sammieblaize:Perhaps you should have said I'm in... |
I think your topic says it all - the movie was purely for entertainment - no need to go into all that about religion and stuff. The internet is there for anyone who wants to know the true-true. The sad fact is 90% of Nigerians (even the so-called educated ones) will most like react with derision if they saw a black Moses. So dont blame it all on Hollywood, they are just feeding us what we want - we who should know better. And hey, while we are at it, I didn't hear anyone (=non-Caucasian) complain when Idris Elba was cast as Heimdall in Thor. |
ApexTitan:Perhaps he means that all stories are made up, but some are more made up than others. ![]() |

I dunno o... I was VERY inquisitive as a kid (even into my teens; thank God for google now!) not so sure some of your suggestions would have worked with me. Whenever I asked an adult a question back then, I expected an informed answer - or failing that, then a truthful one at least. Take for instance, if it was me asked you if sugar will be sweet in food and you replied "of course dear", I'll be very likely to sneak out a few cubes and put em in my soup that night. |
gifttracy:So, umm, does this mean you drink orijin too? |
chimkaire:Madam, this is not a game. The only thing following your advice will achieve is prove that his wife is smarter by "snooping" him out, and then put him on the defensive - and this man is supposed to be a manager or something, it's very likely he makes a lot more than the wife does, so I bet he won't react well to being shamed. So, if you really believe that outsmarting your spouse is the best way to handle marriage issues, then I'm very sorry you. |
Oh, just seen some else had created same topic awhile ago. Mods, please feel free to close this one. |
President Goodluck Jonathan has directed that a $500 million oil and gas investment project be relocated from LADOL Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Lagos to Agga in Bayelsa State, The Nation learnt yesterday. The project is a partnership between LADOL Integrated Logistics Enterprise and Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea. The two companies are to build fabrication and integration yards for Egina Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility for the use of local and foreign-owned oil companies. The multi-million dollar project is in phases, and billed to be completed in the next five years. The project is said to have reached an “advanced stage” before Jonathan issued a directive that it should be relocated. The directive, contained in two letters dated April 27, was signed by Mr A.B Mohammed, a general manager with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). Mohammed signed the letters on behalf of the NPA Managing Director, Sanusi Ado Bayero, who is believed to be a stakeholder in Intel, an oil and gas logistics firm in Rivers State– an allegation he has denied in newspaper advertorials. The letters read: “Pleased be informed that Mr President has vide PRES/99/MT/2/22 of April 20 approved the FPSO project be relocated to Agga in Bayelsa State when the facilities to handle such operations are developed. “In addition, the project can be conveniently located at any designated oil and gas terminal. Please be informed that Mr President has approved, henceforth, all oil and gas related cargoes must be handled only in the designated terminals in Onne, Warri and Calabar Ports. The letters added: “In view of this, vessels coming to Nigeria with oil and gas related cargoes, excluding petroleum products, are advised to first go to the appropriate concessioned terminals to be cleared by Customs and other relevant authorities, terminal operators and shipping firms.” The Managing Director, LADOL Integrated Logistics Enterprise, Dr Amy Jayesinmi, said the timing of the letters was wrong. She said the directive was ill-conceived, and capable of destroying the gains made by the partners in the project. She said the directive to relocate the project to Bayelsa was part of efforts to destroy the potential local operators who are bent on deepening their participation in the oil and gas sector. She said the letter was diversionary in content, advising stakeholders not to allow their attention to be distracted. Mrs. Jayesinmi said efforts were being made by oil and gas operators to build one of the biggest floating vessels in the world, as well as making Nigeria the oil and gas hub in West Africa, adding that nothing would frustrate that efforts. She added: “We got the two letters the same day: a day after the appointment of the new MD of NPA. I want to make it clear that we (LADOL) do not have problems with NPA because they are using our facility. “NPA has an office in LADOL Free Trade Zone. NPA had severally said LADOL is the largest private investor in its facility. By the end of 2017, LADOL would have invested $500million in NPA facility. Technically, it is not appropriate for the project to be relocated to Bayelsa, the President’s home state.’’ Source: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/jonathan-orders-500m-oil-project-moved-from-lagos/ |

gj22:I really thought I was through with this Ned Stark argument... Ok, I think our problems lies in our definition of "foolish"; what you think of as "the right way" is actually what I think is the foolish way. How can you keep playing fair when your opponents are so crooked and malevolent, and still hope to win? You just can't! Its either you bend your rules, or you lose - or the less walked road, you resign and go home. Remember what Maester Aemon said to Jon Snow right after he was made Lord Commander: It is time to kill the boy and let the man be born. Although in the books, this was actually said to Aegon V a.k.a the Egg. So that's what I mean by Ned was foolish. Yes, of course, he did the "right thing", but was it the wise thing? He'd stepped up to the Iron Throne in Robert's stead and meted out the King's justice on Gregor Clegane (a.k.a the Mountain) who was ravaging the Riverlands bordering the Westerlands; this was right after fighting Jaime Lannister, thereby further incurring Tywins wrath. And then he turned around and further weakened his own position by gifting Cercei with the secret he knew. Naturally Cercei (who knew what Robert would do when he finds out) acted first and got Robert poisoned, leaving our dear Ned with nothing but a powerless letter to fight with. The rest, as they say, na story for the gods. Look guys, nobody is arguing that Ned was not an honorable man. He was. He was a good man, and he was loved and respected for it. But he was singularly unsuited to dealing with power-drunk Lords like the Lannisters. Honor is an admirable trait, but sometimes it is wiser to be hard and harsh. What Ned chose to do was not wise, it was foolish. ….and nobody should drag me back to this argument again. ![]() |
Akanniade:Very funny. ![]() Ok, ask me nicely... |
Gbola5:It seems more like an unending cycle to me, like the long night comes once a every millennia or there about. Well, unending as long as a hero keeps arising with "lightbringer" to defeat the walkers. If ever he fails to show up, then game over for the world. Or perhaps sooner or later, as long as the cold reigns, a hero of light will arise. In which case it is indeed an unending cycle. damn. |
ApexTitan:I assume you mean the long winter... I prefer to look at it from a pseudo-realistic point of view. Think ice ages. I would think it would start from from the North, then spread southwards, as long as whatever force is driving it remains active. Now, as we know, GRRM was deliberately unclear on whether it was the Others bringing the cold, or the cold bringing the Others. But either way, I think the further the White Walkers (and wights?) advance, the greater the reach of the long winter. But if I am right, then this brings another interesting point... Assuming the true (reborn) Azor Ahai doesn't come, and the Others beat the Night's Watch back to the Wall, what then? Can they scale the Wall? Coldhands couldn't pass the gate at Nightfort; does this mean the Walkers will not be able to pass through the gates of Castle Black? Mmmm... So interesting! GRRM please finish the WoW already!! ![]() |
Otobroto:I usually just come to this section of the forum to browse and read and maybe have a good laugh or two, but I'll make an exception today. My dear, who do you hope to marry, the guy or "societal perception"? The most important thing (in my opinion anyway) is that the man loves you and wants you and accepts you for who you are. Society can go think whatever it wants! How many suitable suitors has it provided for you by the way? The only problem i can foresee is that you - the woman - will most probably develop feelings of insecurity... what if he dumps me tomorrow, stuff like that. But if you can handle it - if you are confident in your own skin and honest with the young man and he's absolutely ok with it, then Society can go shove its so-called perception up where the sun don't shine. #my2cents |
Gbola5:I don't know how many different ways I can say this before you get it: Honor did not get Ned Stark killed; his lapse of judgement did. He made a decision based on emotion. He thought he was being merciful to Cercei's children. And it was a foolish decision. Whew! If you still don't get it, I don't think there'll be any other way of explaining it. |
I don't see the point in those questions... How will my answers to them show that Ned did the sensible thing by spilling his beans to his own enemy? |
Gbola5: Gbola5:Mmm, well your opinions are yours to have. Support Renly? Ned wasn't even in support of Stannis. My view is that Ned Stark midjudged how dangerous and high risk the game he was playing was. You cannot afford to let your emotions interfere with your decisions in such a serious position - and that was what Ned did. Starks don't do that - they did not become the most feared Lords in the North by doing that. I think it was a momentary lapse in judgement by Ned; he had shown many times before that he was not afraid of making harsh decisions when it was needed. Sadly it was the mistake that would cost him his life. |
Gbola5:You recapture him?? You watch him escape first, then recapture him later?? Guy, please don't take this the wrong way, but you're probably more foolish than Ned Stark o. |
By the way Gbola5, that long epistle you wrote up there na beautiful sermon on the mount, abeg. Rules ko, regulations ni. The real reason Ned did what he did - play his hand too early and spill the secrets he knew to his own worst enemy - the real reason he did it was to protect the children. Our honorable Hand couldn't bear to have the blood of the incest-born Jeoffrey, Mycerlla and Tommen on his hands. And so he spilled his best cards in the Game of Thrones to their mother, his own worst enemy, Cercei. |
ApexTitan:Sorry mate, you quoted me while I was modifying. But yes, he was indeed a fool - his honor notwithstanding. |
Gbola5:Nope. Me and a bunch of other guys trashed out the "Was Ned Stark A Fool?" conundrum years ago... But it certainly didn't take us this many words. If you must know though, Ned Stark was indeed a fool - a brave, strong, honest, and honorable fool. See, I'm a practical man and I'll give you a practical example. Imagine you happen to capture Shekau of Boko Haram but he suddenly escapes... You have a gun in your hands as you watch him get away, but you don't pump him full of bullets because it is actually against the law to shoot an unarmed man. And so you let Shekau the leader of Boko Haram to escape. Please tell me, are you a fool or not? |
^^^ Wow... Did anybody read all that? |
You never explained exactly what it is you do/say on social network(s) that he dislikes, but I'll let it slide. My own observation is that you agree that he is right - that you should cut out out social networks, or whatever. But that leads me to another question... So what exactly are you now doing here telling us about it?? Or isn't NL on the banned list? What happens when he sees this thread opened on your phone?? |
Gbola5:Dude, are you aware of how much you're beginning to sound like some spoilt petulant child crying foul because the other kids won't play by his own rules? Barristan Selmy is dead, Jorah Mormont has greyscale, and the Sons of the Harpy are super fighting samurai-ninjas. Live with it. Hopefully, soon Jaime Lannister and Bronn the sellsword and Dolorous Edd and Stannis Baratheon and Melisandre will all die too (and maybe Rickon Stark too, cos hey who likes a noisy brat?). And then you will have enough reasons to shout "death for shock value!" and tear your eyes out. |
funshiba:My brother tell them o! And yet some folks will still say its a lie... I don't know why some people think "knowledge" and "science" is absolute. The woman in OP's tale could very well be saying the truth - and the post quoted above has just lent credence to her tale. Don't be so quick to condemn or shout "Impossible". As for those saying the man should go and do another genotype test, I can't help but wonder at their reading and comprehension skills - is that una no read where OP said they've done the tests severally and in different places?? I tire o. |
I don't understand... You said you've met his family and a number of his friends. Forgive me but didn't he introduce you to these people when you were meeting them? |
vfactor:I agree. Both himself and the wife, in fact. But mehn, he needs to be careful and really wise here - what if the wife is telling the truth? I must be honest here though, from my limited knowledge of these things it is IMPOSSIBLE for a carrier and a non-carrier to produce a sickler - Mendel's laws of genetics would have to be rewritten. But you know what they say, never say never. Now that I think of it, the gender of a foetus is dependent on similar genetic laws: the man gives one from his (xy) and the woman gives one from her (xx), so the offspring is either (xx) x-from dad and x-from mum, or (xy) y-from dad and x-from mum. But every once in a crazy while, an (xxy) or something weird like that is produced, and that's how you get hermaphrodites. So... oga needs to be careful with his decision. By the way, has the woman ever given him cause to doubt her fidelity? One doesnt just throw away a 10-yr-old marriage like that. |
mabeni:Make una try dey check spelling small abeg... I was just wondering which Jamaican movie that is about a world cup. ![]() Please its Third World Cop... cop, as in policeman, mopol, eke, the po-po... |
