Good morning all,

Please I need a matured and straightforward advice.

I did my youth service in 2017, started work with one small company like that and was able to build my own house from the job. Now the company has closed due to covid related issues. I applied for a job in one of the new generation bank, i wrote their test and attended interview, later I was asked to go for medicals which i also passed, currently we are just waiting to be call for training, about 40 of us.

During the interview we were all asked if we can work as a marketer of which we all answered in affirmative, that means we can end up working as a marketer which I honestly don't like.

Last month my boss asked me if I can work with a state government and I agreed, and he said I should get ready to resume work by January...I'm at the moment confused and need guidance.

I'm from the north, married with one daughter....

my questions :

1. Does it means the bank will employ us as a marketer just because they ask us during interview if we can work as a marketer?
2. Can I grab the bank job or state government work ... what's more important in the long run

State Government work all the way. Bank jobs especially for contract staff always end in premium tears. You will regret it if you miss the state government work and accept the bank marketing work. You will not forgive yourself.

I am Currently working in Lagos on a salary of 50 to 55k on a 12 hrs(8am to 8pm for a shift and 8pm to 8am for other shift). You can find a place to sleep over if you decided not to go house. But before next year there will definitely be an opportunity in the same organization to be a permanent staff on a salary of 80k on the same 12hrs but with a monthly leave, 13 month salary, incentive bonus.

There is also another opportunity in Ibadan on a salary of 50k and a daily meal but 7 to 3pm for morning shift and 2pm to 10pm for the other shift, a day leave every week, after a year the organization will be paying 13 month salary, accomodations and if I decided not to stay over, just 200 naira to my place in Ibadan, bonuses every festive period both cash and food.

Thinking of going for the Ibadan job and using the remaining hours after work to learn a skill because self employment is the key. But career wise, I need your advice.

The Lagos job is my line of field while Ibadan is deviation to another field

If I were in your shoes, I will not think twice before I grab the Ibadan offer with both hands and relocate with immediate effect. Lagos is a glorified city of suffering and smiling.

If she ticks all your boxes for a dream wife, make your intention known to her. However, you must be emotionally strong incase she totally declines your proposal.

I think she wants to be sure of what you want first. She is not sure whether you want marriage or only sex.

Core i5, 128GB SSD is a bit fair but that 4GB RAM is too low. You should go for a minimum of 8GB RAM but if this is all you can afford for now, go for it. It is just a starting point.

I hate to meddle in your arguments but I need to let you know that your analogy does not hold water. You talked about Moses being raised in Egypt yet destroyed Egypt that raised him. No Egypt was destroyed by any Moses. Due to work, my husband and I live in states, and my husband lives in Canada. 3 months ago we had some serious skirmishes during our phone conversation and in the heat of the argument, I told him that he does not appreciate the fact that I am raising the kids and doing everything alone.

To my disappointment, he told me that he is overworked more than me. This really angered me. This got me angry and I hung up. Although He tried to reach me for 4 days, and also sent me some messages, I cut him off without replying, about 9 weeks later, I sent him just a message on an unrelated issue, he ignored my message, after another month, I sent him another message, he also ignored. It has been 3 months now we have not spoken to each other.

Recently my brother had a baby, and he only called once to congratulate them. Moreover my younger sister got admission to a university to study the same course that my husband studied, so naturally, my sister contacted him. My sister said he advised her on what to do and what she should expect. This was about 2 months ago. I personally did not inform him about my sister’s admission myself.

After about one month, my sister also called him for more information, but he has not been picking my sister’s call.

My sisters fiancee also called him to inform him about their upcoming marriage (my same sister that got the admission) he only spoke with my sister and her fiancee once, he stopped further communication with them on both issues of admission and marriage, and that he only spoke with them the first time about the admission and the marriage out of the respect he has for them.

He gave my sister the excuse that it was not proper, for him to speak with her fiancee' because he said that I have not told him anything about the marriage, therefore he can not relate further with my sister as per the marriage. And that it was out of respect that he even called my sister initially to advice her.

What are you thoughts and opinion please.

No.1 thing husbands want from their wives is Respect. No matter how high and mighty you are, you should never belittle him and his efforts. He must have been really hurt and could have cried secretly within him. You knew you hurt him and yet, you went mute for weeks only to surface again with a different conversation, that is unwise. Don't be surprised he may be processing a divorce. It will be better you speak with him and apologize. Men value their ego and they are really hurt when it is deflated especially by theirwives. It may take sometime to completely resolve the issue but make sure you didnt let him rest until you are sure he has forgiven you. Cheers!

You talked about people supporting this government and ASUU, did ASUU strike starts with them?

Subsidy? This is the same line the government gives us anytime they want to increase pump price, they tell us we have the cheapest petroleum price in the world and therefore, they must remove subsidy so that the price can be at par with the world level. However, they have removed subsidy more than 5 times under Buhari that claimed there was nothing like subsidy under Jonathan and still, they are not done yet. Back to the matter, government has not said they subsidized education in any manner apart from the fraudulent "one meal per day" scheme for imaginary primary schools. I dont know why you are helping this government to issue statement it never made. When did Buhari or any government (apart from Chief Obafemi Awolowo's free education policy in the Western region from late 70s to mid 80s) talk about subsidizing education?
Again, of course ASUU strike did not start with them but if they cant lessen ASUU crisis, they shouldn't worsen it. They'd better leave us as we were, not worse off than we were before they came.

Go and check the demands of ASUU very well, they are not just asking for increment or disuse of IPPIS, they are asking for revitalization of varsities among other developmental demands. Useful research work is either personally funded or the university does the funding!
The former is not possible due to the salaries that even a professor earns!
However,this is not the bone of contention!
There is always an opportunity to renegotiate with another committee!




Firstly,i am not a lecturer or part of ASUU....I am only trying to tackle the issues from an objective point of view!
Secondly,As much as i agree with your last statement about some lecturers in our universities,you will agree with me that not all lecturers are into what you are trying to accuse all of them!
Lets not lose sight of the main issue at hand which is the revitalization of our universities and review of the upward salary structure of lecturers!
The other issues can be resolved by setting up another committee by the FG to investigate what you are alleging!

The question is did the FG renege in their negotiation and agreement with ASUU through the committee that they set up?
Did FG throw out the 2 reports by committees that they themselves setup to resolve the issue with the union?
Once we are done with resolving the questions at hand,we can talk about how to investigate the excesses of the university lecturers in nigeria!

In that case, if government will not pay ASUU the 2021/2022 session should be cancelled and all tests and exams conducted should be nullified, then the strike action should continue for as long as FG declines until a responsible president that is ready to do the needful comes to power.
