LeSulk: If not for Jon Arryn, I would have said that the Eyrie are cursed with childish, little lords. Could it be because they have their heads in the clouds? (pun intended) Imagine selling your kingdom not for a dragon but a dragonride. Actually it was Queen Reagent Sharra Arryn that negotiated House Arryn's surrender, and wisely too. The Vale is probably impregnable to a ground force, but just 1 dragon circling in the air would have reduced that small castle to slag. And Visenya would have done it, too - she flew her dragon Vhagar right into the Eyrie's inner courtyard. The Vale's navy had been winning a battle against the Targeryens until Visenya flew by and burned a good portion of their fleet. By the time Queen Sharra arrived back at the Eyrie, sly and deadly Visenya Targaryen was already sitting in her courtyard with Sharra's son, the little Ronnel, on Visenya's laps. Checkmate. Of course Sharra immediately discussed the terms of her surrender with Visenya. The ride on the dragon only came afterwards, Visenya's way of proving that she no longer meant the little king-soon-to-become-lord any harm. |

BraniacX: if the rumors are true, then in brienne the beauty the blood of ser Duncan the tall ran truest I certainly hope the rumors are true. The old shield that Brienne saw back on Tarth is strongly believed to be Dunk's very own. And my preferred conviction: Brienne is so much like Ser Duncan - tall, big, brave, way too much honour and not enough sense, and loyal to the end. From The Citadel https://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Entry/US_Signing_Tour_Dayton_OH/:Asked [GRRM] if he'll ever tell which character is Dunk's descendent. Got a rather acerbic, "I gave a pretty strong hint in the new book [AFFC]," to which I sheepishly replied "Yea, but I read it real fast, in three days."" I told him I suspected Brienne but thought that she was too obvious and that he'd be more subtle than that and he said, "You think?" Coy bastard. |

Seun: That won't do because the Lady of Winterfell needs heirs. Also, she needs someone who is intellectually stimulating. I want Sansa to get back with Tyrion. I think they bring out the best in each other. She will keep him grounded and he will teach her many things. They'll be unstoppable.
I'm also shipping Brienne and Tormund. His love is so pure . He didn't get jealous when Jaime got to 'knight' her. He was just happy for her.
The incestous relationship between Jon and Dany has my support. People think that Dany will turn against Jon because of his claim, but I think she will surprise us. Her original motivation was to restore Targaryens to the throne that she felt was stolen from them. She supported Viserys and Karl Drogo*, but after they died and she got three dragons, she had no choice to take the throne by herself. As we saw in Mereen, Dany doesn't really enjoy ruling. She doesn't have the patience for it. Jon Snow, on the other hand, is a great ruler. I think she will support him. The argument they had after Jon revealed his parentage was very mellow. She didn't threaten to roast him or even raise her voice. They'll be fine. The North will never accept a Lannister. All these "ships" and canoes sef... Well, whatever rocks one's boat I guess, pun totally intended. |

TheSTreetman: You can still be strip off the title of Knight bro. If the King don't trust you or doesn't want you.
Refrence ; Ser Barristan Selmy was a knight who served in the Kingsguard with distinction for almost forty years. He served in the Kingsguard of King Aerys II Targaryen, and later served as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard during the reigns of King Robert I Baratheon, and, for a short time, King Joffrey I Baratheon. After his public dismissal by Joffrey (an affront, as the Kingsguard is an irrevocable lifetime appointment), Ser Barristan, free of any vows, chooses to serve Daenerys Targaryen. He was relieved of his position in the Kingsguards, he was not un-knighted. He remained a Ser till his death. |

Ksslib: Thank you for this. It begins to put things into perspective for me.
I know those books are dammmmn good & detailed - one of the reasons I want to read all. However, considering the show is at Season finale already, do you think it'll be wise to go back in time & read them with all the spoilers I now know?
I'm still contemplating if it'll be enjoyable , without that anti-climax feel , since I already kind of know what will happen.
Has anyone here ever watched a Movie/show and went back to read the books and still THEOUGHLY enjoyed it? Yes. Me. This very show, GoT. I watched Season 1 first, back in 2012; they were about midway through Season 2 then, but I was thoroughly hooked. Imagine my joy when I read that it based off a book series; I went in search of those, A Song of Ice and Fire. I believe GRRM had just released Book4 then. You think you've seen spoilers? Wait till you read the books, a world of details, history, back-story, and crucial characters you don't even know about yet. So rich that you discover more things each time you re-read. I've re-read the entire series 3times; considering doing it again when Season 8 ends. Only drawback is the show has overtaken the books; the author, GRRM, seems to have incurred the worst case of Writer's Laziness I have ever seen, and fans have given up hope on ever seeing the conclusion of one the greatest works of fiction. |

ChristoBam: It’s a song tied to Rhaegar and Lyanna’s love, to Jon and Dany’s origin, to the Azor Ahai prophecy , to those doomed to die, and to those who will live to remember them. That the song plays over shots of some of our heroes and the people that matter most to them—Sam/Gilly, Theon/Sansa, Arya/Gendry, Grey Worm/Missande, and, finally, Jon/Daenerys—should make us very worried for our favorites, and for the people who will live to mourn them. Saw this on vanity fair and I think it's accurate, the timing of the song and the way some particular characters were shown while the song is playing points to a massive tragedy for those characters. That song is symbolic. Very true. For me, it was the crowning sequence of episode 2. But I am not worried. Good people will die. Bad people will die. It's just life... another day on Game of Thrones. And the best part? It's all the same to the Many-faced god. |

Ksslib: Dear antispam bot, pls let me be.. Banned me five times within an hour.. wtf!!! Who else is experiencing this?
Anyways I absolutely loved that Jenny song rendition by Podrick. Had to download it on YouTube. It was beautiful.... and blended perfectly with the mood. The partial darkness in the chamber, the luminance of burning flames scattered across the room, the sudden dead silence, the melancholy on thier faces, the brief moment of self-reflection as his voice echoed in the background. Perfecto!!!
As beautiful as the song was, it made something turn inside of my stomach. Bad feeling. Very bad one.
It's a song on one hand but the moment you close your ears and start to listen from the soul it begins to sound like a prophecy. That song is beautiful & eerie at the same time. A radioactive mixture of light & darkness. The type that can make your grandmother appear from nowhere like booooom!!!
Who is Jenny? Is Jenny a pseudonym?
As if the lyrics wasn't deep enough, the camera kept panning to different characters as the song progressed. Each line describing the moment on screen - including this one - "Took away her sorrows & pain" as they showed a half-naked Arya - a reference to how Gendry's D1ck has taken away her sorrows and pain.
Then this last line , "She never wanted to leave" , coincided just as Danyerys appeared on screen and started walking to Jon.
Well well well...
Maybe there's nothing to the song though & I just need to tone down on the weed like some of you have advised. She was a local girl who used to dance with flowers in her hair. Prince Duncan Targaryen fell in love with her and eventually had to renounce his birth-right to the Iron Throne in order to marry her. A short war was fought because of it. This was almost a hundred years before the events of King Robert's rebellion. Jenny claimed descent from an old extinct line of kings whose seat was at Oldstones, now an old, abandoned cluster of crumbling stones. She was also friends with a strange, small old woman who was thought to be a Child of the Forest. It was this small woman that prophesied that the Prince that was Promised will be born of Prince Aerys and Princess Rhaella Targaryen. We book-readers know Jenny of Oldstones well. |

Sasquatch: What if the Night King is actually headed to Kings Landing whilst his army is attacking Winterfell - grabbing himself an easy million + extra wights?
Hear me out...
The Night King isn’t the traditional villain he actually has won every battle he was in. His extremely calculative when it comes to his every move, no move seems to be unplanned.
Dany:
Dany had a vision of Kings Landing in complete ruin with snow...the place was deserted, not a single soul in sight. Before season 7 I use to think that Dany herself would destroy Kings Landing because she said that she is going to destroy the wheel..
Night King gets a dragon. Changes everything.
Bran:
Bran has a vision of a dragon flying over Kings Landing - again, I use to think that this was Dany until he got a dragon.
Bran said the Nights King can see where he is, what if unknowingly to Bran he can also access Brans memories thus revealing their plans?
One dragon vs two isn’t a risk I think the Night King would stupidly take. It makes no sense for him to put himself up against those odds.
Thoughts? The bolded vision has already come to pass. Dany flew over Kings Landing on Drogon when she came for the meeting in the Dragonpit. |

Since there are Queens on either side of Westeros, her knighthood would probably stand. Though I see her unknighted if Cersei triumphs and finds out Jaime knighted her. A knight cannot be un-made. |

ntyce: Knighting of Brienne was just an advert for feminism....
Nice scene though You speak out of ignorance, friend. In the source-material for GOT, besides Ned Stark, Brienne of Tarth was the ONLY person that lived and fought as a true knight should. But she was a woman, and ugly, and not very intelligent. And so no one would knight her. Read this: kay9: <Book 4: A Feast for Crows:: *finished*>
I'm really short of words... After the penultimate Brienne chapter where Brienne the Beauty fought Rorge and Biter, when she made that stand to draw away the last band of the Bloody Mummers from the kids at the Crossroads Inn, knowing it would be the death of her, I literally got heart-sick...
I think of the first four books of the series, AFFC is the most underated... It is here we finally meet a true knight but we barely recognize what we are shown because, surprise! the knight is a woman, is ugly, and isn't that smart after all. |

meforkene: Thank you bro. You are one of the few that understand the effect of fans reaction on D & D and the series.
Fans reactions triggered the death and resurrection of Jon Snow; the total love between Jon and Dany(Jonaerys) and most importantly, the sudden character developement and forced smartness of Sansa Stark. Even the Gendry and Arya shipping on going. Fans are mostly the cause of all the cheesy love groupings. But Jon did die in the book; fans had nothing to do with it. Nobody knows if there will any resurrection, but lots of hints and teases - Beric Dondarrion, Melisandre, Ghost, Orell, the Azor Ahai prophesy. Sansa was slowly but definitely wisening-up in the last book; her bare-faced lie and excellent "acting" skills saved Petr Baelish from being deposed by the Lords of the Vale. |

meforkene: Are we actually watching the same show?
Jon Snow bent the knee when he was really convinced Dany was going to totally involve in the fight for living.
Do you remember Jon's convo with Tormund beyond the wall when he cited Mance as a non-kneeler and how it affected his people because of his arrogance and stubbornness? I do. And most likely this is the moment he begins to consider bending the knee to save his people. But then along comes Dany with the dragons after all without Jon bending the knee. Afterwards on his sick bed, Dany visits him and confirms that she will fight against the White Walkers, still without Jon bending the knee! It is now at this point, overwhelmed with emotions that Jon calls her "my queen". Like I said, Jon made that decision based on emotion, he fell in love. If we may play devil's advocate and say what if Dany decides to back out again, then it's back to what I said before: Consult the Northern lords that crowned him. At least give them a chance to offer their opinions before giving away the crown they gave him in honour. |

raumdeuter: How many of thse courtesy did they offer to house Targaryan when they were eliminating them? How many did they offer to House Baratheon?
All the people left in those 2 great families who once ruled all fled and are in hiding
So the courtesy that no one gave her Targaryan family she should gove to one Tarly family Did anyone even offer her the chance to bend the knee and be saved when they were wiping out her family? The Baratheons were usurpers to the Targaryens in King Robert's War (just like the Boltons were to the Starks in the Bast@rd Bowl). In such cases in Westerosi tradition, each capturing/wining group COMPLETELY annihilates the other (that is why Tywin destroyed House Reyne of Castermere; they tried to usurp House Lannisters' rulership of the Westerlands). This is also why even after Visery's death, King Robert still ordered assasins sent after the then little Daenerys, to ensure complete domination. But Tarly was not a usurper; he was a Lord fighting for his liege. So your analogy fails. For comparison, years back, Theon's father, Balon Greyjoy, had tried to usurp King Robert's rule - he claimed independence for the Iron Islands and crown himself king. Ned Stark quashed that rebellion. The rightful penalty was death for all members of House Greyjoy, but Ned Stark counseled mercy; all of Theon's elder brothers had died in the battle and old man Greyjoy begged forgiveness. So Robert forgave and took away his only remaining son - Theon - and fostered him in Winterfell... basically turning the baby Kraken into a direwolf-wannabe. |

The Dothraki believes in leadership by contest. Was there any contest in this case?... The answer is NO. The Dothraki only feared her, seeing her walk unscathed through the fire while the other Khals were engulfed by it. You are wrong. She paid for the entire squads of trained Unsullied PLUS the still-in-training ones with ONE dragon - Drogon. She handed the dragon to the slave masters but they couldn't control it; and then they unwisely commented "tell the b!tch her beast won't come", to which Daenerys replied "A dragon is not a slave"... And then Dracarys. |

Elder0001: How does being male make him true heir to the throne ? Is Danny not older ?
Danny is directly the child of the mad king .
Misogyny and patriarchy has taken over your brain Misogyny AND patriachy are actually the norm here. In Westerosi, the male heir supersedes the female, even if he is younger. The female only rules when there aren't any more males. Jorah Mormont had an elder sister but he was Lord of Bear Island after his father until Ned Stark ran him off, then the elder sister (little Lyanna Mormont's mother) took over until she "died". Cercei was the elder yet Jamie was named to be Lord of Casterly Rock until he unwittingly joined the Kingsguard, then Tyrion started gingering for the position - even though Cercei was still there. To further muddy the waters, the Seven Kingdoms have an unwritten rule that no female heir shall seat the Iron Throne... But of course Dany has 2 dragons while Jon has zero. So let's see what happens. By the way, wtf is @Gbola when you need him for some history lessons?? |

melodyogonna: they fought a battle oga, she gave them a choice, that is the way of war. though I agree she might have imprisoned dickon and burn only the father. Actually, that is NOT the way of war in Westeros. In the heat of battle, ANYONE may be killed or maimed. But afterwards, especially if they put down their arms, the NOBLES are imprisoned in dungeons, the HEADS of the Houses (Lords) may or may not be killed depending on how stubborn they are (Lord Tarly qualifies as stubborn, so he will be most likely be executed). But the SONS/DAUGHTERS of the Lords are excellent bargaining pieces; no matter how hot-headed they are, if they are the ONLY son/daughter, then you simply cannot afford to kill them, else you will extinguish that House forever - and no, Samwell doesn't count as a second son, he is a Sworn Brother. My point is, Daenerys made a grave error. If you hope to win people's loyalty, then you simply cannot exterminate their lineage like that. Tyrion said as much. You only do that if you want to rule by making them fear you, like Tywin did. |

Yonce: Lmao Jon specifically said she has three dragons. Unsullied. Dothraki. All of which are needed if they stood a chance against NK. If Dany was an elephant or a goat, he'd still bend the knee cause he doesn't want to be king. Jon realized she had all that as soon as he arrived Dragonstone, yet he refused to bend the knee. He finished mining dragonglass AND sailed north, and still did not bend the knee. Then along comes Dany sallying forth on not one, not two, but three freaking dragons to save his bacon... and our King in the North finally has a eureka moment. We can sugarcoat it all we want but the glaring fact is Jon made that decision based on emotion - he fell in love with the woman who would sacrifice her children to save people. And so he bent the knee. |

These are characters we've grown with and should know in-out by now na. Jon look like the type who'll sacrifice duty for pu$s$$y? Bending the knee was essential for survival. He would have done it regardless of gender, race or class. If he suspected Dany was not capable, he would have still fallen in love with her regardless BUT wouldn't have bent the knee.
The Pu$$$y was just an extra package that came with the bending. He didn't sacrifice it for kitten; he sacrificed it for love. He truly loves Daenerys Targaryen... This woman lost one of her children - Viserion the dragon - to save him. #ThinkAboutIt. Of course I still don't think he should have bent the knee; that crown belonged to the Northern lords and Jon had no right to give away without consulting them first. I'm just saying that I understand why he did it anyway. |
