the Ticonderoga class which was built in 1980
The Royal Navy is still operating the Duke class which was commissioned in the mid 80s
NNS Aradu still has at least 25 years in her with a good refit. Bros we no like Aradu again. We don tire for Aradu, Aradu don tire for Aradu. We want new Ship. |

jln115: What the NN should do is refit NNS Aradu, yes it will cost $250 mil but show me where you can get 8 Anti ship missiles, 24 Sam launchers, 127mm oto merela, 8 40mm bofors and 6 torpedo tubes for that money.
NNS Aradu is a formidable ship, hence its so sad to see her in the state she is. That would not work. Nigeria should look out for Frigates from China or Netherlands. |

SuperSixSeven: I have to confess i instant got a crush on her when is saw her. Once again the NN made a reasonable procurement decision. It's a reasonable procurement. Totally makes sense. If we can add 2 Frigates and 2 Corvettes it would be nice. The AW-139 would operate from her deck. We need to ramp up the number of locally built ships, we need 4 units of 55 meters ships. Ships that can patrol offshore and close to the creeks. Time to make the Ezugwu amphibious. |

SuperSixSeven: Please dont believe everything this DICON guys tell, ya?
Proforce ARA II has Stanag 4A and 4B which marks already the highest class of mine protection but the half baked EZUGWU even exceeds this. Have you watched the video I posted? Did you watch the test? The DG of DICON did not mention it's IED strength in the video. One of the consultants who built the vehicle mentioned it in a different interview. Please Sir, watch the video, read up on materials, educate yourself, don't embarrass yourself in public. |

kabe1: Ezugwu MRAP costs 70 million Naira. A foreign MRAP costs between 500,000 - 1 million dollars.
The EZUGWU can withstand 12kg mine blown underneath, that's more than the Reva MRAP, CS/VP3 and Proforce ARA II can withstand.
