The best he can do is to use the domestic policies debate to make the points he left out about the economy. Luckily for him, this month's jobs report is looking good, unemployment is down to 7.8% .

Mitt Romney stunned him with his transformed self and new agenda but BO should have anticipated all that. I'm sure he's learnt his lesson and will come out firing in 2 weeks.

For a lot of other people, their love for him was not just sentimental, it was based on what he would do to give them a better life or at least give them a shot at it. Romney has already condemned people who can't get a head start in life. The differences in their policies are clear (except that Romney was trying to create some artificial overlap just ystdy).
Romney is bad news for middle class families and other lower income earners (98% of Americans).

You know, the scary thing is with the undecided voters, like one of them on this thread who has already been convinced by Romney's overnight new stands and policies. Romney was already on his way down and we all expected Obama to deal him the knockout punch but instead he gave him a lifeline by letting him talk and get away with a lot of things, now he looks like a genuine contender in the race.

Freiburger: What else has Romney got to say in the next 2 debates appart from the economy and jobs that he capitalized on yesterday? I think he just layed all his eggs in one basket. The the issues of the 47% lazy Americans is still yets to come, at least he released his 13% tax rate he paid, while some middle class familes with an annual income of ca $200,000 are being taxed as much as 25%.

True, he may not have it so easy on the "Domestic and Foreign policy" debate but as long as he keeps his plans secret, he still has an edge. He won yesterday because he had a lot of 'new' things to talk about, untested plans that sound good to the ears but may not work, and had enough room to attack the president's already known plans. Obama couldn't attack his plans in the same way understandably but what surprised a lot of people was that Obama didn't even defend his own policies and achievements like he should have.

With 5 weeks to go ? This is no last minute 'throw-out-the-attack' plan, D. Axelrod was trying so hard to sound confident and in control of the situation yesterday but it was obvious he was trying to sugar coat the loss not to make it look so bad.

This is the debate where the points should have been made, the economy is of utmost importance to most people and once swing voters make up their minds, it may be too late to change it.

Obama and the Dems need to restrategize, this Romney na potential disaster, I don't trust him at all.

Romney did very well but it all boils down to differences in each candidate's proposals for the American people

That's why 60 million Americans tuned in to watch and Obama went to sleep at the crucial moment.

Romney was making statements like xx million people are out of job and the middle class is being crushed. Obama didn't counter with his jobs record, he did a little by pointing out tax cuts for working families but the American people wanted to hear more from him and he left a lot of people disappointed tonight.

It doesn't take much to sway the mind of fickle-minded voters.

CyberG: ATTENTION: For those who are just hearing about Romney's positions today, UNDERSTAND that he just changed those positions to appear as "moderate". This guy NEVER had these positions to come through his party primaries while debating among his conservative co-aspirants and appealing to their republican "base". However, he has SHIFTED so much and close to Obama's position on many issues, even the analysts and citizens noticed that and commented after the debate. BOTTOMLINE: Romney will say and do anything NOW to get elected! So rightly, Obama asked: Are these plans you talk about SO GOOD that you are unable to tell Americans what EXACTLY they are? Hope none of you is fooled by the flip-flopping, 47% dissing Romney. The comments he made in private are a VERY accurate portrayal of his real thought towards the people since he thought the public would NEVER see or hear it. Today, he knows people are listening and had to say anything to deceive you.

Changing positions makes him a slippery fish who you cant pin to a particular policy. 98% of what he said today were new to me. Its hard for you to attack him in that way and its frustrating when you try to get him to address a policy he favours and he says "that's not my plan". Pinning him to something he said to the press and attacking him on that basis would amount to mud-slinging which I'm sure Obama didn't want to get into.
Romney, as the challenger had the freedom to attack with no holds barred but I still think Obama was a bit too timid tonight.
