Kobojunkie:
Probably never because he was the ambassador to Nigeria and that means he probably knows more of your country still and will be considered an "expert" on issues Nigeria for a long time to come, or until the current ambassador learns enough to replace him.

My point is, the man has a right to an opinion even in this. It is safe to say that Nigerians do not themselves know how things work in their own country. Look at the wiki-leaks revelations for one -- details how foreigners seem to have their fingers on the pulse of our own government.
Yes, unfortunately we have a largely unenlightened leadership and that scares me especially when an American "expert" keeps repeating the same kind of thoughts over and over.

Call me paranoid but, the United States have an history that "smart" people like you are all to aware of, forget conspiracy theories, I'm simply speaking of information released out of declassified US documents about America's roles in the disintegration of lesser nations. I fear for my country.

Unfortunately, You are mostly right about us. The leadership deficiency we suffer in Nigeria plus the ignorance of our people will probably do us more harm than anything Imperial USA can do.

Still, I'm wary of American foreign policy experts, Campbell is an expert all right. But He's also a career US foreign service pointman, interested in protecting his countries interests and propagating her worldview, I honestly cannot fault that. I can't. I will do the same if I were in his shoes. I just hope our decision makers and stakeholders realize that fact when they take his advice and read his analysis.

That was why I said: I can't wait for John Campbell to get off Nigeria's cork.

@Chrisbenogor, I agree. All of dem na the same, but having a strong opposition helps. I'm happy to see PDP lose some ground as long as our people's votes count.

Shekpe go do am, carry go!

@ Mariory I agree we should not derail the thread. We will have to agree to disagree. I believe they work for INEC on this one, INEC sends them to where security should be provided, this is INEC's election, Police and Soldiers  are "ordinary" security professionals, he's the civilian executive and this should be his call ultimately, that is how democracy should work.

Edit for Mariory
Politics › Re: Official Thread::: Delta State Election Rerun by Kilode1: 3:12am On Jan 07, 2011
Mariory:
You expected him to be walk round the entire State? The question you asked should be posed to the police instead.
NO, I expected him to have considered all the logistics neccesary, anticipate the rigging and provide necessary and reliable security for those corpers and his other officials, that was the job he signed up for.

And NO sir! I'm not absolving the police at all, I just chose not to mention those fo.ols at this time. JEGA should be on top of this and make sure the Police and army do their jobs. He's the Effiing chair of INEC.

Chrisbenogor:
Wow this was close but DPP would take this happily. No election in 1 unit because of no register, 22 units cancelled because of ballot snatching, corpers fought back to retrieve them. The female corpers were assaulted, they lost phones and jewelry.
That's very brave of them, if they actually did that.

I wonder what JEGA was doing riding yeye helicopter up and down when thugs were busy assaulting our children. No arrests?

Why the large difference between "Registered voters" and "Total votes cast." ?

Folks are either too scared to vote or were physically prevented from doing so, either way, any opposition party looking to dislodge the PDP still have a lot of work to do. I believe it's easier to rig the vote when very few people turn out.

Even AK-47 sef suppose fear massive mob. Opposition parties need to work harder at turning out the people.

@Oyb, a lot of folks only got to know Sanusi after he became CBN governor, those who followed his thoughts and writings before CBN will have little doubt about his convictions. Sanusi is one Nigerian you either like or hate. He writes and speaks with conviction IMO, I'm not surprised he's hated and celebrated at the same time, probably with equal measure.

Ola edo:
Obasanjo lamented the crises that have engulfed the South West zone of the party and urged the leadership of the party to take urgent measures to restore peace, “failing which the PDP faces a challenge of exodus of members,” Obasanjo said.
To where? undecided

According to party sources, he singled out the killing of the PDP factional leader of the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Lateef Salako (Eleweomo) warning that it was time for the party to stand up and take drastic measures so as to avoid a recurrence which would give the opposition room to castigate PDP.
Eeya, how cute. Bleeding heart OBJ cry

He alerted the leadership of the party to the threat of the rival Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) that has claimed some states in the South West and other political parties making inroad into the area stressing that “if we don’t wake up, things may become difficult for us a party in the zone.”
Buhahahahhahah grin grin

After the meeting, Obasanjo refused to respond to questions asked by journalists on his mission to the party headquarters until when asked: “Are you still laughing?”
HAHAHAHA  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

As at the time of filing this report, the meeting was ongoing while the Oyo delegation was still waiting for its turn of the meeting. Among the Oyo delegation were former governor, Omololu Olunloyo, deputy governor, Taofik Arapaja; former military governor of Lagos State, Brig. Gen. Raji Rasaki (rtd); Sola Filani and former minister of Justice, Richard Akinjide, among others.

When I wrote of iron hands, did I mention that they have to come from a millitary regime? The fact that my opinion differs from yours does not make you brainless or brighter than me. I suggest that you learn to accept the fact that there will always be people with different opinions from yours and learn to respectfully differ from them, or learn to agree to disagree, without being disagreeable. I stand by every word I wrote in that post. olodo[/quote]Re-read my short comment and read yours again.

ndu_chucks, I have no problem with oppressed Nigerians, my issue is with rulers and self appointed saviours like Jubril Aminu and his ilk who act like Nigeria is their fiefdom.

Yes, you said "you people need Iron hands" in my opinion, that suggests you support a strong center ruled by a dictator, benevolent or not, military, monarchy or civilian, It does not matter. I disagreed with that idea by giving a few examples of leaders who ruled us with "iron hands" while achieving zilch and I also stressed that we've had leaders like them since 1966 -I believe that covered more than military rulers- It includes civilians like Shagari and OBJ(strong center leaders)

So, I too stand by what I wrote sir and I'll urge you to take your own advice since I fail to see how I disrespected YOU, while on the other hand, your own reply betrayed a poorly veiled condescension [indicated by the words in bold]. We can agree to disagree on that though.
