I don't see any difference. . . . Maybe you need to look it up.
Who is to say who will return back to their country and who wouldn't?

It's just sheer hypocrisy for the Brits to be termed as expatriates in foreign lands and foreigners are called immigrants here.
U cannot tell me every foreigner in this country ALL have the intention to live on State benefits and not return back to their roots.

That is what i am aiming at.
Expatriates are not necessarily professionals. If a Soho junkie decides to go and stay in Nigeria, he will be described as an expatriate(by the Brits).
Kenny G is getting the terms correctly, but fundamentally you're right - especially as fewer and fewer of them are returning home; especially the Brits

Lol @ Soho junkie.

Elo Sela, you didn't vote BNP ? How come ? Big surprise, I thought you were the average s"elf-hating black woman who supported BNP", whom would have promptly kicked you out of the party and out of their country when they won. Guess I was wrong - didn't see that coming.  smiley

Back to thread.

Clegg has messed up.
Expats are professionals sent abroad by their companies or those who seek to jobs abroad. Immigrant is a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence either because of war/economic factors. The so called expats usually return after a period of time, immigrants dont always grin grin grin
Okay, now you're getting the terminologies a bit right. FYI most expatriates are no longer returning - at least the British ones, opting for their retirement packages in host countries.
PoliticsRe: UK Election Day: Who Gets the NID Vote? by kadman(m): 1:43pm On May 07, 2010
As someone said if that's your explanation for the difference in expatraites and immigrants, your explanation has FAILED ! Actually more and more UK citizens moving for work are taking their families with them, which was even what my study was about - "Cross Cultural Awareness for British Expatriate  Spouses". Your explanation only highlights the difference in terminology of both.

As ebonyz said any black person who voted Tory is a self-hating deluded prick. It's not just about immigration, it's about supporting a party who would fundamentally squash minorities and the poor to uphold the upper middle class white.
U will need to drop your name and post code then so i can have it customised and special-delivered to you by UPS.

The 'immigration' noise is what i can't stand about these useless Brits.

When a Brit emigrates to another country he wishes to be called an expatriate implying that he is something special.
If he were to be described in the host country as an immigrant, he would probably be quite insulted and file a lawsuit.

On the other hand, an expatriate Nigerian or whatever nationality in this country is described as an 'immigrant' implyiing that he is a creature of lesser value, looking out to scrounge and live on State benefits regardless of his qualifications/certifications.

The hypocrisy is sometimes nauseating.
You know I did not know this before. I'm currently doing a study on expatraites. UK has the highest number of expatraites / immigrants / emigrants or whatever they call themselves THAN ANYWHERE else in the world. There are more British people leaving this country to other countries than any other country in the world. I can't get over the hypocrisy. DON'T PEOPLE KNOW THIS ? Can't people shut Mr Cam up when he say's the UK is full ?
PoliticsRe: UK Election Day: Who Gets the NID Vote? by kadman(m): 1:10pm On May 07, 2010
Men on the edge of my seat, this election is like film show. I'll be disappointed if Clegg sides with Cameron. Him and Brown have the same views on some issues. And also heard he was on the phone with Brown this morning. How true is that ?
I hope Cameron can be squashed back into the hole he came from - can't stand his fat face.

I won't even bother to address any self-hating black person who voted Tories.
PoliticsRe: Top 7 Reasons Why Yarádua Was Declared Dead. by kadman(m): 12:59pm On May 07, 2010
Silly Nigerians with silly sentiments. Respect the dead; doesn't that sound stupid to your ears. Why not create a public holiday for Hitler, Sani Abacha e.t.c because they are dead. A man would be remembered by his deeds when he was alive not because he is dead. And as far as deeds go, Ex President Yardie was as useless as they come .

Poster funny thread, freedom of expression y'all.

Harriet Harman and Peter Mandelson suggest Brown will not budge and will try to hang on to power.

Exit Poll revised:

Con drop two to 355. Labour stay on 255. Lib Dem up to 61.

Tories are bad news for immigrations o
Word. I keep explaining to people already in the country that it's not even only coming immigrants, there's just an air of oppression and inequality for minorities when Tory are in power. So those selfish people who already have their peoples are don't care - think again.
joeycrack:
Hehe, jokes. Who does the house feel has the best immigration policy. Can the Tories 'artificial cap' work? is lib dems regional migration plausible?
Regional Migration has some possibilities if immigrants are taught London is not the same as UK, which has other vast areas and opportunities.

Yippe ! But that was kind of expected. I'm proud of all the North standing for Labour.

3rd time Sunderland is first to declare. The city is a mess but this they get right every time ?

At the moment Lib Dem have the power, the must know they could never win, but they have the power to swing the election to either's favour. And I'm praying they pick Labour

Your questions

- You can travel from when your visa commences. If you've not applied yet, you can tell them you'd like it to commence some months before your course to familiarise yourself with the country

- As a student you can buy 1 way ticket, although I found out one way tickets cost the same or sometimes more than return.

How can he be a SCAMMER, SWINDLER and CRIMINAL if it has been proved he wasn't lying ? But just trying to make a quick buck with the information he had. Isn't it said somewhere information is money. I thought Nigerians were always enterprising. As someone said an apology isn't out of place.AS HE WAS NOT LYING ABOUT THE SCHOOL'S EXISTENCE
LiteratureRe: How Can One Overcome Writer's Block? by kadman(m): 10:23pm On Apr 17, 2010
agboifo:
Which is not particularly a bad thing. Most authors, if not all, are influenced by previous experiences - be they from books or from life. In fact, in the script writing industry, many movies now winning awards are based on epic stories of old times, from Greek mythology or even from the Bible itself.

You need to read many books to be a good and convincing writer. To then make your writing original, add something of your own - experiences, perspective, etc and you're good to go.
Thank you, that's really solid advice.
LiteratureRe: How Can One Overcome Writer's Block? by kadman(m): 4:11pm On Apr 17, 2010
My problem is not writers block, I have great ideas but when I start putting it on paper it starts to follow patterns of other books I've read, Maybe I've read too many books ?
CelebritiesRe: Nigerian Divas And The 'orobo' Syndrome. by kadman(m): 4:06pm On Apr 17, 2010
The fact is most Nigerian ladies based in Nigeria do not take care of themselves, nowadays guys take better girls of themselves than women,  All my years in Nigerian gyms it's men i see not women, look at people jogging on the street it's men not women.
There is no theory about Africans being heavier it's what we eat. . so we have to go the extra mile. We use Palm oil to cook, do you know how many calories are in one table spone 140 ! And to make a soup we use heaps and heaps without even measuring. Now I think about what I used to eat back then I'm scared.

Whoever says eating healthy and staying in shape is Western way of life,no problem I hear you I would rather be a Western wanna be and live long !

I don't know why the gym culture is still far from Nigeria.
If we're going to pay to watch your poor acting on TV, the least you can do is at least look good.

It's this kind of B.S that makes people script movies like PHAT GIRLS. grin grin

And yeah, big bosoms don't count if you're fat, idiot. grin grin
This summarizes the whole thread. With all the mediocre /no talent at least look good / hot for petes sake .

The fans of New York could not even argue logically, having to result to insults and childish sentiments. AngieFan held up every argument. DeReoladed and Co just kept on refuting and refuting but made no point. Chei it's good to be intelligent small o.

And people who supported London, aren't any of you in a business schools or business men / women. New York fans said NY is the finance capital of the world.  .  . But they were WRONG !
London is actually the financial capital of the world and has been for a long time

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/26/business/worldbusiness/26iht-london.3300721.html

As for the OP Afam who hasn't been to either cities, he should just shut up.

I actually prefer NYC by far,and it's my dream city. But I respect people who can argue reasonably and sway me i.e AngieFan and Beaumont.  smiley
