*Mirrage Suicide Bombing Contrary to widespread belief that most of the bombings by the Boko Haram sect are carried out by suicide bombers, it has been revealed that the sect currently at the receiving end of military actionin Borno Yobe and Adamawa states does not employ such tactic. A source close to the leadership ofthe murderous sect, which has acquired notoriety for its mindlesskillings of innocent Nigerians in the northern part of the country, employs deceptive tactics in bombing of targets with its members sent on such assignments used as Guinea pigs. “Nigerians have been fooled for a long time into thinking that the sect carries out spectacular suicide bombings. That thinking is very far from the reality on ground and has been encouraged by reports in the media and as well by the circumstances surrounding some of the bombings carried out by the group,” our source said. “The truth, however, is, even some of the bombers are sent to their death without them knowing so. What actually happens is that on such missions there is what you may call division of labour along the line. From the time a target is selected up till the execution of the assignment, different individuals who are unknown to each other play the different roles assigned tothem. For instance, on an assignment, one person acquires the vehicle, another person wires it with explosives and then another individual drives the vehicle to the place targeted for destruction,” the source added. Hesaid the final link in the chain is the individual who finally detonates the bomb. “You see, the whole thing is carefully planned and the drivers of the vehicles who are paid between N20,000 and N30,000 to drive the vehicle to the target for destruction, do not know they are driving to their deaths. Once they get to the assigned destination, they place a call indicating that they have arrived. Thereafter, the final link in the chain is activated. Upon receiving the call, the man with the detonator carries out his mission and then the driver and the vehicle go up in explosion,” hesaid. The bomb blast at a bus terminal in Kano this year lends credence to this. Eyewitnesses confirmed that shortly before the blast, which claimed dozens of lives, a white Volkswagen Golf car, was seen parked in between two luxury buses filled with passengers and bound for the southern part of the country. Witnesses said one of the occupants of the vehicles was talking on phone when the bomb went off blasting the vehicle and the luxury buses around it to pieces. Even the bombing of the Police Headquarters in Abuja in 2011 followed a similar pattern. In the case of the bombing of the United Nations (UN) office in Abuja, the extensive damage wrought on the facilities arose because the sect had somehow managed to breach security and had planted bombs within the building. Our source said the mythof Boko Haram engaging in suicide bombings has helped the sect maintain a larger than life image and to consolidate its power in the areas it had controlled until President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States.

Thank P. A b.itch i brought home last nite made away with loads of my cash. Feeling very uncreative rite now. |
"Evening Sir." I heard my father curtly blurt out. I returned my gaze to level and noticed a man sitting in a chair not too far from me. "Aha, Welcome. I have been expecting you since. This is almost 4pm." The Man Whom i now believed must be the Oga replied. He was very thin with large eyes barely covered by rimless glasses. he wore a simple T-shirt and navy coloured shorts and held a newspaper or a magazine in one hand. "I wanted you to finish that job today. I dont want it prolonged." He said again with intermittent stares between his paper and my dad. "Sir, I ll finish everything today sir." Was my fathers apologetic reply. "Hmmmmmm." "Good Evening Sir." my voice sounded strange and foreign. I guess it was a result of the fear of finally coming face to face with the dreaded Oga and the chilling cold that was by now unmercifully penetrating the thin fabric of the faded shirt I had on. The Oga was far from what I expected, he looked sick or malnourished. He raised his gaze on hearing my voice, and promptly returned to his reading without a response to my greeting. My dad was already walking toward the inner part of the house and I followed suit. |
short but consistent updates, thats the plan till i can get something with a keyboard. Bear with me |
We had been walking in the late evening sun, the sun was at an angle and the heat was quite bearable. I had been totally unprepared for the colossal shift in temperature when I stepped through the door of the Oga's house. It was as if I had walked into a giant refrigerator. I flinched at the sudden change in temperature and instinctively and naively looked towards the ceiling to see what brand or make of fan was producing this kind of cool, no freezing temperature. The fan was quite different, unlike the white and rusting one we had at home, the one on the ceiling was brownish in colour with flowery designs on the blade and a mini chandelier attached to the round part at the middle. From my restricted knowledge, I concluded that there must be a different source for this unnatural and localized harmattan. |
**Confrontation with serial church robbers: Fear of God meant nothing to us! **Will a man rob God? … – Malachi 3:8 To Akinbode Theophilus (30),Waidi Folorunso (27) and Wasiu Olusola (31), the answer to the question above is possibly, yes. They are in police net accused of robbing a church, among others. The robbed church is located at Ijegun-Ikotun, Lagos. And it wasn’t only once that the church was robbed. Robbers attacked the church on three separate occasions during which they carted away items, the most valuable of which were musical instruments valued at hundreds of thousands of Naira. The musical instruments were believed tobe the target of the robbers and the other items, secondary. The trio of Theophilus, Folorunso and Olusola were said to have confessed to police interrogators that they were behind the serial robbery attacks on the church. Sources close to the interrogators also quoted the suspects as admitting to carrying out attacks on some other churches in Lagos and Ibadan. God, in Malachi 3:8, puts those robbing him, this timeof tithes and offerings, undera curse. If it is proven that Theophilus, Folorunso and Olusola carried out the church robberies, then they may never escape the curse of God; unless theyseek genuine repentance. The suspects arrest is as dramatic as it is mysterious. Many attributed it to nemesisand God at work. They had allegedly broken into the headquarters of the Kingdom Zone of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ifelodun Street, Ijegun – Ikotun in the early hours of April 5, 2013. They entered the church auditorium, broke the iron cage inside which the musical instruments were secured and removed them. Not done yet, they broke intothe church offices and ransacked them, apparently looking for cash and valuables. Two of them – Theophilus and Folorunso- allegedly chartered a tricycle to conveytheir loot and had successfully escaped from the area. The suspects were said to be transferring the musical instruments from thetricycle into another one at Ikotun roundabout, some five kilometers from scene ofrobbery – around 5 a.m. – when a police patrol team noted their suspicious movements and accosted them. A police source said they toldthe patrol team they were musicians coming from a night engagement. Not convinced, the police team, led by one Inspector Ahmed, reportedly, asked the suspects to take them to the venue of the engagement to confirm their story. Then, onclose scrutiny of the musical instruments, the policemen found the name of the church engraved on them. The game was up. Folorunso allegedly tried to bolt away. He knocked down one of thepolicemen in the process. But as he dashed across the road, an oncoming tricycle knocked him down, instantly demobilising him. Both suspects – Theophilus and Folorunso – were arrested and taken to the scene of robbery. They allegedly confessed to the crime and told the police that they had another colleague working with them. The suspects also allegedly named a marketer at Oshodi who had been helping them to sell their loot. The two suspects were held at IkotunDivisional Police Station. Some officers at the station gave the credit for the arrest to the DPO, CSP Austines Akika, who, according to them, insists on ridding the area of criminal elements.. Items allegedly recovered from the suspects were the church musical instruments, a saw, two iron bars, a master key and a padlock. Theophilus an Folorunso were later taken to the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja where further investigations yielded the arrest of the third suspect, Olusola. Olusola is said to be an ‘insider’ in the Ijegun church who facilitated the robbery. The alleged marketer to the suspects was said to be on the run. Theophilus told Sunday Vanguard that he was not resident in Lagos, and that he came in from Abeokuta where he claimed to be a teacher. He claimed to be a university graduate. According to the suspect, he is married with a child. Indeed, the police took him to a high profile hotel where he claimed to be lodging in Ikotun area to corroborate his statement, and he was found to be paying N6,000 per night there. Asked if he did not fear God as to go to achurch to rob, Theophilus, a Christian, said he feared God,but that, that fear paled into insignificance when the survival of his family was at stake.

I was hanging out with friends last nite, the usual drinking, gisting, some smoking and the usual oogling of innocently passing female butts and fronts. Dont know why exactly but I became quite for about 30mins. I was struck mute when I realises dat we had been gisting mostly about a friend of ours who was not present. How he just got wedded, bought a new car,got a new job and the likes. Most did not have nice things to say about him though they would all have hailed him if he happend to walk into d club at dat moment. Business drinking, gisting, highness are terms that would have been used to describe that situation, but I think that was gossiping with a capital G. This highly frowned upon trait is obviously not exclusive to the fairer sex, or what do you think ![]() |

"Kweekee kweekee kweeke kweekee". The rusting ceiling fan went on an on with its irritating noise at precise intervals. Since the noise started about two months ago, my dad had made efforts to chuck the fan hook attached to the concrete ceiling with pieces of wood but despite his efforts, the noise had returned persistently after few days of use. He had finally given up and I and my sisters and brother had had no other option than to adapt to the noisy fan. Normally I would have fallen asleep long ago despite the brain damaging squeaks emanating from the rusty old fan, but sleep had eluded me for more than two hours now. The light from the electric security bulb at the veranda was penetrating in a steady stream into the bedroom i shared with my other four siblings. My brother was fast asleep beside me, I could feel his chest rise and fall steadily even though he was lying flat on his chest. He had a strange sleeping style; always slept on his stomach with both hands lying straight and parallel to his slim, dark body. We shared a bed just like my sisters who were fast asleep also on the other end of the room. They were lying on one of the pair of beds my dad had contructed for us when we moved into this new accomodation. The old bed had been a 6 feet by 6 feet monster which we, the kids all shared in a funny way. I, my brother and two of my sisters would lie in the conventional horizontal pattern, while my youngest sister would squeeze herself vertically at the little space left between our feet and the foot of the bed. My dad had woken up one morning and before you could say "bunkers", he had divided the huge bed into two equal parts. One for the boys and one for the girls, my youngest sister had to make do with sleeping on the floor as the bed could only contain people in pairs. I stood up for the fifth time that night and carefuly navigated my way in the semi darkness to the other end of the room where my sisters were also fast asleep. The eldest was sleeping face up with her mouth open partly and with her head bent to one side. It was a futile effort but I had to repeat this act untill I could eventually fall asleep. The squeeking noise from the fan I could deal with, I mean after a while it had unknowingly transformed into a kind of lullaby as the sound had become associated with the act of sleeping. I stretched out my hand and shook her vigorously on the shoulder. She opened her eyes dreamingly, adjusted her position and promptly returned back to sleep. I walked away and climbed back grudgingly to bed. It had been a tiring day but my crazy mind would not relax long enough for nature to induce the natural body state which was apt for this time of the day....or should I say night? I was starting to feel my conciousness slowly begin to drift in the joyfull currents of River Sleepy when I was drawn back to reality by that awfull noise again. I felt my blood boil with anger and frustrtation, among everybody in the house I was the only one who could not bear to sleep with that sound. For some reason the sound of my sister's snoring was the most irritating sound I had ever heard. The sounds she produced, especially during inhalation had the propensity to drive me screaming, running naked in the street mad! Only two methods I had had to invent, saved me from this mind shattering eventuality; I either made sure I went to bed before her or resolved to shaking her out of her snoring state till I eventually fell asleep during the short intervals of silence. Her snoring picked up in both frequency and decibel, but I was too tired to go shake her out of it. My mind easily wandered to my experience earlier in the day at the Oga's house and I willingly took refuge from her snoring in the intricate labyrinth of my thoughts |

Mudley313: with the advent of camera phones, youtube etc why have such extraordinary occurrences never ever been captured on tape, only dem say?The experience I was narrating happened about 22years ago, am sure even Bill Gates did not have a camera phone then not to talk of humble me. |
Bill, I have seen an event that may qualify to fit into your question about withches and wizards. Still beyond my comprehension and liable to a sacarstic respone from you, I must say that yes; I have seen what must have been an incident that qualify as an example that witches do exist. I incidentally ran into a crowd where a snake was being killed. In front of my eyes, the snake 'metamorphosed'(for lack of a better word to describe was I saw) into a naked young lady. My senses were so repulsed by what I saw that I threw up repeatedly immediately after I beheld such anomally. The whole crowd dispersed with alarcrity. It was a pity I could not witness what happened to her eventually as I was draged home by my elder sister I was walking with. I am not saying it(she) was a witch, just that I have experienced first hand a "witch-like" occurence. |
"I like that kine fan wey those people get for thier house, the tin dey blow cold breeze well well." I said to my dad as a precursor to my interview. "What kind of fan?" My dad asked me after some seconds. From the look he gave me and the raspy tone he spoke with, I got the silent warning he gaved to me. "The ones that they put inside the wall". I elaborated while correcting myself. I dad had a strong dislike for his kids speaking anything other than "correct" English. In the near darkness I saw a look of confusion creep into his face. I could tell that he was trying to understand my statement. I was about giving him a better description of what I was refering to when a heard a brief whisper of a laugh excape his narrow lips. "That is not a fan, its called A.C. It is like a fridge with a fan that cools the air before it will blow it out. That is why the house was cool like that." He explained to me though I could not fully grab the new concept he was trying to relate to confined mind like mine. "I like it o! Are you going to buy it and put in our house?". At that age, I knew that making major adjustments to a government owned building wasn't a frivolous act to embark upon at one's whim. Installing a fridge or fan, into the wall would require prior permission from those administrators at the top. "Hmmm, that AC is for the big Ogas. The government puts everything in the house for them. TVs, Video Player, Gas Cooker, Fridge, even Washing Machine for free. They just have to pack in with thier bags alone." My dad said, he had been pausing at intervals while mentioning the various home appliances, whether for emphasis or in an effort to recall them I could not tell. I was busy ruminating the new information that I just became privvy to. After a brief pause I threw him the next question that my brief meditation left unanswered. "So when you work for some more time, they will promote you and we will 'pack' into that kind of house with all those things inside?". I had a little idea of how the principle of promotion worked in my father's organisation. "People that will be promoted to that level are people that have gone to school. You know? those that have gone to University. Even if they promote me, the kind house we will move to wont be like that one. Wey government don give them everything inside." He replied with a solemn tinge in his voice. My dad had gradually regressed from speaking 'correct' to 'broken' English during his last explanation. Though he strictly demanded it from us, he could barely suastain more than ten minuites of speaking 'correct' English at a go. "Me, na my primary six wey I take enter this work. And no be small suffer before I succeed sef. If I just work for like twenty to twenty five years, I go retire take the big money they will pay me to go build my own house. Na those wey go school school go become Oga and enjoy that kind life for here." He concluded as we rounded the fence that encompassed and seperated the senior quaters from our dwellings. In front of me was the red gate that was the entrance to the junior quaters with its familiar sorroundings. The buildings were still new and were equiped with the basic amenities. Rushing water and modest kitchen and bathroom appliances. By this time we had moved into a 'palatial' two bedroom flat which afforded our growing family of seven more space. An added bonus was that the quaters was connected to the generating plant which supplied electricity in times of power outage. We entered the house through the back door and proceeded to drop our gear at the veranda attached to the back of the building. As I walked towards the sitting room to see what was on(I had no time for food as my mind and stomach was in the process of digesting the new facts an cuisine I had ingested not too long ago), I heard my dad nonchalantly utter the most important words he will ever say to me. "That is why if I tell you "go to school!", "read your book! It is not for my own good but for yours! It is so that you can...you fit provide well for your own children." |
It was getting dark, that brief period where you could still see in front of you and where darkness seemed to be looming just behind the little light that was left of the day. The little chunks of gravel crunched noisily beneath my feet as I walked beside my father on our way home after the tedious work we had just engaged in. My head was hung low, I was starring at the road as I walked in steady steps towards home. I was still slinging the bag with tools from my shoulder and though we had made use of most of its content earlier, the weight of the bag seemed to have trippled as the sling was digging a deep dent on my left shoulder. I was tired, but not from the work I and my dad had just finished; we had worked like a well oiled German machine and within two hours we had succeeded in changing all the boards and tommorow we would conclude the job by nailing the patterns to hold up the ceiling boards. The fatigue I felt was more of a mental nature, from the second I stepped my foot through the door of that house, my senses had been bombarded with sights, sounds and feelings which were foreign to my ambivalent mind. I had been ruminating over this new experinces from then till this moment but still I could not get my little brain to wrap around it succesfully. So i decided to ask questions from my father, at least he had been there and as a grown up, I was sure he had a lot more experince in his bag than I did. I looked up at my dad and the picture I saw was strangely familiar to the one I saw on our way going to the "Oga's" house, the only difference was that this time, the light behind his head was comming from a security light hanging from a fence. He had said less than ten words to me since we finished working, I framed up the questions in my head and garnered the courage to voice them. |
That the last BJ he will ever get from her. Oh yes, you can bet your willy on that! |
@ Op, I refuse to believe that this is your first time of hearing\experiencing something of this nature(cept maybe you are just visiting us from the moon). But you are very wrong in your metaphorical assertions that the inquisitiveness of those kids is as a direct result of corruption, poverty or other social ills that you feel is exclusive to Nigeria. Its a world wide phenomenon! Just as you smashed your toy as a kid to find out what made it sing or move, any normal kid of that age has nothing but curiousity coursing through his\her veins. And as you should know, hunger and sex are high up on the scale of natural human cravings. It is hilarious that some over bloated egos here think and even express thier warped reasoning the western countries are better off in issues of this nature. Thats a crazy joke not worthy of any argument. NB. Somebody tell that crazy CAMEROONIAN morraphucker he should go look for a hole and crawl in. I am getting tired of his slide comments about Nigeria on this and other threads. Just because you succeded in crossing(sneaking) over to the US in someone's laugage, you dey here dey run your smelly toothless mouth. OP, come to think of it, what were you looking for under the staircase ![]() |

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (often called simply, the Seven Wonders of the World) is a list of man-made structures built during the classical era. Scholars believe that ancient historians began compiling the list in the second century B.C. The final list of the Seven Wonders that we currently reference was defined in the Middle Ages. 1. The Great Pyramid at Giza Cairo, Egypt Noted for being the only surviving member of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid is the largest of the 3 pyramids built in the ancient city of Giza, now part of greater Cairo, Egypt. The pyramid is believed to have been built around 2560 B.C. as a tomb for the Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu, and likely took 20 years to construct. (Egyptologists argue over man-power numbers, and estimates have ranged from 14,000 to 360,000 men). When built, the pyramid measured nearly 480 feet high, with the sides each measuring about 755 feet long. In addition, each side is oriented with one of the cardinal points (north, south, east and west). Nearly 2.3 million blocks of stone, each weighing approximately 2 tons, comprise the pyramid. The pyramid remained the world's tallest building for 4 millennia after it was built. 2. Hanging Gardens of Babylon Al-Hillah, Iraq. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are said to have been built by Nebuchadnezzar II, a ruler of Babylon, around 600 B.C. Though historians often debate the actual existence of the gardens, because there's no physical evidence and Babylonian documents never mention them (Greek scholars first described the gardens), accounts state that the gardens consisted of vaulted terraces raised above one another and supported on pillars -- in other words, an artificial rising mountain of gardens. The terraces were filled with dirt and planted with trees and flora, which were said to hang over the sides. The amazement over the gardens stems from what would have been an extraordinarily complicated irrigation system, which brought water from the Euphrates to the gardens in an otherwise arid environment. The gardens are thought to have been destroyed by an earthquake around the first century B.C. 3. Temple of Artemis at Ephesus Selcuk, Turkey. Completed around 550 B.C. to honor the Greek goddess of hunting and nature, the Temple of Artemis was built during the Achaemenid Dynasty of the Persian Empire. Arson destroyed the temple in 356 B.C. The ancient author and philosopher Pliny described the temple as being 377 feet long and 180 feet wide (about 3 times the size of the Parthenon), with 127 Ionic columns measuring 60 feet high, and made solely of marble. Used as both a marketplace and a place of worship, the temple housed numerous works of art and sculpture. 4. Statue of Zeus at Olympia Olympia, Greece. This enormous statue honoring the god Zeus was built at the Temple of Zeus in Olympia around 450 B.C. Designed by the Greek sculptor Pheidias, the statue of a seated Zeus measured 40 feet tall and was carved from ivory with gold-plated accents. The statue depicts him seated on a cedar throne inlaid with jewels, holding a statue of Nike (goddess of victory) in his right hand and a scepter with an eagle on top in his left hand. Various theories exist to explain the statue's destruction. Some scholars believe that it was destroyed along with the temple in the fifth century. Others argue that the statue was brought to Constantinople, where it was destroyed in a fire in A.D. 462. 5. Tomb of Maussollos at Halicarnassus Southwestern Turkey. The tomb built to hold the remains of the Persian king Mausollos and his wife, Artemisia, was designed by the Greek architects Satyrus and Pythius and constructed around 353 B.C. on a hill overlooking the ancient city of Halicarnassus. The tomb stood 135 feet high, and its exterior was surrounded by an ornamental frieze. Numerous statues, bas-reliefs and columns decorated the exterior of the ornate and enormous tomb, and eventually the term "mausoleum" became used to describe any large and impressive tomb. Multiple earthquakes ultimately led to the destruction of the tomb in the 14th century. 6. Colossus at Rhodes Rhodes, Greece. The Colossus of Rhodes was actually an enormous, looming 100-foot tall statue of the Greek god Helios, built on the island of Rhodes around 280 B.C. The statue was erected to commemorate the island's patron god, Helios, after Rhodes successfully defended itself in 304 B.C. from an invasion. Scholars believe that the statue stood either on a pedestal at the entrance to the island's harbor or on a breakwater in the harbor. An earthquake destroyed the statue in 226 B.C., a mere 54 years after its construction. 7. Lighthouse of Alexandria Pharos Island, Alexandria. Egypt Scholars estimate the Lighthouse of Alexandria measured between 383 and 450 feet high and was built in the third century B.C. to act as a landmark for Pharos, a small island off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt. The lighthouse's tower was built using light-colored stone, and at its highest point, a mirror was placed to reflect sunlight during the day; at night a fire burned to give off light. Some historians believe that the light given off could be seen for some 35 miles. The lighthouse was damaged by 2 earthquakes in 1303 and 1323, and its remains were destroyed in 1480, when a fort was built on the site.
