PoliticsRe: Nigeria Not Your Conquered Territory, Ohanaeze Tells Northern Leaders by kingzizzy: 1:48pm On May 03, 2017
omooba969:
Your submission is riddled with contradictions.

You mentioned that Odimegwu DECLARED Biafra simply because Yakubu failed to meet the provisions of the Aburi agreement. I need not lecture you that Yakubu had a duty/responsibility to protect & uphold the territorial integrity of a young country (9ja). Ojukwu only showcased how unwise he was by his actions because Gowon's attitude to the Aburi accord was all that was needed in order to know what Ojukwu had in mind. Odimegwu played into their hands & his people paid the price as a result of his foolishness.

Back to the question on who started the war in which your innocent children died - you know the answer already. The same mistake Ojukwu made is being repeated by kanu. You can't be doing the same thing & expect a different result.

Gowon reneged on agreement & Ojukwu declared secession - is that not a disproportionate response? Please what would you do if you were Gowon? How would you have advised Odimegwu? What would be the appropriate thing to do in light of Gowon's attitude to the Aburi accord?
You are blaming Ojukwu for starting the war but cannot say anything concrete to that effect.

Yes it is true that it was Gowons duty to protect the territorial intergrity of Nigeria, however, it was not a must he had to do it through war. There are several ways of protecting the territorial intergrity of cou try without going to war. Gowon could have used dialogue, he could have used negotiation, he could even have used referendum. Of all the possible peaceful alternatives, Gowon chose war as his first resort istead of his last resort.

During Obasunjos civilian tenure, Nigeria did not need to go to war with Cameroon over Bakassi. Obasunjo resorted to peaceful means first and the matter was settled in court.

But when a person like Gowon rushes to war, it means he is not a man of peace.

Gowon broke the Aburi agreement, Gowon declared war, Gowon fired first.

Gowon caused the war

nnamdi kanu was released on health grounds but he dosent look like a sick person. kanu has been moving around nigeria meeting ffk iboe senators politicians etcetera. i wonder why nnamdi has not met with market leaders traders labourers people that fought for his freedom. these people lost their families while fighting for nnamdi . why will a sick man be touring around the country he called a zoo

the people whom were charged along with nnamdi are still rotting in prison. some protesters are in police cells have died

i feel sorry for gullible iboes who put their hope in kanu
Everyone is going crazy in Afonja kingdom over Nnamdi Kanu.

Your Nigerian Government went on killing spree of unarmed people, instead of you to call them out on their evil actions, you are busy calling Nnamdi Kanu who just left prison

Kindly get yourself acquainted with the trend of events during the said period, @least help yourself with some books ok. cool
I've read many books on the Biafran war and I can tell you that Gowon caused the war 100% and I can prove it with these 3 points.

1)Gowon caused the war by breaking the Aburi agreement he signed in Ghana with Ojukwu. It was the breaking of the peace agreement by Gowon that left Ojukwu with no choice than to declare Biafra.

2)Gowon declared 'Police action' (which was same as war) because Ojukwu declared Biafra. Had Gowon been a man of peace, he would have explored peaceful alternatives first before rushing to war. He could have negotiated with Ojukwu, who knows? Maybe Ojukwu would have dropped Biafra and returned to the Aburi agreement. Gowon never gave peace a chance.

3) Gowon fired first on Biafra. Gowon and the Nigerian Army fired first on the Biafran border town of Gakem in Ogoja on 6th of July 1967 which officially started the war

These 3 points prove without a shadow of a doubt that Gowon caused the war 100%

Some people are very foolish! You are shouting restructuring! Restructuring! And yet you want to do 'one Nigeria' with the same North that have vowed never to allow restructuring! I laugh in Igbo. There will be no restructuring in 'one Nigeria'. The North control over 60% of votes at the National Assembly, so how will the south ever make restrcturing happen when they need 67% of the votes? What magic will they do?

The only way to get restructuring/ true federalism/ Regionalism is by dividing Nigeria!

Anything outside this is wishful thinking! Biafra is the only way out of Northern domination.

The betrayal started when somebody colluded with the North to reject the the insertion of the "right to secede from NIGERIA"
It continued with the the clownish behaviour and agenda of some chest beaters at the London constitutional conference where you colluded with the the North to remove Lagos from South West against our stand.
it continued when some people out of jealousy colluded again with the North to railroad Awolowo into jail.
It continued again in 1966 when you killed Yoruba Premier, Northern Premier and other noneastern leaders while Zik and the eastern Premier were hurried to safety in Czech republic.
You think you can come and lecture us here.
Arrant Nonsense
And yet, you people will still shout 'one Nigeria' the loudest tomorow.

Of course you stole your nationality! The word 'Nigerian' was first used by Flora Shaw (Lugards future wife) when she worked as a journalist with a London based newspaper. She later passed the name to Lugard. So how are you answering a name that was invented in London by Europeans? You stole the name they invented, you stole the country they created.

You 'Nigerians' are quite lucky that Lugard and his wife are dead. If they were alive, the could have taken you all to court for copyright theft.

Dont derail this wonderful thread! We are discussing the LOVE, FFK has for Ndigbo..
That was back in the day when FFK was still a Northern slave. Back then, he had not yet been arrested and thrown into jail for 3 months, back then, he had not yet found love with an Igbo woman. Back then, APC had not dealt with him and reset his brain. After they finished with him, he saw the light.

Today, FFK is a champion of self determination. He is one of the few Yoruba men who openly talks about Yorubas seceding from Nigera. The scales finally fell from FFK's eyes and he saw that "one Nigeria" is just a big scam just like Ojukwu and Nnamdi Kanu saw.

It's like you need a microscope to look at that map well.
Guess you ain't seeing the SS states on the boundaries of all those tributaries that link the rivers you mentioned to the Atlantic.

I guess you are blind to Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

Ships heading for Biafra will fly over these ND/SS states and land on your waterways then sail from there grin grin grin
The River Niger is an international waterway. Nobody can lay claim to it or its tributaries. So it doesnt matter through whose lands it flows through, anyone can use it. That is international law

If it were not for this, countries like Guinea, Mali and Benin would have claimed ownership of the River Niger because the River flows through those countries before it gets to Nigeria.

So it doesnt matter if the River Niger flows infront of your house, it can be used by anyone who it flows through their land as well. You can claim the land but the water belongs to nobody

Secondary, IPOB became vocal when PDP lost election in 2015, I have asked most of my friends who preach biafrasm, I am yet to get a convised answer to that. Why wouldn't IPOB became incline when Jonathan was the president as he is a "biafran" according their claim. That was when he would have yielded to the aspirations and plea of his people if it were genuin, instead of clamouring for Biafra when you know very well that the president of the country can not yield to that. Is that not an illusion?
Listen man, it doesnt matter if IPOB was founded because GEJ lost the elections or because it didnt Snow in Sokoto. What matters is if the people are ready to exit Nigeria. You think anyone asked Scotland why the want to leave Britain? There given a referendum. You think anyone asked Britain why they want to leave the European Union?

Who people want to leave an organisation is not important, what is important is that their right to leave is respected.

Why comparing European countries with Nigeria. Can you compare Singapore with Nepal which is a landlocked country, or Lesotho with Tunisia.
You are missing the point. The point is that if there is vision, a country can be like any in Europe, wether landlocked or not.

I trust my fellow Igbos, we work hard, we are enterprising and we are visionary people. The only problem has been that Igbos have not been in control of their politics and economy.

We will make a success of Biafra even if Biafra is just the 5 Igbo states and anyone who thinks we are landkocked is dreaming. Onitsha has a River port, another River port can be built in Oguta and Another in Obuaku in Abia. Onitsha, Oguta and Obuaku have tributuaries running to the Athlantic Ocean. I even heard that there is another tributuary somewhere in Ebonyi.

We shall be fine in Biafra
PoliticsRe: Possibility Of Biafra Surviving On Their Own by kingzizzy: 7:46am On May 02, 2017
MosesIgb:
There have been an increase in the agitation of the Biafra to secede from the country and many Igbos are now having the mindset of their self survival. But there is an important question that comes to mind and which is:

What is the possibility of the Igbos surviving on their own faced with many challenges like, been landlocked and with limited landmass?

In my own opinion, the Igbos are creative people but the possibility of them surviving without a port would weaken the industrial drive they are known for. Some people would still say it still possible. But let's ask ourselves, which industrial country or giant is landlocked in the world? I would say none. This is because being landlocked is a limiting factor to major industrialization and this is due to the lack of a seaport.

The other challenge which is the limited landmass is a major setback to the actualization of Biafra. This is because we have a large population of Igbos in other parts of Nigeria and if they go back home the land and resources would be limited for their survival.

So for the actualization of Biafra, they need the support of other coastal tribes which may seem impossible or hard to achieve.
Switzerland is a small landlocked country of just 8 million people. Switzerland has no oil but is far richer than Nigeria. Just the money Switzerland makes from financial services alone is more than what Nigeria makes in Oil sales.

Austria is a small landlocked country but is richer than Nigeria

So it is not about having land mass and Sea port, it is about having vision.

NIgeria has huge land mass and several sea ports but there is no vision which is why the masses are suffering.

FFK said a lot of terrible things about Igbos, he blamed them for the first coup and even said that the Igbos wanted to take over "Nigerias Oil"

He also claimed that Bianca Ojukwu used to be his girlfriend, who cares? Even I writting this can claim to have once been Remi Tinubu's lover, how many people would care?

The only resonating factor with FFK is that he has come to see what Ojukwu saw a long time ago. That Nigeria cannot work as a nation

Hausa/Yoruba/Igbo do not love each other, so where is this Nigerian nation going to come from? The grave of Lord Lugard?

OTgenasis:
I am a product of an intertribal marriage (Yoruba and Igbo) and I remember someone once made jest of me that if Biafra should secede from Nigeria, my parents will have to share me in to two...lol.
When Biafra becomes a country, you will become a dual citizen of Biafra and Nigeria. It is not a must that a persons parents must come from the same country.

On a more serious note, I heard Nigeria once practiced regional government whereby each region controls the resources of that area. And then there will be a central government that will oversee affairs from the top.

Now my question to fellow nairalanders is this.....What do you guys think of this regional government stuff? Is it the right system for our beloved country? I'm asking because me i dey fear war oh. And I don't see Mr Nnamdi ever backing out. So what do you guys think?
Regionalism is a good thing, Nigeria started off as a country of 3 regions. Later, a 4th Region known as the midwest was created. The 4 Regions were later abolished by Gowon and 12 created which later grew to 36.

However, the truth us that Regionalism/ true federalism/resource control is gone from Nigeria forever. The North will never allow it and they control over 60% of the votes at the National Assembly. It is only at the National Assembly that Regionalism or true federalism can be effected.

That is why anyone who wishes to control their resources or their economic and political future should think seriously about leaving Nigeria.

That is why Biafra is the only way out for Igbos and some of the minorities of Southern Nigeria. Only Biafra can guarantee true federalism and resource control. Anyone who prefares to continue with 'one Nigeria' should forget true federalism/Regionalism/resource control

Fratermathy what do you have to say about this video
Kanu said that he supports Edo joining Biafra but on the condition that they change their political system or 'Oba' because it is is not in tandem with the rest of Biafra.

Binis have one paramount ruler, the Oba of Bini. All other ethnic nationalities in Biafra do not have a paramount ruler. Ijaws have no paramount ruler, Igbos have no paramount ruler, Efiks have no paramount ruler etc.

All in all Edo state is not part of Biafra except the 6 villages that make up Igbank community.
