Constrained by money and time, the best bet is to consolidate his base while he works behind the scenes to get independent votes in the South. Compared to 2003/2007, he has improved on his strategy and using his strenghts greatly. Even Barack did not win in all states based on the fact that you can't change perception and voters mind with all the money in the world. The best you can do is focus and not alienate your base. If we were talking about popular votes and numbers, he would be leading, it only gets tricky because of the 1/3rd constitutional requirement. I don't think it is faulty, its a resource issue and based on what he has, he has done well |
naijangel7:And this are for presidential race, only God knows the peeps running for states. But please don't lose hope. Lot of work to be done to make things better. Nice job publicizing the #whataboutus here on NL |
I get confused after every debate, and I just realized there is no messiah for 2011. Even a look on Nairaland will show great ideas that can change our nation. What I have to think about is how to effect change without this folks. ![]() |
Ribadu like Superman will do everything. I will do it, I will pursue it, ![]() |
Aisha please tell the time keeper/bell ringer to stop ringing the bell like a native doctor Just 2 strokes will do |
Sadly this men do not inspire, |
My fellow widows, Job security is using thugs and rascals for elections. |
I don't think voters need to know NN24, in fact the less unknown the better to avoid any issues of credibility. It is campaign season, any platform targets a particular demographic, today it was DSTV viewers, internet viewers, youths and Nigeria's upcoming middle class. With the data GEJ has at his disposal everyday, I feel he lost a chance to close the elections today by being absent. Do debates win an election? No! Debates are just one yardstick, folks still have to consider experience, performance and personal integrity before they make up their minds. |
I just noticed in all the campaign pictures, where are the women? ![]() |
A good name is worth is better than riches, even in our vain society. Folks cannot be fooled all the time and goodwill can be built through consistency of purpose and integrity over a period of time. |
it is more credible because this source is from deloitte(the external auditor of all english premier league clubs).
Haha! NP if that makes you happy. Again, your numbers only proves my arguments. This year we have slipped to 4th place because of Manchester City, lets wait till May to see if the numbers will reflect final table standings. @Duduspace You can't win with this folks, when peeps make their mind up about an issue they throw every objectivity to the wind, well done for always calling them out. Its a tough time to be an Arsenal fan. Depending on how they respond on Saturday, the season is not over yet. |
unlike you, i back my facts with credible links. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10249101
Haha! apparently more credible than the Clubs balance sheet. Find out what is on Arsenals balance sheet and then come back not BBC. Sorry I can't paste it but find out. |
dayokanu:Thanks! your numbers answers the argument, actually 08/09 for Arsenal was 111m, still lower. |
dayokanu:Yes! 2008/2009 & 2009/2010 Barcelona wage bill was higher than Real Madrids. Its funny you make your arguments but not mention Arsenal. Statistically, you attract the best players by paying more wages (Read the book: Soccernomics), so if Manchester is winning with lesser wages than Chelsea, why is Arsenal your problem, since they pay less? Blame those who should be at the top with their wage structures. Will everything go by stats? No! so once in a while you will have an outlier. Not making excuse for Wenger for not winning trophies, I think with what he has done. Arsenal has been punching above their weight the past 5 years. Simple! argue all you like, for a coach from Japan that is a big deal. |
Again for a limited time only I will be here to to argue for AW .I gave my stats yesterday for trophyless teams and am called a liar, the argument is against AW and should be based on his goals (League and CL) which my stats covers. Not some mickey mouse cup some where. Regarding Barcelona, they have graduated about 500 players since inception, in arguing with my numbers someone mentioned 50 players he knows which still adds to 10% smh, even a simple wiki site would confirm my numbers. @Dk I said wages not cost of players, for example Andy Carroll is the costliest English player but he is not the highest paid English player. Big difference! Arsenal is learning a new trade in developing players hence mistakes will be made. Even Ajax, Porto are better cos of experience. Meanwhile Dk, you support Bayern Munich why not Borrusia Dortmund? Your answer= Yes they win trophies! Which shows your hypocrisy because Bayern Munich is one of the best run club in Europe, do trophies bring better management or do better management bring trophies? You be the judge. Am not talking about a one hit wonder, this is the future and Mr. Wenger gave up his personal dreams to build that future. |
I respect anyone who chooses the difficult way to achieve their dream instead of short cuts. Mandela, MLK & AW haha! The Arsenal board decided they wanted to run a good club, hired AW and gave him a project. Which he is doing to his best. AW did not ask to build a stadium or look for kids around the world. AW is a purist, believes in his philosophy and in people so much (which is why he is getting all the heat). Comparing with Barcelona La Masia academy, what percentage of academy players qualify to the Barca senior team? About 10% since it was started, while Barcelona's system screens failures early and cut their loses early (even if sometimes they get it wrong), AWs system and belief allows them to be on the real team. When grooming young kids the failure rate is high. This season has shown, he is learning his mistakes and re-strategising his philosophy. Even AW wants to win. The best way to know if this works will be in the future 10-20 years from now. BTW the league statistics of winners shows that the club that pays higher wages wins the league, Arsenal has being at best 3rd or 4th in the past 5 years. Ask the higher earners if they have returned on their investments. This season Manchester City is number 1 on wages and you know they won't win. |
The problem with arguing for or against Arsenal trophy issue is that it is not even a tactical or statistical issue, it is a mixture of fate, team leadership and mental strength. You look at the numbers on the pitch and it doesn't match the reality. This season, for all the complaints against Arsenal defense, they are third best this season behind Chelsea and Manchester City. Have the best away record. 2nd highest scorers. Yes Mr. Wenger could have avoided issues by buying players but who says they won't be injured (Vermalen). No excuses for the lack of trophies but for a club of over 90 years, it is bound to happen at least let the little ones like Chelsea and Blackburn have something to show for themselves. The league is there for the taking but sadly everyone will drop points and if Arsenal wins, the argument will be "O! its because Chelsea or Man utd lost their form", Arsene and Arsenal won't get credit for it, it is that bad with the media and Dayo Kanu ![]() |
Here is a list of recent champions and their trophy drought but the media makes Arsene and Arsenal their object of obsession. Barcelona 1999-2005 (no single trophy) Inter Milan 1998-2006 Chelsea 2000-2005 Manchester United 1985-1990 (with Ferguson, no single trophy) Liverpool 1995-2001 & 2006-2011 They even could not qualify for Champions league , but with Arsenal FC the measuring stick is different. |
The board will not sack AW, simple as that, much like Everton will not sack Moyes. Unless he chooses to live, which is more likely if fans keep making useless noise. Arsene did not ask to build a stadium, it was the board that decided. I guess the question is, will Wenger live? AW believes in his philosophy, successful people must be believers. Merging Ajax and Barcelona youth development systems is not beans. Of course, their will be mistakes. Players will not measure up. The problem with this team is not a tactical problem, it is a psychological leadership issue and it will take time to make things happen. Barcelona 1999-2005 (no single trophy) Inter Milan 1998-2006 Chelsea 2000-2005 Manchester United 1985-1990 (with Ferguson, no single trophy) Liverpool 1995-2001 & 2006-2011 The season is not even over yet and peeps are making all their calculations. With 25 points out of a possible 30, Arsenal can still win the title this year, wait until May. |
lastpage:Dude it is okay to be frustrated with AW but stop lying with your conspiracy theories. AW has no single share in Arsenal FC, reason: because he decided he wanted to avoid any conflict of interest in doing his work. The board will not sack AW, simple as that much like Everton will not sack Moyes. Unless he chooses to live, which is more likely if fans keep making useless noise. Arsene did not ask to build a stadium, it was the board that decided. Here is a list of recent champions and their trophy drought but the media makes Arsene and Arsenal their object of obsession. I am an Arsenal fan because of AW, it is a lesson on life, belief and persistence. Whenever Wenger leaves whoever succeeds him even if it is Ranieri will win trophies, he has put in a lot for this clubs future, his work can only be measured by the future. Meanwhile, he believes so much in this boys but most have failed him, and that is the dilemma. |
Well abroad you deal with study alone, infact you can get loans for school. In Nigeria, you deal with cultism, PHCN, strikes, evil lecturers and inadequate facilities. You need tough skin to succeed. Plus you have AC or heater in your classrooms, most Nigeria schools have no windows in their hostels. Massive fearless rats and mosquitoes thrive all day. Its not a curriculum issue, it the other non-curricular issue which makes it tough. |
medjai:Really? the goal post keeps changing, up until the last game Arsenal had never beaten Barca, history serves a purpose to inform but it can be changed plus you sound scared, we have nothing to lose and RVP won't even play 90 minutes, so chill |
"Reduced the number of local government from 1000 to 301" Is this supposed to be bad? smh |
Funny Nigerians and our short term memory, Yakubu is the third highest scorer in Nigeria with 21 goals, he misses one and he is called useless? ![]() Blaming him does not take away the problems of the Super Eagles. Sad but true. I advice him to think of his passion and family first before thinking of the SE , rubbish! |
With 10 games to go (one more than Man Utd by tommorow), the magic number is 25/30 points for the trophy. It is achievable. |
@OP First of all, your title header is misleading. This news filtered in last week even before the Cup final ![]() That said, this is 6 months so don't rejoice yet. Its a tough business environment but with long runs in the CC, CL and FA cups, they will break even by June, although I expect profits to be lower this year because of extending contracts and increased wages. Except of course they reach the Semi Finals or finals of Champs league. I expect some fringe players sales in summer and experience replacements. The commercial territory is what Arsenal lags behind, this is where Bayern Munich is making a killing in Europe. We are tied to Emirates till 2014 due to stadum loans. Plus our shirt deal is lower than even Liverpool, and top 4 teams but until 2012, so the future looks bright. While Manchester United is high up there, our growth rate is reducing the gap every year and that is huge progress when you consider their brand power. |
ROSSIKE:True Ignore the title, this is based on websites not quality of education, read the link below. http://www.webometrics.info/best_practices.html |
Are this rankings not based on web presence rather than quality of education? |
The future is bright. It's just not the future yet. As a country, we need to work for the future we desire |
I feel the opposition parties are not structured to pass their message. It is a problem that makes PDP look so effective even with their blunders. Long term planning is something that is missing and sadly there are many Taofeeks. On another note, I don't believe analyzing EPL is a bad thing, I read even on NL, folks who have good knowledge of the game. Personally, it is an easier way for folks to learn about cultures. In the 90s, I watched weekly Rothmas soccer program and I learnt so much that I couldn't get in geography class. Even prompted me to study city history and rivalry between teams.(eg Rangers vs Celtics). EPL could stimulate your desire to learn more. |
@Jenifa Are you concerned about using tax payers money to save people? Or what? If so write and report to the Lagos government. Not everyone will get 7 million, and as a matter of fact not everyone goes abroad for treatments, some need money to be treated in Nigeria. This is not the first time Fashola or any other governor gets to do things like this. I don't know the intention of the OP of this thread whether to praise Fash, for me its all about saving a life. Regarding any discretionary account, I doubt any government publishes accounts online. There is no "sick people" fund account to apply to. My assertion on an account is purely based on the fact that he can't use his money all the time to save lives plus this is common accounting practice. If you have someone sick, help them by joining a group that has a voice and meet people by forming relationships. You can't do that on the web either emails or phone. At the end, there is no guarantee that the guy will come out alive, but this is a start and a relief for his family. @Ekoile You have made your point, you don't even need to add more |
