very interesting theory and the level of co-ordination is too much to be passed off as coincidence, why is it inconceivable that the artist could decide to do something like this? |
can anyone else remember the days not too far gone when a moment of spontaneous skill from one of our players would draw shouts of joy and awe? when last did we experience this? watching Kanu play against Korea brought a couple of cheers to my lips. what an extremely talented player, such a touch of class, he makes everything look so easy as if he was created, by God, soley to play football. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IbsiRp1nBY |
eddy1977:what a daft silly comment |
i would have expected all Africans to unite behind the African teams not really coz of slavery or any thing of the sort but simply because of our common heritage. |
pro01:yes i think you are on point when you say the article has a feminine bias. was still interesting though i personally do not believe in a text book approach to matters of the heart. |
medjai:actually it occurred in the last few minutes of the match against the U.S when the U.S had scored and the Algerians knew there was no hope for them. i still dont get why coulibaly is being condemned for a decision that was essentially the linesmans |
it has been a joy watching Kanu play. he will forever live on in my heart. |
landtraza:my thoughts exactly. anyway thats her choice but wen you are seated amongst them it would only be wisdom to show restraint, in the heat of the moment particularly a moment as emotionally charged as that one, u r ill advised to behave radically |
Yobo and Shittu? evidently you have never seen Apam and Adeleye play. those two are the future |
well he has proven you |
i beleive anther yahia the algerian captain was wrongly sent off in a case of mistaken identity, one of the algerian players abused the ref, the ref then called the player, turned around and walked three/ four steps away and then turned back to award the card. while the ref had turned his back, yahia had rushed in to drag his players away and to beg the ref, when the ref turned around it was yahia he saw and he then gave him the card despite pleas from yahia that it was not him. poor |

Defenders Ibok Edet Dele Adeleye Onyekachi Apam Obiora Nwankwo Fortune Chukwudi Kenneth Omeruo Aliyu Oliha Adefemi Olubayo Uwa Echiejile Midfielders John Obi Mikel Haruna Lukman Rabiu Ibrahim Abdul Ajagun Ramon Azeez Kayode Olarenwaju Kalu Uche Harmony Ikande King Osanga Strikers Sani Emmanuel Stanley Okoro Ikechukwu Uche Victor Anichebe Gbolahan Salami Obinna Nsofor i think with these players we can carve out a brilliant team within the next three years, the core of the team for me would be Apam, Adeleye, Nsofor, K.Uche, I.Uche, Anichebe, Osanga, Mikel, Haruna and Enyeama. all others should be invited to camp to prove themselves. Ideally they would line up thus: Enyeama Oliha Apam Adeleye Aliyu Osanga Mikel Haruna K. Uche I.Uche Anichebe i have opted for Oliha at the back coz he is very strong in defence and good in attack, Apam in the centre is a good marker, very aggressive and fast, Adeleye his partner is slower but much stronger and a very good sweeper and on their left i have opted for Aliyu who is very similar to Oliha. both players possess a strong shot. in the midfield.i have gone for the best holding player in Mikel who is also a very good passer, partnered by Haruna who is more aggressive, a better dribbler and can shoot better. on the right flank is King Osanga who is not too skilful but is a great crosser of the ball. With the big man Anichebe upfront, Osanga's crosses will prove Useful. On the left flank is Kalu Uche who is a skilful versatile creative player. Uche will provide the option of dribbling infield to shoot, cuttin back to cross or penetrating the opposition with good interplay between him and the attacking full back Aliyu. Up front is the target man Anichebe partnered by Ike Uche. Anichebe is very strong and good in the air. he is also very fast and a good finisher.(similar to Altidore of the US) the midfield and wingers will have the opton of playing long balls up to him to control, drawing out defenders by doing so and then laying it off to his partner Uche. i have chosen Uche for this role because he is very quick, skillful and a good finisher. alternatively/simultaneously while maintaining the same formation, the midfield should be able to string passes together on the ground and Uche as a second striker(this is a specific role in football) should be able to create space for Anichebe by tactical dribbling and good movement outside the box. all in all i feel this is a good team. |
according to what i have ready its not only Enyeama, Enyeama and some of the younger players. who in his right mind will drop Uche? |
they were demoted from super eagles a long time ago, they temporarily occupied the position of super chickens and have now been demoted to 'mere fowls' until further notice |
the algerian players do have serious aggression issues, their conduct against egypt in the nations cup was terrible and the way the behaved towards the ref in their game today was equally deplorable |
i am strongly of the opinion that Ghana's attacking potential is seriously being inhibited by the coach. prince tagoe is a worthless waste of space, Adiyiah deserves a shot as he has proven his talent and Gyan certainly can use all the help he can get. i feel Ghana's attacking threat could best be maximized by dropping Tagoe and incuding Appiah so that the line up would look something like Annan Appiah Asamoah P.Boateng Ayew Gyan or a traditional 4-4-2 with p.Boateng d.Boateng Appiah Muntari Ayew Gyan or the most ideal formation for a side with dominat midfielders, the 4-4-2 diamond Annan Boateng Muntari Asamoah Ayew Gyan most people dont know him but these is this very good defensive midfielder on Ghana's bench, Derek Boateng. he plays in the spanish league though i cant remember which club. he is a very good player with a similar style to Essien. |
any ideas as to why the ghana coach persistently refuse to play Appiah and Muntari? i am also at a loss as to why he keeps starting prince Tagoe, he's such a poor player |

Dear Nigerian National Team, now that all is said and done all i see and hear are complaints here and there which is understandable but i want to say that we must learn to give credit where credit is due. to that effect i am writing this letter to thank Vincent Enyeama and Kalu Uche for their honourable display for their country at the 2010 world cup. if Nigeria departs this world cup merely shamed and not as imbeciles it is because of these two men. honourable mention to: Victor Obinna Nsofor who came on today and tried his best Chidi Odiah who created the first goal today Ismaila Taye Taiwo, often underrated by his country, Danny Shittu, who always gave his best. Yusuf Ayila.in one word =heart. And last but not least, to a legend, a hero and an Icon.Nwankwo Kanu who for 45minutes reminded us of what used to be. thank you for your love and service for your country. knowing that this will be the last time ever that we will watch you play in the green jersey of our proud but shamed fatherland. i am saying farewell and goodbye. to the next generation, the future is yours; take it it by force, with determination and with the knowledge that it is the highest honour and greatest opportunity to serve ones fatherland. Remember Sani Kaita and Yakubu Aiyegbeni and do not be like them. May the eagles fly again. yours sincerely through the good and the bad A true Super Eagles fan |
i was extremely upset at Yakubu's miss because at such a critical moment for your country, faced with such an open opportunity you should be at maximum concentration. i can assure you that many defenders would have had struggled to clear that ball as accurately as he did. (by the way a replay showed that he was offside by the rules which state that when you have no opposing player in front of you, the player receiving the ball must be behind the ball to be considered onside). in any case i dont want to dwell on Yakubu's miss for a number of reasons, these things happen in football sometimes, even ronaldo missed a an open net before, 2. if we had scored that goal we may not have gotten the penalty. the chance that really pissed me off was martins chance because at that stage it was already 2-2 and another goal was all we needed and he took it so poorly. the real criminals of the day though are Afolabi and Shittu and perhaps Yobo. i cant understand why Afolabi was started out wide when both Taiwo and Echiejile were fit, baffling. the first goal was clearly down to an error from Afolabi, as a defender you must go up to head the ball at the earliest possible opportunity. that means that if you can jump up to a maximum of 7 feet, as soon as the ball reaches 7 feet you must jump and head it out. this was the same error nwaneri made against ghana by waiting for the ball to come to his head instead of rushing to meet the ball. Afolabi for some strange reason watched the ball come down and thus was caught unawares. the second time, they still gave away a completely unecessary free kick and sadly enough it was our hero, Enyeama, who failed here, he was wrongly positioned. from the replays i saw that he moved to the right first and then had to scramble over to the left. i wonder why he did this as his wall had effectively covered the right side of goal. anyway the whole story is that the Nigerian defense as it is right now is a truly horrible sight to behold. |
Egypt have been rubbish on the world stage and their confederations cup performance showed that for all their dominance in Africa, they cannot perform on the world stage. one hypothesis i have concerning this phenomena is that Egypt play football the european way and hence they are more tactically and technically organised than most sub-saharan African teams. the flip side of that coin is that when they play against teams who play in a similar way but with more individually skilled players, they are out of their depth. but then again can any performance be worse than what we've seen so far? its hard to imagine how that could be possible so on the whole i would say i would much rather have seen Egypt and Tunisia qaulify than Nigeria and Algeria. |
all this is is the fault of france and britain, how members of the same nation can live side by side as two different countries will forever remain a great african tragedy |
rokiatu:his post clarifies that. he is currently in lagos. sounds like a reasonable fella with a different approach but most of the ladies who might fit the description will likely be too proud to get in touch or be based abroad. |
Vavavoom:lol who is responsible for this? |
its been dreadful. apart from the inconsistencies in their decision making, has anyone else notice how poor the positioning of referees is? they are constantly getting into the wrong spaces, choking up room meant for passes, and blocking off players sometimes. |
to continuity i say an emphatic yes. to lagerback i say an emphatic no. if we are going for continuity lets get siasia or eguavon into the job |
Ibime:well on his day ben arfa is as good a winger as ribery and nasri while not being too similar to malouda is just as good or better from a similar position, there is also jeremy menez playing at roma, highly gifted lad. french football is teeming with young blood |
i agree that keita misbehaved, he is such a good actor that he could probably star in mission impossible 4 (the african quest to win the world cup) but his co star would definately be kaka |
at least be original. you read the france story and thought you were gonna have a good time conning gullible people eh? |
