@ jesinmi El-Rufai is d highest profiled Hausa / Fulani in CPC |
I doubt wether Fashola would want to join CPC because of the Youth Corper 'wahala' even though there is no proof linking CPC directly with d violence d general believe and perception is they inspired their supporters by their rethorics. For these reasons Fashola would never be caught in that camp. But then never say never. ![]() After Buhari, d CPC might be d last bastion of men of integrity who love Nigeria dearly and want to serve deligently without enriching themselves. Is Fashola of that mould, I don't really think so. (fashola is a capitalist to d core who would make a quick buck out of a good project)the only other radical that would possible close ranks and join CPC might be Pat Utomi. This might be d closest d Igbo's might get nearer to d Presidency. El-Rufai/ Pat Utomi, Bakare would not want to play d second fiddle for d second time when he knows he should be d natural sucessor to Buhari but if the CPC are going to go 'North' then the likelyhood of Pat Utomi running with El-Rufai might be feasible. |
The centre needs to be weakened so that those clowns bent on a " do or I die politics would be confined to their states" except of course you wan go Abuja to they do errand boy. Who would dear struggle with Adamu Ciroma in Bauchi State is it Fashola or Amechi, the earlier they effect this change the better for the country. |
Ondo votes N170m for Akure, Ikare, Ore master plan Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Kunle Ashaolu, said on Tuesday that the state would spend N170m to produce a new master plan for Akure, Ikare and Ore this year. Ashaolu, who stated this in an interview with journalists in his office, explained that some consultants were already working on the project and that the exercise would be extended to other parts of the state very soon. He also said that the state government had banned further approval of petrol stations in the metropolis and had directed that construction of buildings below four storeys would no longer be allowed on the Oba Adesida, Oyemekun, Arakale and Hospital Roads in Akure. He insisted that the move was to discourage indiscriminate erection of structures along the highways, which he said was responsible for the present condition of the state capital. He said the decision not to approve any structure less than four storeys along the major roads in the city was taken by the state government in conformity with the dream of a skyline that was being projected for the metropolis. He stated that when the first phase of the master plan had been concluded, other major urban centres like Ondo, Owo, Ido-Ani, Idanre and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo would benefit from the project. He said, “This is what we can accommodate in the present budget, the rest would be taken care of later.” He said that the master plan for the three towns would cost the state government N170m and that about 29 companies had shown interest in the consultancy, out of which a winner, whose competence was confirmed, would get the job. He regretted the sorry condition of urban centres in the state, saying, “People were just constructing structures without following laid-down procedures. That is why we have this haphazard development everywhere. We are, however, determined to correct the situation.” Ashaolu also said the state government had placed a ban on the processing of application for building of filling stations in Akure. |
Hahahahahaha, you made me laugh so hard that I almost lost my breath. If a standalone Bakare gets more than one vote in any election he should be happy.Look it is still early days, 2 years into GEJ regime the country would have known where they are going and who ever inherets Buhari's political asset and can draw new votes especially in the SW would win the next election, I can gurantee you that. |
KnowAll, Bakare on his own cannot even stand against Chris Okotie. The 10 million votes had absolutely nothing to do with Bakare. I can say Bakare was even a minus to Buhari considering the fact that he could have gone for someone like Okonjo Iweala. That is because he was a VP, as the main Presidential Candidate it would be a diffrent kettle of fish, I can assure you. |
Good Word, Well Spoken, My fellow juggernautI don't know why you SS or SE peole think you have the numerical strength to manovre things politically in Naija, you lack the numbers hence why Mr GEJ had to claim albeit Brazingly '99.9%' of voter's equity in those region. Don't you know the moment CPC chooses a Yoruba man like 'Bakare', SWesterners’ would be singing a different tune. The problems of the last election was ‘Buhari’ had being demonized as an ‘irredeemable Mullah’ and proved a hard commodity to sell in the South hence the almost zero votes in Southern Nigeria. Next election is for the political savvy politician and a quick learner, Bakare has a " 10 million head start-up that is" if Buhari's army of voters throw their weight behind him, all he would have to do is convince the Yoruba's. I don't SEE Fashola getting the Presidential slot in any other party come 2015, it would go to a northerner in both the ACN and PDP camps. |
Na sky-scrapper egba people wan chop ? Ok what did he do with all the debt he left behind for AmosuIf na Skyscraper he use the money build, that would be there for posterity at least, just Like Cocoa House. But this one now no skyscraper, no money, that is bad. |
That is why any ministerial appointee with k-leg must be kicked out. Every state in Nigeria has more than a million people, if it means going to the far corners of the world to bring in a honest man/woman then so be it. Recycled professional-political jobbers must look for other means of survival. Let all those who have held potical jobs go and open factories and industries so that Nigerians would be employed, why should they want to be spoon fed until they drop dead, when they should be contributing to growth and progress of their states. Can someone tell me one idustry or factory Soludo or Akunyuli have in their constiuencies yet I bet they are probably lining up and lobbying for the next appointment. This is not an isolated case I just used those two individuals name because they are high profile members of our society and readers of this peice would be able to grasp the enormity of the problem facing our nation, it is the same story all over the 36 states n the country. Political Jobbers lining up to take appointment yet nothing on the ground in their LG. |
Was even designed by A local Archictect, I am impressed. ![]() |

Obviously you did'nt read or hear any news which shows that among the 10 million are underaged voters and corpers forceful multiple thump printing.Nigerians are now poltically suave, people vote differently when it comes to the Presidency as to when compared to other elections, just the way it is done in the west. I think our electorates are becoming more mature, people have realise there is no point voting for someone just because he is from your region, the same reason why ACN performed woefully in the SW during the last Presidential elections. Are you now saying there are less than 10 million adults above the age of 18(because there were some incidents of under-age voting in some states in the North) in Sokoto, Kebbi,Kano,Kaduna,Yobe,Borno,Gombe,Zamfara, Nassarawa, and Niger all these states voted CPC overwhealming during the last Presidential elections. ACN by joining the goverment in the centre has relinquished there role as the official opposition, CPC is now the official opposition. |
core north should forget about presidency till next millenium .that is 3015that is 1000 years, 100 years is 2115 |
Ngige is political prostitute, wetin concern ACN with PDP internal politics. The man needS to go and do Pols101 course in the Uni all over again. |
CPC as a party should forget about the presidency at least for the next 100 years. We should be talking about ACN or any other progressive party att this time. The foundation of CPC is horribly faulty and no structure can stand on it in the near term. The only thing they can do is to completely rebrand by breaking down the foundation, digging new trenches and starting all over again (probably with a new name). If you have 10 million guranteed votes even before doing any sort of campaingn in the NE and NW, it would be stupiid to throw that political capital away. Just because GEJ got away with 'Blue Murder' in SS and SE(jonathan would still have won because Buhari was non-existent in the South any way), 2015 would be a different cup of tea. |
Buhari has some tight SW men doing his PR Battles for him, with a bit of patience and tutelage I have a stong feeling and an equally stark realisation that the likelihood of a a combine SW, NW, NE and NC is very possible(OBVIOUSLY THAT GIVES YOU THE PRESIDENCY), there is already an established anti-Jonathan and PDP feelings in the NE and NW, the NC and SW would be the Kingmakers and are the ones that need to be persuaded. CPC needs to re-strategize they can still get the Presidency come 2015. The key would be the candidates they field, 'Bakare'(is still a relatively honest man in the Buhari-mould) he has been mute for sometime, he should stay mute for at least 2 years don't crticise for the sake of criticism, come out all guns blazing by year 3 and 4 of Jonathan's regime and watch public opinion swing. My Gut feeling is Bakare/ El-Rufai ticket or vice versa would be the ideal ticket and would give CPC the edge, the former rather than the latter would prove a winner otherwise the CPC would have to console and confine themselves to a replical results like those of 2011 if the latter ticket is chosen. Trust me, SWesterners with Bakare on the ticket as the front runner despite his " wild wild North" premonitions and speech would fall like pack of cards behind him if he were to run. The battle lines are drawn, Buhari should stick to his retirement plans come 2015, if he runs he would be humuliated. |
If Yardua’s father could be the minister for Lagos in the 1960’s what stops Jonathan appointing a Southerner as the next FCT Minister, in fact the way forward for Abuja is to have a Mayor who would test his popularity in the polls, all these political appointments are not it at all. |
We must not forget and be reminded that d official salary of Governors in Nigeria is N1.9 million a year which works out to roughly 200,000 Naira a month. Well I don't Know how far this money would go in helping restore/ support free education. Well it is a widow's might worth commending. People give out money for two reasons either it is too small and not worthy of their time or they are a geniue philantropher, My haunch is it is the former rather than the latter. ![]() |
Rochas was in Londonn 2 weeks ago for 2 days, I met one of his aides who told me they travelled in together, d guy come collect some nice " baths" as Governor in waiting, that man like d good things of life, even his aides were very flamboyant guys, d guy would clean out IMO, but he would be better than Ohakim that much I can say. Given up his salary is just a ruse. |
In this modern day of information technology why do some states and in fact many a state that get little money from the Federation account still have bloated and ineffective civil service. I cringed with wonder and amazement when I hear states screaming blue murder, how could the Feds just increase minimum wage without consulting us, our lollipop has been snatched away from us, we cannot implement that minimum wage. This is stupuuudity of the highest order; in fact all civil servants all over the country should have been down by at least a 1/3 of what it was 20 years ago if only our so called Governors can put on their thinking caps for once and for only 5 seconds, and stop thinking of their “ pockets” or involve in their new fad “ of who wants to be a billionaire next “. This week we learnt and heard how the Kano State Governor plundered his states to the tune of 110 Billion Naira and yet the minimum rate is an uphill task that is non negotiable to implement and what about the antics of OGD who brought Ogun State to the tethers by borrowing N49 Billion Naira, yet the minimum wage was a no-go area for many months not until 4 days b4 he left office. The same tatic was deployed by of Akala of Oyo State too. I work for the British Civil service and when I joined they had an army of 180,000 civil servants 15 years ago, today Year- 2011 they are only 85,000 thanks to information technology and other innovative ways of doing things. Despite these impressive cuts the Cameron regime has pass an edict rather quaintly and covertly that every department must endeavour as much as possible to achieve a further 25% reduction, that would bring down my departmental strength to just under 72,000 or there about. Why are Nigerian States still increasing in size in the light of all these new technology at hand that could be harnessed harmoniously and get the job done quicker, why not cut down now to a trim and effective service that would be up to speed in terms of delivery and efficacy, this old legacy and relic of the Udoji award of 1975 has being left to hanker on for too long without direction or purpose and must be halted in this directionless voyage to oblivion and be brought back to reality, the civil service can be turned around and made effective again if the will is there, and when this happen the states that takes the scruff by the neck would not only be able to pay that meagre N18,000 recommended but be able to double it. Today Niger State are screaming and clamouring for all who would care to listen that they cannot pay the minimum wage, I am even surprise Lagos State is also in the fray of states struggling to pay that pittance of a minimum wage , I thought Fashola has so many green-horns from the US/UK who are doing marvellous jobs for Lagos State why can’t they face this double headed monster or toxin to state finances by reforming it to world best practises as it is done all over the world. I know it is all about creating jobs, but employing people who go to Government offices to twiddle their thumbs all day causes more harm than good to society and the economy at large, running government’s like this is a throw back to the way things were done in the 70’s, in fact most Nigeria offices remind me of a bygone era anytime I visit Government offices. Today we have embraced mobile phones we might as well go the long haul and effect change in all facet of our lives. I hope the new chief executives in the states would move away from this grime and move into the modern era, Rochas, Ajimobi and Amosun I hope you are paying apt attention to this hard facts otherwise your free education mantra would be another empty promises that would be lost in time, I have a feeling that saying “ I shall offer free education up to SSS” is taken with a pinch of salt by many people, I await to be proven otherwise. |
Can d council of state really sit in unison and harmony when some constituent members turned down d opportunity to grace d President's inauguration. It is no more news that there is a deep emotive discontent and chasim b / w Mr President & Buhari on one hand and MR President & IBB on d other hand. How does d council of state address absentism? since input from these august members would be weighted opinion disregarding their input wouldn't that defeat d whole essence of this assembly if lesser members can go ahead to profess and accentuate critical decision. I think d Cof S should be scrapped. |
The man looks like a man who is about to have a heart attack, I hope he would not be carried out of Aso Rock in a box. ![]() |
What really was the point of this thread? To exonerate Akala or to use this as a launch pad to bash other governors? I fail to see the the moronic (I apologise in advance) logic in this post. Akala should not be criticised because other governors were just as corrupt and incompetent? It doesn't matter what other governors did, Akala owed good governance to the people of Oyo and not to the people of Ogun or Lagos. It appears you are telling the people of Oyo not to crucify Akala because other governors did just as badly. I am afraid that is a naive way of thinking.

The point of the thread is to view our Governance in this country holistically. We cannot exonerate in-competency in any other part of our polity because we are talking of Akala of Oyo State. What is annoying amongst some of our leaders is, despite squandering the standard statutory allocations, some of our Governor’s have the effrontery to go and borrow more this is what I would call and term “double jeopardy” or “double wahala” to the polity. This stuupidity must not be condoned and neither should we because we love the snail speed development in Lagos and also love the Gentleman in that state turn our eyes the other way when items, goods, services that can be provided by a fraction of the cost is being sort after and provided at mind blowing extortionist cost, We are 12 years into our democracy; contracts amongst many countries in Europe are fairly comparable, so is wages both minimum and maximum pay of public officers. Contract implementation and awards amongst West-African states should also be fairly comparable too. |
You are a pathetic and untruthful snake.Keep on praising Fashola and watch your city go to the dogs, this morning I heard Warmart is about to open stores in S.A. and most of the countries in Southern Africa like Botswana, Namibia and Angola. The only other country mentioned in sub-sahara Africa was Ghana. Our leaders are short changing us seriously meanwhile investing big time in Accra, continue wallowing in your slum city. |
Segmentise the city. General Petrias policy in Baghdad should be implemented. You open fire on a police station and try do a runner, you got caught by any of the different sector commanders who would halt your escape. That is how the back-bone of al-quidah was broken in Bagdad. |
You are very ignorant about construction. you are comparing construction in lagos to that of accra, have you forgotten the compensations that will be paid to owners of demolished houses? dont you know houses are expensive in lagos and so will be the compensations. have you considered the nature of the soil in lagos? have you,Plus or minus lets assume Lagos would cost 3 times more than what Accra spent, on the project, I would not personally trust any spurious compensation payment made by Lagos State unless they make the information public, whereby the amount given to each of the stake-holders would be explicitly annotated in a public domain. Compensation payments in Nigeria is covered and shrouded in all kind of secrecy, in most cases they pull the figures from the air. I would not vouch for such payments in Nigeria, it is just another handsome way and avenue to milk the system. If I and any other interested members of the general public cannot physically tie a name to a specific person and to a specific property with such details such as the telephone numbers of the beneficiaries in case of future verification then no show. I believe such information should be in the public domain in a true spirit of freedom of information. People in Naija just open their mouth we want FOI in Naija without them knowing what it entails. |
The man looks too fat for the job, I hope he doesn’t have a heart-attack when he gets there. Most Nigeria big men “ na to chop and die dem sabi” I wish him the best of luck. |
You know at times, I think Akalas performane is not too bad compared to other PDP governors.I grew in Ibadan, he had to Go, his best was not good enough, and of course he was not the worse of a really bad lot. In fact he did more in Ibadan than a few previous Ibadan indigene Governors. |
^-- lmao.Let us be realistic here, someone said the BRT Buses that they keep on harping on about(Tinubu/Fashola) are falling to pieces so did someone says, If that is true then we have no hope. I did not know Accra uses double-decker buses like the ones in London, one would have expected a city of 18 million like Lagos to purchase such buses, if I can find the picture of the double-decker buses I would post it. |
C'mon, did you actually wrote this? FYI, Lekki- Epe Expressway is a concessioned road , as in PPP. The govt did NOT contribute not provided even the bond/guarantee to the concessionaires. The parties(axis residents, the concessionaire and the govt) are currently engaged in attempts to resolve the issues of tolling. Pls get your facts right. For your information, work stopped sometime ago because of issues of tolling and percentage of work doneBloated contract has being the bane of the Tinubu/Fashola regime, Lagos is moving at a snail speed development-wise. I went through the 45 pages of the Accra web site, that city is changing for the good. Affordable Luxurious flats springing up around the airport, and guess who the investors are - Naijas- they steal your money and go and invest in another man's country. Iwould advise you to take the patience and go through all 45 pages on that web site. You would see a morden City in the making and they are not praise singing like Fashola's millions of PR men. Accra in 5 years time would over-take Lagos if care is not taken. ![]() |
