My cousin went to USA in 2015 at Age 30. When asked about her plans for marriage, she said she would marry a white man. As at 2020, she was still single. Her parents were asking her if every white man in a group picture with her is her fiance and she said "No". Last year babe came to Nigeria codedly and got married to the only of her ex-boyfriends who is unmarried. I was lucky to be there at the wedding, when asked why she no marry Oyinbo, she said "God forbid". It is obvious it is much easier for a Nigerian man to marry a white woman than for a Nigerian woman to marry a white man. Even if the latter happens, it rarely does last long. |

I almost lost a loved one to drug addiction last year. He was into crystal meth and crack. Created a topic here on how we could tackle the issue. https://www.nairaland.com/7239715/how-one-stop-loved-onesIt was the grace of God that he didn't die of overdose. He was forced to get rehab. People are dying of drug addiction. Families out of shame are hiding the fatalities of their children dying. We need to spread the word, drug addiction is real and turning our youths into zombies. God bless Buba Marwa. |

As a president of a country, inaction cannot be tolerated. Yeah we know Buhari is not killing Christians but lack of decisive actions to stop the bandits and herdsmen made the government seem like an enabler. Unfortunately, APC will lose a lot of votes in Benue, Taraba, Kaduna and Plateau states. |

gidgiddy: Nigeria is one funny place. Its a place where a man conducts a coup kills over 300 people, conducts a second coup, seizes power, and the country honours the blood stained coup plotter by giving him a place of honour on the national currency, name Airports, highways and buildings after him.
Incredible Simon Bolivar committed atrocious crimes. The Nation - Bolivia is named after him. Take a chill pill. |
Politics › Re: The Bloodiest Coup Plotter In Nigeria's History Is One Of The Most Honoured Men by kingthreat(m): 4:16pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
gidgiddy: Dont deviate from what is being talked about here. How come Nigeria honoured Murtala Mohammed for doing what they vilify and accuse Nzeogwu of doing?
Should Nzeogwu be put on the 50 Naira note? Murtala was put on the 20 Naira note Your tribal sentiments voids the logic in your opinions. Muritala was greatly honored basically because he was assassinated. His regime was popular among big guns then and he was loved by many hence his accolades. Just like JFK has been greatly honored after his assassination. If you want to honor Nzeogwu, kindly go to Sokoto and erect a statue to honor him. Infact when you want to do it, drop your account number I will fund the project. However, my above opinion does not change the fact that Muritala Mohammed failed woefully in letting troops under his watch execute the Asaba massacre. That singular incidence should deny him of National Honors as the victims of the massacre were actually shouting "One Nigeria". That was a sad story in Nigeria's history and this country must apologize to the people of Asaba for such tragedy. |
Politics › Re: The Bloodiest Coup Plotter In Nigeria's History Is One Of The Most Honoured Men by kingthreat(m): 3:58pm On Jan 17, 2023 |
gidgiddy: Coups and coup plotters should be roundly condemned by all. To sieze power by the barrel of the gun has no place in modern society.
But a situation where some coup plotters are vilified, while others are honoured, leaves much to be desired. Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu has been in the News lately on the anniversary of him leading Nigerias first coup. Some have called him names and even put an ethnic tag to that coup because he is Igbo. Nzeogwu's coup claimed about 20 lives
What some people may not know is that Nigerias bloodiest coup plotter, the man who led Nigerias second coup that claimed well over 300 lives, is today one of the most honoured men in the country
General Murtala Mohammed led Nigeria's second coup, he is the only Nigerian to have led two different coups. His first coup targeted Southerners, mainly Igbos, and spared his fellow Northerners. His coup killed over 300 people including the Head Of State, Aguiyi Ironsi, as well as the Military Governor of the Western Region, Lt Colonel Fajuyi.
Despite being the Bloodiest coup plotter in Nigeria's history, Murtala Mohammed has Airports, Highways, landmarks and even lectures named after him. Murtala Mohammed was even put on the 20 Naira note, an honour countries of the world usually give to their greatest citizens
How did the bloodiest coup plotter in Nigeria's history become one of its most honoured men? Is it because he is a Northerner? You Igbos sef. It is only when you are touched that you cry foul. But when your tribe is guilty you look for a 100 reasons to exonerate them. The Muritala coup that installed Gowon would never have happened if the Nzeogwu coup did not take place. Nzeogwu blindly killed strong Northerners and expected zero retaliation. Imagine an Igbo killing Buhari or a Hausa killing Peter Obi, you know the hundreds if not thousands of lives that will pay the price? |

PatrickOkunima: As a parent, you have done what you believe to be best for your kids. That's all that matters. However, a child that will go bad will go bad, irrespective of how he or she is brought up. The same private uni students, if you know what these guys practice, you will be shocked. The evil you're trying to protect them against thrives in private unis, even worse e.g. sodomy, drug abuse and cultism. May God save us from bad children.
This particular incident is devastating to me on a personal level. I served with Lt. Cdr. AH Yusuf onboard the same ship, NNS Ofiom. That was between 2009 and 2010. He was my WEO and Divisional Officer. He was a very good officer and does not deserve this kind of death. No one does. The last time I saw him was in January 2016, when I was doing my discharge routine at Point Road, Apapa, after my voluntary retirement from the Nigerian Navy. Jokingly, he said, "Okunima, you are not going anywhere. Who told you you can leave the service when I'm still here?" May his soul rest in peace - Amen. Thanks for sharing the memory of the good man. He didn't deserve this kind of death. I have read deep about this story and it points to drugs influenced, heard the son is a drug addict. You are right about private universities. They are a breeding ground for drug addicts, and high class runs girls. There is a saying that while you're praying for children, pray for the good ones. RIP to the commander. I feel like cursing anyone who blames him for being killed by his son. |

Lifestone: I'm a parent. The place of home training can't be replaced with only prayer, that's my point. For instance you will see parents sending their children to Western world at very young age like 14 years to 16years and losing them to drugs, or sending a 14year child to the University, what do they know at that age. Train them and then pray My point exactly. Train them then pray too. The one that is more inclined to stubbornness watch him/her closely. It is those ones that could give in to rebelious vices in the society that are out to get them. God help us. |

Lifestone: What are you saying? The role of training is also very critical, even God admonish you to train your Child and spare not the rod. Once you miss molding these kids while they are still young, it's regrets that will end it I doubt if you have been with children as a guardian or a parent yet. I pray you will so you can understand that no matter the training, every child chooses his path. I had one of the best Christian upbringing but I have had threeesomes with many girls. I have seen pastors children do drugs I have seen children who grew up in the seminary become feared cultists I have seen girls from noble background become prostitutes. There are two influences, family and societal. If we don't do something about societal ills like drugs, cultism, fraud, more stories like this are bound to happen. By the way, the boy was said to be a renowned drug addict. |
