Something struck me now. I grew up in Abeokuta and there were claims that the Egbas conqured the Ijebus. which I later realized that the Ijebus in the claims were actually the Remos ( west of Ijebuland) and they were only able to do so as far as somewhere close to Isara, and area which is not even up to 30% of Remoland ( this was done to ward off marauders from Remo who were disturbing trade through the Ajebo route and Owode axis at the periphery of Egbaland) and over 50kms away from the closest Ijebu settlement. Minding that untill recently, Remo people used to be called Ijebu-Remo untill they stared claiming their autonomy from Ijebus. therefore looking at that would it not have been instructive to note that the same assumptions could have been made? Why is it that you may only sees strong similarities in some traditions only in the eastern Ondo state and not even in Ekiti state and none in Ijebuland , Egbaland and the rest of Yorubaland save Lagos? and the claim that Ijebus were conquered by Binis. Do you know that msot Yorubas don't even knbow whAT GOES ON IJEBULAND until after the whites conqurerd it in 1897 ? The palace rule, organization and heirachical stuture of Ijebulaqnd is different from that of the restof Yorubas and it is a facyt that You don't pass though Ijebu lkand in the olden days without you showing an evidence of a toll fee ? Please when you wanna say somethings concerning some people, the authenticity of the text must be checked. The most acclaimed book on Yoruba history and cultures written in the very early 1900s by the reverend the title of which I cannot remember now, does not even say much about the Ijebus but only stated that what he believes. So check the records well please but I must really commend you man! |
PhysicsQED: Look I'm not going to rehash this same argument with you again, but there are contemporary documents from centuries back and oral history and even some art that indicates very strongly that Benin at one time conquered Ijebu, but they were free of Benin's political hold by the mid 17th century. I gave you scholarly sources last time and you obviously looked at none of them. I'm not going to re-argue this since anyone who wants to can read about it from various non-Bini sources.Conquered Ijebu, when and how ? when even the Yorubas in the history cannot claim that at any time conquered any part of Ijebuland. Whatever history you must have read, especially on Ijebuland , that mentioned anything of such has actually a big doubt I have written evidences in my family vault dating back to around 1899 two years after the whites conquered ijebuland. Anyway, the history of Benin and Yoruba is so interwoven that the question which will see itself as the other would be inappropriate due to ethnic pride and chauvinism. It is beeter asked as do Yorubas and Edos see themselves as brothers, close relatives or as kindred ? however, me I will definitely say the Edos do not see themselves as Yorubas and Need not do. the same way in about 7-8 generations to come, your offsprings will jot see much relationship with each other and might even intermarry, work against each other and or pitch their tents with other families. |
I DARE ANY DOCTOR TO DISPROVE WHAT I;M SAYING. The level of the greed is so gargantuan that they are only concerned about pay , pay and pay . rather than work. An average doctor becomes jittery when he sees that you look better than him, i any ramification. that is why they don't see beyond the salaries. For God sake a fresh Doctor monthly earnings is what a Laboratory Scientist or A pharmacist will be earning after 9 nine years in service and they are still complaining ! Mind you, theLab Scientist or Pharmacists got admitted into university with thesame grades, spent a total of 5 or six years depending on the school before graduating same as that of a doctor yet the Doctors policies from the ministry of health is to place them about 4 years in grade level and even allowances about (100%) ahead of these people yet inspite of their grievances , and complaints laid before the government, you 'll hardly hear of strike actions from them. infact whenevr government yeild to their demands which is always smaller than that of the doctors, the doctor will commence a strike because the believe the pay is getting close!!!! Haba J'ama!! As much as it is becoming really disheartening and painfull ( the laid off), me thinks the govermnment is in the right frame of mid. Can you imaging your pastor or Imam , PHCN , police , military, fireman, going on Strike! DOCTORS these days not the profession ae just no different judging from their attitude from members of the NURTW ![]() |
Most people are in a job to earn a living . however there some sacred jobs/ profession that earning a living should be the tertiary issue and these professions include the Health professions which medical doctors are. With the recent strikes and attitude of Doctors before and these days, it is really doubtfull to ascertain whether ther professionals are NOBLE again. I wanna ask, when was the last time any other person in the health profession ( LAb scientists, pharmacists, nurses, anatomists, physiotherapists, community health officers/workers etc ) went on strike? Ask any of practisioners of these professions in the hospitals and they will tell you how greedy doctors are and to what extent they will go in making them look so insignificant in the administrations of health and more to putting bumps in the practise of their profession. All this was just to make other slook insignificant. What ha sthe Federal Doctors has to do with staet issues. MUST YOU WORK FOR AN ORGANIZATION. If you think you are appreciated and your employer says he cannot, then the noble thing to do is to leave. However since Doctors are not trained administrators and enterprenuers , they are useless without the government. The reason they will fight tooth and nail to remain in government. I D |

Whether Buhari said what they claimed he said or not. Any right thinking Nigeria staying in Nigeria should know that for real, he is saying the truth. This is not about endorsing violence, it has become so obvious that except we do things right which the PDP at this moment has what it takes to achieve,( I guess they are not gonna anyway). |
"Eku" does not have a direct translation in English. It cannot be said to mean only "Well". The sentence may mean as others have said Hope you are well sitted or antthing complementing you sitting down ( positively). Conversely, it may be a form of scorn for being idle, redundant , here the tone ofthe sentence matters. But I must say again that Eku does not have a direct meaning in English , and this is what really makes it convenient for Yorubas to greet or pay complement in any situation . |
People what you are seeing is what every human being in military uniform has gone through. this is irrespective of whether you are enterd from primary school, secondary school or graduate, This also irrespective of your profession lawyers to pharmacists doctors and even reverend father ! Trust me on this. it is called ............. Initially painful and as times goes on, you get used to it. Gentlemen , the military is no joke, the fact that you are seeing starched , good looking uniforms does not mean it is child's play. Some here say a lot of derogating things about the fitness and discipline of the Nigerian military as a whole, lets be guided that the when the challenge comes, they can rise to the challenge. Too much Hollywood is not good for the soul. Coolio said in the rap song gangsters paradise " too much television watching catch me chasing dreams". Whatever good and bad, the military is the pride of any nation, if you can spew dust about your supposed pride then i wonder what we really stand to gain from that . on the internet |
Questions. Is it lawful for a civil servant (police for that matter) to be involved in any private business. 2. Is it lawful for any member of the security agency to travel outside of this country without permission? i know it carries a dismissal punishment. 3. we know well that salaries of police has increased however, how did a police inspector have 2 million sum in his car?!! 4. There is a level of impunity that goes with the police job world over and worse than usual, in Nigeria the police guy would have behaved worse than is even being captured in this report. The brutality is uncalled for however, when arrest is to be made ( in this case, custom) and there is any resistance( and in this case the police inspector) the arrestor has all the right to use any means available to bring the suspect into custody. it is under this guise that brutality is meted on Nigerians day in and out including this offr. Long and short, based on the inspectors statemenr]t, he is supposed to be dismissed from the police and the customs offr needs to be reprimanded. |

It depends on the type of oil and the mlieage. Using a grade of 20w50 or there about an average of 2000- 2500km not miles is advseable. but if you can afford mobile 1 or total 7000 grade, then u may do oil and filter change between 6000- 8000km. that's what i've maintained and my engine has been with no problem for up to 9 years now. |
Is that what the Al-Qoaran says about Christianity ? ziccoit: Your God is a messenger of my God which I regarded as a prophet. Is Jesus not the God of Christians? |
I guess if we have more people like this in Nigeria, and realise the place of religion in governance then . Nigeria will be better of. A king in the old traditional society is hardly an adherent of any deity but is father to all. however will jot bring the issues of the Sango worshipper or Akoogun into governance , those are seperate. If we remove reliogion from our Governance , the society will be better. Ypu want to have a bhudist dressing at all times, then Find a bhuddist school, bank, hospital, roads, aircracfts, airports, university, cinema, supermarket,at your own expense. Same goes for other religions. HAba kilode ![]() haruna1970: WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT? THE CHRISTIANS BELIEVE ISLAM AND MUSLIMS ARE THE CORE PROBLEMS HAPPENING TO THIS COUNTRY, AND VICE-VERSA. WHY POINT ACCUSING FINGERS AT EACH OTHERS? WE HAVE MULTITUDES OF GLOBAL RELIGIONS. NEVER HEARD OF THEIR CONFLICTS. I BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT JUST BAN HIJAB, THAT IS TRIVIAL. THEY SHOULD JUST,IF NOT BANNED,AT LEAST REDUCED ALL RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES FROM THE PUBLIC. MY ANCESTORS LIVED WITHOUT THIS PROBLEMS. WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT IT TOO. THANKS. |
All devotees have the right to their religious wetin wetin. But i want to ask , do we have women in primary and secondary schools? ivoice247: Islam is our way of life. As a muslim, islam has taught us how to dress, eat, sleep, drink, fight, bath, how to perform marriages, naming ceremonies etc etc even sef, islam has taught us how to have sex with our partners in bed. So why should we listen to a mere common governor who doesn't know his position with GOD almighty, rather we'll obey our lord and submit to our religion which maintains that all girls that have reached the age of puberty and all women that have not yet reached menopause must wear a hijab when in public or when in the presence of men who are not part of their family. |
Qouestion, so the "christian God is not your God , are you really a muslim? ziccoit: Why can't you bring out the biblical verses that preaches the level of nudi.ty being displayed in the churches and everywhere by you people. The moment you lost it was when you rationalized the biblical messages thinking you are wiser than your God. All the mentioned ideologies above have a highly moral way of dressing that would surprise you if you try to find out.Honestly you are in bondage. Follow your bible in totality and you would be set free. |
like taking sacrament in government's funded schools, offices and establishments? ~Bluetooth: |
Who does it now favour and who's disadvantaged ? The truth here is both you Muslims and christians when you start bringing your religion into common living and Government, the society becomes degraded as we see now. Schoools for God sake are for now Government owned save the private ones. Then if you want to go govt schools , then they should adhere to governments dictates. Small time we'll start to looking for Muslim/Christians Doctors to treat people in respective religions. Or a muslim Doctor will start saying Aram for seeing the unclothedness of a non relative patient. Haba J'ama! Some things are just NEEDLESS just depicts one or a group or groups of people as having superiority complex. Why is everything is done in such a way to show that Islam is in competition? Must it always be like that ? My own take sha is remove religion sentiments and even ethnic sentiments from Government's business in Nigeria and see if Jesus Christ (SAW) and Prophet Mohammed (SAW) will not like being a Nigerian and prescribe our own clothings culture and language for the whole world. deols: obviously, you didnt get the point. That form of dressing was designed by who? Muslims? Christians?. It doesnt affect who? |
And if they don't have their way, in the normal fashion, "Allah akbar" then violence, then bombings then people will die and some will become Matyrs and Nigeria will become whatever. Then we 'll start having the Jos situation but they don't care because they know they are going to "al jana". Truly I wonder if present day Yoruba Muslims are anything but Yorubas , if they are not different from the Boko Harams and the Al majiris . I wonder if they truly even follow the Islam or they are just out there for trouble? The proud Muslims are no more there but the aggressive, selfish, emotional, low esteemed, wanna be's. Who cannot differentiate between Government and personal life and want to at alll cost look like the Northerners (pssss!). Did the Prophet (SAW) preach or encourage that, I guess not. Why am I not wearing religious apparrel to my office? why am I not dressing my child like Ifa told me to or as the Sango deity or the christianity told me/ I am even so shocked to see someone claiming that what is being currently worn now is Christian uniform!!! . What qualifies a western form of dressing religious? So the pakistanis or that puts on a suit with the turban or cap on is a christian or President Ahmedinajab is now a Christian or any of those muslim arabs or persians? I think Yorubas, we are loosing it |
careytommy: As usual, the bigots won't see anything good in this.Where is the fairness and justice we are talking about, is this not the same free education that federal government does not want to implement that is being implemented. What about children and primary schools all over the country with children who wanted to go to school are in schools with no dilapidated structures? I think government is telling us that, it is very profitable to be causing problems because you'll be compensated ! Some people before you know it, we'll start having most people especially these indigent and irresponsible people from the North will start Firing at will knowing that there's Almajiri school where their kids can get Free Education! I laugh |
afam4eva: All the Igbo sisters i know that married Yoruba men are divorced. Does this say anything?Except my the one married to my my mums cousin( their first child is about 42years now) the one that is married to my church member, married now for 14 years and she's a consultant. Well polygamy does not mean you are not a good lover, I cannot judge what I don't understand. Then the story becomes sweeter when the issue of Yoruba/ Ibo twist came into it , I can probably guess the motive; that is by the way anyhow. In as much as the story is pathetic, let just say that single mums can still find love, it now depends on them to be realistic and be sincere to themselves if not allowing the burden of the previous relatuonship carry over to the next. Finding love no be problem na how maintain the love and live happily after na im matter. The truth is some are terrible and will present themselves in a good light, however, after getting settled, their true colours starts emerging. A friend of mine met one , loved her and was willing to go all the way. After their firs child together, he wanted to get married as quickly as possible then behold the woman comong out with the most nastiest attitude! It became so sad that the guy is refusing her now after depositing over 450,000 for a hall forthe wedding ^ months before the initial date. There's now a second kid but my guy despite the fact that he wants to be with his kids and and send about 40% of his earnings to them said he'd rather stay single for life than marrry the woman that he really made a mistalke of opting for her in the first place |

Too much emotions really blinds reason. Did i hear someone said hausa /fulani/ kanuri army |
Not hope I'll be there and give you full details and Guess what it will be one of the best moment of my life because the Man is not just a Nigerian, that embodies some of the qualities I look for, my Hero but the few that deserves a thing like that. I guess some of this , are just being puerile and jealous of the Man. HE DESERVES AND HE SHOULD GET IT AND NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO DENY HIM. EVEN IF THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT LIKE IT, IT HAS GOT TO CHOICE TO DO IT. OJUKWU WAS AND IS NOT AN ENEMY OF THE STATE BUT M, B IS. THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT CAN STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING IS HIS FAMILY |
^^^^^ point B God bless you |
At this guy. Do not stay in you house behind one laptop and be thinking of some persons to fight what you wish you fight go out on your own if you are disgruntled and fight the Nigerian Army with your last blood, Silly There is no desecration here, when the man alive, he, didn't refuse the military entitlements given to him because He worked for it and deserves it if not more. So who are you to deny him in his death. I guess Massob and the rest will remove all pictures that had him wearing the army uniform and insigna. "Emotions could really blind reason trully" Bishop TD Jakes. |
In all respect , he deserves it as the stae has granted him full pardon. It will be a dishonour to him if anybody in the name of anything either as government or separatist deny him that. This to me is a plus on the part of the government. There is no ulterior motive here except from those who having it all will never be transiently satisfied with. |
To the Yoruba peeps here, Eje ka pe were l'oko iyawo k'ole je ka ri mu mi translates literally Let call the madman a husband so that he can let us enjoy peace. Yoruba this Yoruba that , it just simply translates to OBSESSION . These ones are seeing us in their sleep, wish all what we had good bad and evil are theirs , too much involved with us that they see not what they are missing in themselves, to the extent that when being praised, they are after us ,Melo gan gan l'era won to ni aramn nyo oun l'enu ? translates . What is the size of the ant that its complaining of worm infestation. We say in Yoruba Aja ni ngbo. translates It's a dog barking". Owu jije o ko aimowa a wu translates Good deeds woul;d not exclude them from being jealous of you. It's nothing but jealousy and it will burn them. You know what deep inside I said, hey wish they were us. ![]() |
I think it's not solely illetracy, it is jusy=t a political or revolutionary movement .whose aim isc total take of the hegemony, then Nigeria |
"Players are gonna play , haters are gonna hate". I read the article and there was no mention of scraps. the company is changing on basis of CAPACITY and not scrappy. I see no reason why Lagos state Govt will not buy and put into ops these coaches as long as safety , services and profits are assured from the comissioning of these cars. I think we have to start from somewhere mad it 's not a bad one at that. |
Sorry for the typo-- I'm at work ![]() |
