Chai. Country pass country, CPC Las Las, all correct countries will demand a reverse for their citizens and Nigeria will have no choice than to yield. Imagine the UK telling buhari to reverse it on no more visa from Nigeria to the UK including diplomatic visas. How would some people and their families go to hospital? Lol |
itsme01:You got it wrong in your last paragraph. Nigeria is called a shithole not just because of its physical infrastructural deficit but because of the mentality of the people and you just confirmed it. What wrong has the Nigerian poor and disadvantage done? So one is supposed get his own infrastructure and service before he /she can enjoy a lovely Nigeria and that sounds good to you? How many heads do the poor Americans, Europeans etc that enjoy 24/7 light, hot and cold shower running in their homes and clean environment have? I don't think there is any country in the world where the number of rich citizens are greater than the poor citizens, it is always the reverse. However, the beauty and livability of any country is measured by how the poor and disadvantaged in the society are treated and efforts implemented to make their lives comfortable. The poor may not have the cars, big houses etc but at least they should also live a life of dignity. They shouldn't be carrying jerry cans and wheelbarrows fetching water from street to street, they shouldn't be sleeping in darkness because they do not have solar systems etc Nigeria has been turned to OYO society and believe me this OYO system is what has made the country a dog eat dog society where everyone is in a mad desperation to make money committing all sorts of crime. I can't imagine how someone would use a fellow human being for money rituals. This is because that this the only way to guarantee their personal comfort like you said since the collective comfort is non existent. Any country that is built this way would remain a shithole. |
Nigeria is not worth fighting for. I don't know why someone will think otherwise |
There are still southerners in Borno today making money and have refused to leave. Some of them have narrowly escaped being killed on numerous occasions yet they love it in Borno and will not contemplate leaving there. There are also some people who will not live in Borno or anywhere in the NE even if you pay them 10m a week, they rather drive Keke in their village than live there. This is all about perspective and what you value most in your life, there is no right or wrong answer. We can't all see things the same way. What i value most may not be what you value. My first priority may be your last priority. As for me and my family, i am not going to live in Nigeria even if you pay me 100m a month. The next time i will call Nigeria my home again is when i am retired and a grand father and i'm going straight to my own town estate to live. This is the only time i will go back and live in Nigeria. As for spending my youthful and working age in Nigeria, it is a NO NO for me. How i see life is different and no matter the amount i have in Nigeria, i just can't be happy seeing how things are working in that country. A day before i left Nigeria with my family, i changed 10m of my own money to dollars which was used for the initial settlement abroad. I wasn't poor in Nigeria so i see things way beyond this money talk that is always the center of this kind of argument about relocation and non relocation. |
My greatest regret was not leaving earlier. What was i even thinking? |
I thank God that my remaining siblings will move out of Naija this year. My whole family will be watching Naija from afar. |
Slawormir:Bros, you are partially right. However, if it is not easy for him, then he can always resign and allow others to try. It is not by force to lead. Don't forget that he was not begged to come and lead, he hustled for it for almost 12 years. Don't also forget that he is not doing a charity work, the pay and incentives he is getting is not chicken change. If you have a company that is not doing well and you employ an MD to rescue the company and your company starts going from bad to worse, will you just be smiling with the MD and pampering him or will you sack him and look for another person? |
There is nothing as sweet as being a citizen of a country that makes sense. |
vincentjk:The guy is to blame for all these nonsense. He wanted to be in the limelight and he got it so he should stop disturbing us. People who knew him warned him about Tonto when he was chucking his head there. Tonto has been a bad babe right from time and has never hidden it but Churchill shunned all advice because he wanted to be known and Tonto will offer him the limelight he craves for. He knows from day 1 that the marriage wouldn't last and he was okay about it but what he didn't know was the extent Tonto will go to rubbish him. Now he has the fame but............. |
why did the driver stop on third mainland bridge? For him to do what exactly? Is there a toilet in third mainland bridge or he expects him to poo on the floor? i don't get it |
Night of a thousand laugh |
dukeprince50:What did the security architecture do differently in Abuja that they couldn't do in Borno and Yobe? What does it take to bomb Abuja if boko haram wants to do that? My worry with this kind of statements you guys are dishing out of late is that you guys may be unknowingly dragging Boko haram to bomb Abuja to prove a point. Let us not forget that when the government starts boasting of defeating boko haram that is when boko haram goes on full throttle in order to counter their point. Abeg you guys should not put Abuja people to risk because you want to defend your Lords in government. |
Muslims are looking for a way to join Christians in their terror infected religious madness. If you blackmail Christians in Nigeria with hatched bombing, how can you blackmail Christians in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi, etc where they use terrorism to cook stew? Abi na Christians dey do bombing there too? If i were them, i will just pipe low, the whole world know who the terrorists are, it is not just Nigerian Christians. Lol |
post=86312662:I join you to say a big AMEN to your prayers. To add to it, May God punish those people both online and offline who are supporting those that were elected to put an end to these killings but are not doing so for their selfish reasons. May their online supporters and offline supporters never know peace. Please say a BIG AMEN to this prayer. Nairalanders also join me to say a big AMEN to it. The evil must never go unpunished. |
One question. If these herdsmen were not Fulani, will the government have allowed this wickedness to continue unabated? |
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Are these the gains? Aso rock spin doctors dey try oooo. Lol |
I hear the word 'Hustle' a lot among Nigerians. What exactly does this mean in the context of travelling? |
Saint Buhari make the value of your asset declaration public, let us be the judge. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, oga buhari is very funny, In Destalkers voice "he will go far" |
The onus is on the bigger power to show restraint no matter what. These smaller powers can disturb without fear because they have actually nothing to loose, they are coming from the position of relative weakness. For example, you remember how Turkey had the mind to shoot down a Russian fighter jet just like that. Russia could have escalated it but they choose no to not because they are weak but Big powers have to show restraint. The big superpowers respect themselves more because they know what is involved. For example, the US would never have done what Turkey did by shooting down a Russian aircraft when they know it strayed into their territory by mistake and not coming for an attack. Russia will also not do that. What they do have done will be to scramble jets and escort it out of their airspace. So i am not surprised with Iran. That is what a weaker nation will do and US choosing not to escalate it is in line with what a superior power will do. |
philip0906:Manu vs Chelsea, Barca Vs Real, Messi Vs Ronaldo, US vs China, Buhari Vs Jonathan, etc. It seems to me that everyone in this forum must choose a side and defend it blindly. It seems to me that there is no neutral party and no room for objectivity. Every issue has to be approached in this person vs. that person sentiments. Otherwise, how did you know i support Jonathan? Have you seen me in person? Have you seen any thread i created stating i support or defending Jonathan? Must i or any other person be a supporter of Jonathan to criticize buhari? Nigerian education has failed otherwise, we should not be breeding people who think in one dimension. Anyway, i don't have time for this nonsense, after all buhari declare asset or not does not concern me, i don't even live in Nigeria, you can go and slug it out with ya buhari vs Jonathan online warriors. Bye |
philip0906:Jonathan is bunkum. Saint Buhari should not follow Jonathan's footstep but follow Yaradua's footstep in this case. Except you want to tell me that Buhari and Jonathan are the same, i don't see the reason why Jonathan's bad behavior should be a benchmark for someone who claimed to be a better person when we have a perfect example to follow in Yaradua. Just remove sentiments and see if it makes sense. Lol Once again, thank you for providing that link. It drives home the point. Thanks |
philip0906:You confirmed what i just wrote. It seems you didn't open the link or you are not intelligent enough to understand the differences. Buhari did a voodoo asset declaration (Mentioning assets without the corresponding values or worth). He intentionally did not put the value so as not to surprise Nigerians. What Sane Nigerians are saying is that Buhari should declare his assets properly by putting the values to his assets so that we can see his worth. It is not by force sha but it is for people who have nothing to hide. What is the value of his houses and the total value of his assets? Read Yaraduas own and read Buhari's own and answer the question. Tell Saint Buhari to tell us the value of his houses and assets if he has a clean mind like Yaradua. Lol By the way, thank you for providing the link to buttress my point. It made it very easy for me. Lol |
Afamed:PMB did not declare his assets publicly. He did it with CCB and the details is not known by the public. What he did in 2015 was to direct his spokesman then to tell Nigerians that he had some cows, houses in Abuja and Kaduna, some money in the bank and a land in portharcourt which he does not know. When yaradua declared his assets openly without pressure, he declared it properly in such a way that everyone knew his worth. The value of his houses were mentioned and the sum total of his assets were declared. What Yaradua did was how to declare an asset because he had nothing to hide. By right, no law mandates Buhari to declare his assets publicly. So he can choose not to tell any one. However, what sane Nigerians are saying is that this is Buhari's opportunity to show accountability and lead by example. If he "Saint Buhari", the only "Corrupt Free" Nigerian politician ever can be doing hide and seek with his assets, what then will the other corrupt politicians do? If Buhari has nothing to hide, why is it so difficult even when under pressure to release publicly his assets when he could have done it without anyone telling him. When the next president comes, are we now going to have the mouth to ask him to publicly declare his assets when "saint Buhari" did not declare? Instead of buhari to copy Yaradua and continue a tradition that would have put the next president on his toes to do the right thing, he is the one now killing the good initiatives and yet he is the one "fighting corruption". This is an irony. |
I don’t understand the brouhaha this thread is generating. Retiring abroad and returning to Nigeria is not because Nigeria is the better place to live or any big deal but because it is the most logical thing to do. I am going to the same thing too. No big deal. I don’t think anybody who was born in Nigeria and migrated abroad as an adult will like to stay forever in a foreign land. On retirement, the person would likely move back to naija. The only set of Nigerians I think that are likely to turn their back on Nigeria forever are half Nigerians (Nigerians with one foreign parent) and Nigerians that were born and bred abroad. These set of people have no emotional and cultural ties to Nigeria so it is not out of place for them to call USA or any other foreign country their home permanently. Returning to Nigeria after retiring abroad is the most logical thing to do and here is why 1. I don’t think there is any Nigerian apart from the set of Nigerians I described above that will love to die and be buried abroad. People who are cultural, at some certain age start thinking of going back home to live their last phase of their life. After retiring abroad with children settled and living on their own, there is nothing much to do anymore. If the person dies abroad for instance, it costs so much to bring back the corpse to Nigeria and this makes no sense. So culturally inclined individuals would return in one piece and live the rest of their lives. 2. At that stage of life, the bullshits and nonsense going on in Nigeria will no longer get to you compared with how a 30+ year person will feel about the shits going on in the country. The retiree with loads of dollars in his account will be less bothered about light problems, bad roads and open dirty gutters littering the city, rule of law etc. Afterall, they have enjoyed those things for 30+ years of their life. At this stage, they tend to be more individualistic. They are less concerned about politics, economy etc. They are only interested about being healthy and enjoying their life the best way they can so that they can live longer. So if the 20-30+ years people are demonstrating for a better Nigeria, they will sit in their house and be drinking tea. It doesn’t concern them cos their Children are not even in Nigeria 3. Armed with citizenship of a first world nation, the retiree now based in Nigeria can travel to anywhere the want at any time. So it is not like they are stuck in Nigeria. So they can fly out of Nigeria for medical treatment if necessary 4. Retiring to any other place other than Nigeria does not make sense for a Nigerian. While the whites can afford to retire to any country like they do, unlike us, they are not culturally inclined. They can adopt any country as theirs and live, die and be buried there. They are not inclined to ancestral lineage like we do I have a distant uncle who lived in the USA for about 40 years. He came back 3 years ago after he retired. Two years before he came back, he built himself one sweet house in an estate he called his retirement home. Rumor has it that he sold his house in New York above $500K and came back.(I don’t know if it is true). Mind you, all his children and grandchildren are established in the US so he has no responsibility. I learnt that since he came back 3 years ago, he and his wife still ensure they spend 3 months out of the 12 months outside Nigeria enjoying their lives. For me, I am going to return to Nigeria after retiring. Like I said earlier, it is not because Nigeria offers better quality of life but because it is the most logical and reasonable thing to do. I just finished fencing about 3 plots of land I bought in the estate this my uncle built his retirement home. I am going to erect my retirement home there at some point probably when it is getting close to my return. Please guys, this is my own opinion. Not interested in arguments. There is no right or wrong answer here @Op, I wish you good health and long live as you enjoy your retirement journey |
