Autos › Re: Lets Compare Automatic And Manual Cars by Kashif(m): 9:24am On Sep 22, 2008
The only advantage auto has over manual is convenience; nothing else. Auto makes you a near dummy driver (I am no exception).

The manual offers you control over the car. You can regulate the power delivered to the wheels with manual especially, during take off and bend negotiating (emphasis on wet/slippery roads). The auto uses torque converter while the manual uses dry clutch. This means that in manual, the entire power from the engine is delivered to the moving parts, while the torque converter saps a little in the case of auto (part of the reason manual is more fuel-efficient).

The auto transmission is bigger/heavier and heats up more easily than the manual (you woun't be wrong if you say this adds to weight of the car). Manual withstands stress a lot more than the auto, hence why they are used in heavy duty and sports vehicles. If the shifting in autos are not well programmed, you might get frustrated.

If you are good/skillful driver, manual is the way to go else, allow auto to do the driving for you. Like I said before, the advantage of auto is that you can drive it with one hand and one leg and still have space to look around. It requires less concentration and driver involvement.

Lets wait for the gurus. cheesy

Justcool,

I agree with all you said but I have something to clear/add.

The second phrase means "I have done my part, you do your own bit". Bone more or less, rightly belongs to the dog so, you are giving the dog what is he's but he would have to wrestle it out with the spirits, which are assumed to have interest too. You remember the addage that says, "God feeds all birds, but He does not bring it to their nests"

Just like saying, "I have given you the business card, the rest is up to you"

@all, "mana" simply means "but"; it means nothing else.

whether = ma. Example - wether good or bad. Igbo - ma odi mma ma odi njo. Note "Ma" could also mean "or", depending on the context as could be seen in this example.

That = na. Example - Tell him that I want to see him. Igbo - Gwa ya na A choro m ihu ya.

Cheers.

@ alawiyee
thanks 4 your response, really appreciate it.

@ everybody,

I'm an undergraduate preparing for his PMP exam and am trying 2 get some things clear.

I am just rounding up with my final thesis in d university and I know I'll meet all the PMI requirements before the end of this year (bachelors degree, etc, )
I have set a time target for my pmp certification, however d only challenge there seems to be is the 3 years project experience!

All my SWEP and Industrial attachment don't culminate in 3 years, please what do I do cry?
The truth be told; you cannot become a PMP just after graduating. The stipulation is that you should work on/direct projects for a minimum of 4500 hrs before you can be eligible to sit for the exam. It is unethical to cut corners in professional endevours. I suggest you go for CAPM if you cannot wait.

Keep moving; never look back.
Career › Re: Starting Project Management Training/certification by Kashif(op): 6:19pm On Sep 11, 2008
I am a PMP, and I was not trained at a REP. It might interest you to know that my application was audited and I easily breezed through. All I was asked to submit was my certificate of training which was duely signed by a PMP. In addition to REPs, page 7 of PMP handbook says that you could be trained by a consultant. This means that the consultant can even come to your house to train you, if you can pay.

I agree that CAPM requires 23hr training (not 25) or 1,500hr project team work; I might not have been paying close attention to the CAPM credential.

Cheers.

SOJ:
This is strictly FYI: Just as Rare mentioned, every info u need concerning PMI, Prince2/PMP/CAPM can be gleaned online. I started my search online 4 years ago and now i'm a member of the PMI, a member of PMI Lagos chapter and currently studying towards a CAPM cert. All online and not through an agent whatsoever!

Do the same,I advice anyone and don't leave your info sources in the hands of d numerous training centers in naija now. For example, if u do your due dilligence u will discover that there are only 3 training institutes recognized by PMI in naija. I wouldn't give u their names though;u must find that out d way i did: www.pmi.org

D way i see it,if anyone's truly interested in project management, he'll take d first step by googling it!

all d best,,,,
SOJ,

If you have really read the requirements from PMI's website well, you would discover that you must be trained for at least, 35 hrs before you sit for any of the credentials. Again, it is not only REPs that can train you. Check again and see if I am wrong.

Best of luck in your pursuit. wink

In as much as her 'support for Obama' is misplaced, I dont see any reason she should be arrested. Moreover, it was Festus Keyamo that petitioned the EFCC and Ndi was called in for questioning. I have not read where it was reported that she was "arrested and detained".

Nobody was coerced into paying for the dinner. There was no false pretense either. The intent was clearly labelled from the onset so, anybody who paid knew what he was paying for. The funds might not reach Obama because some obvious reasons (It may somehow trickle to him anyways) but, it was for his campaign and that was that. There have been other dinners with 7 digit tag!

Thanks to y'all that responded to the translation request.

We finally translated SECURE PASSWORD AUTHENTICATION as:

Nnyocha akara nnabata echedoro echedo
Hmmmmmm, E nwere m ntakiri ntunye na nkea.

SECURE = Nchekwa/Nchedo/Mkpuchi

PASSWORD = Okwu Igodo (Key is called Igodo in Igbo language so, permit me to translate 'pass' as 'key')

AUTHENTICATION = Ntule (Nnyocha could pass for VERIFICATION)

So lets analys that phrase "SECURE PASSWORD AUTHENTICATION".  We will agree that the main process here is to authenticate the password. However, the ambiguity arises if you discreetly want to know what is secure. Is it the PASSWORD or the PASSWORD AUTHENTICATION? Let us assume (from Echelon's interpretation), that it is the PASSWORD that is SECURE. (Sorry for the 'unnecessary' details).

So we should have something like this:

Ntule Igodo Okwu echekwara echekwa.

It is possible I am wrong. Umu nna, O bu ihe mere ede o ji bee nwii. Udo diri unu nile.

These classes can be taken at your own pace. So you wont have to spend the hundreds of thousands of Naira preparing for the exams.

Politics › Re: I Watched As Snipers Killed Six Kidnappers by Kashif(m): 6:26pm On Aug 15, 2008
I am not very surprised that Nigerians are underating themselves. I laughed when I read some of those posts where fellas are shouting "na lie! e no fit happen for naija!!" That shows that we dont know what it takes to be in specialised military (or paramilitary) formation/unit. Being a sniper does not need all those 'specialised' equipment you watch in movies.

The shot that killed JF Kennedy was fired from a Remington XP-100 fireball in the grassy knoll. You can google that gun to discover that it was/is not a sophisticated gun. Some even say it could pass for a pistol though with less recoil. Most rifles when equipped with good telescopic sight and manned by a personnel with good marksmanship, will bring down any man within range. It is high time we stopped all these imperialistic disposition. Many of us think nothing good could ever come out of this country. How would we progress with such mindset?

When Dele Giwa was murdered in the 80's and the military was fingered, their quick response (which almost every Nigerian bought) was that the weapon used in killing him was too sophisticated for the Nigerian military. I believed them untill we were given graphical narration on how that bomb was developed by our own son, a nuclear physicist. Infact, he prepared it under house arrest in his village in Enugu state (though not knowing the purpose).

Somebody mentioned that Nigeria has one of the best infantries in the world. It is not baseless. I dont know why but it goes with a lot of credit. What is there being a sniper? Perhaps, it is the nomenclature? Dont you think all those game shooters could pass for amateur snipers?

The story mentioned that one of the kidnappers was an undergraduate. That shows you the level of their naivity. Professional kidnappers would not let a woman menstruate without giving her pad or an improvise. For those sort of kidnappers, guys still in the sniper academy would not have to hold their breath when pulling the trigger nor require a spotter. They dont need to watch blood suger levels during preparation either!

My people, it is very possible to bring them down as narrated. Shalom. cool

Car Talk › Re: What Makes A V6 Engine Different From Normal Car Engines by Kashif(m): 6:47pm On Aug 14, 2008
In simple terms:

V6 will take you 27 miles for every gallon of fuel (highway)
4cyl will take you 30 miles for every gallon of fuel (highway)

It is as simple as that. Your mathematical representation simply tries to prove that V6 will get you there faster with a little trade off on fuel. Sure, you should not expect fuel consumption of V6 to be 1.5 of 4cyl simply because it has two extra cylinders. Because of the increased power it delivers; it makes up for that (if you consider its torque).

We are looking at the bottom line friend. 27mpg VS 30mpg grin

Car Talk › Re: What Makes A V6 Engine Different From Normal Car Engines by Kashif(m): 3:13pm On Aug 14, 2008
@jp, you seem to be confusing some terms.

the V6 delivers 27mpg (miles per gallon), and the 4 cylinder delivers 30mpg which means that the 4 cyl will take you longer distance than the V6 with the same quantity of fuel. You were interpreting it as if those were consumptions. There is no way 194hp would consume less than a 136hp (excluding load factors).

I am not an auto expert but I am sure of the above.  grin wink
