Folly when u dey come home?i dey house dey wait jare as your # no connect. . If you can get in Chelsea's face and crawl all over them(something Arsenal can never do),chances there are, that they will come undone. F uck must be the easiest word to learn in English,Ivanovic sef dey scream obsenities. Chavs, how market ![]() |
We really have a way long way to go. . . . . .just finished watching Citeh and Chelsea match, and if we have done 50% of what Citeh did against Chelsea last week,we wouldn't be talking about been trounced. Be in your opponent's face, fight for every 50/50 ball.Get stuck in.Don't get bullied and shy away from physical challenge.Did anyone see how De Jong made Essien looks like the bison title is his? Can City please loan us Kompany for the period Song will e in Angola? OR can we get Flamoney back for that period Now we are "potentially" 5 points of Chelsea and make i keep quiet before the mobs lynch me for jumpy assertions ![]() Wasn't it Ritchy talking about the possiilities of this yesterday and Nateevs making a vitiated rebuttal? |
I don't know which should be termed the 8th wonder of the world;the way we keep raking up injuries OR how our players conspire to miss golden scoring opportunities. One good thing though,we were not made to rue the missed chances.I was surprised too that we did not conceed any goal from set-pieces. . . Ok,Vela is the reason we did not replace Ade and he is not GOOD ENOUGH to be considered for a starting role even when we were stripped to the barest ![]() Yes,AA23 reveled in the rare opportunity to play centrally,BUT i still feel he makes too many touches to be a point man.Never mind the fact that he's pint size to trouble any defence aerially. It's good to be back on track after armaggedon, also refreshing is the fact that we did not conceed ANY goal nor crack against a physically dominating team, but there are still many issues and like Wenger opined, champions continue when normal people stop' ![]() See y'all in Anfield(the Olympiakos game is a non-game as far as i am concerned) and this is to our first 3 points against a top 4 team and the return of our midfield marshal,Alex Song.Of course Denilson is not a defensive midfielder who can do the job in his absence. Gooners para siempre. ![]() biolabee:If he can hold his nerve to score the last penalty that took Spain to the final in a match against Italy during the last Euro, then he has the right to step and take the kick. It's 50-50 situation and unfortunately,he missed, just like great players like Platini,Baggio did miss at one point or the other during their career. And Ade scored against Given ![]() |
So fans of an irascible and peevish sod-like coach in the person of Ferguson can still have the effrontery to yab someone of being petulant? I laugh in obertan. So we lost to Man City expectedly(at least from my own point of view) and it's the end of the world. How many of us here can lay claim to expecting a victory anyway , not when we have a team short of experience, confidence and "winning aura" AGAINST a team that has actually mauled our "first team" earlier in the season.Myles P rightly summed it all up here:City skipper Kolo Toure's 326 Arsenal's games are far more than the total appearances of the whole Arsenal team he faced last night. No wonder Citeh walked it. The good news from yesterday's loss is,Arsenal has been known to go on a "winning streak"(that's if you see those boring draws of last season as 1-point gained rather than 2-point dropped) after any loss to Kuwait Citeh. So gooners,it's good news yesterday's loss init? ![]() Seriously now, since that terrilbe gaffe of leaving Arshavin out of the game against the chavs in the FA CUP S/F last season,i think Wenger has being taking too much of the hatorade. 1stly,since he knew before the closure of the transfer window that Djorou was out for most past of last season, why not go get a CD? As it is,we need not a soothsayer to tell us that Senderos is definately not in his plan and Silvestre,oh Silvestre. . . ![]() In the game against SL,Williams Gallas had no reason playing if we have a capable replacement, since dude already had an energy sapping period with his national team. The implication was a "serious" face-jury and a knock to his ankle. And of course no period of rest till the game against Chelsea at the Emirate.Of course you can wave this off as negligible factors, but then who knows? FFS,why use Song yesterday as a CB when we know we will play a physically strong Stoke at the weekend? Will this have happened if we have a good CB replacement? Now dude is out of the Stoke game and i can only wonder what answer we will have when a physical-game inebriated Stoke come calling on Sat.Denilson-Fab-Ramsey against Stokes. . . Enough said already on this man and his many policies which he sticks to rigidly,no matter whose nerves is frayed. It's not the end of the season,so i will sheath my sword for now,as i believe strongly, something can still be salvaged. Still supporting the red and white army cause. ![]() |
amarilo:We can keep things civil here bro and since edoyad already acceeded to his culpability by apologizing,i think you should let things be.Sometimes i wonder what is it with e-aggression. To all those who think pointing out the lapses in this team is a pointer to not keeping faith,i laugh in Traore.Does anyone really feel we threatened Chelsea yesterday? BTW,is it me or did anyone see how Traore bounced meters away frm Drogba when he made a challenge on him? Jeez!To the ManCity game, since we always go on a winning streak after a loss to City,i will expect ![]() Still the read and white army! |
debosky:I can take a loss but not humiliation especially when it is against a team like Chelsea. If 7 goals conceeded on our turf is not a disgrace, then pray tell what is? The key is to minimise the points dropped overall, not hoping for some bragging rights victory - we had those last season and still ended up with nothing. Utd was the poorest in the head to head standings in the top 4 but still won the league - that is a pertinent observation folks will do well to note.It will be more than bragging rights victory if we have won today. The first goal went in and my mind tells me,we have lost. This goes a long way to tell you where AFC is now.And as per head to head standings in top 4,are Sunderland and Westham in top 4?I have seen more of the same in the last 4 years to know this team lacks consistency. I am not wishing away our deficiencies on the day but have clearly stated them - poor delivery from wide areas and poor penetration via passing moves. We were totally clueless and predictable.Enough said. Now we're a team that fizzles out against top opposition? I will take that if we beat all the teams beneath us - if we can do that we will win the league. We had good wins against Chelski and Utd in the early part of last season and where did it get us?And since we beat Chelsea at the Bridge which other big games have we won? This team seems to lose nerves when it matters most and i am too emotionally sapped right now to start giving references. I am just trying to get perspective here - we have lost points and it is painful. That said we need to critically examine what we need to do to win the league and leave emotions behind. One win and one loss against Utd in the league didn't win it for us, neither did two draws against Liverpool nor one win and one loss against Chelski. It's not even the losses per se but the manner in which we seem to pave way when push comes to shove.I'm not saying it's apocalypse but it WILL be if we don't turn possession into results. Do you have any info on why Song was removed? |
@Kay-pumpin Let us not deceive ourselves my broda. Obasanjo is likelier to rule the US before he dies than Arsenal winning the league our injury roster only adds credence to that point! Its not like Chelsea or Utd won't slip up its more of would Arsenal take advantage? God help us if Verma or Gallas suffer long term injuries
Chelsea beat us today without breaking a sweat i.e they just know what to do,how to do it and when to do it while we on the other hand, kept on playing as if we put the less in clueless.BTW,did Song get injured? The title is Chelsea's to lose. There i said it ![]() |
edoyad:The last time i checked Man U has won 3 league titles at a stretch and a UCL title so i don't understand this comparison at all. ![]() |
If 7 goals conceeded against one of your fiercest rival in the last 2 home games against them is not an indication of their superiority over you then i don't know what is?As if admitting it will KILL us. And what's all this talk about the scores not been a true reflection of the match it was what we said when we played against Chelsea during the carling cup final, same thing FA CUP S/F,even at the last but one game at the Emirate. . .Jeez!Isn't it obvious we should seek a panacea to this menace called Chelsea rather make excuses all the time ![]() I do not think the title race is over as nothing is won in November, but this loss just pushed us down the table,11 points off the leader(albeit with a game in hand) and exposed one of our soft under-bellies,this team fizzles out against top oppositions(the UCL S/F againt Man U readily comes to mind). |
Match is yet to start and it's already on 5 pages. . . AMAZING! otokx:May the home team win today ![]() |
debosky:I understood you very well mate. . . only affirming what you said. ![]() I am not sure of so many things but one thing i am sure of is,the game WILL not end in a score-less draw. ![]() |
Wenger better stick to 4-2-3-1 with specific instructions to Denilson and Song not to get carried away.
These 2 are the type of players that barely get carried away. They are both disciplined and i am so happy Diaby(Mr.Give-away-possession-unnecesarily) is not in the midfield.I expect a tough midfield battle and make bold to say it is one of the major KEY to the outcome of Sunday's match. Walcott WILL start. The more i think about it, the more i am convinced.Walcott WILL start is different from him getting the central position.I will prefer him to start as a sub though from the flank. I am not a fan of pacy players(Walcott,Lennon et al).I can make do with Ashley Young(cos of his freekick ability) and SWP(cos he's got a technical ability to his own pace) He will be eager to change that rotten luck.I hope so abeg.It is due time. I hope the one that decimated Everton at the start of the season turns up.Though Chelsea are a different proposition,if the Chelsea that played against Wigan turns up,we are at a GO. |
Damn i need to starting hating football as what's gonna happen on Sunday is an OD. The Liverpool derby,London derby and El Classico all in one day. No day can be cooler. |
@ Debosky & Kay_Pumping, 4-3-3 will be suicidal. Without Van Persie/Clichy, 4-4-2 is not feasible. Wenger should go 4-2-3-1. 2 defensive midfielders in Song and Denilson shielding the back four. Rosicky, Cesc and Arshavin supporting Eduardo(lone striker).
I think i read somewhere(can't remember where now) that Adams claimed that Wenger indicated to him that we are not playing 4-3-3,but a variation of it,which i think 4-2-3-1 is one. That said,we can discuss the formation to be played from now till eternity but i still feel it is the way the lads bring themselves into the game and into the formation that matters.4-3-3 is not a static formation, the reason you need hardworking and dynamic players to make the most of it. . i think Arsenal is still a team getting to adapt to the formation and it's the reason RVP's injury is such a painful one. Ibime:When did fear and become a synonym for ojective analysis? It's going to be a tough match on Sunday and i am sure even your fellow chavs can't come out and write Arsenal off. . . do that at your own peril. debosky:Plus Nasri is one player that i noticed always justify his inclusion when he's playing at the Groove. That aside,we need players who can shield the ball and hold thier own against the aggressive Chavs and Nasri does that well. His incisive passes and ability to shoot also comes in handy. I wouldn't change our formation for Chelski - we cannot play successfully in one pattern all season and now change for Chelski - they are not that good IMO. As long as we sort out our front line out we will be fine. I don't think the battle will be won/lost in midfield, it will be decided in the attackig positions. Chelski have lots of ability with Lamps, DD and Anelka, we are a bit shaky there but still we have AA23 and any of Vela, Dudu, Rozzi and Nasri that Wenger decides to play. The battle will be won/lost in all department of the field thus we can't afford any slip up.Of concern also is the left side of our defence in which we will be playing with our 3rd choice defender.Arshavin is not one to help defensively so much and he will be playing in that flank with Traore.Good though, Denilson is back and he will be key in reducing the space and helping in that regard. Wenger says Gallas is a 'big question mark' (Gallas is a fighter. He will play definately.I wondered why he was played against Liege though,he should have been rested.
If it happens that way, i have no complaints. Wenger won't start Vela against Chelsea. He might start Walcott though cos his place in the World Cup squad is under serious threat. Capello will be at the Emirates so i expect Walcott to play a part.
Walcott will NEVER be given that position against Chelsea.Wetin concern Wenger and Capello.I expect either of Dudu and Vela to start and any of them can do the job if supplied with good passes. BTW,I don't want Walcott starting abeg, the last 2 times he's scored againt the Chavs,we lost. ![]() Just beat Chelsea. I don't care if it's 1-0, 0.2-0, 0.8-0.I don't know what to make of the scores or the outcome as i am apprehensive about which Arsenal team will turn up.The one that played Man U off the park at OT and was only unlucky to lose,OR the one that played the last EPL match cluelessly.Fingers crossed. |
@debosky At this point i seriously would not mind a Chamakh. I still insist and have always insisted we where short upfront even before RVP's injury.
It's become perilous because the injury angel just had to visit both our 1st and 2nd choice for the central position in the attack.I think we've rather been unfortunate it has to be the two of them at the same time.I hope Wenger buys an attacker in January though,be it Chamakh or the "new Henry". I strongly advise against 4-3-3 against the Chavs i just don't believe that formation would work against em because that midfield is where the game would be won and lost and how a 4-3-3 formation would win that midfield for us remains to be seen.So what formation do you reckon that we should play? 4-4-2 will make our midfield light and defence porous whilst 4-5-1 was the same formation we used against the chavs during the FA cup S/F last season that made us immobile.I do not believe we should alter our formation as we did then.I feel the game is more of how ready our lads are ready to up their game on the day.If Cesc,Song,Gallas,Vermaleen and Arshavin raise their game on the day, then we are at a GO. if there's anything the Sunderland game has taught me its the fact that Rozzy and Nasri are not forwards and therefore would most likely lack the penetrative and goal scoring ability or goal scoring threat of a forward and therefore might be counter-productive in these sort of matchesRossi played the same role earlier this season and was in blistering form especially against S.Liege in Belgium.Nasri too, against the 'pools and he was above average. The Sunderland game is a one off in which, except for few of the lads, the rest were not just up for it. My fear for this game is even our aerial disability in the attack.None of our forwards have the presence to worry or disturb any of their defender aerially so we are left an option of running at them and making decisive and incisive passes that can unlock their defence.I am waiting to see how the match pans out as a loss will be terrible as it means we are losing ground with teams in front of us and Spuds catching/closing up with us(if they win or draw). I do not like any of the 2 situations at all. |

I can stake my NL id that Bayern will qualify by eating Juve in Turin. This Juve team just keep dissapointing me with each passing match. When they procured Melo and Diego in the summer,i felt they were on their road to greater things this season(i'd wager they will end Inter's claim to the scudetto). . .but then. . .their performance in Serie A is epileptic and in UCL,they just seem so average with all the good players they have. Bayern is STILL in with a shout if they can raise their game a notch. |

dayokanu:This! ![]() I have never been a Mourinho fan as i am one for manager that doesn't stiffen his team.Save for his stint at Porto in which it's team played attacking football, his time at Chelsea(inspite of the fact that it's trohy laden) did not bring footall that is pleasing to the eyes.Same at Inter. And to think he was once an asst. coach @ Barca. He is one to charge and fire up his players up and make them want to die for him thus bringing the best out of them.Therein lies his forte. But then who can fault a coach that has the league in 3 countries? Is he over-rated?Of course no because his CV projects him as a successful coach. Is he the special one? Hell no!Maybe the lucky one. ![]() BTW,I hate the fact he always fighting for front-page news with players. ![]() |
You nervously walk alone! Europa league it is.Damn! |
My only worry,Gibbs seems to have copped an injury towards the end of the match. Can he return for Sunday?Fingers crossed. Nice game all in all though we took out foot off the pedal towards the end but then what team wouldn't? MOTM:Song, did not put a foot wrong all game. |

Wenger must not be trusting Silvestre and Senderos,i was hoping to see Gallas rested. And Song too. . . ![]() |
No rhythm,no cohesion and our creative players JUST refused to play. ![]() I was wondering what Rosicky and Ramsey were doing for so long on the field when it was so obvious they were unwilling tools. Save for Song and Cesc ,there was no driving force and the other attacking players players just seem clueless. And must we play 4-3-3 even when it seems the lads on the field are not operating in the realm of the formation? Eduardo(you should have buried that chance in the first half dude) seemed so isolated upfront and we lacked width all through. We need to recover quick as Liege cometh soonest like a thief at night and they must feel the backlash. |
