Average soft drink (33 cl)contains about 500 calories where as average beer in Nigeria (75cl) contains 150 calories. The soft drink volume is half that of the beer ,thus consuming thesame volume of beer and soft drink delivers 150 calories and 1000 calories respectively.
When the calory intake is consistently higher more than usage , it might result in Diabetes for evrybody but most especially those who are genetically disposed to and those with problems of the pancreas . Infact it can worsen the situation for the existing disease.
To me it is safer to take a beer than soft drink considering hat in most cases a bottle or two would've distended the stomach and ordinarily one will not take beyond this quantities and a total of 300 calories is delivered to the system. In contrast to soft drink where 6 times the amount will be delivered in thesame volume of 1.5litres.
Now beer seem to be more viscous and tend to trap the gas more than soft drinks which is lighter, thus the feeling of fullness is experienced earlier than soft drinks thus a moderate individual could easily lilmit his/her intake as compared to soft drinks.
However, beer when taken abnormally, ie beyond the point of feeling the distension in the stomach gets one tipsy althe way to being drunk, reducing ability to judge correctly, which is a big socila problem.
The sugar rush is another untoward effect of high consumption of soft drink whre one feel initially good as much sugar is sent into the system initialy leady to hyper activity ,but there results in between 2-3 hours a parabolic fall in the leading to a crash ( in healthy non diabetic individuals though). The dANDEGERS OF THE TWO IS MORE AGGRAVATED IN DIABETES THOUGH WHEN OTHER NUTRITIONAL considerations are not taken into consideration. This is basically being the gross calorific intake.
Moderation is the key word here however, to me, beer is better than soft drinks considering health implications at low volumes of intake.

Was crazy about it, used to keep my transport fair of 5k to convey me back home, then to buy the short cake and one malta biscuits or temitope biscuits untill my father(a civil servant) noticed that my pair sandals were wearing at an alarming rate, he investigated and when he knew, I got the smacking which was not as painful compared to the satisfaction of eating the short cake.

I have been at a shock and disbelieve since the first time I read about the killing of the 4 students. The NTA and all media houses has a responsibility to at least incessantly place the faces of the by- standers and partakers of the dastardly act till all were captured and brought to book.

I want to npow ask a question, what would have been our comments and reactions had these killings been perpetrated in the North or to these students in other parts of the country where they are not indegenes ? What would have been our judgement of the indegenes, I think we love life and are sophisticated in the South? We need a National conscientious and humane rebirth because this inhumanity and lawlesness pervades all societies and strata in this country. The government and even an average Nigerian ( bus driver, conductors,, doctors, nurses, lawyers policemen military and even religions practitioners and virtually all justifies violence in one way or the other does not value human lives. So don't let us be self righteous.

I think since govt derives some of its tax from sale of alcohol and other " HARAM " and from these taxes, the infrastructures and social facilities are provided, therefore, the IMAM should advise all Muslims to avoid the use of these facilities and accept anything from the government, including visas and naturalizations because the foundations of the country is not Islamic.
