presidency: STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
PRESIDENT BUHARI COMMENDS ECONOMIC TEAM, WANTS NIGERIA’S QUICK EXIT FROM UNDER-DEVELOPMENT
President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Abuja appreciated the outstanding support and guidance provided by the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) which he described as a “tutorial,” urging the members to do more to help the country exit “our very terrible state of development.”
Speaking during a virtual audience with members of the PEAC, the President said: “We are a country characterised by a large population of poor people, serious infrastructure deficit, lack of housing and a vulnerable economy now haunted by the COVID-19 pandemic and collapse of the oil sector and its effect on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”
The PEAC, while making a presentation to President Buhari, had commended the administration for implementing several of its recommendations, even as it presented the government with a number of tough choices to make in order to put the country’s economy on a higher growth path.
The Chairman of PEAC, Prof. Doyin Salami, who led the presentation, specifically expressed delight with the ongoing review of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2020 Budget in view of the disruptions caused by COVID-19; the deregulation of the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS); approval for the implementation of the Oronsaye Report on the need to rationalise and restructure federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), as well as the adjustment of the exchange rate of the Naira.
He however, noted that more needed to be done to increase efficiency, coordination and accountability on the part of MDAs.
The PEAC welcomed the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) produced by the Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) headed by Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and adopted by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), but warned that in the implementation of the N2.3 trillion spending plan, there could arise a number of problems which if unattended, could hamper smooth implementation.
The Committee advised among others, that the ESP should be implemented using existing institutional and administrative structures; attention be paid to sources of funding to avoid inflation; ensure that priorities, targets and time limits be set for all projects to make for their completion within the 12-month life-span of the ESP, and where this is not achieved, such projects should be rolled into the new Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP II).
The PEAC recommended that the ESP must promote “export-oriented production strategies;” ensure the use of local resources; curtail post-harvest losses in agriculture now put at between 40-60 per cent and above all, the need to make the economy attractive to “non-debt” private sector-funded investment in order to cut the rising cost of debt services.
Other recommendations included the need to embark on mass housing schemes to create jobs financed through a Public Private Partnership arrangement; the urgent need to move away from multiple exchange rates to a unified currency exchange rate, and to do all that is necessary to continue to ease the environment of doing business in the country.
President Buhari accepted the immediate need to activate the proposal by the PEAC on the Public Policy Coordinating office under the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as he gave further assurances that “we will continue to listen to you and do our best.”
Other members of the PEAC are Dr Mohammed Sagagi – Vice-Chairman; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; Prof. Ode Ojowu: Dr Shehu Yahaya; Dr Iyabo Masha; Mr Bismarck Rewane and Dr Mohammed Salisu – member/Secretary.

UDOKABESTLUV: A Nigerian man simply identified as Femi, stabbed his wife to death, and thereafter committed suicide in their home in Victory Park estate in Lagos state on Sunday, June 21.
According to residents of the estate, the couple moved into the estate three weeks ago with their two young children. Not much was known about the couple but just a day before the murder-suicide, they were spotted jogging together on Saturday night June 20.
However, on Sunday, the man who is said to have always questioned the paternity of their second child, stabbed his wife to death, and then took his own life.
A neighbor who spoke on condition of anonymity to LIB, said
On Sunday afternoon, neighbors close to the couple’s apartment heard loud music emanating from their home and this lasted for many hours.
The neighbors went to the estate office to complain about the loud music and insisted the estate officials go there and caution the couple.
The estate authorities went to the couple’s compound to appeal to them to turn down the volume of the music coming from their apartment.
They however met with the wife’s sister who was downstairs with the couple’s children. The sister immediately went upstairs so she can inform her sister and the husband about the complaint laid by the estate authorities. She knocked several times but got no response.
After waiting for so long, the sister and the estate officials decided to pull the door down. They were greeted by a horrific sight.
Apparently, the man had killed his wife. It is believed it was pre-meditated because when they got into the room, they saw different kinds of knives there. The woman’s legs and hands were bound and her mouth shut with a cellotape. The husband used a clipper to shave her hair, stabbed her head, her eyes, stabbed her multiple times with different knives.
The scene was nothing short of a horror movie.
After stabbing his wife to death, the man committed suicide by drinking sniper”
Spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana who confirmed the incident to LIB, said
It is true. Homicide detectives have sealed up the place. They have commenced investigation. The corpse of the man and the woman have been moved to the hospital for an autopsy.
Two kitchen knives were found there and two bottles of Sniper. The woman had injuries from stabbing while foams were coming out of the man’s mouth who is suspected to have taken those Snipers.
Investigation is ongoing”

ProfDview1: Sometimes I don't get, you guys married you love each other but You beat your wife, she in turns reciprocate.. Is love lost after marriage??
Apart from being married, a neighbor friend of mine and his gf fight sometimes.. If it was just an abuse, it would have been okay but it is always physical... The lady can curse and the guy too is not sensible at all, he will lock door and start beating her.... I don't talk with the lady coz I don't like her personally but I hate the fact that the guy beats her... The mumu lady too is living with him and they ain't married.... In the late night, they will fight and in the morning, they will be laughing..
I am just bothered, though I don't like the lady but I feel so bad when I hear them fighting and I hear her voice of pain.. She wouldn't leave, they will still laugh again... As in physical fight oooo, I am not happy at all
Why do couple in marriage engage in physical fight?? It's called " misunderstanding " |

The fact dat they dwelt on availability and non availability shows there is more to this that meets d eyes. Oga how do you manage to comment before the post. U be witch?? |

Iamgrey5: A thunderstorm has killed 18 suspected kidnappers at a forest in Adamawa State.
Sources said the men of the underworld were sharing ransom money they got from their victims when the thunder struck them.
The incident occurred within the Toungo Local Government Area of the state, local sources said.
Toungo is a town and local government area in the southern part of Adamawa State on the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
“The bandits, it was gathered, had collected over N20 million from their wealthy victims between Koncha in Cameroon and Toungo in Nigeria,” a source in Toungo said.
According to the source, the suspected kidnappers met their end because angry victims went spiritual against them.
“Angered by incessant attacks by the kidnappers, community leaders and victims consulted a native doctor to send thunder after the bandits. They met their Waterloo when they gathered to share the money,” the source said, adding that local hunters could not retrieve their corpses nor their money inside some bags as well as their weapons.
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said Friday morning that the incident actually happened within Cameroon soil near the border with Nigeria.
“We heard that the victims engaged the services of a native doctor, but it was said to have occurred in the neighbouring Cameroon, which is not under our jurisdiction,” Nguroje said
