As part of effort to cushion the effects of hunger and suffering as a result of the fight against Covid19 in Rivers State, the rivers state government has made provision for food items to be distributed to members of the public. Below is a picture of my own share of the palliative from Eneka, a town in Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State. Is this the food they promised to provide for us while we stay at home? Have you received your own food, share pictures if any

The Akwa Ibom State Government has denied the five cases of COVID-19 earlier confirmed in the state by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and called for the re-confirmation of the cases. Speaking on Thursday at a press conference in Uyo, the state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr Dominic Ukpong, said the five reported positive cases have been contacted but have showed no symptoms of the coronavirus. He stated that the testing that produced the said result did not follow due process, adding that the Director General of NCDC was not aware of the reported result which was announced. He noted that the testing process was bridged, as the procedure for releasing the results was not duly followed, adding that the test will be repeated. Ukpong explained that the sample batches which were previously sent for testing by the state government came back negative. He mentioned that the COVID-19 cases came from the team of American doctors who recently carried out a medical outreach in Ibesikpo Asutan local government area of the state, adding that the contact tracing of patients and all those who came in contact with the doctors was ongoing. “We observed a disturbing breach in the test and reporting procedure. Akwa Ibom State Government only heard about the test results in the news. “The Director General of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) was not aware of the reported result announcement. “All 5 reported positive test cases have been contacted and they have showed no COVID-19 symptoms. “While the tests were being processed in NCDC approved test facilities, all suspected cases were held in isolation. “Several sample batches have been previously sent for testing from Akwa Ibom State and they all returned negative results. “Owing to the irregularities observed in the testing and reporting procedure, Health Care Professionals in Akwa Ibom State have called for an immediate reconfirmation test on the five reported cases,” he stated. The Commissioner said the five cases were currently at the Ibom Multi-Specialist Hospital and were not showing any symptoms of the disease. He urged residents of the state to remain calm and observe the personal and respiratory hygiene guidelines that were issued, adding that it was also important to adhere to the social distancing prescriptions. He stated that the Enforcement Committee of the Quarantine and Restriction of Movement Regulations 2020 have been mandated to enforce the directives. He said the Incident Management Committee will continue to meet daily to review and analyze the situation and provide necessary updates. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/akwa-ibom-denies-5-covid-19-cases.html&ved=2ahUKEwj0gL6HqMroAhWvyYUKHfnWDkIQFjALegQIEBAB&usg=AOvVaw0mZOKN9_Vxd5zcqv2tE1JT |

The minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige has asked unemployed graduates to invest their time in creative jobs instead of waiting on federal government for white collar jobs. According to a spokesman of the ministry, Charles Akpan, Ngige said this in Benin, Edo state, during a townhall meeting on popularisation of blue/green collar jobs among graduates of tertiary institutions, on Monday. Represented by Martina Nwordu, director of special duties and projects department in the ministry, Ngige advised the youth to look beyond government jobs. He said the richest youth in the world are not working for the government, but those involved in creative entrepreneurship. “The minister urged Nigerian youths to invest their talent in other job sectors, as the richest youth of the world, aged between 21 and 31 years, are not employees of government but smart entrepreneurs who distinguished themselves in creative skills in various areas,” Akpan said in a statement. “The minister disclosed that the purpose of the meeting, which held concurrently in four other geo-political zones of the federation, was to sensitise representatives of key stakeholders in graduate employment on the benefits of blue/green-collar jobs as an alternative response to the challenges of graduate unemployment.” Ngige asked stakeholders to cooperate with the government on the programme as it would also contribute to achieving the president’s promise to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years. http://community.vanguardngr.com/forum/topics/don-t-depend-on-us-for-jobs-fg-tells-nigerian-graduates |
A newly wedded man has thrown residents of Ebelle community in Edo State into a state of wonderment after he reportedly returned his wife to her parents days after tying the knot. His reasons? The woman’s vagina was too wide. According to the reports, seen in various online blogs, the man, identified as Osamudiame Iyobosa, told his in-laws his wife’s vagina will swallow him up if nothing is done about it. The man, who dropped his wife at her parents’ house in Ubiaja in a green coloured Golf 4, told his in-laws that many people must have slept with Edeki for her virginal to be that wide. The couple before now were living at the upper mission road in Benin city. It was said that Edeki was merely recommended to Iyobosa. However, a man who sells palm wine near Ubiaja market, reportedly admitted that the man may be right. According to him, Edeki was a well-known flirt in the neighbourhood and that no indigene would have married her. He said they were all surprised when Iyobosa came from Benin to marry her. Some young girls even started flirting saying that flirts are the most lucky ones using Edeki as an example of a lucky flirt.

Fellow nairalanders, how was your holiday, hope you had a fun filled holiday. For those that didn't l know you may have other things to celebrate. I traveled home and my parents were asking me about my plans to settle down, but I told them it's not yet time that God's time is the best. I'm 28yrs old and I don't see marriage as a necessity or an achievement. I just need time to work things out before getting married. So I want to ask, is marriage a necessity? Or is it an achievement? |
MorningstarL:You are a wise man, These posts are not for Nigerian men and women |
