ilevic:It is not a bad thing to gain knowledge even from the lowest of places/people as no man is an island of knowledge. This is what makes you a better person and better professional in your field. As it stands, I have gathered and still gathering experience ranging from COREN certified engineers to technicians and even Carpenters. Not one of these people started at 100%, they all started from 0% and learnt from someone somewhere be it in the four walls of a Nigerian University or on the roadside. You will be more respected when you can perform wonders in your profession as no one will even ask whether you learnt from a roadside mechanic, all your employer will be seeing is an engineer he can not afford to lose to other companies. |
Funny thread!NairaSand:Bros, you have time to be responding to ignorant fellows. One even said engineers are the main reason why Nigeria is still unable to generate above 5000 megawatts. I am just laughing at the sheer ignorance. Ask him when last did the government involve engineers in policy formulations? Ask him why the Chinese rail project is undertaken uniquely by Chinese engineers and not one Nigerian trained engineer is part of the rail project for possible acquisition/transfer of knowledge of rail construction from the Chinese, yet the government is saying nothing? You will start getting funny answers.Discussions as this are pointless, as only the professionals, be it engineers, economists, doctors e.t.c know where the shoe pinches! I have met engineers who should have their certificates seized, same way I have met many engineers who are very adept in their practice with the limited resources. We have Nigerian doctors who forget tools, towels in people's stomach, misprescribe drugs, economists mishandling the affairs of the economy, all these people are products of the Nigerian University system. If I am to follow the line of thought of this thread, then engineering and other professions should be cancelled in Universities and the jobs given to those who have not been certified. |
Unityp:Point 1:This is not true. This is just hearsay/rumour spread by people who are ignorant of how (pre-paid)metering is done and/or those who wilfully want to bypass paying for electricity consumed. There is a fixed amount of naira consumed per KW/h of energy consumed. The only way these companies can tamper with your meter speed is by increasing the official electricity tariff, which is usually announced in the media. Whether people now agree or disagree to the official increment is a debate for another thread. Just like what this thread is about, you can not have two 1.5 Air conditioning units, microwave, water heater, T.V, refrigerator,Halogen lamp e.t.c running non-stop and expect your meter will not run fast. I have used prepaid meters in two other African countries and my experience is not different from the Nigerian one, as I regularly switch off appliances I do not need. Point 2: Bypassing your pre-paid meter because you feel PHCN wants you to fall in their trap is not a strategy. I repeat this is not a strategy. What happens in this case is that the bulk of the bill is simply passed on as estimated bill to another consumer, those who do not have meters or use analog meters. What you call strategy is actually stealing from others. These distribution companies also have bills to pay. Or who do you think will foot the bill of the gas supplied to Thermal stations. The distribution companies know they have supplied X Megawatts of electricity to Town A and Town B and expect to get Y Naira worth of the same X Megawatts that month. It will become bad sales if they are only able to get 20% of the expected amount, which is what normally happens as Nigerians are expert at defaulting. That is why you see PHCN officials coming unannounced to check those who have bypassed the prepaid meters and also estimate high bills for the unmetered customers to cover for loss. One way or the other, 85% of the target must be reached. Meanwhile, I am not ruling out corrupt staff. They are also part of the saboteurs. If anyone wants to adapt, get your own source of power like Solar and enjoy the feeling , just the way people are digging boreholes for their own water. Let's learn to do the right things, government is not only them but me and you. |
That Nigerian manager called Lekan is a big f.ool. How can you claim you can not comment on one hand because you where not there when it happened, then boldly claim in the same vein, that you are sure the victim is pretending? To slap that idiot of a manager just dey hungry me...! |
hopefulLandlord:You can go through Aaronson's post for more info. |
Unityp:While this might sound like a cool thing to do, it is wrong! And those culprits doing this are part of the saboteurs sabotaging the efforts of the government in providing electricity. Let's learn to do the right thing in our day-to-day activities. ![]() |
hopefulLandlord:Both usernames are two different people. One is atheist (aa.ron.son) the other is a Christian. |
OneHead:Too much grammar. Just tell us which part of Abuja this flood happened, your news is incomplete. We are waiting... |

oyetpel:I understand the symbolism of the characters to the present world, tech boy and co, infact that's another reason I quickly optedin and downloaded it but the show itself doesn't connect for me. I get lost most of the time trying to see the head of the show I downloaded the book too and tried to read up the first chapters but nothing! I have given upp on the show for now and come back when they have gone like 2 seasons, by then it should be making sense. |
Your hyping here made me download this TV series. All the hype, episode 5 and I'm still lost like a 5 year old kid in his first day at Physics class. This crap is boring and disjointed! You guys that understand and enjoy it must be from another planet. What a waste of MB men! |
Those saying its a lie are those who ![]() 1. are still eating mama thank you ![]() 2. never cook at home and regular customers at restaurants/mama put. That plate of food you pay N800to N1000 for with a bottle of coke, can actually cook soup for 2 days for some people. Don't be surprised. ![]() 3. those who are being cheated of food money by their babes. If you are familiar with buying soup stuff from the market, you would know that it's the chicken/meat/fish that takes the bulk of the money, the vegetables are usually not expensive. |
ilynem:It will amaze you to know that the average atheist has more knowledge of the Bible way better than some off you Christians. Anyway, I don't need your quiz, it's a pointless and fruitless exercise as my initial comment was just sarcasm. |
Just imagine an aged person whose son rarely visits but never fails to send money to the account he opened for his aged Parents for their upkeep. Now imagine them getting this kind of message and how scared they will be and go ahead to provide details to this ediotic fraudsters! |
Block the darn thing jare! |

okonja:Na so, the joy you derive in seeing them grow! Mine is already walking and interested in grown up activities. You are making a call, he wants your fone, working on your laptop, he wants to work on your laptop too. Mum is mopping, he will play with the water in the bucket... Only you know how much you will be spending every day but the joy in seeing your family happy far outweighs any money you've spent. |
This na indomie generation biscuits na! ![]() |
okonja:Your own even tried...mine never slept in it for one night. Also don't rush spending heavily on expensive new baby clothes, my DS is always outgrowing his clothes within 2 to 3 weeks, I and wifey gave ourselves brain and bought okrika instead. New clothes were restricted to only outing clothes. There's baby food, Huggies, baby drugs, shoes and a whole lot of things to buy and always buy. Infact there's nothing like being broke when it comes to their matter! You must bring out the money! ![]() |
How about praying for forgiveness of the sin you committed at 5 a.m.? That's what I would do if I didn't know that prayer is bullsh*t and mere talking to oneself. ![]() |
I also converted from atheism to christianity and my atheist family have rejected me too . Let me move my load to Port-harcourt to this church. Maybe I will get free rent and my own sweet Mazda ride. ![]() |
Eh man must wack...they won't feed themselves on pittance and small handouts from members. ![]() |
ISKANDER18TH:Take your pirated forum away from my face abeg and shove your advice into the waste bin, you will need it more. Address the topic at hand and stop dropping red herrings as upandan. |
1. Because no one will report you and have a death fatwa on your head like some religion like that where fasting is eye-service. 2. Because this is 2017 and religion is fast becoming old and giving way to the gods of technology, mordern medicine e.t.c. Reference : American Gods TV series ![]() 3. Because they have realized that you can be good, do good and selfless service on your own accord not because some religious book said so. 4. Because the internet provides the required knowledge to show that religion is a sham and this is easily accessible 5. Because no one enjoys routine acts and repeated preaching they have been hearing since childhood. 6. Because atheists are doing a good job at presenting their arguments. ![]() 7. Because (some)youths are dynamic people who don't like being stagnant and will return to the church later in their sixties when life becomes boring and routine. ![]() 8. Because they have realized religion is just a sham! I could go on and on... |
paradice:Your signature is not showing... ![]() |
influenz:Church wahala... Yes it is wrong, tell your pal's friend to go to church, he is not a good Christian oo! No excuse, if it's to steal or borrow the money for offering let him do it , ![]() |
You guys should add price range Biko... ![]() |
redbeans:It's not sarcasm my brother. Either pay your tithe to god as a good Christian should or get roasted in hell fire prepared by same god for eternity. Pretty straightforward! Choose one! ![]() |
Please keep paying your tithes, don't relent! Jehovah ministered to me that heaven's bank account is getting depleted and that he is very broke presently. He needs your money to pay the ever growing luxury lifestyles of his generals a.k.a men of god. Please, help spread the word to other doubting tithers. |
I have two beautiful female friends (3 actually )who are engineers. One is a mechanical engineer and the other is an elect/elect engineer like me. People's perception about female engineers is because they know little about engineering. So long you stick to standard safe engineering practices any properly trained professional engineer will do his/her job without problem. |
Picture of the rapist nko? We don't want to see pictures of the victim, it's the rapist we are interested in! |
