vannessa7: Being emotional has its own advantage and downside too, most problem can actually be solved by emotions such as empathy and sympathy which a logical person may not have. This over hyped logical thinking is the reason why Russia and Ukraine are still at it, it's the reason most war are being fought and most criminals are men, it's the reason why men are poligamous in nature and most motor accidents are caused by men. The Almighty God that created women to be emotional in His infinite wisdom knows there is a need for balance. Logic or emotional is not the best way to assess human character traits, there are many tools already created for that, you can start with Tim Lahayes book, "Why you act the way you do" Palmistry is another hobby which I enjoy and it will give you insight into character traits and it's on the net, you will realise there are diverse human being. I was even shocked to read your write-up because I find many men foolish or dumb and I'm sure most women do, what you call emotion is just another way of seeing the same situation and it's mostly right because the spiritual controls the physical, that argument that sound foolish may be coming from a higher intelligence because God has found women more able to listen to him than men thus divine information can be passed down through her rather than someone who only react to the physical. As for all those slay queens and little girls acting up, those ones are still growing and their action is not a yardstick for measuring all women. If women are not emotional many will abandon their children and seek other husband's imagine what society we will have, it's the father that does that so that even when they are there they may not care for their children where as the mothers always care in most cases.
Do you know that your comment is the ONLY one I have read here that does not deny (implicitly or explicitly) that MOST women are truly, unarguably more emotional than logical. Sure, you mixed it up with some religious mumbo-jumbo but that's still ok. The important thing (to me), is that you alone (out of the multitude of female comments here) actually listened to the OP's reasons for why he sees women the way he does.
@KlausMichaelson, I think you should listen to this woman; she makes an interesting argument on why being emotional is probably not such a bad thing.
I will never understand what APC chieftains were thinking when they chose old decrepit Tinubu over a smart, intelligent Osinbajo. Like, did you think 200 million Nigerians are f0ols? Tufiakwa.
chival: Forestalling huge withdrawals by politicians is also the reason for the withdrawal limit placed by CBN on both individuals and organisations. It is a no-brainer, if Emefiele is able to stand his ground on this issue, many politicians will be affected adversely in the coming elections.
Excellent insight, my very same opinion. I also foresee Meffy suddenly doing a U-turn maybe 1 week after elections and "bowing to the demands of the honest Nigerian public" to lift restrictions on depositing old notes for another 2 months.
Words are never enough at times like these. I've never been the religious or praying type. But I know it - in my heart, I know it - that there's a divine consciousness out there. One that makes it their business to give succour and comfort to the bereaved and brokenhearted. May the peace and love of this One heal you, and envelope you and your loved ones in this trying period.
QuinModah: Last Friday, I hugged one of my most impressive colleagues goodbye. He turned away, sobbing. I turned away with voice quaking, realizing what a big loss he would be.
Later that evening, I had another get-together with a second friend who relocates this week. While discussing his massive expense, he suddenly slouched in his chair, stressfully squeezed the empty ragolis bottle in his hands and concluded:
"Oremi, this relocation has cost me almost everything" "You don’t want to know!" He further sighed "You don’t."
Today, with the help and data from three (3) relocating friends, I compile the rough cost (below) for prospective relocating families (focus on UK) and a poem for my friend and Nigeria:
Cost of Japa from Nigeria for a family of 4= 180k Renewal of Passport Official rate 22k Accelerated rate 45k Some pay as high as 75k
Transcript 75k Usually, one parent is a student 30-45k for school runs 25-30k to send
Proof of fund (In deposit) Family of 4 need 25m in deposited in an accoun 2-3 months
UK Visa 1.4m Family of 4 pay 475-pound sterling
NHF Family of 4 pay 875-pound sterling
Flight ticket 2.8m Depending on booking 700k person x4 Some have booked as high as 1.2m
Arrival Accommodation 4.4m 1st Month shortlet 200-pound sterling per week refundable deposit of 250 pound First 6 months at 750 pounds
Total Cost 19m for family of four to UK not Canada or US. It can be cheaper or more
Oremi, I hope we meet again, as you japa to find fresh grain, to return if Nigeria again reigns? God, will any leader ever end this drain? But prayers will be in vain, if in 2023, unwisely we vote again.
God bless everyone who has relocated. God bless everyone staying behind. God bless #Nigeria.
Your estimate is actually VERY conservative, ma. At current rates/costs in the UK, that family will sleep on the streets.
For a family of 5 - dad, mum, 3 kids (all under 10), you should budget AT LEAST N25m-N30m.
BraniacX: magnar of then had the size advantage and his weapon the bronze battle axe had the weight and kinetic energy advantage so Jon being disarmed was a given, besides he still won that fight after being disarmed, that's doggedness and combat intelligence, if we are to use ser Arthur dayne as a standard for measurement then nobody else will measure up so belay that comparison
The comparison was only made because someone said Jon is a great swordsman... and proceeded to post his video "evidence" when challenged. Lol
Did you seriously post a video of Jon Snow fighting UNTRAINED Night's Watch RECRUITS as evidence of his "great" swordsmanship?? Chaii
Oberyn Martell, the Viper. Sandor Clegane the Hound. Ser Jaime Lannister the Kingslayer. Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. Any of these men would have wiped the floor with your "great" Jon Snow. If you too lazy to disabuse yourself of your ignorance, sorry.
TheKingIsHere: It's funny how you forget that Jon Snow fought not just one but two top tier night walkers and WON! You think it is beans to defeat one top night walker?
If you think that was nothing, then I don't have anything else to say to you on this matter
I guess you mean WHITE walkers.
Oga, stop displaying ignorance. With valyrian steel or dragonglass, even untrained wildlings can kill white walkers. Why do you think Jon was determined mine at Dragonstone?? You should probably go and check how many white walkers Sam killed before you used them as a yardstick. Or maybe Samwell Tarly a.k.a Sam the Slayer a.k.a Ser Piggy is now also a GREAT SWORDSMAN.
TheKingIsHere: When I saw kay9 post, I just shook my head. The Jon Snow disrespect is massive.
Only Jamie (with both hands) can match or win Jon snow in combat.
Disrespect? Lol ..
Even ignoring the books totally, Jon Snow was disarmed by Magnar of Thenn. Compare to what First Sword of Braavos, Syrio Forrel said to Arya about your sword and your arm, and you'll understand what it means for your "one of the greatest" to be disarmed in battle by a wildling that Sandor Clegane will make short work of.
By the end of GoT, King Crow was more battle-hardened and capable enough to hold his own in a melee, but in a class of the greats? Nope.
Go and rewatch Ser Arthur Dayne's fight versus Eddard Stark and his retainers. That's a Great Swordsman looks like.
Barrywhyte1: The way you guys disrespect Jon snow is crazy.
Dude has the best feats of all of them if you ask me.
Only Jaime Lannister I'd rate higher than him.
Remember when Ramsay said "the way northern people talk about you bastard, it's like you're the greatest swordman that's ever lived".
Dude had a growing reputation in westeros already.
What "growing reputation"? GOT is over. Nothing is growing anywhere.
Jon Snow was a great, honorable man, a true "son" of the great Ned. He was a wonderful leader, and one of the bravest men Westeros had even seen. But honor and bravery is not the same as swordsmanship, not matter how much we wish it.
At his prime, the greatest foes Jon faced where his poorly trained black brothers, even worse poorly trained wildlings, and white walkers - and he had valyrian steel which is complete cheat mode against white walkers.
The one real test of skill Jon faced was when he was younger against Qhorin Halfhand, and even Jon himself admits that Qhorin let him win. At that age, Jaime Lannister was already an established master swordsman and Barristan Selmy was already storming castles all by himself. Jon is a weak, weak comparison.
Ibunkun1: And I thought the dragons can feel the emotions of their riders because they were showing syrax when Rhaenyra was in Labour, like she was also feeling what Rhaenyra felt. But Vhagar no listen to Aemond when he was telling him to calm down before he chop arrax into pieces.
Dragons sometimes disregarding their riders' orders is an idea that was only introduced in the show; I believe it was first vaguely hinted at with Daenerys and Drogon in GoT before being fully explored here. I don't recall that ever happening in the source material (the books); there, Aemond expressly intended to kill Lucerys - because of a girl's taunts, no less! (Women have really been causing wars since time immemorial)
Ibunkun1: , that was what she was trying to avoid. But I think Aemond didn't mean to kill Lucerys, his taunting and naughtiness just got out of his control
The road to war is ALWAYS covered with acts and deeds that the instigators "didn't mean to".
Let this episode be an excellent lesson to everyone to thoroughly think of the possible consequences before taking high risk actions.
Monaboo: I'm beautiful. I'm 29yrs and I am not married.
The funny part is that, I am not even thinking about marriage atall. I don't even envy married people atall. I think I'm wired differently...
Wait till 40. It hits differently then, when one mostly likely would have achieved the main "bullet points" of one's career goals. And then one looks around and slowly starts wondering what all that stress was for. No gender escapes this mid-life crisis, but in truth it does hit women worse than men. You seem like a smart woman; you know what to do.
To tune down the argument, know your family tree very well before jumping into what's moral or not moral. The way Otto engraved his family name into history, very ruthless.
Engraved his name in history and brewed a civil war that ultimately had his own direct line killed off / die off. A perfect example of a second son that reached up too high. The Hightowers have been more sensible ever since - leave Targaryen politics to Targaryens.
Meanwhile... I really really wish they would stop all those weak references to "ice and fire" and "the prince that was promised" (especially when the original Game of Thrones unceremoniously killed off NK and ended all talks of promised princes!!). The HotD show is solid and strong on its own, with a good story and excellent actors; it does not need to keep making fake call-backs to GoT.
My thoughts: - Lord Dondarrion replenishing bodily fluids halfway through his "lecture"... Talk really is thirsty business And bonus shout-out to Blackwood and Bracken renewing their multigenerational feud. - The showdown in the throne room was flawless. - Enough bwess. - Daemon is playing a long game. - Poor Ser Criston. Hot breakfast loading. - Who is the "White Worm"? - If this was real life, King Aerys wouldn't last a year on the throne. He really needed Rhaenyra to point out the vulture in the room? - Lord Otto finally overplayed his hand (no pun intended, lol)... And yet I feel like he did it deliberately - like he knew exactly what to expect from King Aerys. Now why would such a powerful man DELIBERATELY get himself fired from his job? Mmmmm.
I can't count how many times I had to rewind just to rewatch a scene or listen to a dialogue again. I am going to rewatch this episode last thing before going to bed tonight.
At the beginning of the episode when I noticed the obvious time-jump from where E02 left off, I almost felt a certain way... But I must say, that feeling of disappointment didn't last very long at all. 10mins into the episode and I had forgotten all about it.
I will miss the actress playing young Rhaenyra, she's so freaking good. Hopefully, the lady who takes over does an equally better job at interpreting the role.
Matt Smith as Daemon, exceptional! I look at him and for a minute, I actually forget that he is just acting the part. His interpretation is superb and on point.
Fully concur on all.
I'd seen Matt Smith in Morbius, he was good there but I never forsaw his near-perfect depiction of Prince Daemon.
I'd assumed they'll just age up Emma D'Arcy Milly Alcock (Rhaenyra) as the series progresses. Chances are the show runners intend to milk the Dance of Dragonscivil war story for at least five seasons, so the actors/actresses will have time to "mature".
Edit: I was severely disappointed by how GOT ended so I pointedly ignored HotD production and cast news. Hence my ignorance on young/older Rhaenyra.
