ApexTitan:Oh Kings Landing will hear soon enough, but the news will have to come by road - and Moat Cailin (which is where Sansa was first openly recognized) to Kings Landing no be one day waka. And from all I've seen, "raven-mail" is managed by maesters, and only great houses can keep a maester... so no "raven-mail" for the little folks. P.S: In a totally unrelated topic, wtf did Seun do to NL mobile platform?? |
ApexTitan:The answer is actually obvious if you look at it carefully... It was Tywin that everyone feared, not Cercei. And now he's dead. Even Lord Bolton admitted as much to his son when they discussing Ramsay's method of rule. Secondly, Petyr Baelish is Cercei's main source of power and influence outside of KingsLanding (as evidenced by the crow missive she sent asking him to come back to the capital); at the present location so up in the North, Petyr is actually her ONLY reliable source - the North has no love for her. And the Boltons who could have informed her are now forging new alliances. So both Petyr and Roose Bolton are now brave to do things they'd never have tried before - unveil the heir to the North and make her alliance. With the Tyrells cleaning their chops and eager for a killing, House Lannister is really weak (remember they are still reeling from the costs of the war with Robb Stark and Stannis). Tywin is dead - Cercei can scream blue murder all she wants, Kevan will be sure to caution restraint - Tyrion was the one accused, they can afford to let the lil she-wolf go. Otherwise, alienate Petyr and Bolton, and the crown loses the North AND the Vale... again. |
Gbola5:There's a whole world of debate ongoing about that last scene; was it Moat Cailin or Winterfell? (Sansa and Petyr meeting the Boltons). See https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/34cbnl/spoilers_all_season_5_ep_3_question_moat_cailin/ but beware spoilers. But that washerwoman's statement (``Welcome home, Lady Stark. The North remembers" ) pretty much settles it for me. |
Minemrys:divergent, insurgent, whats that last one to be called again? detergent...? ![]() Never really liked them "young teen" movies, lack real substance IMO. I made the mistake of reading the books back when folks were comparing hunger games, the maze, and divergent... Was a real bad idea. |
Minemrys:If you are going to talk of his speed in TDKR, then you need to remember that he's SUPPOSED to be slow by then. And I'm not talking of comic book iterations. I take the character the way it is presented, and in TDKR he's supposed to be tired and retired. |

Whoever wrote this nonsense is just looking to be noticed. Nolan made 3 Batman movies and Snyder made one Sups, and suddenly they have ruined super hero movies?? Interestingly (and annoyingly, I might add), the only point he/she made to support his claim - that Nolan's dark-hued take on the Batman saved the day - actually counts AGAINST his topic! |
Minemrys:This is why I don't like making comparisons between super heroes - they are products of the imaginations of more than one author/writer/artist/movie director, thus their attributes NEVER stay the same. Good example: in "Justice League: War", Superman beat Batman AND Green Lantern together, as in, the kind of "knacking" he gave both of them is best described as "dont be stup!d"! But from what i can glean from the BvS trailer, apparently Bats is going be able to hold his own here.Personally though (and this is just my opinion), I think Bale's Batman was wee bit slow - the fight sequences left a bit to desired. The one fight in the trilogy that gets a true pass-mark is the BatsVsBane in the sewers. Well, Mr. Synder's job on MoS rates pretty good on fights, so I hope BvS will be ok. EDIT: Wait, I take it back - Bale's Batman wasn't slow - i still remember how fast he took down the guys at the docks in Batman Begins. Then in TDK, he didn't really have much fight scenes (apart from the ending sequence that I couldn't make head or tail out of). So no, he wasn't really slow, it was the fight sequences that just seemed, i dunno, cluttered up, like it was glossed over. |
^^^ With the death of Tywin, Petyr Baelish is probably the most dangerous person in the Seven Kingdoms right now. Sansa might yet grow, but i don't see her ever outgrowing his influence. |
I think we've sufficiently dissuaded the GoT S05 haters... perhaps its time we return back to some real discussion. And I happen to have a topic in mind: Based on what we've seen so far of Lady Sansa, the only known living heir to Winterfell, where do you see her in the next two/three episodes? Does she metamorphose into a true GoT player, or does she continue being played? (Please note: all thoughts and conjectures should be based solely on the TV show). What I think: yes, LF has really taught her well, but she (Sansa) still lacks a great deal of "smarts". Why else turn Brienne away totally? Yes Brienne failed her mother and has been "fraternizing with the enemy" (i.e. Jaime Lannister), but she is also the first person to openly offer Sansa her support without hope of some kind of gain. No other northerner, whether bannerman or free rider, has even made the effort to find her, let alone offer support. The wise thing - in my opinion anyway - would have been tongue-lash Brienne for failing her Lady mother (Catelyn) so horribly (heck, nobody likes a useless subordinate), warn her that any further failure will lead to her death, accept her fealty upon pain of death, and then keep her at arm's length while you study and verify her motives (I know this is what the Imp would have done - half-a-supporter is better than none at all). OR, if you are so sure she's not trustworthy, then make sure she is killed (Cersei or Tywin would have done this). I mean, this is the Brienne whom King Renly died on her watch, then she managed to "kidnap" Jaime back to Kings Landing, AND somehow manages to locate Ned Stark's heir that NO ONE else could find - you don't leave someone like that alive if you don't trust them abeg! Anyhow sha, i think Brienne will come in at some point, in fact I see her having a brutal standoff with Ramsay Bolton soon - perhaps to save Sansa or something like that. What do you guys think? |
gj22:Amen, brother. |
ITbomb:May I ask why you say so? |
^^^ So true. I rewatched Goldeneye some weeks ago, and while it was still nice, I really had problems reconciling it in my head as the same Pierce Brosnan hit that I so loved years ago. |
Csami:Lol @ put to sleep twice. That movie's storyline was just, I dunno, sad. And that scene where the centaurs turned into men on horseback, I still can't decide if I was impressed or disappointed. So far, bittorrent has been my best friend - Furious 7, Spook's Apprentice (thank God I didn't waste good money on this one!), Chappie, etc... Only one movie is taking me to the cinema next week: Avengers 2. ![]() |
^^^ Poisoned Tywin how?? Because Tyrion met him in the loo? That's stretching it, please. |
Aegon:LF = Littlefinger. |
^^^ Right on all counts! ... except I never implied Doran wanted to marry Daenerys himself. But that's why its a discussion - I misquote something, you correct me, and everybody is happy. But my "misquotes" no bad as "white walker pacifists" and "ice magic" sha.. ![]() |
Gbola5: Aegon:No wonder... I think it'll be better we stick to the books here, otherwise we'll just be having crazy arguments over the inconsistencies. Good example: In the show, Balon Greyjoy still rules the Iron Islands; but in the books he's been dead for over a year, a Kings Moot has already been conducted, and his pirate wanderlust son, Euron Crows-Eye Greyjoy, currently occupies the Seastone Chair. Mmm. So... going by the books, LF has no business calling the northern lords' banners. First of all, NOBODY knows he has Sansa Stark; a fake Sansa has even been married off to Ramsay Bolton. Secondly, only the Warden of the North (or the King in the North) can call the northern banners, and LF is none of these. As per Doran Martell's plans, yeah unfortunately for him nothing seems to be going right - Oberyn is dead, the Frog is dead too - but i don't think he was all about revenge. Dorne has pretty good assassins and he could have sent any number any time he wanted. He wants something more, he wants power, he wants a piece of the Iron Throne, and yes he wants payback for his enemies too. Which is why he's chasing an alliance with the last living Targaryen - who also happens to have 3 freaking dragons. He's hoping and believing that his enemies will be her enemies too. Sadly his best gamble got burnt to crispies by Rhaegal in Mereen in the last book. |
And so I made it my business to report the two posts above me; thankfully they've been hidden. ApexTitan, I take my words back, please. @Gbola5, for some reasons which I cannot fathom, you have stubbornly refused to follow this thread's rules. Well, Newsflash: Take your oversabi, i-too-know, aproko-without-battery discussion to the GoT/ASOIAF thread in the Literature section! The worst of it is you are so wrong on so many points. Please, this thread is for the TV show. Keeping informed and savvy on the show's plot points is one thing; derailing the thread with STORY ARCS and CHARACTERS that are NOT in the show is another entirely. |
It's a crying shame, bro. I personally hold nothing against the brits and americans and - heck, just about anyone who has a white skin - whom our own customs have decided treat like demigods. But it really pains me when I remember the INTENSE scrutiny and microscopic analysis I received at the U.S airports, specifically Houston. I blame two groups of people: (1) our own brothers and sisters out there giving the rest of us a bad name and calling it "hustling"; (2) our unexposed, poorly paid, and barely literate custom officers - walahi whenever I make the mental effort of comparing them to their counterparts abroad, laff go just dey kill me! ![]() |
And here I was, looking at my experienced and over-skilled CV, and wondering if maybe I shouldn't start thinking of migrating to the U.K where these recruiters keep mailing me from... Well, thanks for this, OP. I'll just jejely shift my antenna to somewhere else where they actually want me. |
ibrokola:It is very apparent that you don't drive. Like a wise man said, It is better to keep quiet and let people wonder if you are an id!ot, than to open your mouth and then prove them right. |
^^^ then your "Night Watching" skills may need a lil upgrade. I do get what you mean though. |
^^^ I seriously doubt that. With the events in Mereen, Damphair ought to be making moves towards the Kings Moot right about now. But instead the show's Balon Greyjoy is still (presumably) hale and hearty. Perhaps they may end up merging Victarion and Euron's characters, and possibly fix the character as the pirate that captures Jorah Mormont and the Imp. |
I just remembered something... Whatever happened to Asha Greyjoy? I mean, we know how she turned out in the books, but the show seems to have forgotten about her. And I don't remember seeing her in the pre-season trailers. Mmm... I guess this means we won't be seeing the rest of the Greyjoys in the show - Victarion, Euron, whatshisname that serves the Drowned God... I kinda like their story arc. No Kings Moot either, so no blowing of the dragon horn. Sucks. |
ApexTitan:No thanks to Maester Gbola5 and Grand Measter gj22. |
SIRcumalot:Yeah i figured out you meant the show later... but to edit the post just taya me, so i left it like that. ![]() Well, this might be a pointless argument, but their guerrilla tactics worked, dinit? |
SIRcumalot:Trust me, I hope I'm wrong too! And yeah, that whole misadventure in Dorne just felt silly to me - the idea had merit (crown a queen and use her against her mother and the throne), but the convoluted way which GRRM went about writing it just bored the hell outta me. But mind you, just a order from the King wouldn't have brought Myrcella home; Prince Doran would simply refuse, and the crown would either match its already depleted forces into Dorne (and lose of course, not even Aegon the conquerer could conquer Dorne), or it would simply swallow the shame...and people who do that don't last long in the game of thrones. |
vhickky:Warging wasn't really explored that much in the show, but yes you have a fair idea what it is. Remember that fight between Jon Snow and the wildlings (was it season 2 or 3? I forget), while Bran and the Reed siblings were hiding in a nearby tower? Remember how Bran eyes turned up whites and the screen switched to Bran's direwolf suddenly jumping out and attacking the wildlings in Jon's aid.. Well, that was warging. ![]() |
