If God created man and the same God created food.
And everything created by God is good.
Tell me: why should man deprive himself of God's goodness (food) in order to please God ?

It then follows that if deprivation of food is necessary to be closer to God, then either:
Food is not good.
Man is not good.
Or God is not good.
