Some kids used a stone to draw what was supposed to be a very large dog or horse on my car..

When I identified the kids, I went and met their parents and told them what their kids had done and that i would really appreciate it if they make their kids understand that a car is not a blackboard to be written or drawn or scratched on ....I even offered to buy the kids a blackboard the next day...

Parents shockingly went all Rambo on me, telling me how children are a blessing from God and how any God-fearing person will not stop kids from being kids...They even asked me how much my car was worth sef that I will not let them and their kids hear word...they made out of me a Satan who wants to dampen their kids enjoyment of life simply because they scratched my Jalopy...

I quietly left their house and filed a criminal case against both parents and their kids (with their parents as their guardians) in court for trespass, criminal intimidation and damage to property and conspiracy, aiding and abetting their kids to commit these offences...Cumulatively, the prison term upon conviction for these offences is about 7 years each for each parent...

I further filed a civil case against them for negligence, claiming against them a total bodywork and repainting of my car at Elizade, and 10 million naira General Damages...

In the criminal case, both parents had to sleep in prison for a weekend as they could not perfect the bail conditions issued by the Judge. ..They even hired a lawyer who came and denied that it was their kids who damaged my car...

Unfortunately for them, I had phone call recordings of them admitting their kids did it, and I should do my worst...

Long story short, they went and begged our estate residents' association to come and beg me to forgive. ..last last, before i withdrew both cases against them, they refunded me all the expenses I had incurred in prosecuting the case against them and still paid for a full bodywork and paint of my car at one Kazeem's place...and he did a very nice Job...

Now their kids don't even scratch the compound gate or even wall .....

And to imagine a simple "I am sorry for this...I will make sure my kids don't do such again" would have saved them all these wahala...

Kids are kids...agreed...but as their parent or guardian, one has a duty to make sure they do not damage people's property

Oh i agree with you completely. Compared to the competition, any Lexus will perform better. However, I've heard some funny stories that can be traced down to where the vehicle was manufactured.

Just like the German cars. There is no denying that Mercedes built in Germany is more reliable than that built in the US.

Again, yours was imported from Canada doesn't necessary mean it was manufactured there o. be sure

Bros, its a Lexus. You can hardly go wrong with it. Unless you buy one that has been bastardized by the former owner.
I have a friend that owns a 2013 GS 350. he has had it for 4 years and only changed battery once, alternator(which i believe he was scammed. nothing wrong with the original), stab linkage. Best car he ever owned. GS and ES aren't far apart and i believe the run similar engines.

Mostly, ensure it is "Made in Japan". I don't really trust the ones assembled in the US. The Japanese just do it better.

Then kingreign is right, your fuel consumotion is a little bit on the high side. Even though there a lot of variables, I was able to estimate your usage to 18mpg.

You should get it into a shop for checks before you pull the plug

I drive to and from my workplace everyday for the past one month (from home to work is 30 to 35mins drive on a free way), some days I make this trips thrice in a day and some days once and sometimes twice.
But I still find its gas gulping very outrageous.

Hi Lexus club.
I needed mobility and settled for a 99|2000 Lexus rx300 in January.
Then I packed her for 3months and in Oct 15 started to use her again.
It's being a month of driving long distance everyday for the past one month and I have gased her a total of 50 to 60k.
I find this very ridiculous and to think I dare not use my AC otherwise I would pay maybe twice that for gas.


Anyway long story short, she's up for sale. I want to settle for a Corolla.

Also anyone knows if this gas gulping possession of the rx300 can be tammed? It's so unfair on me, no AC Usage yet I pay so much for gas.

I'm looking to go on a road trip with my wife for some days.
When I say a road trip, I don't mean traveling like every other, we just want to travel around some places in Nigeria, know new places and have fun.
This is something I've never done before but I'm hoping it goes well.
On the car part, I have a stable 2007 Honda Accord Europe spec (doesn't have ball joint issues and it barely develop any fault)

I live in the south west and I'm looking at going to Abuja, then Sokoto then Kaduna then maybe visit some areas in the north-east too.

I don't know if there are people on nairaland that have gone on road trips before. Please share your experience and the pros/cons of taking a road trip in Nigeria.

Good evening Lexus community members, my 2007 ES350 selects only gear 1&2 mostly, but could also behave well sometimes. What could be the problem?
Two different gearbox specialist said the fiber is burnt, one suggested I change gearbox and one said he will fix the fiber issue for me, that he has mastered everything about the fiber.
What do you guys think I should do and any idea of the current price of the gearbox
