Exactly, l don't even cares about the women. Not like they were forced
My main concern is the kids, the psychological impact on the children, their mental health. Polygamy is not really healthy. Children from a polygamous family has higher Global severity index.
Lol, are you sure? Those same women that do Voodoo so the other wife will fall sick or kill the other wives kids?

A high value man and his brood. So is this polygamy done right?

Will the most ardent advocates of polygamy 'the high value men' seek out divorcees or barren women, or will they seek out younger women?

Polygamy especially in the poor countries you are referencing is not about marrying women who missed out for any reason. Like the west and trophy wives it is about getting access to younger more nubile women.

Also and more importantly there is a number of children you have at which point you are nothing more than a sperm donor. A classmate who was advocating polygamy when I asked who will raise this army of children said - it's the woman's job. And that on its own is another reason why polygamous homes can produce train wreck adults. No supervision from dad, and an atmosphere of competition means each wife will hide rather than tackle her children's issues. As any wife with a misbehaving child will likely be mocked by the others
This is correct but the problem with polygamy is that It cannot really be abolished. It is just like prostitution, It can never go away & it will always find a way to bounce back. Americans tried to abolish it but they have baby mamas every where now, an average American lady has 2 kids for 2 different fathers. In fact I stay up late nights to watch Kendra G on Youtube (A late night American dating show), majority of the women who come around are working class who has at least 1 kid. You'd almost never find a lady on the show without kids already.

Also remember that polygamy practiced in a backward nation such as Nigeria is having so many kids which is quite different from polygamy practiced by elites in the West. Bill Gates had a lady he spends some weeks with once a year, this continued for a very long time before the divorce. The same with Jeff Bezos, this is a common pattern within the US elite community. They care about the quality time they spend with this other woman & not number of kids.

So regardless of whether you support it or oppose it, It is never going away.

Congrats bro. I'll also be coming to Scotland this month for my MSC program. I got a number on Nairaland for a job over there ... But the person couldn't help me with one saying I don't have UK working experience.

Is there anyway you can assist with a job or referral at where u work?? I'll be doing my MSC at a Uni in Glasgow.
Your name looks familiar like you're a programmer, wouldn't it be better to use your msc time for internships instead, so you can get a good IT job straight out of school assuming they retain you in one of those internships, instead of just working for money.

This is the problem I have with you people - you people lie a lot and you do this brazenly. Also, if you must lie, please do so intelligently.

Chileans have the H1B1 category where they get allocated 1,400 H1B1 visas annually of which it never gets filled up. By this, they have a direct route to be employed since the visa allocation is automatic since it never gets filled. Singaporeans have 5,400 slots. That too never gets filled. Unlike the rest of the world who slug it out in H1B that has only 85000 slots of which 65000 are for BSc holders. Chileans are not subjected to this. Mexicans also enjoy the TN visa you said only Canada does. See? You have lied the second time. Then Australians have the E-3 visa category to be employed directly by US companies without issues or playing a lottery system.

See? That is the third lie.

TravelRe: Sequel - Nigerians Are Not Suffering In UK Stop Lying by Kelechi009: 4:16pm On Jul 27, 2023
Mille:
My takeaway is that Nigerians should know that everything is relative. The UK will either be an upgrade or a downgrade depending on the person's living condition in Nigeria before relocating.

For someone who was balling in Nigeria or comfortable before relocating, the UK will be a massive downgrade if they are stuck in blue collar jobs. It will be a very big upgrade for someone who was unemployed or managing a 200k salary in Nigeria.

I did DHL and GLS sorting job while studying in Germany. And after studying, I couldn't get a professional job except an Amazon warehouse job that pays over €2k. Now the money was good but I was unfulfilled and a bit depressed because I feel I am above that level. I looked around me and quite a lot of people similar to me were stuck in these minimum wage jobs. Infact, my feeling as a black African was more like Germany only considers us for blue collar jobs. The ones who don't want to do manual jobs end up having to do a PhD. I then decided Germany as at then was not for me.

I explored the UK and visited Manchester where many of my family lives in. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't connect to the middle-class Africans. Many of my family members were doing care or factory work so I got discouraged and binned the UK. Got a remote job that pays a bit less than Amazon and returned home to Nigeria.

I'll disagree with the notion that Nigerians in UK are suffering. But I just feel a lot of them are professionally unfulfilled.

I intend to go back abroad and return. But my anthem is simple; " I WILL NEVER DO MANUAL or MINIMUM WAGE JOBS. Wherever I go, I don't want to be in the lower rungs of the society I live in

The US remains the best choice for any professional willing to relocate abroad.
Boss me, just a few clarifications from what I understand.

1. You did 2 years schooling in Germany & with all the hardships
2. After schooling you couldn't get any professional job except an Amazon warehouse job that pays over €2k.
3. Every other person you knew had to do a PhD just to stay in Germany
4. Many of your family members were doing care or factory work.
5. A lot of Nigerians are professionally unfulfilled
6. You got a remote job that pays around €1.5k (1.3 Million Naira) and you returned to Nigeria.

I am surprised you went through all the DAAD.de hardship, paid and embassy problems only to come back to Nigeria.

Are you sure this isn't a Spiritual Issue?

Also what year was this?

If the guy doesn't know what he is doing,he won't be able to account for those millions.

I know someone who works with Shell as a full staff for years.
Oga dey collect big money, that money enter his head, na so the guy dey show off, live extravagant, travel out on vacation every year, yet he doesn't have a piece of land even after over 15 years of working with Shell.

Yes people will envy him because he drives nice cars, lives in a lovely estate, but oga no get anything to secure his future.

People act differently when they get access to funds they never thought was possible, they keep saying the source is always there and it will keep coming.

I once got a contract job that paid 150k monthly, with 2k daily out station allowance paid, there was this my colleague Paul. This guy makes sure he spends that 2k everyday because he believes it is his due and another one will be paid the next day.
After 10 months of earning 150k/month, 2k daily, this guy could not account for what he did with his income.
He was arguing with me that we haven't collected UpTo 10 months salary.

Meanwhile from that same income, I bought my first land, started building it.
This was 12 years ago.

I have another guy who earn 600k monthly, dude will still come and borrow money before the next salary comes. This has been his habit.

So do you think this guy despite earning $3k can not also fall in the same category with these guys ?

Dey play.
I'm not sure a $3k salary can afford all those extravagant things. If he can save that money for a year, he will be made for lifeeeee.

Klass99:
Kindly leave me out of your ramblings, nonsense and stupidity. You don't know jack about me, my personal beliefs, values or ideologies.

Yes, I admire and respect President Tinubu because he, his predecessors and successors (Lateef Jakande, Mobolaji Johnson, Raji Fashola etc) made Lagos State an enabling and empowering environment where I could migrate to, from my home state to make and earn a living.

Lagos State has been good and favourable to me. I have thrived and flourished in this state through different work opportunities, training opportunities and the human resources, I've been exposed to. Opportunities and experiences which I cherish and appreciate. If my state governors (past and present) had done what Jagaban and his predecessors did in Lagos, I wouldn't be here and I never would have left my home state in the first place, in search of a productive and meaningful life.

Is there anything wrong with applauding one of the men/ex governors (Jagaban) who has contributed to a meaningful life for me? Some of you who run your dirty mouths waaaa on this forum insulting him day and night, were or are in the same boat as me. You left your home states for Lagos, you have reasonably done well in Lagos, better than you could have ever done in your states, yet you lack basic courtesy and respect for the man and his achievements. Is he your mate?

Why don't you guys move back to your home states or better still move to Peter Obi's Anambra State and see if you can achieve what you have in Lagos or if your lives will be any better in those places. The only person practising witchcraft here is you with this bullshit thread of yours. I gave someone candid advice on what I honestly thought would benefit him more, without ulterior motives on my part, based on what he shared and you create a shallow thread tagging me in it.

FYI, I don't have political affiliations with the APC, PDP or any political party. If I am impressed by the actions/achievements of a person or persons, I will applaud them and not concern myself about what political party they belong to. I am not pro -japa or anti-japa, either, I am a japa with sense kind of person and I don't need to explain myself to you.

Is this really about me supporting Jagaban? Or is this about the fact that I admired and applauded Sukkot for keeping his cool and maintaining a respectful attitude, when you and others were unjustifiably rude/insulting to him, on a thread people were engaging respectfully with playful banter until you arrived with your vile and nasty attitude. Were you pained because of that post about Sukkot? Because I recall you quoted me even when I wasn't talking to you, so now you feel the need to lump me in with people you don't like. Don't choke on your own bile towards others

Please respect yourself and stay in your lane! If you suffer from an inferiority complex where you believe the white man's land and things are better I DON'T. I am also in a very foul mood today, don't make me take it out on you.
Tinubu didn't do anything in Lagos, I grew up in Lagos from the 80s till today I reside in Ghana. He came in 1999 where he continued from Marwa's work in Lagos. He rode upon Marwa's already completed work.

From 1996 to 1999 Marwa was Military Governor of Lagos State. During his administration, he implemented programs such as "Operation 250 Roads" which greatly improved motoring conditions. He revamped public health institutions, and ensured that free malaria treatment that was available to all.

Are you trying to be deliberately obtuse with this very senseless question you just asked me.

Do you even know what the word average means? "a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data"

Are you not part of an average Nigerian? I have told you that your mentality is exactly that of a slave master, you see yourself higher than an average Nigerian. This is exactly your problem.

Average Nigerians have done many great things in Africa & beyond in Tech, Medicine + Nursing, Finance etc.

If you have a problem using Google, that's not my problem!

Gerrard59:
Name ONE POSITIVE thing that has come out from the average Nigerian man.

Just ONE.

In my thread: https://www.nairaland.com/7684230/how-reduce-hook-ups-nigeria I explained and even acknowledged that prostitution is normal and will always exist. That is where the numerous complainers have not reached. They believe it should not exist, which is not true. However, the rate at which it exists in poorer nations outnumbers richer nations. That is the crux of the matter. If the United States complains of it, it is permissible because she is prosperous. She has put the horse before the cart. On the other hand, it is strikingly odd for people who cannot ensure constant power supply to complain of the same issue. These people are putting the cart before the horse. Complain about the poverty issue in Nigeria before doing CCTV in a woman's vagina.

I don't have a skin problem. The problem I have is a priority one. The priority of Nigeria is not policing women's vagina, but poverty.
RomanceRe: I Need A Wife But Seeing Only HookUp Girls & Single Moms I What Would YOU Do? by Kelechi009: 8:01pm On Jul 22, 2023
@Gerrard59 Arguing with you is like arguing with someone who is defeated. You have a self hate problem. You hate that you came from Nigeria, you hate that you're African. I have told you everything about you reeks of slave master mentality. You hate yourself so therefore don't see anything positive coming out of Nigerian man. If you had the means you would have changed your skin color. Your issue is internal & you need to deal with it first.

Medical Daily shows us the countries who have a functioning system and thriving even spend more on sex: medicaldaily.com/countries-spend-most-sex-workers-what-we-know-about-minds-bodies-men-who-buy-sex-369294 The chart shows China spends the most on prostitution by a significant amount, shelling out over $73 billion each year. Spain came in second.

America has a functioning society & a very large prostitution base by Facts, it is not by having functioning society. They still complain about the hookup culture there all the time, so if people are complaining, allow them to do so. Prostitution statistics by country by doing a 5 minutes Google Search will show you en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_statistics_by_country China, India, and the United States are the countries with the most prostitutes.

According to this data, It was done by interviewing those engaged in street prostitution. The greater visibility of some forms of prostitution, such as street prostitution, makes statistics on these forms easier to collect. Thus it means hookup culture is even more prevalent if street prostitution can gather so much data

If people are complaining in Nigeria, allow them to do so.

Please deal with skin color insecurities first. Then we can talk!

Gerrard59:
Why should I budge? How come Northern men don't complain about the same issue? Why is it only men in the South that do? Why are you people not targeting the men who fund these girls? Are these girls paying themselves 100K per night for sex? We have men here on Nairaland, TwitterNG and Instagram who defend yahoo yahoo activities but forget the same cybercriminals are taking away their so-called girlfriends. Why don't you people tackle the problem from there?

You lots should focus on social engineering the way it is in the north and/or poverty alleviation. Women on their own are demisexual aka they don't like having sex with different men. They need an emotional connection to do so. But as condition don make crayfish bend, it is money for hand, back for ground. You don't like such a system? Make your society rich and stop doing CCTV inside woman toto!

It is irritating at this point that the major point of concern for black men in West Africa is policing their women's vaginas rather than building a functioning society.

Shame no dey catch una?
